The Peshawar administration has banned the sale of junk food near schools and aerial firing in the city, particularly airport surrounding areas. A notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar enforced Section 144, prohibiting the sale of junk food within a 150-meter radius of schools. The notification reads, “Legal action will be taken against vendors selling substandard chips and other junk food items under Section 144. This order will remain in effect for 30 days.”
Section 144 has also been enforced around Peshawar Airport for two months. It bans aerial firing, kite flying, pigeon flying and the use of laser lights in the airport’s locality. The notification reads that laser lights and pigeon shops around the airport will also be prohibited. This decision aims to ensure the safety of aircraft and the general public.
The Deputy Commissioner has assured that the authorities will closely monitor compliance and take necessary actions against violators. Earlier on Monday, DC Multan took similar action by imposing a ban on a specific candy. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the candy named “Strawberry Quick” is a “deadly poison,” and children are being given “crystal meth” in the form of candy.

Azhar also highlighted another issue—rushing bowlers back from injury.
Pakistan’s pace attack has dealt with injuries frequently. But instead of giving them proper recovery time, the management often brings them back too soon.
“The Pakistan team management rushes bowlers back after an injury; their rehabilitation is not done as it should be,” Azhar explained.
He compared it to how India handled Jasprit Bumrah’s injury. The star pacer was out for a year. He could have returned earlier, but India prioritized his long-term fitness over a quick comeback. And now? Bumrah is back to his best.
One common argument is that players rush their comebacks because they fear losing their place. But Azhar dismissed this idea when asked about Pakistan’s main fast bowlers.
“All these three or four bowlers which you are talking about—Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah—how will they lose their place? They are proper bowlers,” he said.

Netflix has released a teaser for Squid Game season 3, and it reveals a major change to one of the show’s most recognisable games. Squid Game season 2 broke records with more than 68 million viewers in the first four days after it launched on Netflix on Boxing Day. Its viewership in premiere week beat Jenna Ortega’s thriller Wednesday’s 50.1 million views when it was released in 2022.
The show follows hundreds of cash-strapped individuals as they compete in deadly games for a life-changing sum of money and their lives. It welcomes the return of Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun/Player 456, who seeks to infiltrate the games and put an end to them once and for all.
One of those games is “Red Light, Green Light,” which sees an unusually large doll placed at one end of a field. The doll, Young-hee, dressed in a yellow t-shirt and orange dress, has become a symbol of the show. Jung Ho-yeon, who played Sae-byeok in the first season, confirmed the doll was inspired by a character in Korean school textbooks on Tonight with Jimmy Fallon in 2021.

In a teaser for season three released on Wednesday (1 January), the doll appears, looking slightly concerned, opposite a brand new male doll. As new players enter behind her, she is seen facing the male doll in a green shirt with stripes. “Everyone say hi to Chul-su,”wrote Netflix alongside the teaser. “Squid Game 3 coming 2025.” In one of Netflix’s YouTube channels, Still Watching Netflix, the history behind the dolls is revealed. Both Young-hee and Chul-su are regularly recurring fictional children in Korean education texts that are “similar to the American versions Dick and Jane or Jack and Jill”.
The dolls, it is explained, “were used to teach Korean kids about morals, good behaviours, and to learn how to read and write.” Although they aren’t featured as much anymore, they are said to be prominent reminders of childhood for many adults.
Squid Game creators had confirmed a third season was in development even before the official release of season two. While an official release date has not been announced, the show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyu, told Variety: “At this point, anything I might say is going to be a spoiler, so I want to be cautious. But what I can say is, after season two launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for season three soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall.”

Karachi is set to host three ICC Champions Trophy matches.The matches will be held at the National Stadium today (Wednesday), February 21 and March 1.The city is bracing for the opening match, which marks the beginning of the first ICC event since the 1996 ODI Cricket World Cup hosted by the country.The opening match is between Pakistan and New Zealand. Champions Trophy 2025: Traffic Plan Issued for Karachi Matches
Hosts Pakistan will take on New Zealand in the curtain raiser on February 19 in Karachi. The blockbuster clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. According to the Traffic deputy inspector general, Sir Shah Suleman Road will remain open for vehicular traffic during the matches. Special parking arrangements have been made for cricket fans. Fans will be able to park their vehicles at the National Coaching Centre and the China Ground.
Those coming from Karsaz will be directed to these designated parking areas by taking the route under the flyover.Heavy traffic will be allowed to move from Sohrab Goth to Nipa, from Liaquatabad No 10 to Hassan Square and from PP Chowrangi to University Road. However, routes from Karsaz to the stadium, Millennium to New Town and the Stadium Signal to Hassan Square will be closed to heavy vehicles.The Traffic DIG has urged spectators not to park their cars or motorcycles on the roads or service lanes, advising them to use only the designated parking areas.

Sixteen Pakistani government officials will be recognised by the US Consul General in Karachi tomorrow for their exceptional care and support of American citizen Onijah Andrew during her visit to the city last month. The officials, including officers from the FIA, police, and airport medical team, assisted the 33-year-old woman, who had travelled to Pakistan to marry a man she met on social media.

The Sindh High Court has approved the physical remand of Armaghan Qureshi, the key suspect in the murder of Mustafa Amir. The high court directed authorities to present him before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) for further proceedings. Justice Zafar Rajput of the Sindh High Court presided over the hearing, during which the suspect, Armaghan, was also present in court. The court has ordered the formation of a medical board to conduct a post-mortem and collect DNA samples from Mustafa’s remains.
Further revelations have come from Armaghan’s friend, Shiraz, who claimed that Mustafa and Armaghan had a dispute over a girl during New Year’s Eve. The disagreement led to Armaghan calling Mustafa to his house on January 6, where he violently killed him. The suspects then transported his body in the car’s trunk to Hub in Balochistan, where they set the vehicle on fire. Initial investigations indicate that Armaghan and Shiraz were responsible for burning the car and disposing of the body.
