Mental Stress Is Behind Babar Azam’s Bad Form: Rashid Latif

mental-stress-is-behind-babar-azam-bad-form-rashid-latif

Rashid Latif, former captain of Pakistan, has recently voiced some serious concerns about the mental health of star batter Babar Azam. The former wicket-keeper suggested that the pressures of captaincy might be taking a toll on Babar’s batting performance.

In a recent chat, Latif hinted that Babar Azam might be struggling mentally after being abruptly stripped of his captaincy role last year. Latif believes that this added pressure could be affecting Babar’s mindset when he’s out in the middle.

Is Mental Pressure Hampering Babar’s Game?

Babar Azam was asked to resign from captaincy last year by then-PCB head Zaka Ashraf after Pakistan’s first round exit from the ODI World Cup in India. Babar resigned from the captaincy of all three formats and played as a specialist batter during subsequent series against Australia and New Zealand.

However, the current PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi reappointed Babar as the captain of white-ball teams ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

According to Rashid Latif, Babar is still a top-notch batter, however, these constant changes and captaincy burden has affected the mental health of star batter.

“Mental issues seem to be the bigger problem here. Let’s not forget, he was removed as captain under tough circumstances. When your mind isn’t in the right place, it messes with your game. You end up trying too hard with every ball,” Latif explained in his interview.

It looks like Latif thinks that Babar’s struggle isn’t about his technique but more about the mental pressure he’s facing.

The Heavy Burden of Leadership

Latif’s comments really spotlight how leadership can mess with a player’s mental state. He stresses that Babar’s dip in form isn’t about his batting skills; it’s more about the mental strain he’s dealing with.

“The problem seems to be more about mental stress than about technique. It’s clear that the guy is struggling with a lot of mental pressure,” Latif added.

So, what’s next for Babar? Rashid Latif thinks the way forward might be to let go of the leadership role. If Babar can focus on his game and ease off the mental load, he could find his confidence again.

Why Is Haseebullah Khan Missing From Champions Cup?

why-is-haseebullah-khan-missing-from-champions-cup

Haseebullah Khan is quickly becoming one of Pakistan’s most talked-about young wicket-keeper batters. Many fans are already hailing him as the natural successor to Mohammad Rizwan across all formats. But recent events in the Champions One-Day Cup have left everyone wondering if Haseebullah is really getting the chance to show what he’s made of.

The 21-year-old was included in the Rizwan-led Markhors’ squad for the tournament, and that got a lot of people excited. Fans couldn’t wait to see him in action, especially since many believe he’s got what it takes to challenge Rizwan for that national team wicket-keeper spot.

Read More: Mohammad Rizwan: A Scorer Who Shines Only In Defeats?

But then the first two matches came and went, and Haseebullah? Nowhere to be found in the playing XI. Fans were frustrated, and it didn’t take long for some to start accusing Rizwan of being “insecure” and holding back the young talent.

Things got even more interesting during the third match against the Dolphins. This time, Bismillah Khan took the gloves while Rizwan played as a pure batter. Once again, Haseebullah was benched. And, of course, this decision only fueled the fire, with fans openly questioning why he was being sidelined.

why-is-haseebullah-khan-missing-from-champions-cup

Sarfaraz Ahmed Breaks the Silence

The questions were finally answered by someone who is not part of Markhors management. During a mid-match interview, Sarfaraz Ahmed, mentor of the Dolphins team, shed some light on the situation. While talking about the wicket-keeping scene in Pakistan, Sarfaraz revealed that Haseebullah wasn’t benched for no reason—he was actually unfit.

“Wicket-keepers are coming up for sure,” Sarfaraz said, trying to calm the rising storm. “I don’t think people know this, but Haseebullah got unfit, unfortunately.”

Read More: Shahnawaz Dahani Reacts After Getting Smashed By Babar Azam

That little revelation cleared up some of the confusion. But even though it explained why Haseebullah wasn’t playing, it also reminded everyone just how competitive the wicket-keeper scene is in Pakistan right now.

The Rising Stars of Pakistan’s Wicket-Keeping

Sarfaraz didn’t stop at just clearing up the Haseebullah situation. He took the moment to shine a light on other young wicket-keepers like Mohammad Haris, Saad Baig, and Rohail Nazir, showing confidence in their potential to represent Pakistan in the near future.

“Mohammad Haris, Saad Baig, and Rohail Nazir are there as well,” Sarfaraz added. “These players have been performing consistently in domestic cricket, so I’m hopeful they can represent Pakistan in the future.”

why-pcb-did-not-allow-mohammad-haris-to-play-bpl

It’s true—Mohammad Haris has been leading the Stallions, with big names like Babar Azam and Shan Masood in his squad. Rohail Nazir, on the other hand, is part of Shaheen Afridi’s Lions but hasn’t played a match yet. As for Saad Baig? He’s out of the Champions Cup after failing to pass a fitness test.

For now, the talk surrounding Haseebullah’s absence has been put to rest. But the bigger conversation about who will be Pakistan’s future wicket-keeper? That’s still wide open. With so much young talent coming up, the competition is only going to get more intense.

Chikkar Returns! Sindh Censor Board Unleashes Full Version

The viewers who first watched the program Chikkar gave a positive response to the program.

The highly awaited feature film Chikkar is scheduled for re-release in major towns such as Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. This unusual chance arose after the Sindh Censor Board accepted the film’s edited and unmuted version. The re-release represents an uncommon scenario in the film industry wherein a film is altered after release to enhance its artistic vision.

Speaking to the director, Zaheeruddin, he said, “Art is never perfect. But still, it is rare for a film to be released and then be revised again to achieve a further level of refinement. In Chikkar’s case, although we received a highly positive response from our viewers, I still felt that there was something more than could be done, some tweaks that could elevate the film beyond the original vision. And so, after shooting some additional scenes, and further grading the film, I finally created a version that is even more intelligent, and hopefully satisfies the audience even more.”

Pakistan’s car industry is growing fast due to new government support for local manufacturing and the arrival of foreign brands. That said, the choices for buying a fresh vehicle are fairly slim. The second-hand car market, meanwhile, presents a broad selection of cost-effective cars spanning assorted needs. Buying reliable cars to fit one’s budget becomes achievable through thorough research and rigorous inspection.

Here are six top second-hand cars in Pakistan suited for first-time drivers:

Mohammad Rizwan: A Scorer Who Shines Only In Defeats?

mohammad-rizwan-favourite-cricketer-of-ihsanullah-mohammad-rizwan-a-scorer-who-shines-only-in-defeats

Mohammad Rizwan is a polarizing figure in the current Pakistan cricket setup; he divides opinion like no other. Some believe he is the only batter consistently scoring runs over the past year, a period during which the team as a whole has struggled.

Conversely, others think Rizwan is selfish, scoring runs only for his personal benefit rather than for the team. There are also claims that Rizwan is conspiring behind the scenes to become the next captain.

In a previous article, I discussed whether Rizwan is the right choice for captaincy. Today, I will delve into the argument that Rizwan only scores in losing causes and does not contribute to the team’s victories.

Danish Kaneria’s Criticism

Recently, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria threw a spotlight on this issue. In a recent interview, Kaneria questioned Rizwan’s performance in crucial matches. He pointed to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 clash against India as a prime example.

Pakistan struggled to chase down a modest target of 120 runs, managing only 113 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer with 31 runs off 44 balls but failed to steer the team to victory.

Source: Cricinfo

Kaneria criticized Rizwan, saying, “He doesn’t score runs when it matters, that’s the only problem. In the T20 World Cup, when Rizwan was on strike, Rohit Sharma deliberately brought in Jasprit Bumrah into the attack because he knew that he would get him out. It was very obvious.”

Analyzing Rizwan’s Numbers

Let’s break down Rizwan’s performance to get a clearer picture. In Test cricket, Rizwan has scored 1910 runs in 32 matches, averaging 44.41. Out of these matches, Pakistan lost 16, drew five, and won only 11.

While it’s clear that his most runs came in losses, it’s worth noting that his average in victories is 47.50, and in drawn matches, it spikes to 88. This suggests that Rizwan has played a significant role in either securing wins or saving matches from defeat.

Source: Cricinfo

In One-Day Internationals (ODIs), Rizwan has amassed 2088 runs from 74 games, with an average of 40.15. Pakistan has won 36 games, lost 36, and tied one.

His average in victorious games is a solid 60.44, while in losses, it drops to 30. This indicates that Rizwan’s contributions are crucial in wins and not just in losing causes.

T20 Internationals (T20Is) is where Rizwan faces the most criticism. With 3313 runs from 102 matches at an average of 48.72, Rizwan’s performance is notable.

He has scored 2351 runs in victories, averaging 69.14, compared to 898 runs in losses at an average of 28.96. His strike rate in wins is 132.15, while in losses, it is 115.57.

Rizwan’s Role In The Team

Rizwan is not an aggressive match-winner like Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, or Fakhar Zaman. He is more of a clinical player, akin to Misbah-ul-Haq or Kane Williamson, who keeps the scoreboard ticking and adapts his hitting according to the team’s needs.

While his strike rate may be a point of contention, it is unjust to label him as selfish or claim he only scores in losing causes. The numbers tell a different story.

Sony is finally releasing PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) officially. The date of the product’s release is set on November 7th, and pre-orders begin from September 26th. Powerful GPU for Better Performance

The PS5 Pro boasts an improved GPU. It delivers twice the power of the PS5’s regular version. The Pro uses AMD’s recent RDNA 3 or RDNA 4 architecture and thus supports 8K gaming and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). It promises gamers a fluid and absorbing gameplay experience. By incorporating a GPU which operates at 2.8 GHz and a CPU that boosts up to 3.85 GHz, the PS5 Pro is geared to perform even high-demand games without struggle.

Further, the console offers backward compatibility with over 8,500 titles from PS4, optimized by Game Boost for superior performance on older games.

Compatibility with Old Accessories

All PS5 accessories already owned, like DualSense Edge controllers and Pulse Elite headsets, work perfectly with the PS5 Pro. You won’t need to purchase accessories since buying your way up to a Pro PS5 is hassle-free and inexpensive.

The PS5 Pro is therefore one of the most visionary consoles made currently because it supports 8K gaming. It has Wi-Fi 7, and internet connectivity will be fast and stable in most cases, which reduces chances of lag during online games. It can also create custom 3D audio profiles where users can customize over their sound experience.

Rashid Latif Sounds the Alarm: Is Pakistan Cricket in the ICU?

rashid-latif-sounds-the-alarm-is-pakistan-cricket-in-the-icu

Pakistan cricket is going through a tough time, and Rashid Latif, who is known for his blunt remarks, has made that very clear. The former Pakistan captain has voiced his concerns about the national team’s struggles.

A Rough Patch for Pakistan Cricket

Pakistan’s performance in last one year has been dismal. They exited both the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup during the group stages. They drew a home T20I series against a weakened New Zealand side, which, in hindsight, was only a prelude to what was coming next.

ahmed-shehzad-blasts-pakistan-after-bangladesh-defeat

But what really stung was the Test series against Bangladesh. Pakistan had never lost a Test match to Bangladesh before, but in a shocking turn of events, they were whitewashed 2-0 on their own turf. This humiliating loss has sparked outrage among fans and former players alike.

“Pakistan Cricket is in the ICU”

Rashid Latif, known for his straightforward opinions, didn’t mince words when discussing the state of affairs. In a video on social media, Latif declared, “Pakistan cricket is currently in the ICU. They will need a professional doctor.”

Read More: Basit Ali Backs Mohammad Rizwan As The Future Pakistan Captain

He didn’t stop there. The former wicketkeeper-batter expressed frustration over the constant changes within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and emphasized the need for professional expertise—not just in cricketing skills but in other critical areas like physical training and financial management.

“They need technically sound professionals to run things, both physically and financially,” Latif said. “Trainers and many other things are required. You can see there are many problems, whether it’s on the field or off the field.”

pakistan-squad-skips-dinner-in-tears-after-india-loss

Latif’s point about the need for professionals goes beyond just the coaching staff. He’s calling for a complete overhaul, from physical trainers to financial experts, to help stabilize the team both on and off the field.

Pakistan is set to face England in a three-match Test series next month. The series begins on October 7 in Multan, and it’s no secret that England dominated the last time they visited Pakistan, sweeping the Test series 3-0 in 2022.

With Pakistan’s recent performance against Bangladesh still fresh in everyone’s mind, this upcoming series feels like an uphill battle. The team has a lot to prove, not just to the fans, but to themselves.

Mark Chapman Names Pakistani Legends As His Childhood Heroes

mark-chapman-names-pakistani-legends-as-his-childhood-heroes

New Zealand all-rounder Mark Chapman, who has become an integral part of New Zealand’s white-ball squad, recently opened up about his cricketing inspirations growing up—and it turns out, two of them were none other than Pakistan’s star all-rounders, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq.

In a candid chat on a sports podcast, Chapman was asked about the players he followed as a kid. His response came as a pleasant surprise to many.

Mark Chapman Reveals His Heroes

“Growing up, I certainly have fond memories of watching Shahid Afridi. You can’t look past him,” Chapman said. “Everyone sort of held their breath when he walked out to bat.”

And honestly, who wouldn’t? Afridi, known as “Boom Boom,” was one of those players who could change the game in a matter of moments. Whether it was his explosive batting or his crafty leg-spin, Afridi always had fans on the edge of their seats.

But Afridi wasn’t the only Pakistani player Chapman admired. “Another name is Abdul Razzaq. I really enjoyed watching him, particularly his batting,” he shared.

Just like Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq was also known for his destructive batting display. He was a good enough bowler, who can swing the ball at will, but he made a name for himself with his batting exploits, leaving a lasting impression on fans across the globe.

Both Afridi and Razzaq were known for their ability to turn a game around single-handedly. Their performances were instrumental in many of Pakistan’s most famous victories, including the historic 2009 ICC T20 World Cup win.

Afridi, in particular, was the hero of that tournament, being named Player of the Match in both the semi-final and final.

Chapman didn’t stop at the legends of the past. He also took the time to praise Pakistan’s current white-ball captain, Babar Azam. “You know, he is a wealth of knowledge. He’s up there in the world with some of the best batters,” Chapman said.

Aakash Chopra ‘Doubtful’ About India Visiting Pakistan for Champions Trophy

Indian cricketer-turned analyst Aakash Chopra has raised questions about the possibility of India travelling to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The eight-team event is scheduled to be played in Pakistan and all the participants have confirmed their participation, except India.

The Uncertainty Around India’s Participation

Speaking on Raj Shamani’s YouTube podcast, Chopra raised serious doubts about India’s participation in the Champions Trophy, especially if the tournament is hosted in Pakistan.

“Let’s be honest. The chances are too low,” Chopra stated bluntly. He hinted that while the Champions Trophy might go ahead in Pakistan, India’s involvement could depend on the country’s government giving the green light—and that seems like a long shot.

The Hybrid Model: A Possible Solution?

He suggested the hybrid model, like the Asia Cup 2023, where India played their matches in Sri Lanka. It’s worth noting that Indian media has previously reported that the BCCI wants their matches to be played in Dubai or Sri Lanka.

“India can play their games in Dubai,” Chopra said, adding that the decision ultimately lies with the Indian government. “The chances of getting the nod from the government aren’t too bright,” he noted, pointing to recent geopolitical tensions as a major factor.

What Happens If India Doesn’t Participate?

Aakash Chopra also highlighted the financial setback for the Champions Trophy if BCCI pulls out of the tournament. He stressed that India is the driving force behind cricket economy and their absence will be a big loss.

“India’s presence is driving the (cricket) economy,” he said. “What will you do with the tournament if India doesn’t participate? How will you generate the money?”

If India doesn’t participate, the tournament’s financial and logistical future could be in serious trouble. However, if a hybrid model is adopted, it could keep both cricket boards happy—at least for the time being.

Karachi’s New Traffic Plan Unveiled: What You Need to Know

Source: News INTL

Muslims around the globe, each year, celebrate Rabiul Awwal’s twelfth day to honor Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace Be Upon Him) birth. This event holds grand processions across Karachi, the most populated city in Pakistan, in line with the Eid Miladun Nabi festivities.

Planned Routes and Street Blockades

This Tuesday foresees three main processions passing through MA Jinnah Road—an important city life-line. Consequently, to enhance processional flow, MA Jinnah Road along with neighboring streets will be blocked off for the entire day.

Principal Diversions for Traffic

Vehicles approaching from M Arkiani Chowk will be rerouted down Chowrangi Road, under the directives of Karachi traffic police. This decision aims at minimizing traffic gridlock and retaining order amidst large gatherings of worshippers joining the processions.

Vehicles coming from Empress Market, another notable point, will be directed towards Zaibunnisa Street. Likewise, traffic from Aram Bagh via Sharea Liaquat will be detoured towards Shaheen Complex to keep the procession path uncongested.

Detour Routes for Regular Commuters

Regular users of University Road will be led to Kashmir Road through Jail Flyover as a measure to bypass usual heavy-traffic routes. Commuters heading towards People’s Chowrangi are asked to use Shahra e Quaideen or Corridor-III, while vehicles from Guru Mandir—a busy crossroad—will be directed towards Central Jail. Additionally, vehicles from Lasbela will be barred from entering MA Jinnah Road. The police plead with motorists to organize their travels before time and follow these detour routes to avoid any hold-ups.

Fostering Public Safety and Governmental Initiatives

The city’s governing body, together with traffic police, is striving to confirm a safe and organized flow of events planned for the day. On the other hand, a public conversation about declaring Rabiul Awwal 11th day as a holiday is sparking attention, backed by political figures like Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.

This diversion plan is a crucial part of the city’s efforts to balance public celebration with safety. As the day approaches, citizens are encouraged to follow the police’s guidance for a smooth and respectful observance of this sacred day.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali supported wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan as the next captain of Pakistan’s white-ball team in place of Babar Azam.

The current white-ball captain Babar Azam has been under fire for his batting and leadership. Under him Pakistan knocked out from group stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 and t20 World Cup 2024.

Many fans and critics have attributed the Green Shirts’ disastrous performance to Babar’s captaincy and called for his removal as captain.

Basit Ali’s Support For Rizwan

Basit Ali posted a video on his official YouTube channel, highlighting the leadership capabilities of Mohammad Rizwan, who is leading table-toppers Markhors.

According to Basit, Rizwan displayed a masterclass in game management. His ability to read pitch conditions and adapt on the fly is impressive.

“The way [Mohammad] Rizwan led the side, he proved there is no better skipper than him. He has shown it with his captaincy,” said Basit Ali.

“He read the pitch; it is a big thing. Even Babar can’t do that. I am not even talking about Shan [Masood]. If you don’t make him captain at this time, then it is a loss for Pakistan. This is the best time you should make Rizwan the captain.”

It’s worth noting that Mohammad Rizwan has been considered as the only reliable option for Pakistan’s captaincy, owing to his experience in domestic cricket and Pakistan Super League (PSL). He led Multan Sultans to three consecutive PSL finals, winning one of them.
