Much like the movies, this year’s looks turned heads and didn’t fail to create a lasting impression. From bold couture to timeless cuts, here are some of the best 2025 BAFTA red-carpet looks.

Selena Gomez in Custom Schiaparelli

Miss Selena Gomez was here to steal the show in her custom Schiaparelli couture dress that dripped with crystal to match her sparkler (and even more diamonds from Tiffany & Co.) With a bare neckline, stylish Erin Walsh left it on the dress to make the entire statement. Gomez paired the dress with clean girl makeup and a sleek bun.

Saoirse Ronan in Custom Louis Vuitton

Saoirse’s look was a rather refreshing one. It was perhaps the biggest nod she made to her character in The Outrun, referencing her dip-dyed hair in the film. Ronan graced the red carpet with an icy blue Louis Vuitton gown that had a sculpted neckline paired with a glossy wrap. The bold red lips and subtle makeup enhanced the look.

Mohammad Yousuf Picks His Favorites for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

why-did-mohammad-yousuf-resign-as-pakistan-selector-mohammad-yousuf-picks-icc-champions-trophy-2025-favorites

Legendary Pakistani batter Mohammad Yousuf has thrown his weight behind New Zealand and India as the most balanced sides for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. But don’t worry, Pakistan fans—he still believes the home advantage could tilt the scales in our favor.

New Zealand and India: The Teams to Beat?

In a recent interview, Yousuf didn’t shy away from praising the Kiwis. “For me, New Zealand looks like the most balanced side,” he said. And let’s be honest—they do.

With three top-notch pacers, reliable spinners, and a batting order that runs deep, the Black Caps seem ready for any challenge the subcontinent pitches might throw at them.

India, too, earned a nod from Yousuf. “They also have a balanced squad,” he noted. We’ve seen how lethal India can be, especially in high-pressure ICC tournaments. Balanced, experienced, and hungry—India will be a force to reckon with.

Home Turf Advantage for Pakistan

While Yousuf acknowledged the strengths of New Zealand and India, his faith in Pakistan remained unshaken.

“Pakistan has the edge because they are familiar with the conditions,” he pointed out. And he’s not wrong. Playing at home isn’t just about knowing the pitches—it’s about feeling the crowd’s energy, embracing the familiar surroundings, and soaking in the love from fans.

But Yousuf had a word of caution too. “They must play calculated cricket throughout the tournament,” he added. So, no reckless shots, no unnecessary risks—just smart, steady cricket.

Yousuf’s Game Plan for Pakistan

Mohammad Yousuf didn’t just stop at predictions and praises. He had some solid advice for the Pakistani team. “We need to find the gaps against spinners, rotate the strike, and minimize dot balls,” he suggested.

Sounds simple, but anyone who watched the tri-series final against New Zealand knows how challenging this can be. Their spinners had us on the back foot, and that’s a problem Pakistan needs to fix—fast.

Pitch conditions will play a huge role in determining match outcomes. Yousuf believes that if the pitch is double-paced, a score of 300 would be competitive. But if it’s a flat track? “Teams should aim for scores between 350 and 400,” he predicted. High-scoring thrillers, anyone?

Sarfaraz Ahmed Reflects on Friendship Between India-Pakistan Cricketers

pakistan-stance-after-india-champions-trophy-refusal-fusion-formula-pcb-to-release-additional-champions-trophy-2025-tickets-sarfaraz-ahmed-saqlain-mushtaq

The rivalry between India and Pakistan in cricket is intense, but off the field, the players share a bond that often goes unnoticed. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed recently shed light on this evolving camaraderie, highlighting how recent tournaments have brought players from both sides closer.

Growing Bonds Through Tournaments

Sarfaraz acknowledged that while the absence of bilateral series has limited interactions, frequent encounters in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup have strengthened relationships. “Matches these days, especially back-to-back games in tournaments, have allowed players to form strong bonds,” Sarfaraz shared.

He highlighted the mutual respect that exists between the players from Pakistan and India. “It’s common to see players like Shoaib Malik, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni sharing light moments after matches. They sit together, chat, and enjoy each other’s company,” Sarfaraz revealed, emphasizing that cricket has always fostered friendships despite political tensions.

A Special Moment with MS Dhoni

One of Sarfaraz’s fondest memories is the famous picture of his son, Abdullah, sitting on MS Dhoni’s lap before the 2017 Champions Trophy final. Recalling the moment, Sarfaraz said, “My family friends were visiting, and Dhoni came downstairs. It felt like the perfect time to capture the moment with my three-month-old son.”

Dhoni’s reaction was heartwarming. After learning Abdullah was Sarfaraz’s son, Dhoni expressed his joy at meeting the little one. It’s these simple, genuine interactions that highlight the human side of cricket’s biggest rivalry.

Learning from a Legend

Sarfaraz Ahmed also shared insights from his conversations with Dhoni, particularly during the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy at The Oval.

“I asked Dhoni how he balanced being a wicketkeeper, batsman, and captain. His advice helped me immensely,” Sarfaraz said, praising Dhoni’s humility and willingness to help fellow cricketers.

While the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry continues to thrill fans worldwide, it’s heartening to see that off the field, players share genuine friendships, proving that cricket truly is more than just a game.

Haris Rauf Declared Fit for Champions Trophy Opener Against New Zealand: Reports

rashid-latif-wants-haris-rauf-in-south-africa-tests-pcb-considering-to-reinstate-haris-rauf-central-contract

Pakistan fans can breathe a sigh of relief—Haris Rauf is fit and ready for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opener against New Zealand on Wednesday. After being sidelined with a muscular strain in his lower chest wall, the fiery pacer is back just in time for the big stage.

Injury Scare Behind Him

Haris picked up the injury during Pakistan’s first match of the tri-nation series against New Zealand. His absence left a void, with Akif Javed stepping in as a replacement. But now, a source close to the team has confirmed that the speedster has made a full recovery.

“Haris is completely fine now. The rest after the first match of the tri-series helped him recover well,” the source revealed.

The good news doesn’t stop there—no other players in the squad have fitness concerns heading into the Champions Trophy.

Amir’s Warning Raises Eyebrows

However, not everyone is convinced that Haris is ready. Mohammad Amir, a former Pakistan pacer, recently expressed concern over Haris’s fitness.

“If Haris Rauf has a side strain, he cannot recover fully before six weeks. If it’s just stiffness, that’s different. But a grade one or two side strain takes at least six weeks to heal, and then rehab begins,” Amir explained.

Drawing from his own experience, Amir recalled suffering a similar injury during the PSL a few years ago.

“If it’s a grade one or two side strain, I don’t think Haris can play the Champions Trophy,” he added.

Is It Worth the Risk?

Amir didn’t mince words when he called it “foolish” to risk Haris’s career for just a few matches.

“It will be foolish to risk his career for three matches because he won’t be able to give his 100 per cent,” Amir stated bluntly.

This has sparked debate among fans and analysts alike. Should Pakistan take the risk? Or is it better to prioritize Haris’s long-term fitness, even if it means missing out on his pace during the Champions Trophy?

Saudi Arabia Confirms Alcohol Ban for FIFA World Cup 2034

Saudi Arabia Confirms Alcohol Ban for FIFA World Cup 2034

Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom has confirmed that alcohol will not be allowed at the 2034 FIFA World Cup. In an interview with LBC, Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud stated that alcohol would not be sold anywhere during the tournament, including hotels.

“At the moment, we don’t allow alcohol,” Prince Khalid said. “Plenty of fun can be had without alcohol—it’s not 100% necessary. If you want to drink after you leave, you’re welcome to, but at the moment we don’t have alcohol.”

Read more: Pakistan Football Federation Faces Suspension From FIFA

Asked whether fans would be able to drink in hotels, as was the case at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he replied: “No, there is no alcohol at all. Rather like our weather, it’s a dry country.” He added, “Everyone has their own culture. We’re happy to accommodate people within the boundaries of our culture, but we don’t want to change our culture for someone else.”

The ban follows similar restrictions at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the sale of alcohol in stadiums was reversed two days before the tournament began.

However, fans were still able to buy alcohol in designated fan zones and hotel bars. Saudi Arabia has faced criticism over its human rights record, with campaigners accusing the country of “sportswashing” through major sporting investments.

Amnesty International has warned that hosting the tournament could lead to widespread rights violations. Same-sex relations are illegal in Saudi Arabia and being transgender is not recognised. However, Prince Khalid said: “We will welcome everyone in Saudi. It is not a Saudi event; it is a world event and to a large extent, we will welcome everyone who wants to come.”

MrBeast Shares Proof of $10M Prize Transfer to the Winner

YouTube star Jimmy “MrBeast” recently posted a picture of the Beast Games reality show’s prize money, which was allegedly sent via bank wire transfer to its winner, revealed in the tenth and final episode. The champion, Jeffrey Randall Allen, also known as Player 831, received the promised $10 million prize.

Although the image had the recipient’s name blurred to prevent spoilers for those who hadn’t watched the show yet, other details clearly showed the amount transferred from a commercial checking account, a type of account typically used by businesses and corporations.

At the beginning of Beast Games, the initial prize for the winner was set at $5 million. However, in the tenth episode, one of the six remaining contestants chose to take a risk with a coin flip that would either double the winnings or eliminate him from the competition.

Fortunately for the contestant, Player 974, the coin landed in his favour, doubling the grand prize to an astounding $10 million. Though Player 974 did not win the competition, his gamble significantly benefited the eventual winner, Jeffrey Allen.

In addition to the $10 million awarded to the last contestant standing, numerous other participants who didn’t make it to the end received rewards in different ways. According to MrBeast, a total of $20 million was distributed during the filming of Beast Games.

The first season of Beast Games was packed with dramatic and intense moments. One notable incident involved Player 952, who won an island valued at $1.8 million, accusing Player 539 of racism during the game for selecting three African women as the contestants he liked the least.

DNA Test Confirms Mustafa’s Blood Found in Armughan’s House

DNA Test Confirms Mustafa’s Blood Found in Armughan’s House

New details have emerged in the abduction and murder case of Mustafa Amir, a BBA student who went missing on January 6. His burnt body was found inside a car near the Hub checkpost on Friday night. Police confirmed that the body had been set on fire along with the vehicle. The case took a serious turn when the prime suspect, Armughan, opened fire on the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) team during a raid at his residence in Karachi’s DHA.

Authorities revealed that Mustafa and Armughan were friends and had a heated argument on New Year’s night. Following the dispute, Armughan allegedly threatened to harm Mustafa and his female friend. On January 6, he called Mustafa and reportedly subjected him to violence. Police confirmed that the female friend left the country on January 12 and efforts were being made through Interpol to contact her as her statement was crucial for the investigation. After the body was found, murder charges were added to the case.

During a raid at Armughan’s house, police discovered blood stains, which were later matched with Mustafa’s mother’s DNA sample. Authorities also recovered Mustafa’s mobile phone and other evidence from the residence. The South deputy inspector general stated that this evidence was a turning point in the investigation. However, the investigation faced challenges as the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) denied police remand for Armughan, making it difficult for the AVCC to proceed. The police have now approached the Sindh High Court, arguing that sending the suspect to jail before completing the investigation goes against the principles of justice.

Police confirmed that a second suspect, Shiraz, who worked for Armughan, was also involved in planning the murder and disposing of the body. The authorities are now seeking approval for exhuming Mustafa’s body to gather more evidence. Despite the obstacles in the investigation, police remain determined to bring justice to Mustafa Amir’s family.

The update follows an oath-taking ceremony earlier today, where Chief Justice Afridi administered the oath to six new Supreme Court judges. Those sworn in include Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, former chief justice of the Balochistan High Court; Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, ex-chief justice of the Sindh High Court; Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court; and Justice Aamer Farooq, previously chief justice of the Islamabad High Court. Sindh High Court’s Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Peshawar High Court’s Justice Shakeel Ahmed also took their oaths. Additionally, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb was sworn in as an acting judge of the Supreme Court.

The ceremony was attended by Supreme Court judges, the Attorney General, senior lawyers, journalists, judicial staff and representatives from the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Pakistan Bar Council.

These appointments were finalised in a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday. However, the session saw a boycott by two senior Supreme Court judges and two opposition party members. The 13-member JCP, led by Chief Justice Afridi, approved the nominations by a majority vote, as stated on the Supreme Court’s website.

Pakistan Hopes Cricket will Boosts its Image

Pakistan Hopes Cricket will Boosts its Image

Pakistan is hosting its first major multi-country cricket tournament in nearly 30 years – the Champions Trophy. This event is seen as a big opportunity to improve the country’s image and attract tourists and investors. The tournament comes at a time when Pakistan faces several challenges, including political instability, as former Prime Minister and cricket star Imran Khan is currently in jail. However, the government and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) believe this tournament, featuring the top eight one-day international teams, can significantly boost the country’s reputation.

“The return of global cricket is not just about hosting matches,” said PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the country’s interior minister and security chief. “It is about restoring pride, igniting national passion and giving back to the millions who have stood by Pakistan cricket.” Cricket is hugely popular in South Asia, especially in India, where it generates a lot of money. Pakistan’s security situation has been a concern since the US war in Afghanistan began in 2001. A 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore led to a halt in international cricket tours to Pakistan.

Significant Improvements Seen

Security has gotten much better in major cities since 2018, and international teams have been visiting again. The Champions Trophy is the first major tournament in Pakistan since 1996. Teams from New Zealand, England, Australia, Afghanistan, South Africa, Bangladesh and Pakistan will participate. India will play its matches in Dubai, including its highly anticipated game against Pakistan. The country is also working on economic recovery, supported by a $7 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Naqvi described organising the tournament as a “monumental task” that required significant improvements in logistics, from roads and hotels to security. He added that visiting teams are happy with the arrangements, and the ICC has given the PCB’s security plan “unanimous approval.”

“Players are treated as state dignitaries for enhanced security,” said Shahzada Sultan, the deputy police chief for Punjab province, where two of the three venues are located. For the Champions Trophy, police in Lahore, Karachi and the cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have deployed over 20,000 officers, including snipers, on rooftops along important routes. Hotels, stadiums and airports will have heavy security, as will the roads connecting them.

MrBeast’s Beast Games Winner: Who Took Home the $10M Prize?

MrBeast’s Beast Games Winner: Who Took Home the $10M Prize?

MrBeast’s Beast Games has officially crowned its first-ever winner and the historic $10 million grand prize has gone to Jeffrey Allen. The high-stakes competition, which started with 1,000 contestants, pushed players through several intense challenges, eliminations and strategic moves until only one remained standing.

The Road to Victory

Throughout Beast Games, competitors faced multiple elimination challenges, all designed to test their strategy, endurance and ability to adapt under pressure. While MrBeast dangled self-elimination bribes along the way, only 85 contestants opted to take the money and leave, allowing the most determined players to advance.

Originally set at $5 million, the final prize pool was doubled to $10 million after a contestant correctly guessed the outcome of a coin flip in Episode 9. This twist raised the stakes going into the grand finale, where only six players remained.

The Final Showdown

In the thrilling final episode, the six remaining contestants faced four intense challenges that whittled the field down to just two: Jeffrey Allen (contestant #831) and Twana Barnett (#830). The ultimate test involved a rotating table holding 10 briefcases, one of which contained the life-changing $10 million check.

Barnett was tasked with shuffling the briefcases while Allen had his eyes closed. But Allen, known for his meticulous strategy throughout the competition, skillfully asked Barnett a series of tricky questions to read her reactions. With calculated confidence, he locked in his choice on his first try—and to everyone’s astonishment, it was the correct briefcase.

A Win with a Purpose
