Meet The Designer Who Creates Works Of Art From Human Hair

Our hair is fascinating as we braid it, style it, and cherish it. However, once it leaves our heads, they turn into a creep factor hanging onto the soap as well as, rummaging through the floors and ending up in the landfills. But did you ever think that you could create art from that hair?

The Hair Initiative by Dutch Designer

The architects have partnered with the Green Salon Collective, a U.K. company that takes salon waste like hair and recycles it into wool alternatives, particleboard-like sheets, and sausage-shaped floating barriers that absorb oil spills.

Dutch designer, Sanne Visser, described the material via video conference as being “very lightweight, flexible, oil absorbent, high in tensile strength — and it doesn’t require any extra energy, land, or water to grow.”

Visser is showing a new installation for London Design Festival (LDF) this month named ‘Extended’ after finishing a residence at London’s Design Museum to investigate recycling human hair. The artwork shows eight mirrors suspending from ropes made from hair that was gathered from West London barbershops

She plans to eventually find a home for the art pieces in each of the eight salons and barbershops she collected hair from.

The Pareid Art Installation

GSC has also collaborated with architecture and design firm Pareid on an installation. The installation will be on display at this year’s LDF. It consists of two linked columns covered in hair and is located in a salon in West London. The project named ‘Chiaroscuro 1′ is made of felted hair and used as a surface covering.

Deborah Lopez, Pareid’s co-founder, shares how the process can only work with hair that is longer than 5 centimetres (about 2 inches).

“As a textile, [hair] is good because it can be used as acoustic material or insulation,” she says,

“The firm has also been testing it as an aggregate in harder materials. Much like straw in adobe bricks, hair could be used as fibre reinforcement,” she added.

The part of the period art portfolio includes dog leashes, netted bags, shoulder straps, and swings all Made of human hair.

“We are drawn to things that might be considered ugly or unappealing at first,” said Pareid. “Waste like human hair possesses a kind of icky quality — it has that confrontational element to it.”

Afro Hair Initiative

In 2020, french designer Alix Bizet addressed the issues of racialized identity, community experience, and marginalized beauty.

“I discovered, as a Black person, in society, there is good hair and bad hair — that’s where the project started. Looking at this discarded material, we can learn so much about society,” she said.

The collection features crown-like headpieces made from afro hair. The representation was done by people talking about their personal and professional experiences of afro hair in a series of podcast interviews.

Bizet also worked on a series of projects from afro hair named “Exchange” (2016), “Hair Matter(s)” (2016) and “Hair by Hood” (2017). As part of her collection, she made garments including hoodies from felted human hair. Her collection sparked discussions about how culture and identity are related to hair, and the role that hair salons play in communities.

WHAT A NIGHT! Babar Azam Silences Critics with a Master Class!

Babar Azam Silences Critics with a Master Class

Karachi’s national stadium was abuzz last night with loud roars and cheers from the crowd, celebrating the return of Babar Azam in full colours. The chants emanating from the stadium were so loud that one could hear it kilometres away, and why not? This was more than a match won; Babar Azam silenced his critics with a magnificent century in the 2nd T20I against England.

Ever since, the first game of the Asia Cup, Babar Azam has been criticized heavily for his low score, lack of intent, and low strike rate, and the volume of that criticism has kept increasing with every game. Babar Azam accumulated only 68 runs from 6 outings at the strike rate of 107.93.

Although the whole Pakistan lineup was criticized over questionable team selection and low strike rates, captain Babar was in the line of fire because he failed to fulfill the expectations of the nation.

Strike rate mongers questioned his intent and demanded his demotion in the batting order to accommodate an aggressive batter at the top, who can play with ‘right intent’.

As Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed, said “These two openers are not going to win you tournaments. Take the two openers (Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan), the number one and number two players in the world. But such a player should know what to do”.

However, the team management, did not press any panic button over the criticism and continued with Babar Azam and Rizwan at the top in the series against England and have already announced them as openers for the upcoming T20 World Cup. They also backed the players who participated in the Asia Cup, and almost kept the same team for England series and T20 World Cup.

Babar Azam was also questioned about the criticism in a press conference, and he looked very confident about bouncing back, saying the team doesn’t bother about all the noise outside the dressing room.

“We don’t listen to those from the outside sniping. There’ll always be criticism, and if you don’t do well, people are waiting to pounce. The fans always support us” said Azam.

Babar Azam showed glimpses of excellence in the first T20i against England, but could not capitalize on the good start. But in the second game, he walked down the ground with the intent to chase down the mammoth total of 200.

At the innings break, a target of 200 looked like a stiff task, even at a ground where average scores are high and three chases out of five are successful. Many fans have already lost hope there, considering the low strike rates of openers and unreliability of the middle order.

Babar started the chase slow and steady, while Rizwan kept taking risks, surviving twice, but as the saying goes, ‘luck favors the brave’, Babar brought up his half-century off 39 balls, and with eight overs remaining, the required rate, climbed to 12.

This looked tough, with two accumulators at the crease, however, when the going gets tough, the tough get going, and Babar Azam turned the beast mode on right there and he took control of the situation. After a lean patch in Asia Cup, Babar was back with a roar.

He hit English bowlers all over the park and the crowd, overjoyed with the return of the King to his kingdom, began chanting “Babar, Babar!”

The whole atmosphere was buzzing as he nudged Curran into the covers for the single that made him the first man to hit multiple T20I hundreds for Pakistan, only 23 balls after acknowledging the applause for his fifty. Karachi stood to celebrate the masterful innings by Lahore’s favorite son.

After that, the match was almost over, they just had to fulfill the formality of completing the target, as the English team has already bowed down to the onslaught of Babar Azam, supported by Rizwan, who was overshadowed by Babar Azam’s masterclass.

Babar Azam ended the innings at 110 runs off 66 balls, with eleven fours and five sixes, while Rizwan played an equally good knock of 88 runs off 51 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes.

Pakistan chased the total in the final over without losing any wicket, breaking the record for the highest successful chase in T20 history without losing a wicket. The previous highest was 184 by Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Lions in 2017, while the previous best in T20Is was 169 by New Zealand against Pakistan in 2016.

Babar Azam has proven to the world that he is arguably the best batter across the globe. Even though he was criticized for his slow starts and intent to accelerate, he threw all those narratives out of the park last night.

YouTube Introduces Cash for Creators to Confront TikTok

With its announcement to begin paying short-form video producers in a manner akin to – but less profitable than – the ad revenue shares it has been giving creators for long videos, for more than a decade, YouTube now has put a down payment on its future. The business is also taking steps to make music licensing for its producers simpler, alleviating a significant source of frustration for many.

The objective of the recent announcements is to simultaneously counter TikTok’s advances and reassert YouTube’s position as the greatest home for future Jason Derulos who may use it as a launching pad to expand their fan bases and career chances. YouTube Partner programme’s expansion will include makers of YouTube Shorts, providing them with a dependable revenue stream in a field that has not had any before.

The firm will also provide emerging creators access to a set of audience interaction tools if their work obtains less views. The goal is to make it easier for them to join YouTube’s comprehensive partner programme more swiftly and to stay on the platform rather than switching to rivals.

How many additional participants the initiatives may bring into its partner’s programme was kept a secret by the executives. They made it clear, however, that they hope the efforts attract a sizable new set of talent while offering existing talent new opportunities to experiment, for example, with issues unrelated to those that made them famous.

Sharing income is YouTube’s most effective countermeasure against TikTok as well as its most tried-and-true strategy, dating back more than a decade. The Chinese-based site, which gained popularity in the US during the epidemic and has since had a significant effect on pop culture and music, currently boasts more than 1 billion users who watch nonstop streams of 15–60 second-long video clips.

In reaction to TikTok’s explosive growth, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram all introduced short-form services that have experienced similar growth. Shorts get 30 billion views every month from 1.5 billion people who are signed in to YouTube.

For some of its biggest short-form creators, YouTube already had a Shorts Fund, a $100 million pool of revenue designed to incentivize creators to try the format in its early days. According to Walpert Levy, YouTube’s Vice President, 40% of individuals receiving payment through the Shorts Fund have never previously received a cheque from YouTube. And the move to shorter videos is significant for YouTube, if not for the producers who have had to master a variety of platforms and formats in order to increase their income.

Short-form advertising differs from longer-form advertising. A 14-second short cannot have a 30-second pre-roll advertisement attached to it and expect viewers to watch it. As a result, the financial system is also distinct.

All short-form profits will go into a monthly pool, with eligible creators receiving their proportionate slice of a 45% share depending on views of their work, as opposed to the 55% revenue shares that YouTube gives long-form creators for adverts incorporated into their works.

That different compensation will help fund another endeavour that will address one of the most challenging aspects of social media creation: negotiating the convoluted, out-of-date music royalties system. A song’s producers can’t even recover their production expenses because obtaining the rights to use it frequently entails interminable contract talks, numerous red lines, and expensive charges that may actually require turning over all proceeds to the rights holder.

Later this autumn, the new Creator Music system will debut with a simpler interface that includes pre-licensed music from four independent labels. The developments represent a significant change for YouTube, which was founded 17 years ago.

The firm is currently among the largest ad-supported streaming video providers in the world, but it also has a sizable live streaming audience. Another key change in what YouTube is, but one that still fits into a much larger context, is the addition of short-form in a meaningful way to its economic structure and the current monetization of it with adverts and revenue sharing for artists.

Levi’s® Launches the Next Iteration of Buy Better, Wear Longer

Levi’s® just launched the next iteration of its “Buy Better, Wear Longer” campaign which builds on the brand’s long-term commitment to making fashion more sustainable and prolonging the lifespan of its products. Levi’s® is on a mission to help consumers love their jeans for decades, not seasons.

To support this effort, Levi’s® created a cinematic short film from the perspective of a pair of Levi’s that tells a multigenerational story: the film takes us through the life of Levi’s most iconic design, the 501. Transformed through the decades with each owner, adapting to the style of the times, the 501 is just as relevant, and wearable today as it was in the 1960s.

“The campaign speaks to Levi’s® legacy, durability, and appeal to a broad global audience. A pair of Levi’s® ages beautifully, engaging generation after generation, with a few tweaks and changes. Timeless and versatile, yet fashionable — no matter the decade. This message is more relevant today than ever before, when we’re all thinking how we can contribute to a more sustainable future” – Karen Riley-Grant, Global Chief Marketing Officer.

The Buy Better, Wear Longer campaign is both a plea and a promise. It’s a plea for consumers to be more intentional about their purchasing decisions and to look for ways to rewear, repurpose, and hold on to their clothes as long as possible, before passing them down to future generations. And it’s a commitment from the brand to continue its work on numerous fronts to be responsible stewards of the natural resources we use, to innovate across its design and manufacturing platforms to become more sustainable, and to move towards more circular products and practices across the board.

Climate, consumption, and community are at the core of our approach to sustainability, and Levi’s® is pursuing a variety of initiatives to support this vision: Investment in materials such as Cottonized Hemp and Organic Cotton, which reduce water consumption and pioneering Water<Less® manufacturing in denim. Most of all, Levi’s® has open-sourced their learnings and tools to affect broader change. Today, Levi’s continues to work alongside partners and leaders like Fashion for Good and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to help shift the industry to a more circular model and Levi’s® R&D lab, WellThread®, constantly searches for radical new ways to make clothes that can reduce its environmental footprint.

“Reconfiguring supply chains takes time but we have found partners that are as concerned about their footprint, and are as excited to experiment as us. These collaborations have allowed us to introduce more circularity in how we make our products.” – Paul Dillinger, Vice President, Head of Global Product Innovation.

The Buy Better, Wear Longer short film is available to view (HERE), andhas launched worldwide across digital and social platforms. To build on their message, Levi’s® will also highlight stories from their partners and changemakers XiyeBastida, MelatiWijsen, and Emma Chamberlain, who have been an integral part of thecampaign since its launch last year and represent the next generation of voices on sustainability. For more information on Levi’s sustainability efforts, please visit https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/features/sustainability. We havealso released our new sustainability report and an expanded slate of sustainability goals.

Pakistan’s beleaguered auto industry walks into the ‘survival of the fittest’ mode

As the country struggles to increase and maintain its foreign exchange reserves, the auto sector, which is seen as one of the culprits for the country’s current economic crisis, is badly struggling.

The State Bank’s forex reserves have depleted to $8.6 billion that can cover only just over a month of imports. Just to give a context, India is six times bigger by population than Pakistan but it has a reserves of $551 billion – 64 times more than Pakistan. Adjusting for population, India has over ten times more per capita forex reserves than Pakistan. The government of Pakistan is trying to increase reserves by any means possible to stabilize the economy.

The reason for this lack of reserves in the country is high imports and low exports. The auto sector is one of the sectors that are highly dependent on imports to conduct their operations.

According to one key auto sector official, if we try to evaluate the total imported component of cost in an average car in Pakistan, it is 90%.

It means if the cost of a car is Rs1 million then Rs0.9 million comes from imported parts and raw material because the domestic parts manufacturers also use imported components and raw material to manufacture the final product.

“Only labor is local in the industry. Almost everything else – parts, sub-components and raw material are imported,” the official said.

The government has put several restrictions on the sector to reduce losing important forex reserves. The recent floods and devastation of the crops have also put stress on the reserves since Pakistan is now forced to import food items as well such as tomatoes and onions to control shortages and skyrocketing prices.

Therefore there appears no respite for the auto sector in the near future. The auto sales have already started plunging. One after another, companies are announcing scheduled production shutdowns.

Moreover, high car prices, restrictions on auto financing, high inflation and reduced buying power are all also putting pressure on the auto industry. Where will all these take the auto industry?

Several companies entered into Pakistan’s auto fray in the aftermath of auto development policy 2016-21 such as Kia, Hyundai, Changan, United Motors, DFSK, MG Motors and Proton. These were in addition to established players such as Toyota, Honda and Suzuki.

The newcomers have increased competition in the sector but coupled with the economic crisis, they may not all survive for long as the competition will become cutthroat.

“Not all companies are going to survive,” said a key official of one of the new entrants. “The ones with strong groups behind them will survive.”

“It is because the competition will force companies to keep high inventories in order to cater to car buyers as soon as possible. The ones with high inventories will be able to attract customers,” the official said.

With high prices and few buyers in the market, the next battle between the car companies will be fought on who will be able deliver cars quickly.

“Inventory financing is not a child’s play. I am talking about billions of rupees of risky investments. Many will not be able to compete and only the ones with strong finances will sustain,” the source added.

Brands and customers should both become accustomed to the idea of long-term ownership. A person is less likely to throw something away in a year if they shop knowing it will last very long. This way, even if they outgrow or become weary of it, they wouldn’t dare just throw it away. They would be thinking about long-term ownership. Even if the new home was a thrift store or resale shop, they would find one for it.

What Does Levi’s Want?

Levi’s wants its customers to wear their jeans in that way. They brought attention to their 501. This pair has been around since 1947 in its current form. (But if you’re just going by the name, it’s much longer; 1890 to be exact.) Levi’s new Buy Better, Wear Longer ad demonstrates how a pair of jeans purchased has a life of its own. For instance, if bought in 1975, the pair may end up in the possession of a totally different person in 2022.

Here’s the ad:

You can watch how the unfinished pair gradually ages, how holes were made, and when and where patches were ironed on before being eventually taken off. At least for blue jeans, it’s entertaining and a welcome reminder of how little has changed.

How does something, the same as so many decades old, last till today? There truly is something timeless in the 501.

Plea and Promise

Many argue that the jeans manufactured back then are considerably superior to those made today. However, Levi’s claims that this campaign is both a “plea and a promise.” It promotes healthier buying practices and it also represents a promise to produce goods that are both more cost-effective for you. Let’s not forget the most important part: they are better for the environment (i.e. longer-lasting). Wouldn’t it be wonderful if your jeans were worn by someone in 2062?

Over the last few decades, obesity has become a considerable health problem. The changing dietary pattern and the consumption of refined carbs have only added to the problem. The chances of obesity increase as children get older. Over the last two decades, the number of obese children has nearly doubled.

For most children, being overweight is the result of unhealthy eating patterns (too many calories) and too little physical activity. Since these habits are established in early childhood, efforts to prevent obesity should begin early.

Promoting a healthy lifestyle among children is one way to maintain healthy children. There are certain preventive measures that can ensure that the children are healthy and not overweight. Here are some ways to counteract obesity in children.

1. Healthy Eating

Instilling healthy eating habits in children when they are young has great benefits. These habits allow them to develop a healthy lifestyle late in adulthood. Likewise, overeating is another way to gain excessive weight. The excessive fuel in the body is stored as fat resulting in obesity. Encourage your children to only eat when they are hungry and in adequate amounts.

2. Physical Activities

The chances of obesity drastically reduce in children who are more involved in physical activity than those who like to sit their way through life. WHO recommends at least sixty minutes of daily activity for children which can include any form of exercise or sports.

3. Limit Screentime

More screen time means less physical activity. Since exercise plays an important role in preventing obesity – it is advised that children must be pushed for outdoor activities rather than those on computers and TV.

4. Adequate Sleep

Research has shown that lack of sleep has direct links to obesity. According to experts, the same can be seen in adults. Hence, a healthy sleeping pattern including a nighttime routine and a proper sleep schedule is great to combat the problem.

5. Be A Role Model

Parents who engage in physical activity and a healthy lifestyle can set an example for their children. Your child will most likely do the same.

6. Remove Temptations

Stocking up the pantry with all sorts of junk food can do more harm than good. Removing sources of added sugars, junks, sodas and other unhealthy snacking options can lead to fewer cravings and hunger pangs.

Emirates adds another feather in its cap with Gerry the Goose ‘Fly Better’ campaign

Following in the footsteps of iconic film and TV personalities Jennifer Aniston, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Clarkson, Emirates latest brand ambassador Gerry the Goose is inviting customers to take a gander at the benefits and services of the world’s largest international airline, and choose to ‘Fly Better’.

From September, the global ad campaign will be in full flight across the USA and Europe, reminding customers that Emirates provides an ‘impeckable’ travel experience on-board with award-winning in-flight entertainment, world-class cabin crew, regionally inspired cuisine and acclaimed beverages. To compliment the ‘best-in sky’ offering, Emirates also offers an impressive on-ground experience– through a myriad of online and home check-in options, chauffeur-driven airport transfers and outstanding lounges.

The campaign storyline follows Gerry as he ruffles feathers by deciding to Fly Better aboard a comfortable and sophisticated Emirates Premium Economy cabin, while his migrating bird-brethren are in ‘fowl humour’ after a long and tiring flight by wing. Gerry is spotted smugly bypassing his counterparts as they fly outside the plane window, while he indulges in a delicious meal and reclines in his spacious seat to enjoy ‘The Goose, The Bad and The Ugly’ movie on his 13.3” personal entertainment screen.

‘In terms of the qualities and profile we look for in our brand ambassadors – we are spreading our wings,’ said SVP of Marketing & Brand at Emirates, Richard Billington. ‘Gerry is a savvy traveller who knows what he wants and where he wants to go- but he’s adamant he’ll do it in style, with luxury and comfort as a priority. Having witnessed his seamless travel experience, we are confident that next time his friends will choose to Fly Better.’

Gerry the Goose Bio

Gerry’s career began in Emirates Headquarters in Dubai, where the concept of his journey was ideated and began to take flight. Then onto to Untold Studios in London, where initial 3D models of geese were brought to life via Computer-Generated Imagery (GCI). The CGI and filming process took 14 weeks and involved a talented team finessing every feather along with lighting and texture, while ensuring carefully created movements brought the character to life. This included time to animate Gerry’s friends, a shoot in London to capture the nature scenes, and a shoot on board Emirates’ aircraft in Dubai.

Relatively new to the acting scene, Gerry cites his career highlight so far as being featured in the Emirates TV ad campaign. The ad will run in 25 countries for one month, starting with the USA on the 30th August, followed by Europe.

Throughout filming, Gerry collaborated with British voiceover talent Michael Cronin to capture the dulcet tones of an experienced nature documentarist.

Gerry’s species heritage is Canada goose (Branta canadensis), large wild geese with black heads and necks, white cheeks, white under the chin, and a brown body. They are native to the arctic and temperate regions of North America, found during migration across the Atlantic in northern Europe.

Gerry the Goose admires the acting work of Ryan Gosling, who he says ‘gives him goose bumps’.

Travelling to Europe This Fall? Keep in Mind a Few Things

The pandemic hit the travel industry in unprecedented ways, completely restricting travel and tourism around the world, and bringing airports to a standstill. Aviation was one of the worst-hit industry, and it was thought that it would take a few years for it to get back to the (pre-covid-19) normal. However, tourism is picking up sooner than expected and travel is witnessing an all-time high with people congesting airports to compensate for the time lost staying indoors.

If there is anything now that can impede travel, it could be the new, modern world issues, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, gas shortage, and droughts in Europe as well as the rising inflation. Hence, here is what you need to know before you make plans to travel during the last few months of 2022.

The City of Lights, Paris, is becoming dark. One example of how tourist locations are adjusting to various challenges hitting the travel industry this fall is the Eiffel Tower, which is turning off its lights earlier at night to conserve electricity. In addition to that, extreme weather conditions leading to a high number of wildfires and devastating storms have been reported in many tourist destinations.

The good news is that there are strategies to reduce the confusion and adjust to the change.

Look for low-energy options

The cost of running swimming pools and air conditioning can mount up quickly because electricity prices are rising at alarming rates throughout the US and Europe. If you’re planning a long trip, follow the lead of many Europeans and rent a place in a nation where electricity prices are now capped (France is one such example).

Rethink activities centered on water

Keep in mind that there may be restrictions in place to control water consumption. An empty pool is less enjoyable than one that is filled, especially if you paid a premium for it. For instance, France is currently considering closing public pools and prohibiting people from replenishing their private pools. If you intend to hike or go swimming in a lake or river, check the water level first. Even canoe and pedal boat rentals may be affected.

Rethink evening activities

If the nighttime lights in tourist cities are switched off, will strolling still be appealing? All public buildings in Paris and other large French cities will now have their lights turned down starting end of September.

Have backup plans for alternative means of travel

Travel could be hampered by extreme heat. The New York Times claimed that severe temperatures make it unsafe for planes to fly and that train tracks can buckle (stoking fears in London over the summer).

Travel at the end of peak fall

Years ago, shrewd visitors to the south of France chose April/May or September/October because there were fewer tourists, the weather was more pleasant, and the Mediterranean heat (and its costs) weren’t as extreme. But it’s becoming more and more apparent that travelling during periods that were once considered off-peak is now essential, not merely advantageous.

As a result, prices are rising throughout fall and the customary peak season is now prolonged.

A Passwordless Future? What is Stopping Businesses?

Everyone detests passwords. The majority of us have trouble remembering them, sometimes along with our usernames because there are so many email and social accounts now. Hence for us, passwordless authentication is great news and option, and what’s more, experts claim that it is now simpler and more secure to log in to platforms, making it practically difficult for hackers to obtain passwords, phish, or replay credentials.

But why don’t we already live in a password-free world? Business leaders have engaged in a great deal of discussion and debate over the hurdles to passwordless entry, leading to the identification of a few key impediments. Here are some of the most common ones preventing progress, along with solutions.

Seeing passwordless as just another tech update

When talking about new projects, existing username and password solutions aren’t always the top priority in terms of technology. By informing internal stakeholders that it’s as much an organisational transformation as it is a technological one and proving these assertions with statistics, leaders may ignite internal dialogues about security and passwordless authentication. There will be a lot of work to be done behind the scenes, but eliminating passwords from an employee’s work experience completely can lead to significant changes in how they work. For example, they won’t have to reset their passwords ever again, and, most importantly, security risks like phishing will no longer exist.

Thinking ‘passwordless’ is all or nothing

It is conceivable to begin deployment with a specific group of users or clients, such as a group of people who are more likely than average to prefer password-free access or a high-risk group like the C-Suite. Or, even better, give all users the option of passwordless access so they may choose to opt-in rather than out.

There are several methods to begin a passwordless journey that aren’t exhaustive. Starting small allows you to gather evidence of success and information that will benefit the company as it moves farther toward passwordless authentication.

Worrying about causing a CX issue when a customer or employee gets a new device

Passwordless, to put it simply, effectively ties a person’s identity to their gadgets, such as a phone or laptop. However, what occurs when a worker receives a new phone? A CIO may not be able to stomach the potential customer experience (CX) nightmare that may result, but it doesn’t have to be that way. In the worst situation, a user would be unable to log in, which would necessitate a dreaded call to the help desk. But a number of fallback methods, such as a magic link to their email, push authentication, a QR code, or resorting to a one-time passcode or pin, can be useful. IT directors may integrate a procedure into current employee manuals and communications to facilitate a smooth transition to a new device rather than acting as a genuine barrier. As with anything else, it merely takes planning to transition to a passwordless posture without creating any CX difficulties around lost or new devices.

Needing to rewrite legacy apps

When it comes to passwordless integration, enterprises frequently worry about how to manage legacy apps. Do all of those applications need to be updated or rewritten? The simple answer is no, but a good identity provider will offer the technology you can use in front of that app to act as the translator, saving you from having to rebuild those apps or create bespoke logic around them.

Before becoming passwordless, there are multiple things to think about, but it’s a path that demands careful contemplation. Passwords are not only inconvenient, but they also increase the risk of security breaches. We need to make progress in order to completely eradicate them and push towards frictionless, secure authentication because so much of our daily lives now take place online.

A recent report by NGOs comes bearing a terribly concerning report. Recently, over 200 NGOs have issued a dire warning estimating that one person dies of hunger every four seconds in the world. They are calling for swift international action to “stop the spiraling global food crisis.” Why is it spiraling and what is being done to curb it?

Who Reported What?

On Tuesday, 238 organizations from 75 nations, including Oxfam, Save the Children, and Plan International, voiced their urgent concerns. They spoke about the rising rates of hunger in an open letter to world leaders gathered in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. It was stated in a statement that “a startling 345 million people are currently experiencing severe hunger, a statistic that has more than doubled since 2019.”

They also claimed, “Famine is about to strike Somalia once more. It is worsening despite pledges from world leaders that it will never happen again in the twenty-first century. In 45 countries around the world, 50 million people are on the verge of hunger.” The NGOs calculated and estimated that 19,700 people are thought to be dying from hunger every day, equating to one death from hunger every four seconds.

Why Is This Even Worse Than Before?

One of the signatories of the letter, Mohanna Ahmed Ali Eljabaly from the Yemen Family Care Association had powerful words to say. He added, “It is abhorrent that with all the technology in agriculture and harvesting techniques today, we are still talking about starvation in the 21st century. He explained that “Hunger never has just one cause.” Moreover, this is not a particular content or nation’s issue. This reflects the unfairness of all of humanity.

He suggested that “We must focus immediately on delivering food that will save lives.” Moreover, he also called for longer-term assistance so that individuals can take control of their destinies and provide for their families.

What Has Made It Worse?

Yes, it is the 21st century. We have flying cars now, why is starvation still an issue? As the member of UN added, with all the technology in the world we have somehow made these aggravating issues worse. The pandemic and the recent droughts can be the major causes— they’re putting the impoverished nations even back.
