This could eb the gateway for other beverage brands to also leverage their identity and build a representative entertainment channel. Coke already has a store and is always working with events. Smartphones are incredibly useful and vital to many of us. But when should your children have their own smartphones? How do you decide?

When there is so much technology in our lives, it isn’t easy to figure out when and how to let your kids start using it. Do you go early and give them devices from a young age? Or do you hold off and teach them about responsibility first?

For most, it’s somewhere in the middle, but it begs the question: at what age should your kids get a smartphone?

According to experts several key factors can be considered when deciding if your child is ready for a smartphone – and what you should do once they own one.

When Children Should Get Smartphones?

There is no set age that parents agree upon when it comes to giving a child their first smartphone. There isn’t much clear information from the tech industry either, though there are plenty of studies, opinions, and insights from tech leaders, educators, government offices, and much more.

Famously, Bill Gates said none of his children were allowed a smartphone until age 14. Likewise, Madonna has shared on an occasion that she regrets giving her older children phones at age 13, and wouldn’t do it again.

Data from UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom show that the vast majority of children in the UK own a smartphone by the age of 11. Meanwhile, the ownership rises from 44% at age nine to 91% at age 11. In the US, 37% of parents of nine- to 11-year-olds say their child has their own smartphone.

European studies across 19 countries show that 80% of children aged nine to 16 reported using a smartphone daily.

“By the time we get to older teens, over 90% of kids have a phone,” says Candice Odgers, professor of psychological science at the University of California, Irvine, in the US.

Study Analysis

Odgers did an analysis of the link between digital technology use and child and adolescent mental health. As well as other large-scale studies and daily diary studies. She found no consistent link between adolescents’ technology use and their well-being.

“The majority of studies find no association between social media use and mental health,” says Odgers. In the studies where an association was found, the effect was small both positive and negative.

“The biggest finding really was a disconnect between what people believe, including adolescents themselves, and what the evidence actually says,” she says.

Amy Orben, an experimental psychologist at the University of Cambridge, UK, also found the evidence inconclusive. While there was a small negative correlation, on average, across the studies included, Orben concluded it was impossible to know whether technology has a direct relationship with poor well-being or vice versa. It was also difficult to highlight which factors were influencing both. Much of the research in this area is not enough to deliver meaningful results, she concluded.

“There’s an inherent large variation around that impact [on wellbeing] that has been found in the scientific literature,” says Orben. The experience of individual teenagers will depend on their own personal circumstances.

“The only person who really can judge that is often the people who are closest to them,” she adds.

Lip Plumping Hack

The quest for fuller thicker lips has led people to try all sorts of products on their lips. From sucking on water bottles to overlining them to make them look full – there are billions of hacks available online. However, seeing people use the chilli paste on their lips has left us dreading the consequences.

The Pakistani Ken Doll also shared a couple of reasons why this hack is not worth it.

The concoction is a mixture of vaseline, cinnamon powder and chilli powder. While vaseline and cinnamon don’t pose any undesirable effects – the same can not be said about chilli powder. The chilli powder irritates resulting in increased blood flow towards the surface. The blood flow gives the appearance of thicker-looking lips with a mild tingling sensation.

Meanwhile, the same desirable effects can take a turn for the worst if someone starts getting an allergic reaction. In such instances, there can be excessive swelling on the lips, formation of blisters, irritation and burning sensation.

While this hack might be appropriate for people with a high tolerance for spicy foods. It is extremely dangerous and the consequences can be grave.

AKUH signs MoU with Roche Diagnostics & Sysmex for Automated Laboratory System

A lot of Pakistani celebrities visited the city of the Big Ben, London over the weekend. The stars were traveling for a special event, The International Pakistan Prestige Awards (IPPA) 2017 took place in London on Sunday, 17th September.

Out of the list of winners, there was one film that bagged the majority of the awards of the night. It was none other than the rom-com film of the year, Actor-in-Law starring the dapper Fahad Mustafa, the late Bollywood veteran Om Puri, and the beautiful Mehwish Hayat.

The director Nabeel Qureshi was nominated for the Best Director of the year 2016, Fahad Mustafa was nominated for Best Actor and Mehwish Hayat as best actress. Om Puri was nominated for his supporting role in the film.

These words echoed in the commentary box, at Multan stadium during Sindh vs Central Punjab match at National T20 Cup 2022. During the 16th over, Sarfaraz Ahmed took a good catch off Abrar Ahmed (who got called up for the England series), and unlike the Sarfaraz we know, he just throws the ball to the other fielder silently, without any emotion or reaction.

This is not the Sarfaraz the world knows. This was a painful sight for any Sarfaraz fan, as he is mostly smiling and is known for being very chirpy, and energetic on the field. Even commentators, couldn’t bear to see that, as they continued,
“I have never seen Sarfaraz Ahmed so quiet, and I get it, he was really close to the close up.” The other commentator added, “I don’t like this Sarfaraz, trust me I like him speaking, chirping.”

This reminded me of Shawn Michaels’ infamous promo, from the February 13 1997 edition of WWE (WWF back then) weekly RAW. In that promo, Shawn Michaels famously said that he had “lost [his] smile” after having to vacate his WWF championship due to a career-threatening knee injury.

Sarfaraz has also lost his smile, after coming up short of a national call-up for the home series against England, and T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Pakistan’s regular wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, is dealing with injuries and nobody else deserves to be his backup than the former captain.

Sarfaraz Ahmed fought hard throughout National T20 Cup to earn his ticket to Australia, as the commentator said “We all like that Sarfaraz, such a character. A true fighter, street fighter.”

He was a deserving candidate to be called up for the series against England and get a ticket for T20 World Cup 2022, as a reserve wicket-keeper or even as a specialist middle-order batter. However, captain Babar Azam and Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim overlooked him in favour of young wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris.

With his current form and strike rate, he could have easily made it, even as a specialist batter, considering Pakistan’s shaky middle order, however, the management has opted for the same combination which failed in Asia Cup 2022. Shan Masood replaced Fakhar Zaman, who is injured and has failed miserably during Asia Cup. However, Fakhar has been kept as a reserve player for T20 World Cup with Mohammad Haris and Shahnawaz Dahani.

There was a lot of chatter going on in the media regarding the changes in the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup after Pakistan’s crushing defeat in the Asia Cup 2022 final at the hands of Sri Lanka. Pakistan’s middle order was criticized for being too shaky and unreliable, while top-order batters were criticized for their strike rates.

Many former players bashed current management over team selection, while journalists started running campaigns for the recall of their favorite players. This is not at all the way to treat a former captain who made the team No. 1 in the T20 rankings. Under his captaincy, Pakistan won 11 consecutive T20 series. He brought glory with the Champions Trophy by defeating India for the first time in an ICC event, that too in the final. If Asif, Iftikhar, and Khushdil can get chances after failing again and again, why not Sarfaraz be given the chance, after performing well in PSL as well as other domestic tournaments.

Bring to it a creamy flavour with coconut milk and add cauliflower to it.

The All Vegetable Soup

This one is called an all vegetables soup because you can literally add all the vegetables to it. Go for yellow onion, garlic cloves, celery stalks, shiitake mushroom, baby bok choy and ginger. Add a dash of coconut oil for ultimate immunity booster and then turmeric and salt and pepper to taste.

Having this is like having a bowl of iron like strength to weather the worst storms your body can imagine. All the vegetables are rich in fibre, antioxidants and vitamins. Don’t miss out!

Lentil Soup

The best kind of lentils to use for this particular soup are red (or “red split”) lentils. They are soft and have a way of blending into the soup and and a luxurious thickness.

Green lentils could also work. They’ll have to cook closer to 30 minutes and will be more detectable in the soup. Add your favoruite vegetables to this be it broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes or whatever tickles your fancy.

Total 33 women and 43 men, totaling 76 drivers, took a test drive in level 3 automatic vehicles (L3 AVs). The driver can entirely switch off from operating the vehicle and engage in other activities with these vehicles. The researchers were also tested in various weather conditions. Researchers asked drivers to take over from L3 AVs in various weather situations. The timing and effectiveness of the takeover were then evaluated.

The Findings

Compared to men, women displayed a lower proportion of hasty takeovers and marginally quicker reaction times. Additionally, women operated the steering wheel more steadily as opposed to their male counterparts.

Our study also highlights how crucial it is to address inequality in future mobility considerations. According to a university release from Dr. Shuo Li, lead author of the study.

At Newcastle’s School of Engineering, “manufacturers and designers need to adopt inclusive practices. They must fully consider the needs, requirements, performance, and preferences of end-users from different demographic groups. Only then can create user-friendly automated vehicles be created.”

The Follow-Up

In the following phase, a follow-up study will be done to account for gender variations. They will be accomodated in the needs and requirements that are connected with non-driving related duties in Level 3 automated cars. The impact of completing these tasks on end-user behavior and performance also needs to be considered.

For creating and promoting user-friendly, human-machine interactions in driverless automobiles, researchers say their findings have significant significance. The significance extends to legislators, vehicle manufacturers, and academia. The authors of the study also note that gender disparities in user preferences for other non-driving jobs should be considered when designing these driverless vehicles’ interiors.

Modern car windows are ultra-convenient, so there’s no need to crank a hand roller anymore. At the press of a button, you can make your window roll up or down, allowing you to stay warm in your car or let in a cool breeze.

While having your car windows get stuck can be a nightmare, regardless of whether they get stuck up or down. Whether you have power windows or manual windows, you can figure out why your windows won’t roll up if you follow some easy tips.

1. Check Safety Locks

For starters, double-check that the child safety locks aren’t engaged in your vehicle. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that these are the problem if you’ve had a busy day or perhaps engaged the button by accident. Once you verify that this lock is not on, you can check it off your list of potential culprits.

2. Check For A Blockage

In winter, when your car window isn’t moving due to a blockage, the reason is that it’s clogged with snow or ice. Try removing these impediments manually. You’ll want to be careful not to damage the glass, so you may want to consider using a lighter or similar tool to melt the ice or snow if it’s heavily accumulated. This is also best practice when the ice or snow blocks the window slot or is otherwise too difficult.

3. Restart Your Car

Glass windows are set on tracks within your door panel. If your window is somehow dislodged from the track (or if it is tilted to the side), it may not engage with the motor, even if it’s working correctly.

Slamming your car door can help to resolve this problem by realigning your glass window with the tracks.

5. Strike The Door

Similar to the door slam method, the striking method can help realign your window with the tracks and motor. Using your palm (to avoid injury or damage), take your hand and strike the center of your car door on the outside. Never use tools in place of your hand, as this can cause damage to the paint and body of your vehicle.

When utilizing the striking method, only do it a few times and see if it produces results. Do not continue striking the door if it doesn’t get your window back on track. Also, be careful not to strike your door too hard, as it’s much easier to damage the door’s paint or shatter the glass inside than you might think.

6. Watchout For Other Faults

You should also make sure that the electronics in your car are working before determining if it’s an issue that’s specific to your window. If your car’s interior lights and other electronic parts aren’t functioning correctly, the problem may not be with your window but rather with your car’s battery or circuits. For example, a short circuit could prevent an electrical signal from adequately reaching your car window

Emirates and United Expand Market Presence Through New Agreement

Emirates and United announced a historic commercial agreement today that will enhance each airline’s network and give their customers easier access to hundreds of new destinations* within the United States and around the world.

From November, Emirates customers flying into Chicago, San Francisco, and Houston – three of the biggest business hubs in the U.S – will be able to easily connect onto United flights to and from nearly 200 cities across the Americas on a single ticket.

At the eight other U.S. airports served by Emirates – Boston, Dallas, LA, Miami, JFK, Orlando, Seattle and Washington DC – both airlines will have an interline arrangement in place.

United will launch a new direct flight between Newark and Dubai starting in March 2023 – from there, customers will be able to travel on Emirates or its sister airline flydubai to more than 100 cities. Tickets for United’s new Dubai flight are now on sale.

Emirates and United announced their agreement today at a ceremonial event at Dulles International Airport, hosted by United CEO Scott Kirby and Emirates President Sir Tim Clark, featuring United and Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and flight crews from each carrier.

Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said: “Two of the biggest, and best-known airlines in the world are joining hands to fly people better to more places, at a time when travel demand is rebounding with a vengeance. It’s a significant partnership that will unlock tremendous consumer benefit and bring the United Arab Emirates and the United States even closer. We welcome United’s return to Dubai next year, where our hub Dubai essentially becomes a gateway for United to reach Asia, Africa and the Middle East via the combined network of Emirates and flydubai. We look forward to developing our partnership with United for the long term.”

Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines said: “This agreement unites two iconic, flag carrier airlines who share a common commitment to creating the best customer experience in the skies. United’s new flight to Dubai and our complementary networks will make global travel easier for millions of our customers, helping boost local economies and strengthen cultural ties. Customers of both airlines can soon book these connecting flights on a single ticket – making check-in and luggage transfer faster and easier. For example – travellers will be able to visit United.com or use the United app to book a flight from New York/Newark to Karachi, Pakistan or go to Emirates.com to book a flight from Dubai to Atlanta or Honolulu.

This agreement will also give the loyalty program members of both airlines more opportunities for more rewards: Emirates Skywards members can soon earn miles when they travel on United operated flights, and United Mileage Plus members flying on United’s New York/Newark to Dubai flight will be able to earn and redeem miles when connecting beyond on Emirates and flydubai.

Eligible customers travelling on codeshare flights will also soon enjoy access to Emirates and United lounges. More details on frequent flyer awards and lounge sharing benefits will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Both airlines have recently announced significant investments in the customer experience. Emirates will retrofit more than 120 aircraft as part of a $2 billion effort that includes elevated meal choices, a brand-new vegan menu, a ‘cinema in the sky’ experience, cabin interior upgrades, and sustainable choices. Study Shows Kids Likely To Get Asthma If Parents Were Exposed To Tobacco Smoke

Children are more likely to develop asthma if their father was exposed to second-hand smoke when he was a child, according to a study published in the European Respiratory Journal.

Led by University of Melbourne researchers, Mr Jiacheng Liu and Dr Dinh Bui, the study also shows that children’s risk of asthma is even higher if their father was exposed to second-hand smoke and went on to become a smoker.

Researchers Find Asthma Linked To Tobacco Smoking

The researchers say their findings highlight how smoking can damage health not only for smokers and their children, but also their grandchildren

“We found that the risk of non-allergic asthma in children increases by 59% if their fathers were exposed to secondhand smoke in childhood, compared to children whose fathers were not exposed. The risk was even higher, at 72%, if the fathers were exposed to secondhand smoke and went on to smoke themselves,” said researcher Jiacheng Liu.

In the study, researchers used data from the Tasmanian Longitudinal Health Study (TAHS), one of the world’s largest and longest ongoing respiratory studies.

For this study, researchers included nearly 1,700 children who grew up in Tasmania, their fathers and their paternal grandparents.

The team compared data on whether the children had developed asthma by age 7 with data on whether the fathers grew up with parents who smoked when they were younger than 15. Researchers also included data on whether the fathers became smokers.

“We can’t be certain of how this damage is passed on through generations, but we think it may be to do with epigenetic changes,” added researcher Shyamali Dharmage.

“This is where factors in our environment, such as tobacco smoke, interact with our genes to modify their expression. These changes can be inherited, but may be partially reversible for each generation.”

“It’s possible that tobacco smoke is creating epigenetic changes in the cells that will go on to produce sperm when boys grow up,” Dharmage said in a journal news release. “These changes can then be passed on to their children.”

The researchers will now investigate if the increased risk of asthma persists into adult life and whether fathers who were exposed to second-hand smoke as children pass on any increase in allergies or other lung diseases to their children.

Tomorrow, PUBG MOBILE will release its new Version 2.2 Update, which will see players explore the tropics with the new map Nusa, battle across new locations in an updated Erangel, experience the thrilling themed game mode Gear Front Mode, as well as unlock and use a number of new cosmetics as part of Cycle 3 Season 8 and Royale Pass Month 15. After a summer of festivals, PUBG MOBILE is bringing players back to the battleground!

Version 2.2 brings an all-new map for players to enjoy, explore and battle across! Nusa is the new 1×1 km tourist island map set in the tropics. Overflowing with supplies, players will drop in and immediately find themselves in exciting battles! A small map, matches are completed much more quickly than on maps like Erangel or Livik, which means gameplay will be fast-paced and exhilarating. Alongside gunfights, Nusa is an island with many beautiful views and vistas. Players preparing for their next gunfight can stop and appreciate the beauty, although not for too long!

Nusa will also introduce the new Super Recall mechanic, allowing players who are eliminated early to rejoin the match if they still have surviving teammates. Those playing solo will automatically respawn.

The new map includes a number of new ways to get around quickly, from ziplines spread across the map to an elevator in the multi-story Telepak Town Apartment. Nusa will also feature new weapons, in the form of the Tactical Crossbow and NS2000 Shotgun. Players can also ride around in the new Quad, a nimble 2-seater vehicle with outstanding stability.

Alongside a new map comes updates to an old favorite. PUBG MOBILE’s Version 2.2 Update will also introduce a host of changes to Erangel. Firstly, the Hospital and Mylta Power structures have been updated to streamline combat and hunting for supplies.

Two new ports are being added to Erangel, with one southwest of the Farm and the other south of the Sosnovka Military Base. There will also be cosmetic updates to the Ferry Pier. Early risers, there’s good news for you out there. Night owls can no longer boast about increased productivity because a new research has come up. Early rising is where it’s at and there’s a new backing for it. Are you excited about it? Read all about the study here:

Early Risers

People who get up early and stay active all day long seem to be happier, according to new research. These early risers are also more mentally alert, especially as they get older. This also extends to seniors who get up early and keep busy all day long. This activity keeps them happier and also yielded high scores on cognitive tests. All this comes from the researchers at the University of Pittsburgh.

New Research

According to Pitt’s assistant professor of psychiatry and epidemiology Stephen Smagula, Ph.D., the lead study author early risers are getting it right. He said, “getting up early, keeping active all day, and following the same routine each day seems to be protecting older folks.” This is interesting because it shows altering their daily routines can be helpful for them.

The Method

The authors of the study gathered 1,800 seniors (65 and over) to conduct a study on the everyday activity patterns of older Americans. This was done in order to discover correlations between these patterns and mental health and cognition. It gives holistic perspectives on their data. For a full week, each participant wore an accelerometer around their wrists, which tracks movement and is akin to a Fitbit or smartwatch. In addition, the respondents also gave a set of tests measuring cognitive ability and depressive symptoms.

All of them said that 37.6% of participants who got up early were active all day. What was also special was that they generally followed the same schedule every day. “Many older persons have consistent routines. They often rise before 7 a.m. and keep moving, staying active for around 15 hours every day. They also frequently follow the same pattern, according to Prof. Smagula.” This just shows early rising is the best answer to all your day problems.
