Mawra Hocane’s nikkah photos have taken the internet by storm, leaving fans in awe of her effortlessly graceful bridal look. While everyone eagerly awaits more glimpses from her shendi, her nikkah ensemble has already become the talk of the town. The actor chose a delicate yet breathtaking outfit that perfectly captured her signature elegance. Instead of opting for the usual extravagant bridal attire, Hocane embraced tradition with a modern twist, making her look stand out in the best way possible.
From her pastel-hued lehenga to the sentimental heirloom pieces she incorporated, every detail of her outfit held meaning. Let’s take a closer look at how she struck the perfect balance between simplicity and grandeur.
Mawra Hocane’s Nikkah Look
Mawra Hocane’s Dreamy Outfit with a Personal Touch
For her big day, Mawra Hocane wore a stunning pale blue lehenga paired with a unique koti-style short shirt, designed by Rano’s Heirlooms. The outfit featured intricate golden floral motifs accentuated with delicate pink and purple embroidery. The thick border, blending deep purple, bright pink and icy blue, added a regal touch to the outfit.
While the embroidery and colour choices made the lehenga stand out, the addition of sentimental heirloom elements made it even more special. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Hocane expressed her gratitude to the designers, calling her outfit “absolutely magical.” She also revealed that she restored and incorporated the dupatta her mother-in-law had worn on her wedding day. To complete the sentimental value of her look, she paired it with jewellry that belonged to her husband Ameer Gilani’s grandmother, who had worn it at her own wedding over fifty years ago.
Mawra Hocane Nikkah details
The koti-style short shirt added a contemporary touch, enhanced by bright pink and green piping that subtly contrasted the pastel lehenga. A scallop-edged green dupatta, slightly brighter than the lehenga, completed the ensemble beautifully.
Minimal Accessories, Maximum Elegance
Hocane chose accessories that complemented her outfit without overpowering it. She wore dainty emerald green jewellry that matched the delicate green piping on her shirt. A stack of simple gold bangles added a timeless charm, while a bright pink potli with intricate golden embroidery injected a pop of vibrant colour.
Her makeup was as understated as her outfit. She went for a barely-there look, enhancing her natural beauty with a glossy nude lip, soft pink eyeshadow and just a hint of blush. The simplicity of her makeup allowed her glowing complexion to shine, adding to her ethereal bridal aura.
Mawra Hocane Nikkah Shoot Close-Ups
Mawra Hocane’s nikkah look proved that sometimes, less is more. She embraced minimalism without compromising on tradition, making her ensemble both meaningful and mesmerising. The sentimental value woven into her outfit made it even more special, proving that a bride’s attire can be both stylish and deeply personal.

In a major relief for Umrah pilgrims, the government of Saudi Arabia has suspended the requirement for the Neisseria meningitis vaccine, allowing travellers to perform Umrah without this formerly mandatory immunisation.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation has released a new circular suspending the previously announced vaccination requirement, which was set to be implemented on January 7, 2025.
Khaleej Times reported that a new directive has been issued to all airlines at Saudi Arabia’s airports, including private carriers, replacing last month’s requirement for meningitis vaccinations.
Earlier, the Health Ministry of Saudi Arabia had mandated the vaccine for all Umrah pilgrims, regardless of their visa type.
Meanwhile, as per the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, travellers are now only required to show proof of polio vaccination.
Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation stated that this regulation applies to travellers from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Somalia and other countries.
Travellers are required to obtain a polio vaccination certificate or an inactivated poliovirus vaccine certificate at least four weeks before arriving in Saudi Arabia.

The news, shared via the organisation’s Instagram account on February 4, quickly went viral, prompting humourous reactions across social media.
The track, originally released on May 4, 2024, as part of Lamar’s highly publicised rap feud with Drake, has achieved significant milestones. Pakistan’s cricket legend Younis Khan has weighed in on the team’s chances at the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, and he’s feeling optimistic. The former Test captain believes Pakistan has what it takes to reach the semi-finals—but he insists that full support from fans and experts is crucial.
Trust the Process, Support the Players
In a recent media talk, Younis emphasized the importance of backing the squad.
“The team selected for the Champions Trophy consists of the best available players. The key to good performance is mental fitness. The players have the talent to make it to the top four,” he stated.
And he’s not wrong. Pakistan has a history of punching above its weight in major ICC tournaments. But as always, external pressure and non-stop criticism can be a huge distraction for the players.
Younis urged fans to trust the selection process and avoid unnecessary criticism that could disrupt the team’s focus. He recalled how frequent changes before the World Cup affected team stability and warned against repeating the same mistake.
“Before the World Cup, too many changes were made due to excessive criticism. Now, we should focus on nurturing new talent at the grassroots level—schools, colleges, and clubs—rather than constantly reshuffling the national squad,” he added.
Unfortunate Blow: Saim Ayub’s Injury
Younis expressed his disappointment over Saim Ayub’s injury, which has ruled him out of the tournament. The young left-hander has been making waves with his explosive batting, and his absence is a definite setback.
“It’s unfortunate that Saim won’t be part of the team. Pakistan won’t be able to benefit from his skills in this mega event,” Younis said.
While injuries are part of the game, losing a rising star just before a major tournament is tough.
Younis Khan also thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for naming an enclosure at the National Stadium Karachi after him.
“I am thankful to Allah for giving me the opportunity to serve Pakistan. We, as players, did not do any favors to the country; we just served it with pride,” he humbly said.

India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer had to cut short a movie night and turn in earlier than planned on Wednesday, however, a match-defining half-century against England the next day made it all worthwhile.
Iyer’s brilliant 59 off 36 balls set up India’s comfortable chase of 249 in the one-day series opener, which the hosts completed in 39 overs to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. The previous evening, captain Rohit Sharma informed Iyer he would be playing the series opener as Virat Kohli had been laid low by a knee niggle.
“I was watching a movie last night, I thought I could extend my night, but then I got a call from skipper saying that you may play because Virat has got a swollen knee,” Iyer told broadcaster Star Sports after India’s four-wicket victory. “And then (I) hurried back to my room, went off to sleep straightaway.”
India appear keen to play Jaiswal as the lone left-handed batter in their top four for the Champions Trophy later this month.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made his ODI debut in the match partnering Rohit at the top of the batting order. Dropping down to number three to accommodate Jaiswal, Shubman Gill smashed 87, which earned him the player-of-the-match.
India appear keen to play Jaiswal as the lone left-handed batter in their top four for the Champions Trophy later this month. The makeup of India’s batting lineup when Kohli returns for the second ODI against England on Sunday remains unclear. India will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against neighbours Bangladesh in Dubai on Feb. 20.

On Thursday, US lawmakers brought forth a bill to ban DeepSeek from being used on government devices over security concerns. Representative Josh Gottheimer, a New Jersey Democrat, introduced the bill along with Darin LaHood, an Illinois Republican, citing an “alarming threat to US national security.”
The bill follows a Feroot Security report revealing that the AI model contains hidden code that can transmit user data to China Mobile.
“The Chinese Communist Party has made it abundantly clear that it will exploit any tool at its disposal to undermine our national security, spew harmful disinformation and collect data on Americans,” Gottheimer said in a statement. LaHood also called DeepSeek a “CCP-affiliated company.”“Under no circumstances”can it be allowed to “obtain sensitive government or personal data.”
The legislation in the House of Representatives comes as South Korean ministries and police said they were blocking DeepSeek’s access to their computers.
Australia, too, has banned DeepSeek from government devices due to security concerns while France and Italy have raised issues.

Once again FIFA suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after the PFF parliament refused to implement a constitutional amendment recommended by the global football body.
“The PFF has been suspended with immediate effect due to its failure to adopt a revision of the PFF Constitution that would ensure truly fair and democratic elections and thereby fulfill its obligations as mandated by FIFA as part of the ongoing normaliSation process of PFF,” FIFA officials stated.
“The suspension will only be lifted subject to the PFF Congress approving the version of the PFF Constitution presented by FIFA and the AFC.”
During the meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-provincial Coordination earlier in the day, Haroon Malik — the chairman of the PFF Normalisation Committee appointed by FIFA — had stated THAT Pakistan was risking suspension.
Suspension adds pressure on the PFF congress to accept FIFA requirements. In a meeting last month, Congress refused the amendments which mostly centre on the candidacy for the president. FIFA had given the PFF NC till Feb 15 to conduct the elections, however the rejection of the amendments by the congress put the process on hold.
Malik wrote to the Congress members and put efforts to set up meetings to resolve the problem. The PFF has been in crisis and controversy since 2015 and this is the third time since 2017 that Pakistan has been suspended.

The second edition of ACCA’s annual economic outlook examines the prospects and major risks for the global economy and key countries. The report, 2025 Global Economic Outlook: A highly uncertain world, includes an exclusive interview with economist Charles Goodhart, highlights key events in 2025, examines three trends to watch closely, and interviews chief financial officers (CFOs) from across the globe.
Distinguished economist Charles Goodhart reflects on the enormous uncertainty in the global economy currently. He suggests that the US economy may perform strongly in 2025, but that Europe and the UK could struggle. He is generally optimistic about India’s prospects. As regards inflation, Goodhart argues it could fall in the short-run but will likely rebound in 2026 and 2027, where upwards pressure may become quite considerable in the US. On artificial intelligence (AI), he asserts that while it may not be a silver bullet for poor productivity growth, it could help reduce inequality within countries.
Jonathan Ashworth, chief economist at ACCA and author of the report, said: “The global economy should continue to grow at a reasonable, but not particularly exciting pace in 2025. But it is a world marked by significant uncertainty. The risks are predominantly on the downside, amid potential changes in US trade policy, a challenging geopolitical backdrop, political uncertainty and rising government bond yields.”
The report highlights three key trends to watch in the global economy in 2025:
Developments with AI: The emergence of AI agents promises new productivity breakthroughs, but hybrid solutions integrating other technologies will be crucial for sustained value.
Rising geoeconomic fragmentation: Will US trade policies begin to push globalisation into reverse.
Further retreating from green policies: Amid cost-of-living pressures and political shifts in developed economies, climate-related commitments are under strain, with potential long-term consequences for sustainability.
CFO perspectives
The report features insights from seven CFOs across diverse industries and regions. In general, while interviewees did not appear to be expecting a notable slowing in global growth, there was some caution given the significant global uncertainty. A wide range of risks were highlighted such as US trade policy, geopolitics, inflation, climate change and cybersecurity. AI continues to be a priority, with businesses recognising both its potential and its disruptive challenges. A recurring theme among CFOs is the need for agility, innovation, and resilience in navigating an uncertain economic landscape.
“In a year marked by significant uncertainty, understanding the interplay of economic, political, and technological factors is critical for businesses and policymakers,” Ashworth concluded.

Rafael Nadal, one of the most celebrated players in the history of tennis, seems to be fitting quite well into retirement. The 22-time Grand Slam champion officially ended his professional tennis career in November, marking the end to unparalleled dominance.

At the latest Gran Gala of Mundo Deportivo, Nadal was awarded the Extraordinary Trophy for his contributions to the sport. During the event, the Spaniard spoke about his transition away from competitive tennis.
A Smooth Transition
“I am fine, perfect, doing a different kind of work but trying to organise what my life is right now and what my life will be in the future,” Nadal stated. He stated that every big change in life requires time and he doesn’t mind where he currently stands. “The last years of my career were difficult and that helps me not to miss it so much.”
Unlike many retired athletes who find it hard to adapt to life after professional sports, Nadal embraced the transition gracefully and showed appreciation for what tennis has offered him.
Relief from Physical Struggles
Throughout his career, Nadal faced persistent injuries that often tested his resilience. Now, he is enjoying a life relatively free from pain. “I’m living with very little pain and that’s very important to me,” he said. “Getting up and walking down the stairs normally is huge progress for me in my daily life.”
This newfound comfort with his body is a change of welcome comfort for someone who pushed his body to the limit for two decades. Nadal admitted that in retirement, he is not pushing himself too hard but trying to have a healthier and balanced lifestyle.

An Exciting Future Ahead
Though he is retired, Nadal is yet to figure out what is next. “There are a lot of things to get used to and I have to discover what I’m really motivated to do in this new life,” he noted.
The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, just received another unrecognised designation by the Trump administration: special government employee. This status allows him to serve on work for up to 130 days without full-time government official financial disclosure requirements. While there is no government paycheck, his role is reshaping federal operations and sparking a heated debate.
Reorganising the Federal Government
Musk is leading the charge in federal cost-cutting efforts through his new role at the Department of Government Efficiency. He is focusing on mass layoffs and system overhauls, causing major disruptions within several agencies. His team has reportedly locked career civil servants out of key databases, which raises security and access concerns over critical personnel information. He has also advocated for the abolition of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which he claims operates without adequate oversight.

Conflicts of Interest and Lack of Transparency
Musk remains in charge of Tesla and SpaceX while serving in the government, which creates potential conflicts of interest. SpaceX has contracts with the Pentagon and intelligence agencies worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and critics have questioned whether Musk’s dual roles compromise the government’s decision-making. While the White House claims that Musk is operating within legal boundaries, ethics experts caution that his “special” status may protect him from the need for financial transparency. This lack of disclosure may prevent watchdogs from determining whether Musk is using his position for personal or corporate gain.
Democratic lawmakers have expressed concern that Musk’s unprecedented role gives an unelected billionaire too much influence over national policy. They argue that the restructuring efforts are less about efficiency and more about consolidating power among Trump’s allies. Meanwhile, Trump has defended Musk, emphasising that any major decisions still require presidential approval. “Elon has a natural instinct for this,” Trump stated, reinforcing his confidence in Musk’s approach.

The Bigger Picture
The appearance of Musk in governance represents a fundamental shift in the relationship of private enterprise and public administration. His leadership style, marked by aggressive restructuring and a disdain for bureaucratic norms, aligns with Trump’s broader agenda of reducing government size and influence. However, it raises democratic accountability questions and how far billionaires can shape national policy.
As Musk continues his rapid overhaul of federal systems, the debate over his power, transparency and accountability is far from over. Whether his vision for government efficiency will be a success or a cautionary tale remains to be seen.

Recognising Literary Excellence
On the festival’s opening day, four literary awards will be announced. The categories include English fiction, Urdu prose, Urdu poetry and regional language books in Sindhi, Balochi, Pashto and Punjabi.
A New Venue Suggestion

Have you ever noticed how January seems to drag on forever? Like it’s not just a month but an entire year, or maybe an eternity? If yes, then you’re not alone. This phenomenon can be partly explained by the “dopamine clock hypothesis.” Dopamine, a neurotransmitter linked to motivation and reward, influences our perception of time. Higher dopamine levels can make time feel like it’s flying, while lower levels have the opposite effect. After the holiday season’s excitement, our dopamine levels dip, making the days of January feel longer.
Additionally, the post-holiday lull leaves many of us facing the reality of New Year’s resolutions, tighter budgets and less social interaction. The combination of shorter daylight hours and colder weather can also contribute to a sense of time dragging, as we spend more time indoors and less engaged in stimulating activities.
The Internet had Hilarious Reactions.
Like every other thing, the internet took note of January’s notorious reputation too. Social media platforms flooded with memes and jokes about the month’s perceived length. One popular quip suggested that “January has 31 days, but it feels like 65.” Another meme humourously labelled January as the “Monday of months,” which is sort of true if you look at how seemingly unending it was.
Did January Feel Endlessly Long? Here’s Why
People couldn’t help but complain that every day they woke up, it was still January as if life was stuck in a never-ending loop.
Even major companies joined in on the fun. Google recently shared a meme acknowledging the collective sentiment that January seems to stretch on indefinitely. This light-hearted approach resonates with many who feel the month’s drag.
On platforms like TikTok, users expressed their feelings about January’s length through creative videos. One user humorously lamented, “This month is too long. We are all collectively deteriorating as a human race.” Such content captures the shared experience of enduring January’s protracted days.
While January’s extended feel has scientific explanations, it’s clear that humour plays a crucial role in helping us cope. By sharing laughs and acknowledging the month’s challenges, we find comfort in the collective experience. So, as we finally bid farewell to January, let’s carry forward the camaraderie and humour that helped us through its lengthy days.
