Why does KitKat Taste Better In The UK?

This delicious wafer-covered chocolate bar is almost always believed to be an American snack here in the US. Well, guess what, it’s an old English snack. KitKat was initially developed by the English Brand Rowntree back in 1935.  It instantly became a hit and stayed under Rowntree’s brand name until the company was purchased by Nestle in 1988.  Before being sold to Nestle, Rowntree licensed Kit Kat to Hershey.

Now, American Kit-Kats are made by the Hershey Company, while British Kit-Kats are manufactured by Nestlé.

The Composition Of Kitkat

The American-made chocolate bar contains more sugar. While the British-made chocolate bar is higher in fat and cocoa, resulting in a richer, smoother flavour.

According to a taste test done to identify the likeness of British KitKats subjects could determine there was a clear difference and the testers who preferred the American Kit Kat stated they like it because it was familiar to them. Meanwhile, some of the participants commented that the British Kit Kat was less enhanced chocolate and the American Kit Kat was crunchier.

The huge difference in taste is mainly substantial due to UK laws. According to a Business Insider report, U.K. legislation states that to be considered milk chocolate, a product must be at least 25% cocoa solids. However, in the U.S., a product must merely be 10% chocolate liquor.

What Do You Prefer?

It’s hard to get your hands on the British version in the UK – according to a deal made by Hershey which was made to ban imports of British Kit-Kats. A fan started a petition to protest the Hershey Company’s legal action in 2015 and as of 2018, it received three nearly 40,000 signatures.

The internet also agrees with the superior taste of British KitKats. While there is no way one would simply reject a chocolate bar – a British KitKat would definitely take a superior spot.

5 Tips To Efficiently Use Your Car AC In This Heat

It is difficult to imagine traveling in a car without an efficient car air conditioner during the summer. At this time of the year, the air conditioner is not only necessary to keep you cool but also to prevent heat-related ailments. The popularity of car air conditioners has also increased the general awareness about them. However, there are still a few things that you may not know about air conditioners.

To help you out, we have listed 5 tips that can help you boost your car AC’s efficiency.

1. Roll Down The Windows

There is a way to quickly cool down your car without cranking the air conditioning system all the way up. Once you get inside your car, roll all four windows down, then start driving. You wouldn’t have to go faster than 10 or 15 miles per hour just to let fresh air circulate inside your car. Just drive for a bit that way to force the hot, stagnant air out.

2. Park Away From Sunlight

Parking the car cool can help the AC to perform efficiently. Keeping your car away from direct sunlight or keeping it under the shade helps to avoid overheating and it also makes it easier for AC to cool better. If the AC is already super hot before you turn it on, it may take longer to cool the car.

3. Recirculation Mode

After turning on the car AC for a while, you should enable the recirculation mode once you start getting cool air. The recirculation mode makes sure that the AC does not pull the air outside and uses the air available in the car cabin. This mode helps the AC to cool the car quickly without much effort.

4. Clean AC Filters

Dirty AC filters can obstruct air intake. Due to this, the appliance takes longer to cool the car resulting in hefty fuel bills. It is advised that you should keep your car AC filters clean. Experts suggest that you should clean the filters from time to time. If the filters are too clogged, you should go for a replacement.

5. Set The Temperature

People believe that the car AC will provide better cooling when the temperature setting is set to low. However, that is not the case. 24 degrees is considered the ideal temperature for the human body and any AC will take less load to achieve that target compared to the lowest temperature setting.

One batch of yogurt can be used for a variety of recipes and uses, including plain yogurt, yogurt salad, and hair cures. It is less expensive and has a lot more to offer in terms of health advantages and flavour.

What Does The Store Bought One Have?

The thickeners in the store-bought one are gelatin (glue made from animal bones), pectin (a bio-polymer acid, a lab-made substance), powdered milk, etc, and more. Moreover, artificial sweeteners are heavily processed and treated. The store-bought one also makes the probiotics and nutrients get digested out. This prevents your body from receiving the possible health advantages.

Auto sales drop in August as well: What’s next?

Pakistan automobile industry

The auto sales dropped 54 percent in August this year – from 20,931 units sold in August 2021 to just 9,600 units sold this year in August.

Pakistan’s auto sector is embracing a crisis at the moment. Production has dropped due to choked supply of imported parts amid imports curtailment by the government.

The sales are also seeing month-on-month drop of 17 percent from 11,591 units sold in July. The sales also dropped in July by 52 percent year-on-year and 56 percent month on month.

Experts say auto sales will remain under stress throughout fiscal year 2023. According to JS Research, the auto sales in fiscal year 2023 will remain 25 percent lower than what it was in 2022.

Another auto sector expert Arsalan Hanif thinks the sales may drop between 30 percent and 40 percent during fiscal year 2023.

“Amid escalating car prices and expensive auto financing, demand for cars struggles to remain afloat,” writes auto sector analyst, Wasil Zaman, in his report. “Administrative controls on imports have also impacted the supply side that has led to plant closures.”

Honda has said that it was expecting 3-4 non-production days for their plant in September. Toyota has so far announced two 15-day plant closures – first half of August and second in the ongoing of September. Suzuki has announced the shutdown of their plant since mid of August which still continues.

Zaman says the market was expecting a bigger dent on September’s auto sales due to these closures. “We anticipate a drop of more than 25 percent for the full fiscal year 2023,” he added.

Impact of floods is likely to take a heavy toll on Toyota sales as a major chunk of the company’s sales come from rural areas.

However, Zaman says all these may not erode profitability of the sector much because of recent aggressive price hikes.

Floods to take a heavy toll on auto sector

Arsalan Hanif says the auto sector performance is directly linked to the economic performance of the country. If a country’s economy performs, it means people, on an aggregate basis, have earned more than previous year therefore they are expected to spend more.

“The impact of floods will also haunt Pakistan’s economy too and it may restrict economic growth. Since the economy is expected to struggle, so would the auto sector,” he added.

Experts have also pointed out that floods in many parts of the country especially in rural areas have wreaked havoc on crops too. Pakistan has been forced to spend its limited foreign exchange reserves on import of essential food items to control skyrocketing prices.

This will force the government to keep imports of other items such as car parts called CKDs restricted which the industry was expecting to alleviate post September.

Arsalan added that the high policy rate has also made auto financing unviable for many therefore sales through auto financing is also expected to remain low.

The multifaceted issues with the auto industry as well as the struggling Pakistan economy is expected to remain for at least one year.

Therefore, the auto industry may perhaps be embracing its worst year since 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic emerged and the auto sector remained one of the worst hit sectors across the globe.

What Is Cloud Seeding Technology And Its Role In Climate Change?

cloud seeding

Pakistan has been ravaged by floods but we’re not the only ones suffering from climate disasters. As the northern hemisphere continues to experience heat waves, wildfires, and severe droughts, climate scientists and engineers are attempting to control the weather directly. They have come up with a new method to control weather disasters, here’s how:

What’s Going On?

The temperatures are consistently reaching 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). In China especially, in the province of Sichuan over the past two months, the longest heat wave has been going on. It is being described as a drought that is “adversely affecting drinking water security of rural people and animals and the growth of crops”. The heat is also driving the Yangtze, Asia’s longest river, to record low levels.

What Is Cloud Seeding?

The Chinese government has started a project termed “cloud seeding”. This is in an effort to provide rain as a result of the dire situation. To give you context, when the water vapor-containing air climbs into the atmosphere and cools, frozen particles are created. A cloud develops when enough of such particles group together. Then, the frosty specks mix inside the cloud. As a result, depending on the temperature and other weather factors, the combined droplets eventually become large and heavy enough to fall to the ground as rain, snow, or hail.

cloud seeding

Cloud seeding involves introducing tiny amounts of silver iodide to these clouds. Silver iodide is a salt with a crystalline structure resembling that of ice. These particles can be launched into the air from the ground or from a plane or drone to carry out this process. This technique could bring about rain. Cloud seeding is about inducing rain.

Not The First Time

In the 1940s, US researchers, at the General Electric Research Laboratory, made the first discovery of cloud seeding. The technique is currently employed in a number of nations throughout the globe though it is not so well-known. China is the most recent example, and Beijing has previously used the method to bring on rain in advance of the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Moreover, in order to prevent rain from ruining major festivals, Russia is renowned for using cloud seeding. Could countries benefit from this when they are going through a drought?

There are 101 ways Apple is convincing you to buy their latest iPhone, the iPhone 14. They’re enticing fear, they are promising a camera unlike any other and they even maintained the price despite inflation. However, the one thing that is roping people in is the promise of battery life. Here’s what the rave is about:

What Is Being Claimed?

The claim made is that the iPhone 14 Plus has “the greatest battery on an iPhone yet”. However, many are suggesting now that that is in fact a lie. It comes after new evidence from a Chinese regulatory database reveals statistics otherwise! Last year, this database had revealed to Apple fans the battery sizes for the iPhone 13 models, as well as the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops.

Now, it is showing that all iPhone 14 models, with the exception of the somewhat less powerful iPhone 14 Pro Max, have slightly bigger batteries than their forerunners, the source claims. The source focuses on ‘only slightly’ not as exaggerated as Apple claims it to be.

The Battery Capacities

The 13 Pro Max outperforms even the iPhone 14 Plus if you look at the statistics. The largest iPhone battery ever is not seeming that convincing.

The battery capacities for the iPhone 13 series are as follows:

  • Phone 13 Mini: 2,406 mAh
  • iPhone 13: 3,227 mAh
  • iPhone 13 Pro: 3,095 mAh
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max: 4,352 mAhiphone 14 iphone 13

Here are the battery capacities for the iPhone 14 series:

  • iPhone 14: 3,279 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Plus: 4,325 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 3,200 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 4,323 mAh

How Long Can They Go?

According to Apple, the iPhone 14 can play back video for up to 20 hours, stream a video for up to 16 hours, and play audio for up to 80 hours. This is in comparison to the 19 hours of video playback, 15 hours of streaming video playback, and 75 hours of audio playback that iPhone 13 gave.

The figures are in front of you. The difference isn’t that massive and so, the largest battery ever slogan seems like a marketing technique at best.

Amazing Steps European Countries Are Taking To Help People Pay Their Energy Bills

Europe is facing massive increases in energy bills. Driven by rocketing gas prices as the Ukraine conflict and European sanctions on Russia heighten concerns over gas supplies.

Meanwhile, inflation has jumped to a new all-time high of 8.9 per cent in July in Europe for the 19 countries bound by the euro, fueled by rising energy costs.

Here are some of the policies Britain and European Union member states have announced to help shield consumers.

United Kingdom

Britain has a price cap on the most widely used household energy contracts. However, energy bills will jump 80% to an average of 3,549 pounds ($4,188) a year from October, regulator Ofgem said. Calling it a “crisis” that needed to be tackled by urgent and decisive government intervention.

Forecasters expect bills to be just below 6,000 pounds through next year. Since the cap is raised further, meaning households could be paying nearly 500 pounds a month for gas and electricity. Which is considered a higher sum than rent or mortgage for many.

In May, the Conservative government set out a 15-billion- pound support package to help households. Every household will receive a 400-pound credit on their energy bills from October.

More than 8 million low-income households receiving state benefits are also being given a further one-off 650-pounds. As well as additional help for pensioners and disabled people.

Greece

Greece has spent about 8 billion euros on power subsidies and other measures since September 2021. It will double subsidies for power bills next month to 1.9 billion euros, extending financial support introduced last year to shield consumers from surging energy prices.

The subsidies will absorb up to 94% of the rise in monthly power bills for households and 89% of the rise for small and medium-sized firms.

Greece has imposed a cap on payments to power producers to reflect their real production costs, effectively scrapping a surcharge on electricity bills.

Italy

In early August, Italy approved a 17-billion-euro aid package to help shield firms and families from galloping energy costs and rising consumer prices. That comes on top of some 35 billion euros budgeted since January to soften the impact of sky-high electricity, gas and petrol costs.

Energy bills

Italy is also considering preventing energy companies from making unilateral changes to electricity and gas supply contracts until April 2023, according to draft measures approved by the government in early August.

Norway

Norway has been subsidizing household electricity bills since December and now covers 80% of the portion of power bills above a certain rate. This will be increased to 90% from September, with the scheme to remain in place until at least March 2023.

France

France has committed to capping an increase in regulated electricity costs at 4%. To help do this the government has ordered utility EDF. Which is 80% state-owned, to sell more cheap nuclear power to rivals. French energy regulator CRE said last month it was proposing a 3.89% increase in regulated electricity sales tariffs.

Poland

Poland has announced tax cuts on energy, petrol and basic food items, as well as cash handouts for households. It has also extended regulated gas prices for households and institutions like schools and hospitals until 2027.

The government July agreed to a one-off payment of 3,000 zlotys ($648) to households to help cover the rising cost of coal. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said the total cost of curbing energy prices in Poland will reach around 50 billion zlotych.

Spain

Spain has begun to temporarily subsidise fossil fuel plants’ power costs in a bid to bring down high prices in the short term. The system is due to be in place until May 31, 2023.

It has also cut taxes to reduce consumer bills and announced 16 billion euros in direct aid and soft loans to help companies and households whether energy prices.

Why Are People Asking ‘Almarai’ To Change Its Packaging

Middle Eastern brand ‘Almarai’ has garnered the attention of social media as people asks the brand to change its name and packaging.

Almarai-Controversial Marketing?

Almarai is a popular middle east brand with a variety of food products under its belt. However, recently, their latest product packaging created a social media uproar when netizens started calling out the brand for looking similar to ‘Durex’. The blue name tag mimics the graphic and people can’t help but think about the brand known for its marketing stunts. Take a peek at the brand packaging and be the judge yourself.

Is the Internet Reasonable?

The entire Facebook community has come together to debate the matter. Some people thought that there is nothing wrong with the packaging and then there were some who didn’t understand the context behind it. Meanwhile, others thought that it’s a marketing ploy to make them think about a certain brand. The lack of relevancy deems this reasoning wrong. However, some of the users were a little too excited to compare the two brands.

“Omg looked like chocolate Durex to me😂. I was like what the hell? Selling on wholesale or what.” One user wrote.

At the same time, many users mentioned that they are thankful for not being the only one who thought that it was Durex.

Many users also shared that the product placement is inappropriate for a brand selling chocolate milk. Hence, the utter confusion leads people to think otherwise.

What are your thoughts about the comparison? Do you think Almarai should reconsider its branding? Or do you think people should stop comparing the packaging of different products? Let us know in the comments below.

In Support of Flood Victims, realme screened the Finale of Asia Cup 2022 at UCP Lahore

realme has always maintained its position of being a youth-centric brand. For this reason, the smartphone brand strives to bring engaging events to the Pakistani landscape that cater to youthful interests such as music, technology, and sports. In the month of August, realme brought a unique sporting event for the youth with the realme Mega Azadi Ride and with that promised to bring more sporting events for its fans in the future. realme, being in tune with what the youth wants, partnered with Khiladee to bring an exclusive screening of the Asia Cup 2022 finale match to students of University of Central Punjab (UCP). The proceeds from the entire event were donated for the rehabilitation of flood victims in Pakistan.

Having a history of working with realme previously, the campus has also been host to the PUBGM realme Gaming Championship 2022 while also being the launchpad of the realme C3 and realme 5i. Khiladee is Pakistan’s first sports tech startup with the mission of uplifting Pakistan and its image through the realm of sports, bringing the country together under the umbrella of camaraderie and sportsmanship. After a checkered match history during the Asia Cup 2022, the Pakistani team stepped up to the plate to face the Sri Lankan team in the finals this past Sunday, October 11, 2022. The stakes were higher than ever as the winning team would walk away with the trophy and title of the entire championship.

The UCP student body turned up in full force to witness the outcome of this nail biter of a match with around 700 – 1000 people in the crowds cheering Pakistan on through the ups and downs of the final match. Students gathered in the open courtyard where setup was done by the realme team to create the vibe to enjoy the final match. A photo wall set up by realme provided an opportunity for students to strike fun poses with props such as a bat, a trophy, and a sign supporting the Pakistani team, to hype themselves up for the night’s sporting event. A screen was set up outside where the match was to be broadcast interspersed with ads of realme products in the breaks.

The crowd roared and gasped with every big hit, catch, run, and wicket in the tight T20 match. Commentary went along with the match, provided by UCP student representative, Zurgham Hussain. To keep the crowd hyped throughout the match, a quiz was also conducted of realme and cricket trivia which gave the crowd a chance to win exciting realme giveaways. The students enthusiastically participated in the session and a lucky few walked away with exciting realme merchandize. The green shirts signed by star players of Pakistan’s men and women Cricket Teams were also auctioned at the event to collect funds for flood affectees.

As the tables turned in the final match, the crowd remained spirited and hopeful that Pakistan would pull through. The energy in the air was charged with the spirit of camaraderie and unity as the students of UCP anxiously awaited the final over and the outcome of the tournament. While Pakistan may have not taken the Asia Cup trophy home at the end of the night, the UCP student body still left the venue with a warm feeling of community. Cheering alongside each other and experiencing the dynamic nature of professional cricket together through the generosity of realme and Khiladee was a bonding experience like few others.

What is Web 3.0?

The internet is evolving into its next phase, and early birds will get to take the worm home. Are you prepared to handle the digital revolution at hand?

If you are reading this piece, know that you owe it to Tim Berners-Lee, the father of the modern World Wide Web, or the internet for short. Not only did he revolutionize the digital world, but he laid a path for the digital world to keep building upon itself, all the way up to the present, where the dawn of Web 3.0 is upon us.

So what is this Web 3.0, and how is it different from the current internet we use? For that, we need to take a quick peek at the past of the internet in the days of its inception, adolescence, and all the way up to the present.

A Brief History Of The Web

Web 1.0

Internet was born on January 1st, 1983; also called the Arpanet, it wasn’t much but a form of communication for computers. Early developments led to the creation of what we now refer to as Web 1.0, developed by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). It was nothing more than just web pages containing images and text joined together by hyperlinks. For the most part, it was non-responsive and characterized by its adoption by big businesses.

Web 1.0 had nothing much to offer except for reading, viewing, and browsing to a certain degree; the pages were static, and there was no interactive activity. Services like Yahoo News and other read-only websites were able to make the most of it and develop a corporate presence.

Web 2.0

Simply put, the internet we use today is defined as Web 2.0. Characterized by its rich and responsive design, it heralded the era of human interaction in the online world, responsiveness, content creation/generation, and web app development. Basically, each page on Web 2.0 is a software application that can do so much more than just display information.

This is the interactive era of the internet where users can create their own content, share it, and make it interactive for themselves and other users (posting comments, etc.). Common examples would be Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms of similar nature. Users can also create their own blog websites that would give them the freedom to own their own content, while the content posted on bigger social platforms is owned by them instead of the user; a major drawback of Web 2.0.

Web 3.0 – How It Will Revolutionize the World

So why Web 3.0 when Web 2.0 seems nothing short of perfection? Well, where Web 2.0 is powered by a ton of programming and has its limitations (information overload, data manipulation, hacking, identification forgery, too much freedom, etc.), Web 3.0 will not only be above and beyond that but it will be powered by machine learning and big data. Ever asked Alexa or Siri for something and received a spot-on answer? Well, that’s a portion of Web 3.0 for you, semantic, but far better than what we have at present.

Not only will it be more personalized, but it will also offer better search capabilities with a far more powerful app experience than you could imagine. Best of all, security will be at the heart of it; Web 3.0 will help create a digital future where we will be living perpetually digital lives, except the experience will be 100 times intensified.

Among the major perks Web 3.0 has to offer, we have decentralization. What it means is that you are the owner of your content. If you post a video on YouTube or a post on Facebook, you are actually not the owner but the platform. Whereas on Web 3.0, thanks to decentralization, you are the owner of your own content with all of the rights. No big platform can dictate you anymore1

The next, perhaps the biggest perk of Web 3.0 is the Metaverse. With the incorporation of AR and VR, users will be able to access the Metaverse, a virtual world where they will have the freedom to develop their content, assets, and even digital property. And this is just the tip of the iceberg! Web 3.0 is in the early stages of its development, and with time, who knows where it will take us? Web 3.0 is a world of its own with unlimited digital possibilities. From assets (NFTs) to property and all the way to currency (cryptocurrency), Web 3.0 will have it all.

Future Prospects for Pakistani talents

With that being said, let’s turn to what prospects it holds for the Pakistani talent. As a young nation where the majority of the population consists of tech-inclined youth, not only could Pakistan be one of the earliest adopters of Web 3.0 but a pioneer in its development and future expansion across the globe.

Pakistani talent has made us one of the largest exporters of digital services, with global investors realizing the latent potential that still remains untapped. From working in multinationals to new startups popping up on a daily basis, the tech space can greatly leverage the Pakistani youth. But we ourselves can become early adopters of the technology and lead the South East Asian region into the new digital era. It’s the next big thing, and if you snooze… as they say, you lose.

Conclusion

Buckle up, folks, the big bang of Web 3.0 could go off at any time in the coming future. Of course, the changes will be gradual but know that they will be permanent, and Pakistan can be the web 3.0 powerhouse. We need to not only educate ourselves on the up-and-coming phase of the internet but become apt at its development and deployment to establish ourselves as leaders of the new age of the internet and for this I have written a book “Milking The Metaverse Cashcow”. As the metaverse is now the future and a new concept for a lot of people, this book will help you to grasp knowledge and help you become a part of it and how to enter in the world of Web 3.0. With this I can help the newer generation to step up and make a mark for development, growth and innovation, giving them the freedom to bring out their creative hat.

Being a part of a platform where it possible to image the inevitable and and bringing it to life, to be able to tap into a virtual world while being present in the real world, this was something that was just a dream and that has now has become a reality and learning as well as thriving in it is what this book beholds; to the future.

In addition to this we will be announcing the mega metaverse city “MCity” project very soon which replicates the idea of luxurious lifestyle in the world of Web 3.0 and elevate your experience in the metaverse, where you can socialize, learn, explore, grow and even earn and with this virtual reality you can make it as your own by living in the future

Pakistan’s Situation

In Pakistan, the pre-orders for these iPhones are currently being accepted. However, the prices are just as insane as we had predicted. At Rs. 419,999, the entry-level iPhone 14 with 128GB of storage is as expensive as we had thought. This is even more money than the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s initial asking price of Rs. 370,000.

The iPhone 14 series, which consists of the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max, are open for pre-orders. The iPhone Mini has been overpowered in Apple’s lineup by the iPhone 14 Plus. Mini’s market is low because it’s seen as the iPhone that looks just like the rest. The plus model is essentially a larger version and contains the biggest battery on an iPhone yet.

Why The Price Hike?

The price hike is due to the rise in import taxes. The tax was also applied to laptops, graphics cards, and other gadgets in addition to phones. As a result, the price for the iPhone 14 Plus starts at Rs. 459,999. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at Rs. 489,999, and lastly, the Pro Max variant costs Rs. 529,999.

The 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max is predicted to retail for a whopping Rs. 689,999. This is currently the most expensive smartphone offered in Pakistan. For that amount, you could purchase a used entry-level automobile or a number of brand-new motorcycles if you need some context.

If you have that much cash, your phones will be delivered to you in October. Apple will start rolling them out in October and then all the pre-order demands will be met. Whatever the case may be, we suggest buying directly from Apple. On top of these prices, if people charge profit too, you’re going to be gone!
