Alizeh Shah In Trouble After Production House Files A Complaint Against Her

Alizeh Shah is back under the radar of social media, and higher authorities as a reputable production house have filed a complaint against the actress.

Alizeh Shah In Trouble

The news came to light as the production company filed a complaint to the UPA (United Producers Association). According to the details of the notice, the actress left the shooting of her upcoming drama without informing the producers. The shooting was happening in Kashmir, and the actress’s sudden departure landed the production house under financial stress.

The reports also notified the Ehd-e-wafa star’s worsening attitude on the set. It was mentioned that Alizeh Shah was throwing tantrums and her entitled attitude made the work dynamics difficult for everyone on the set. Hence, the starlet left the set of “Mohabbat Ki Akhri Kahani” un-announced. Mohabbat Ki Akhri Kahani is a multistarrer production by Eveready Pictures and stars Sami Khan in the lead.

While there is no news about the decision of the complaint, it is arbitrary to mention that Shah has been termed ‘’unprofessional’’ and ‘’rude’’ by her fellow co-stars on certain occasions.

The Past Complaints

Previously, actor and director Yasir Nawaz, in an interview, mentioned Alizeh Shah as ‘the most difficult actress’ to work with. Meanwhile, many other actors, including Zarnish Khan and Naveed Raza set the record straight about the actress’s problematic behaviour.

Zarnish Khan added that the actress tends to hold grudges on set with her fellow co-stars. She also called out shah by calling her Batamez since she has no regard or respect for her fellow actors.

Since this is not the first time, the actress has been called out for her unprofessional behaviour. However, this might be the final blow to her career. Alizeh Shah had been away from the social media highlights after the controversies related to smoking, her infamous outfit at the lux style awards and later Yasir Nawazs’ statement.

Despite everything that has happened, the actress might have difficulty staying consistent in her career moving forward.

Poor Quality Of Clothes – What Are Local Clothing Brands Up To?

poor quality local clothing

The latest ban on imported items from abroad, including clothing items, has left many Pakistanis stressed and confused. Where do they get their clothes from then? In an ideal world, we wouldn’t be bothered by this because our local industry would be making impeccable clothes. However, that isn’t the case with Pakistan! The local industry’s clothing standards and policies are hopeless and here’s a deep dive into this topic:

Read more: Elan’s Reputation Gets Tarred After Hundreds Expose Its Scam

The Poor Quality

The Facebook group called ‘Voice of Customer’ often makes you want to lose all hope entirely. Just 2 minutes of scrolling will bring forth at least 10 complaints about experiences with poor quality clothing from local shops. For instance, jeans from Breakout are losing their color after one wash. Beechtree’s clothes start tearing apart after one wash. Then there’s Sana Safinaz who is said to have terrible stitching!

And the worst part is these are just the most famous ones— what are other brands up to then?

Eid Fiasco With Ethnic

On the Eid-ul-Fitr that just passed, we covered extensively what Ethnic was up to. Ethnic is a local brand that makes desi, as well as, western clothes. On Eid, 90% of the people who bought from Ethnic had a terrible experience. The color bled out, clothes got torn, stitching was open…. you name it, the issue was there.

These instances are one too many, especially with Ethnic who can always continue operating without any accountability.

Why The Poor Quality?

These complaints are only those that are brought to our attention through social media. Imagine the whole range of complaints that go unheard or simply are not logged on social media. They indicate that the local clothing landscape is struggling— there are too many buyers and the demand is too great hence, companies feel they can create whatever.

After all, where else can we go now? In countries abroad, the complaint ratio would be less than half and even the other complaints would be catered to. Customers come first, don’t they? Unfortunately, in Pakistan, they don’t with no refund or exchange policies available half the time. We’ve grown used to being scammed and letting those who scam us leave scot-free. If we all came together and boycotted these brands today, perhaps others would learn something too!

State Bank’s LC Restriction To Affect Two Month Production Of Cars

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has restricted opening Letter of Credits of several industries and the auto industry remains one of the most affected by the issue, which was created in the aftermath of falling foreign exchange reserves to worrisome levels.

According to car manufacturers, the LC crisis could lead to up to two months of idle production of the auto industry. It means many car assemblers have been forced to abandon their plant operations because their import supply of parts has been halted.

Toyota, listed as Indus Motor Company in Pakistan, recently announced that the State Bank of Pakistan’s LC approval constraints for CKD imports and drastic rupee devaluation are causing considerable problems for the auto industry and have disrupted its production.

“Thus, we are unable to meet the tentative delivery timelines committed on pending orders. The prevailing situation is being reviewed and we will be soon announcing the revised delivery schedule as well as the re-opening of order intake,” IMC stated in a notification.

The State Bank has been forced to curtail imports amid foreign exchange reserves depletion into dangerous level. It fell below $9 billion recently, but a recent approximately $2.3 billion payment from neighboring country China has helped Pakistan regain a slightly comfortable $10 billion level.

Reports suggest that many car companies have suspended operations at their plants amid a shortage of CKDs (completely knocked down units). CKDs are disassembled major car parts that auto companies in Pakistan import from countries including Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and China.

LC is a financial instrument that is used in international banking transactions carried by businesses to import goods from other countries. The LC has to be done through a country’s central bank such as the State Bank in Pakistan’s case. The State Bank gives sovereign guarantee to foreign exporters’ banks that importers in Pakistan will honor the payment contract. If the State Bank doesn’t allow it, there is no other way for companies to import.

The State Bank has been forced to curtail imports amid foreign exchange reserves depletion into dangerous level. It fell below $9 billion recently, but a recent approximately $2.3 billion payment from neighboring country China has helped Pakistan regain a slightly comfortable $10 billion level.

Master Changan Director Sales Shabbiruddin has been quoted as saying that the LC issue may halt two months of car assembling. When an import order is placed with LC, it normally takes 45 days to two months for the CKDs to reach the factory.

It means many auto companies could see their production lines remaining idle for up to two months. At this point in time, car companies aim to assemble cars for 10 months in the fiscal year 2022-23.

This issue, along with other issues such as the State Bank’s car financing restrictions, high policy rate, rising car prices and inflation may see auto industry contract by 30% in the fiscal year 2022-23.

The auto industry is keeping its fingers crossed just like many other industries that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) soon resumes its programme in Pakistan and the country receives IMF loan tranches.

Starting the IMF programme will also pave the way for other donors to initiate loan payments to Pakistan as IMF programme resumption gives them confidence that Pakistan has the capacity to pay back the loan they would give it – means the country may not default, which remains a major concern for the donors.

Gaming Community To Thrive In Pakistan

Game development involves more than simple traditional programming, including coding graphic components, developing features, and testing iterations. Working in this field is undoubtedly challenging, but game development is incredibly rewarding.

We are well aware of the fact that the world is moving toward digitalization, and as a result, Pakistan’s young and talented developers have already been captivated by the potential of developing digital games. With such enthusiasm, several game developers have proved that Pakistan is home to a vibrant and growing number of game developers. Year 2020 was a landmark year for Pakistan in terms of Global Gaming downloads, revenue and time spent.

Research has shown that the emerging industry will become a $219 billion market by 2024 and is expected to cross $340 billion by 2027. Such numbers have enticed a lot of developers in Pakistan to step into this industry. In 2022, various initiatives like Think Games and Gaming Growth Lab garnered appreciation from all corners of the gaming industry of Pakistan.

These initiatives intrigued many developers with the online gaming community being made aware of numerous opportunities, by Think Games. It’s incredible to see how Google supports game developers by offering the latest tools and solutions that can help them achieve sustainable growth, whether they’re looking to go global or seeking revenue opportunities.

Through the workshop, it was revealed that Pakistan games have generated the most revenue from North America and Europe. During the timeframe of 2018-2021, the revenue has increased by 125 per cent and gained more momentum during the pandemic surge. Pakistan game developers have done a phenomenal job in Casual to Mid-core subgenres, and are well-positioned to capture the growing demand. Local developers like Hazel Mobile Group, Game District, and GeniTeam have gained recognition on the international stage.

On the other hand, Google’s Gaming Growth Lab effort was aimed at finding and developing the upcoming generation of top gaming companies. The programme lasted 11 weeks, and Google provided the developers with intense training and assistance. By tackling their business challenges, the initiative was undertaken to assist Pakistan’s emerging mobile gaming studios in realizing their full potential.

Participants had access to a wide spectrum of Google and gaming industry experts during training courses and received in-depth consultations. A total of 54 mobile gaming studios graduated after completing the programme. Being the 4th largest talent pool with 350k developers under its belt, it is fantastic to see such initiatives being taken in Pakistan. It demonstrates how Google’s efforts have sparked the enthusiasm of talented game-creators in the country.

To top it all off, Google came up with the most recent trends, insights, and research to help developers comprehend the prospects in gaming – thus fulfilling the long-desired wishes of digital devotees who were anxiously waiting for such initiatives. Such practices for the gaming ecosystem would undoubtedly help Pakistan to rise to the top of the global gaming market.

How to Remove Movies & TV Shows From ‘Continue Watching’ on Netflix

Netflix

Netflix has become a recent favorite of mine for combining all my favorite shows and movies on one single platform. Considering we are all in quarantine, the use of the streaming app has considerably increased.

With the increase in usage, I have discovered many new options that Netflix has updated, such as the top 10 tv shows/films in the region, etc. which are excellent. However, the most annoying existing option is ‘Continue Watching.’ Why? Because sometimes I don’t want certain shows/movies on the list.

It has happened multiple times that I have played a tv show/movie and not liked it. So how do I remove such films and shows from my ‘Continue Watching’ list? Well, for android users, Netflix just introduced a way for the very first time.

To remove any show/movie off the list, there’s a little “three-dot” menu icon on the title that you can conveniently select “Remove from the row,” and you’re done!

For Apple users, just fast forward to the end of the movie or the very last seasons’ last episode, and that should do the trick too.

Just recently, Netflix came out with another feature of turning off one of its most annoying features, the autoplay of trailers when you hover over any title. You can now turn them off too.

‘Continue Watching’ can also prove to be a great feature if you’re binge-watching your favorite TV show. You can start exactly where you left.

Happy quarantine!

Share your favorite tv shows in the comment section below for us to binge-watch too!

Chaudhry The Martyr: A Biopic That Drops The Ball Despite Good Intentions

Chaudhry Aslam was a Karachi-based Pakistani police officer, who rose to fame for his bravery and fearlessness. He arrested several criminals‎, terrorists, eradicated gang wars, and extortionists belonging to different political parties particularly when unrest in Karachi was at its peak. Unfortunately, in 2014 he was killed in a targeted bomb blast.

To pay tribute to this courageous encounter specialist, a biopic under the production of Neha Laaj, directed by Azeem Sajjad was released on June 24th titled Chaudhry The Martyr.

It is an extremely rare genre that is explored within the Pakistani film world precisely because it is a delicate territory and the stakes are high in retelling a real life story. Few films in history have managed to toe the line between fact and creative liberties and this one clearly falls flat.

Written by Zeeshan Junaid, the film features Tariq Islam in the title role, who also happens to be a cousin of Chaudhry Aslam and is a DSP himself. The casting seems right as far as the looks are concerned, the resemblance is there which, of course, is an important aspect in a biopic but as far as the facial expressions, command over dialogue and mannerism, with exception to the white shalwar kurta and salt n pepper beard are concerned, Islam fails to deliver a good performance.

There are a few other actors in the movie, but they play underdeveloped characters and fail to impress. Bhurra, the Bengali gang leader played by Amir Qureshi was frankly, quite unbearable. You also get to see Arbaaz Khan – whose voice is dubbed by someone else and the sound quality is overall very poor overall – and Azfar ( from the famous Azfar Mani show) as police officers appearing off and on in between scenes. There is another couple whose love story has been used as the most nonsensical plot device adding to the already yawning narrative. However, Kallu another gangster played by Sohail Sameer, Shamoon Abbasi and Saleem Mairaj justify their roles. Not to forget there is Sana Fakhar too as Aslam’s young wife.

To add a bit of spice, there is an item song Aatish performed by Amna Illyas who looks pretty and has done a great job, however, she could have been dressed in a better costume though. Choreographed by Wahab Shah, the song is a bit of relief for it has been shot and edited creatively.

The film also stars Yasir Hussain as Kashaan, a young journalist interested in documenting the life of Chaudhry Aslam. He narrates most of the incidents taking place in Chaudhry Aslam’s turbulent life and the film keeps fluctuating between the present and flashbacks, trying to capture history chronologically in the worst of manners.

One simply wonders it would have cost less finance and struggle to the makers had they opted for a documentary rather than a drag feature-length fiction.

Why Are Antagonists In Pakistani Dramas ‘Modern’

Pakistani dramas have come a long way from just depicting typical stories. The production quality has significant upgrades, and so has the film industry side-by-side. Ever wonder how we are moving forward with full speed while also portraying our antagonists as ‘modern’ – particularly women?

A Twitter user tweeted,

The tweet has been making rounds on Twitter because, in reality, this is the truth. This is precisely how women are portrayed in Pakistani dramas. A protagonist has to be dressed in a pair of jeans and a tight shirt as if the character’s wrongdoing is justified because she is ‘modern.’

Someone’s attire has nothing to do with who they are as a person, what their moral values are like, or what they might as well have achieved in life.

The reality is that these dramas do not portray our society the way it is!

Humsafar, a popular drama by Farhat Ishtiaq, directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, also depicts the bad women as modern.

Film and tv play a massive role in setting stereotypes. It is high time we stop portraying women as evil while also being modern. Don’t get me wrong; a character can be evil and also ‘modern’ at the same time, but when there is a pattern, and it is repeating, people notice and, more importantly, ‘learn behavior.’

We Need More Dramas to Portray Strong Characters of Women

Pakistani dramatist, playwright, and scriptwriter, Haseena Moin’s plays, were much admired as they portrayed women of strong character such as Marina Khan’s character Sanya in “Tanhaiyaan” or Dr. Zoya in “Dhoop Kinare.”

The characters in Moin’s plays portrayed women who were resilient, secure in the face of adversity, and independent. They had a strong sense of ethics and morality that earned the respect of those around them, including their male counterparts. They were role models for future generations.

We hope our industry starts giving the content as much importance as production and stops manifesting modern-day women as ‘Evil.’

10 Tips To Sell Your Car Faster For A Great Retail Price!

sell car online
PC: PakWheels

The internet has revolutionized the way people buy and sell cars. Instead of waiting for a long time, trying to find the right deal at the dealership, its high-time you demand the price you want.

You can now use video broadcasting sites such as YouTube, social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and, more importantly, online car classified sites to make an effective online sales pitch.

But just like any other market, is it merely enough to say “I am selling my car”? No. There is a need for more.

So how can one sell their car while sitting in the comfort of their home with much ease that too at a reasonable price?

Read on to find out about these ten tips to sell your car faster for a great retail price!

1 – Know Your Target Market (Optimize)

You need to know the nuts and bolts of the car market to make a quick sale. With the right amount of knowledge, you can sell your car at a much better price.

2- Set an Appropriate Price

Price matters a lot while selling a car, mostly when you sell it in a price-sensitive market like Pakistan. So go through the prices for the same type of car you are selling (you can do this online). Then price it accordingly. Don’t underestimate and don’t overestimate.

3. Add-Ons Add Value

To increase the worth of your car a bit more, don’t keep it purely stock but add a bit of add-on that does not spoil the car’s original look but only buffers it up.

4. Presentation Matters

Presentation ALWAYS matters, no matter how good your car is, if not correctly buffed up, it might not give you for what it’s worth.

5. Wash and Disinfect

Everybody needs grooming and so do our cars. The unsaid rule of keeping one is to keep it well washed and polished at ALL times.

How To Disinfect Your Car & Personal Space From COVID-19!

6. Click Hi-Res Pictures

Now you are all ready to click some high-resolution pictures of your car. Why High Resolution Only? Because simply put, your buyers would want to see your product in detail.

7. Get the Paperwork in Order

One of the most common flaws in online deals is when the paperwork of the car is not complete. Even with a single paper missing, the buyers slash down your car’s price tremendously. So instead of blaming them, get your documents together.

8. Tell the Buyers Everything (No Lies!)

When completing the description for your car, write as much detail as possible, and use descriptive keywords to ensure clarity and accurate information for the buyer.

9. Give Detailed Specs

Tell them precisely what your car holds; the more detailed it is, the better idea you give out to the buyer.

10. Use Keywords

Use keywords that match the exact make, model, and specifications of your car, for example, Honda Civic VTi 1.8 i-VTEC Prosmatec, 2010.

There’s A Zero-Star Hotel & It’s Offering Sleepless Nights

A hotel room that features luxury pillows, idyllic rest, and no walls or doors, has generated buzz on social media. A dream hotel for introverts we must say!

Zero-Star Hotel

The hotel room is an art installation by Swiss concept artists the Riklin brothers. The “Null Stern Hotel” — which translates to zero-star hotel — typically consists of beds in idyllic locations in Switzerland such as vineyards and rolling hills.

The Swiss concept artists’ hotel room features a double bed on a platform. Along with two bedside tables and lamps. There are no walls, ceilings, or doors to provide any privacy or shelter.

According to the booking site, instead of getting a good night’s rest, “this new version aims to keep you awake and offers a place of reflection on current affairs such as the climate, the economy, security or equality.”

Guests are invited in their ‘half sleep’ to consider topics like climate change, war, and humanity’s endless competition for perfection and the damage it causes the planet.

“Sleep is not the point,” said Frank Riklin. “What’s important is reflecting about the current world situation. Staying here is a statement about the need for urgent changes in society.”

His twin brother, Patrik Riklin, continued, “If we continue in the same direction we are today, there might be more anti-idyllic places than idyllic.”

Success Story Of Bagallery

Bagallery was founded in 2017 with the vision to be the preferred fashion, beauty, and lifestyle shopping destination for women and men alike. The company has immense success with one of the best influencer networks in Pakistan and a very strong mix of the local and international brand portfolio.

Today, Bagallery is an emerging e-commerce platform with 2.7 million users and 500,000+ satisfied customers.  It is not an overnight success, a lot of struggle went into the platform for it to reach this stage. It all started with Mina clicking pictures of products from her phone and uploading them on Facebook. Mina was passionate about bags and makeup and used her passion to convert it into a career when she noticed a gap in the Pakistani market for branded products and used that opportunity to bridge the gap by selling authentic branded products in Pakistan sourced from UAE where she lives.

Later on, as the demand increased, Salman Sattar joined hands with Mina to help grow the platform. He was working as Director of Sales at Frieslandcampina Middle East at the time. Salman brought 15 years of his experience in the industry to this start-up, resulting in a change in the beauty and fashion industry and taking Bagallery up a notch.

Eventually, the business started to expand and it was next to impossible for Mina along with her husband, Salman, to manage it all on their own. They decided to expand and got onboard young talent to manage the business here in Pakistan, at the same time www.bagallery.com came into existence.

The start of the website came with a lot of technical difficulties especially due to the influx of orders they were receiving. Another challenge was the lack of funds to invest in a high-end website that is able to meet the needs of the customers. Mina and Salman took one step at a time to develop the website and their business. Fast forward to 2021 and after a lot of struggles and hard work later they were able to secure a funding of USD 4.5 million which changed the course of action. They have been able to invest in the betterment of the website alongside a team of young and highly motivated individuals who have been instrumental in the success of the company.

Bagallery has come a long way with a team of approximately 150+ individuals under the mentorship of Salman as he has been a coach for the team ever since the inception of Bagallery.

When Mina was asked about her definition of success as an individual. She said, “My definition of success is to reach out to the maximum number of women out there to guide them about real beauty and make them aware of self-care.” According to Salman, “I will consider myself truly successful when I am able to inspire other startups and motivate youngsters on their journey of becoming an entrepreneur.”

In March 2022, the co-founders along with the Bagallery team organized the first-of its-kind on-ground beauty and fashion expo, GlamFest’22 in Karachi. Over 500 brands such as Loreal, Unilever, Neutrogena, Remington, etcetera were a part of the event. The event had fashion shows, makeup masterclasses, influencer meetups, celebrity interactions, skin consultations, hairstyling, food stalls, concerts, and much more along with a smooth shopping experience. It was attended by more than 100,000 people, making this two-day event a huge success. After the success of GlamFest in Karachi, Bagallery arranged a similar exhibition in Lahore in June 2022.

As far as the platform, Bagallery is concerned, the united power of all the co-founders and the team is the reason behind the success of Bagallery and it does not stop here. They are constantly looking to reach new milestones by employing new strategies and continue to stay as the leader in the beauty and fashion industry of Pakistan.
