Simple Stupidity Or Just Another Attempt At Defaming Pakistan?

The final resting place of a loved one is a sacred and cherished site for many people. Unfortunately, bad things can happen to graves that can cause distress and pain for those left behind. Vandals or thieves who may deface or desecrate the area.

Many such cases are heard where people dig up graves and do unspeakable things to dead bodies or to what remains of them. These events can have a significant emotional impact on individuals and families. However, to protect their resting loved ones from such incidents, people have now started to put locks on the graves.

This picture above is of a locked grave that was “supposedly discovered” in Pakistan. This and many more similar allegations were headlining multiple Indian news and media channels. The rivalry between India and Pakistan has always been there no matter what the issue but apparently, that day, Indian news channels had nothing better to talk about than this news. They tried to sell it as best as they could but things soon took an embarrassing turn for them. All we can say is that “One shouldn’t be too quick to judge.”

The media was accusing Pakistan and its citizens of all nasty, eerie, and horrible things. Turns out they were eventually accusing themselves of all that. Funnily, one of their own journalists soon took to Twitter and cleared the misconception. The locked grave was in fact located in one of the graveyards in Darab Jung Colony, Madannapet, Hyderabad, Telangana, in India.

Indian journalist, fact-Checker, and co-founder Muhammad Zubair at AltNews analyses misinfo/disinfo across India. Zubair was the one who discredited all fake news by bringing out the truth on Twitter. Here have a look at his tweets to understand the full story. 

After putting all the facts straight, he also shamed all of the Indian media for blindly posting, circulating, and selling such sensitive news without doing any background checks. He also criticized them for deliberately adding fuel to the fire with disgusting allegations just because the picture was “supposedly” from Pakistan.

Scientists Develop Lego Machine To Grow Human Skin

Cardiff University pharmaceutical researchers collaborated to develop a low-cost 3D bioprinter that can manufacture human tissue samples to lower this barrier. The first three items they acquired were common Lego bricks, Lego Mindstorms bricks (which weren’t specifically made for robotics until late last year), and a common lab pump. The team worked in collaboration with Cardiff engineers and biologists to design, assemble, and program the device, ultimately creating a 3D bioprinter for just £500 ($623).

Bioprinting For Organ Development 

Utilizing “bio-ink,” a substrate containing living cells, researchers create tissue using the more recent 3D bioprinting technique. The medical industry, which over the past few years has done everything from 3D printing a human ear to generating lung replicas, is expected to benefit most from this technique. The limited supply of human transplant organs could be supplemented and typically invasive surgeries could be carried out in a less invasive manner thanks to 3D bioprinting, researchers say.

However, the cost of 3D bioprinting is a major obstacle. Both the bioprinters and the materials they need to print are pricey. While some of the cells in bio-ink are derived from donated organs, there are ethical considerations when using cells from tissue removed during surgery.

The typical incubation period following Monkeypox virus exposure is 1 to 2 weeks before symptoms manifest. The flu-like symptoms listed below are among the early indications of monkeypox.

  • Human Monkeypox symptoms typically begin with a generalized, all-over malaise. Flu-like signs appear, including fever and muscular aches.
  • Swollen lymph nodes develop.

New SOPs Issued For Smuggled And Non-Custom Vehicles In Pakistan

Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently issued new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the clearance of smuggled and non-custom-paid vehicles in the country. These new procedures aim to streamline the clearance process and ensure that only genuine and legally imported vehicles are allowed on Pakistani roads.

Smuggling has long been a problem in Pakistan, with many vehicles being brought into the country without paying the appropriate taxes and duties. This not only deprives the government of much-needed revenue, but it also creates an uneven playing field for those who import and sell vehicles legally.

Vehicles will be subjected to thorough checks

Under the new SOPs, all vehicles brought into Pakistan will be subject to a thorough examination to verify their authenticity and ensure that all taxes and duties have been paid. This examination will be carried out by the relevant customs officials, who will also be responsible for issuing the necessary clearance certificates.

Punjab Police Implements Compulsory Hijab For Female Officers

Punjab police have been improving their practices and ways for a long time now. They are often praised for it and now they have decided to win the publics hearts once again. One of the rules of living in an Islamic state is that women have to cover their heads with headscarves otherwise known as hijabs. However, in modern and liberal Islamic states like Pakistan, the idea of headscarves or the hijab is becoming obsolete. But apparently not for the Punjab Police.

Punjab police have now made the hijab compulsory for their female police officers. It is now a mandatory part of their uniforms. Next time you see any female police officer on duty she is likely to be in a hijab.

The decision to make headscarves mandatory for female officers in the Punjab police force was based on a survey that was conducted among women personnel to know their opinions on wearing headscarves with their uniforms. The survey results showed that a majority of the female officers were in favor of wearing headscarves, with olive green, black, and blue being the most popular colors. The logistics department of the Punjab police force has been directed to provide the scarves in these colors.

The Punjab police aim to promote religious and cultural diversity within the organization while also ensuring that all female officers feel comfortable and respected in their workplace. Additionally, the scarves will complement the uniform and create a sense of uniformity among the officers.

The Punjab police force hopes that this new policy will encourage other organizations to promote diversity and inclusivity in their workplace as well. The introduction of the headscarf as a mandatory part of the uniform is a small step towards creating a more inclusive and accepting society for all.

Mortein Partners with Pandamart to Achieve a ‘Dengue-Free Pakistan’

In 2022, Pakistan was hit with devastating floods, economic uncertainties, and a severe dengue outbreak, with over 76,000 recorded cases affecting millions of people. Given the lack of a dengue vaccine, protection and prevention measures are crucial to combating the disease.

Mortein, a leading brand of Reckitt, has taken on the mission of making Pakistan dengue-free. To achieve this goal, Mortein partnered with Pandamart to create a plan for protecting citizens from  vector-borne diseases. Fumigation drives were conducted in areas of Karachi that were particularly vulnerable to dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Educational literature was distributed to over thousands of families to raise awareness of the disease and its prevention measures.

People living in slums and underprivileged areas are more vulnerable to these vector-borne diseases due to bad living conditions and not following preventative measures. Thus, Mortein wishes to protect these areas from mosquitos, allowing the residents to live a life without the fear of fatal diseases. Additionally, standees were also placed in hotspots to further educate the public on prevention.

Talking about the collaboration, Faisal Waheed, CEO, Reckitt Pakistan said, “Dengue is a life-threatening mosquito borne disease, which puts millions of lives at risk in Pakistan every year. We are very grateful to announce that Mortein has partnered with Pandamart to ensure that our communities are safe, by carrying out fumigation drives at several different locations in the city. Standard Chartered Pakistan Reports Strong Q1 2023 Financial Performance

Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited recorded a strong pre-tax profit of PKR 16.1 billion in Q1’23, an increase of 37% compared to the previous year, driven by growth in income, cost discipline, and risk management. The Bank achieved its highest-ever quarterly revenue of PKR 20.4 billion, a growth of 43% across all segments. Operating expenses increased by 25% compared to the comparative period, consistent with inflation, as a result of efficient and disciplined spending. A prudent risk approach combined with recoveries of bad debts contributed to a low net charge of PKR 0.2 billion in Q1’23.
