pakistani celebrities

Our Pakistani entertainment industry is not just great, but it keeps on becoming greater. It strives to get to heights unknown, which is only possible because individuals in the industry want to grow and become better. That said, there are some Pakistani celebrities who could think of other careers because they seem like they would excel in them as well. This does not mean that they can’t act; few of them are amazing actors. But yes, some could take acting classes.

We have listed some of those Pakistani celebrities for you!

1. Azfar Rehman

Okay, this one is not ours. It’s Yasir Hussain who said that Azfar Rehman should be doing something else. After this statement made headlines all over the media, Yasir discussed it in yet another show saying that he had said it because Azfar had given him financial advice before the phenomenon became mainstream. And that’s why he had chosen Azfar’s name if he was to select someone who was to leave this industry and do something else.

2. Mawra Hocane

Considering Mawra already has a law degree, she can totally decide to completely leave the industry and still have a future outline. And we think Mawra should totally do it. This is because we have seen her as a VJ and man; can she talk. She would own the courtroom.

3. Shahroz Sabzwari

While his ex-wife is the gorgeous Syra, who looks fantastic in every dress, and his current wife Sadaf Kanwal, who is a stunning model and knows how to take over the stage, Shahroz is not that good of an actor. He has done several dramas and also some films, and they haven’t been that great, but he keeps on pressing for it. He really needs to go for something else, and that something can be a full-time religious scholar.

4. Saboor Aly

Even though Saboor has a great amount of talent for acting, but Sajal achieved fame before her. And that’s why Saboor’s light gets overshadowed by Sajal. Saboor should think of another career if she wants to get out of that shadow.

5. Danish Taimoor

It seems that only one of the partners can have the talent. After Shahroz, we have Danish Taimoor, who is the husband of the amazing Ayeza Khan. He, too, has not been able to prove to the public the extent of his talent.

6. Fahad Mustafa

An amazing host, actor, producer, Fahad is in his prime doing extraordinary work in all these fields. But seeing how severely he trolls the public that visits him, he could definitely leave everything and become a troll-er!

Do you think the article is click-bait? Guilty. But if you believe that there are a few more Pakistani celebrities who could be added, let us know in the comments.

Bumpy Road Ahead For Car Companies

High prices, increase in taxes, and interest rates to squeeze car demand

The government is looking to increase the advance tax of bigger engine cars (1600cc) in the budget 2022-23 while high price, increase in interest rates, inflation, and increase in restrictions by the central bank on auto financing is expected to reduce car demands by up to 25%.

The auto industry displayed a significant growth of 50% in the 11 months of the outgoing fiscal year 2022. Car makers sold 251,000 units (data of car assemblers who are members of Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association).

However, experts say the sales may drop below 200,000 units in fiscal year 2023 amid increased advance tax, also known as withholding tax, on cars above 1600cc.

The sector was already struggling to keep the last year’s momentum amid rising policy rate, which has reached to 13.75%, State bank’s restrictions on auto financing such as reduced tenure (from 7 years to 3 years in bigger cars and from 7 to 5 years for cars below 1000cc) and a maximum loan availability of Rs3 million from banks.

Experts say this would significantly affect demand since up to 40% car sales used to come from auto financing. Moreover, historic high inflation would also reduce buying power, subsequently affecting car sales.

The car sales of bigger cars of engine size 1600cc and above may also see their sales declining due to increase in advance tax in the budget, which is likely to apply from July 1, 2022.

Car buyers of engine sizes between 1600cc and 1800cc will pay advance tax of Rs150,000 after an increase of Rs75,000. Buyers of automobiles of engine size between 1800cc and 2000cc would pay Rs200,000 after an 100% increase.

Tax on cars between the engine size of 2000cc and 2500cc has also been doubled to Rs300,000. The advance tax will now be Rs400,000 for vehicles between engine size 2500cc and 3000cc instead of Rs200,000. Buyers of vehicles above 3000cc will now pay Rs500,000 after 100% increase.

The government has already been impeding car sales amid the current account crisis and depletion of foreign exchange reserves.

The car assemblers have become a thorn in the eyes of the regulators since the industry highly depends on imported parts and raw materials. The government has been making efforts to reduce imports to reduce the current account deficit.

According to car assemblers, up to 90% of a car cost incurred in manufacturing is accrued due to imported raw materials and parts. Even localized parts, which are manufactured in Pakistan, have imported raw materials such as steel and plastic raisins used in their production.

The auto industry has been criticized for not localizing despite being in the country for four decades. The industry criticizes the lack of affiliate industries such as auto-grade steel producers and plastic raisin producers in the country for lacking in localization.

They also criticize stagnant demand in the country and claim that localization would increase once the industry crosses 500,000 units per year of production. The high sales would decrease the fixed cost per part of car parts manufacturers when they establish expensive parts manufacturing plants. It would make them price competitive.

You have even avoided taking pictures when you wanted to because… well, your hair decided to do its own thing. You have DEFINITELY tried to cover your hair with that silk scarf or even that baseball hat!

FRIZZ-HAIR CRISIS:

Just when you are preparing for the summer, ready to explore new looks and styles you’re hit with the Frizz-Hair crisis. Your perfect summer look, straight out of your favorite Instagram posts ruined. Your expectations shattered; your summer spirits crushed. All because of the rough texture of your hair. The one that makes it look like you have straightened your hair over a hundred times and then proceeded to walk through a windstorm! And nothing seems to be calming those hair down. So, you wish, oh how you wish there was something you could do about it. Something you could do to take control of that frizz instead of it controlling you!

Say No To These 6 Things:

Take control of that Frizz by avoiding these 6 things and see how your hair game changes!

Number 01: No To Steamy Showers!

As relaxing as hot showers can be they are not good for your hair! Hot water opens the cuticles in your hair causing them to frizz! You do not have to skip out on relaxing showers, just lower that temperature a bit before you decide to wash your hair.

Number 02: Say No To Wrong Products!

Do not go in blind shopping for hair products! Make sure you know what your hair requires for growth, shine and its texture. All products cater to different types of hair. Know what is good for yours! For super frizzy hair Pantene has the perfect solution for frizz control i.e. with Pantene Goodbye Summer Frizz and its 3 step range that includes shampoo, conditioner and oil replacement cream that cleanses, moisturizes your hair and the oil replacement cream locks moisture for 72 hours for frizz control.

Number 03: No Regular Towels!

Throw that towel in the bin! If your hair is special so shall your towel! Regular terry towels remove too much moisture making you hair frizzy!

Number 04: Say No To Cotton Pillowcases!

Cotton Pillowcases tend to absorb more moisture. It tangles your hair as they tub against the pillow causing them to tangle. So, buy yourself some silk/satin pillowcases and avoid losing moisture!

More moisture less frizz!

Number 05: No Hair Touching!

As tempting as twirling your hair seems, do not give in! Twirling hair breaks up your curls causing them to frizz. So, the next time you find that hand creeping towards that strand… have some self-control!

Number 06: Say No To Brushing Curls!

Do not, I repeat do not brush your curls when dry! Only do so when you have conditioner or some sort of hair product in your hair to detangle, so you avoid causing the frizz.

Hot Summers: 10 Things You Need To Avoid Keeping In Your Car

In summers, heat is the only thing that you want to get rid of. The first thing that most drivers do while slipping inside their parked car is to look for the air-conditioning controls. But if your car is parked a whole day in the sun, then the odds are that the quick heat built up in the car has damaged daily usable products.

Even if the temperature outside is somewhere around 16°C, the car interior can get warm to 38°C (100°F). Weather experts say that when the temperature outside is 30°C, the temperature of the cabin can rise up to 60°C. Moreover, studies have demonstrated that 80% of the average temperature rise happened within 30 minutes of the car being parked.

Read on and get to know the top ten things you should never leave in your car.

1. Electronic Devices

You would never leave your home without having the smartphone, laptop, portable charger, or any other electronic device & extra batteries with you, so why risk leaving them behind in your car? Hiding them might trick the thieves, but it might lead to heat damage!

Many electronic & battery manufacturers warn against exposing them for a prolonged period of time to high temperatures, as it reduces the capacity, and impacts the efficiency & the mechanism of most of your devices & batteries! It will leave you with expensive repair bills!

2. Medication

Medications such as antibiotics are always notified to be stored in a fridge. Whereas, other everyday medicine should not be exposed to temperatures over 25°C, as inscribed on the packing. In simple words, one should follow storage instructions.

3. Lighters

Smokers should be very careful about leaving cigarette lighters in the car, they’re a real fire hazard if left in the sun. It can be tempting to throw them on the dashboard or an empty passenger seat but it’s much safer to put them in your pocket so it leaves the car with you.

4. Sunscreen

If you are diligent about sunscreen then chances are, you have an extra pack stocked in your car. As important as sunscreen is to protect your skin during summer, and is always advised to carry some when you travel, it is equally important NOT to leave any in your car, especially during those hot summer days! Getting a shortened shelf life and losing its effectiveness are some of the downsides of exposing the sunscreen to high temperatures, which also might harm your skin.

5. Beverages

It is obvious to keep water bottles in the car in such a heated summer, but there are many health-related issues that may arise over the use of plastic bottles that contains Bisphenol A and phthalates. These are the chemicals used as a binding agent, making plastics flexible. When these plastic water bottles are left in hot car make these agents to be released into the drinking water.

6. Damp Clothing Items

Dump your swimming gear or damp towels from a day at the beach in your car, and you’re creating a breeding ground for infection-inducing yeast and bacteria.

7. Sunglasses

If you wear glasses solely to drive, it does make sense to keep them in the car, but be careful, as the lenses can act as a magnifying glass and actually cause a fire. Plastic frames can melt and warp in the heat, and if you have metal framed specs, don’t be in a hurry to put them on if they’ve been in the car, they could be hot enough to burn you.

8. Makeup

All ladies like to keep an emergency beauty kit close by for midday touch-ups, a quick dinner outgoing, or to simply keep looking best at all times. But keeping these costly products in the car for a long time might cause them to melt, a color change, or even chemical skin harm! Avoid leaving those costly products in your car, especially during hot weather.

9. Handbags & Wallets

Bags are also very attractive to thieves as they’re likely to contain credit cards, cash, mobile phones, and other valuables. Full of high-touch items, they’re also a breeding ground for bacteria which is massively amplified in warm conditions

10. Pets & Children

It sounds weird, but in recent times, there have been many such cases where drivers leave their kids or pets in the car in case of a rush to a supermart for grocery shopping or maybe for some other reason. But, it’s clearly not acceptable to leave any living being in the car. This should be noticed that the temperature outside would not be the same as in a parked car – say if the temperature outside is 40°C, then the temperature inside can rise up to over 60°C.

The Untapped Potential Of Women In Pakistan

Pakistan has a lot of potential for growth but undeniably, one of the biggest untapped resource is its significant female population that still awaits inclusion in the national economy. As per the World Economic Forum’s 2021 Global Gender Gap Report, Pakistan ranked 153rd out of 156 countries, which indicates massive strides the country needs to take to ensure gender diversity and inclusion of women in its socioeconomic mainstream.

Source: Pakistan Labour Force Survey 2020-21

As per the last published Pakistan Labour Force Survey 2020-21, numbers show stark disparities along gender lines. Women’s participation in the national labor force is most concerning being 21.4 per cent of the country’s working-age population, as against the male labour force marked at 67.9 percent.
We interviewed Rabel Sadozai, the newly appointed Director Marketing and Sales at Fatima Fertilizer and the first female to hold such a prominent position in Pakistan’s agriculture and fertilizer sector, to discuss the potential role of Pakistani women to promote the country’s socio-economic prosperity and what it will take towards its realization.

B: How important is it to be recognized as the first woman in Pakistan’s agriculture sector to hold a senior-level management position?

RS: I consider this recognition as a true representation of millions of empowered women, directly or indirectly associated with the agriculture sector of Pakistan. It gives me the opportunity to use my influence for the betterment of farmers in general and female farmers in particular. A recent example of this commitment was marked by Sarsabz – the flagship brand of Fatima Fertilizer, hosting a special panel discussion at the Pakistan Pavilion in Dubai Expo 2020 to celebrate our three exceptionally inspiring female farmers and share their inspirational stories with the World.

The guest panelists included Rabia Sultan – progressive farmer from Muzaffargarh who defied all odds in a male-dominated profession, Nazo Darejo – a brave woman from Sindh who sacrificed a great deal to protect the piece of land she called home and whose inspirational story was highlighted by Sarsabz through a special web series called ‘Kissan Kahani’ to a wide online audience, and Azra Mehmood Sheikh – a progressive farmer from Bahawalpur who actively advocates about the hardships faced by farmers in South Punjab.

Being able to introduce Kissan Day to Pakistan is something that I will always be proud of, as it was not only recognized by the country and its industry stakeholders, but it has also become an annual event to be celebrated on December 18. The campaign was so influential that it was selected by Kotler as a case study in Essentials of Modern Marketing – Pakistan Edition.

B: Tell us about your journey of nine years at Fatima Fertilizer and your key accomplishments related to marketing communications?

RS: I was able to achieve a number of goals during my nine years at Fatima Fertilizer, and I took on as many marketing communication challenges as I could, but being able to introduce Kissan Day to Pakistan is something that I will always be proud of, as it was not only recognized by the country and its industry stakeholders, but it has also become an annual event to be celebrated on December 18. The campaign was so influential that it was selected by Kotler as a case study in Essentials of Modern Marketing – Pakistan Edition.

Over the years, I’ve used data to establish how Fatima Fertilizer’s products are giving on average 10% greater yields as compared to conventional fertilizer. This brand promise has been purposely communicated in such a manner that it shows how a farmer can create a better life for himself and his family that leads to prosperity of the village and eventually impacts Pakistan’s GDP as agriculture contributes on average 22-25%.
We also launched true farmer stories under Kissan Kahani to help educate our stakeholders on the impactful role our farmers are playing in helping sustain Pakistan’s food security.
Overall, our efforts have been duly recognized not only by local platforms such as the Pakistan Digital Awards but also the global ones including MARCOM, AVA, and Effies.

B: In your opinion, what factors are responsible for the under-representation of women within the corporate and civil sectors of Pakistan?

RS: Women may be under-represented in these sectors but not in the agriculture sector. Women are extremely empowered on the rural side to help not just with domestic housework but field work and livestock farming as well. I feel it is my responsibility to clarify this common misconception. As far as corporate and civil sectors are concerned, I feel women are deprived of an environment that helps them balance work and home responsibilities efficiently. The key to my success was not only my ability to effectively manage the roles of a team leader, manager, wife, mother, and so on, but the fact that I was given an environment where I was empowered to manage and balance these roles. Employers whether government or private need to realize that the needs of women are different from men. We need policies and benefits that match their circumstances. For example, women need to feel secure while stepping out of their homes for work, they need to be given daycare facilities or an equivalent allowance to manage it, maternity leaves and so on. According to recent studies, the gender-wage gap in Pakistan has reached 55.6 percent, which is concerning, to say the least, because a woman has to weigh the benefits of her working against the associated costs.

B: How many Pakistani women are currently engaged in Pakistan’s agriculture sector and how can they claim more important roles within this industry?

RS: Currently, more than 22 million women work in the agriculture sector and contribute to the advancement of this sector. As per an earlier issued report by UN Women titled “Rural Women in Pakistan-Status Report 2018”, agriculture is the main labour activity of rural women with approximately 75 percent of women employed in the agriculture sector. The empowerment of these rural women and the realization of their human rights, in addition to their important role in nation-building, is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) related to gender equality.
Women need education foremost followed by skill-set enhancement. Companies like ours work with a lot of progressive females and seek to empower them by giving them an opportunity to project their work. For example, we recently helped Ms. Jugno Mohsin, a female farmer who worked to revive a dying breed of local cotton called ‘Khaki Desan’, by providing her with the technical knowledge and giving her the opportunity to create a fabric from this cotton which can be marketed to a global audience.

B: How important is women’s participation to achieve overall economic growth and prosperity for the country?

RS: I think our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam made it clear that women had to work side by side with men if we are to transform Pakistan into a strong and prospering nation. Now whether we do it starting from our homes, schools, offices or factories is dependent on a mix of our own capabilities and opportunities available to us. Women are almost 50% of Pakistan’s population, so there is no question that a big responsibility rests on our shoulders to help develop our home i.e. Pakistan, and I believe being aware of this responsibility is the first step we need to take.

Previously, Samsung Pay was used to manage payment cards only. On the other hand, Samsung Pass handled passwords. Now you get to have all of that together in a single app.

New Updates

SamsungWallet, the new and improved, also integrates with the Blockchain Wallet app. As a result, users can monitor their digital assets and verify the value of cryptocurrencies. This also exceptionally works for SamsungWallet because Apple Wallet does not have this. The app also intends that in the future many applications may start containing digital documents. For instance, driver’s licenses. Samsung Wallet is trying to become an app that can store all types of credentials in one place. It’s all about creating comfort and peace from just one thing rather than too many.

Samsung Wallet now also has SmartThings. This is a really cool feature through which you can store your digital car and home keys. If you have a compatible BMW, Genesis or Hyundai car, you can store the digital keys of your car in the Samsung Wallet app. This will help you seamlessly unlock and start your car using your phone.

Where Is It Available?

The app is currently available in the United States, United Kingdom, and the following European countries: France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. We know we have sold you on the app so far but hold your horses. This is only available in select few countries so far and it is also only applicable in a few Galaxy versions.

McDonald’s Pakistan Just Made A ‘Sacri-fries’ & People Are Sad

mcdonald's pakistan sacri-fries

McDonald’s Pakistan has made huge sacri-fries and it’s hitting people where it hurts most: their McDonald’s meal. The fast-food place just announced the change they will be making to all their meals in the near future and it is beyond upsetting and concerning. Here’s what you should know before you order your next McDonald’s meal.

The Big Sacri-fries

The big sacri-fries just announced by McDonald’s Pakistan is that fries will only be served in the regular size. This is because of the global supply chain issues that are being faced when it comes to potatoes. We covered a while ago for you that in one country, Burger King just stopped serving fries altogether. This is because potatoes were simply not available in abundance anymore.

McDonald’s has said that for the time being, they will only be serving regular fries with all meals. For Pakistanis of course they had to clarify one thing: that the prices of the meals will also be adjusted. You can still order different sizes of meals except you will only get regular fries with them. Have a look at their ad:

The Decision

The ad is impactful, we have to say. To come up with the title “Sacri-fries” was creative and will bag people’s attention. This plays more into their favor because the blow of getting fewer fries can be cushioned. However, this is also really concerning.

It means that the global supply chain issues of potatoes have come to Pakistan now too. Can Pakistanis potentially live without potatoes? We think not. Let’s hear and see what other fast food joints say about their potato-based dishes.

What Do People Have To Say?

The people are crying wild on Twitter and it’s justified. For many of us, McDonald’s fries are home. They make us feel loved when nothing is going right. How can we have less of it?

Here’s Why Revlon Has Claimed For Bankruptcy

Revlon, the 90-year-old multinational beauty company, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after being weighed down by debt load, disruptions to its supply chain network and surging costs.

Revlon In Debt Amidst Supply Chain Disruptions

The filing was in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The New York-based company expects to receive $575 million in financing from its existing lenders, which will allow it to keep its day-to-day operations running. None of Revlon’s international operating subsidiaries is included in the proceedings, except for Canada and the United Kingdom.

The company, which also owns brands including Elizabeth Arden, Almay, and Cutex, and fragrances fronted by Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, faces delisting from the New York Stock Exchange following its filing with the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of New York.

The collapse of Revlon’s finances follows a downturn in the beauty sector during the height of the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the group has been hit this year by ingredients shortages and steep cost rises. Sales had continued to lag pre-pandemic levels.

“Today’s filing will allow Revlon to offer our consumers the iconic products we have delivered for decades while providing a clearer path for our future growth,” CEO Debra Perelman said in a statement Thursday.

“Consumer demand for our products remains strong – people love our brands, and we continue to have a healthy market position. But our challenging capital structure has limited our ability to navigate macro-economic issues to meet this demand.” She further added.

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Chapter 11 filings allow a company to continue operating while it works out a plan to repay creditors. Revlon said in a statement that it’s lined up $575 million of so-called debtor-in-possession financing from existing lenders to fund itself during bankruptcy.

The rise of the competitor brands, including Fenty beauty and kylie, has also made a revolutionary change in the beauty world. With brands coming up with launches every other month, keeping up with the trends is difficult, especially under demanding circumstances.

Revlon’s problems only intensified with the pandemic, which hurt sales of lipsticks as people masked up. Sales fell 21% to $1.9 billion in 2020 but rebounded 9.2% to $2.08 billion in 2022 as shoppers returned to pre-pandemic routines. In the latest quarter that ended in March, sales rose nearly 8%. The company avoided bankruptcy in late 2020 by persuading enough bondholders to extend its maturing debt.

In recent months, Revlon, like many other companies, experienced industry-wide supply chain challenges and higher costs. The beauty company said in March that logistical issues hurt its ability to meet customer orders. It also said rising prices stymied it on crucial ingredients and persistent labor shortages.

Tips On How To Survive Till The End In PUBG Mobile

surviving in PUBG mobile till the end

PUBG Mobile has become one of the most widely played games of all time. It all started off from a tournament and it has developed into something more. You can find quite a lot of players on the map these days. A person does not even have to wait long before finding an online match. The pandemic has only helped in speeding up the popularity of the game. Being forced indoors has brought a lot of people together through PUBG Mobile. However, there are certain tips and strategies to this game.

When you are released on a map with 100 other players, your survival chances may not be too high. If you land in a player infested region, you might find yourself dead before you even pick up a melee weapon. So, what are these tips that can last a player till the end of a PUBG Mobile match? There must be something that we can do to survive till the end.

1. Don’t Engage In Unnecessary Firefights

It takes quite a lot of brain to know when to attack and when to defend. Many times, you may get an opportunity to shoot a passerby player. However, if you are not armoured and armed well, picking a fight could land you in deep waters. What if the other player has a long-range weapon and you have a shotgun? Pick your fights cleverly. Sometimes, it is better to hide and wait till the perfect moment strikes.

2. Stick With Your Teammates

If you are playing with a squad, it would not do well to run off and attempt a solo match. You may come face to face with a whole enemy squad. It takes an immense amount of skill to do a squad wipe so it is better to stick with your team. This way, you can keep pushing forward till the end, without being in big trouble.

3. Go From Cover To Cover

If you are playing solo and a highly defensive game, then it is better to keep moving whilst in cover. If you are in an open area, we suggest you go prone and slowly make your way out of the area. People may not shoot you in the open area, but they might tail you for a while and shoot you when you least expect it. It is always recommended that you take cover when under fire or when crossing open areas.

4. Wait For Health Regeneration

You don’t want to run into a firefight when your health is low. It is better to hide away and let it regenerate for a while before going back in. It is also wise to use the medical kit before re-engaging in a battle. Revival can be difficult when teammates are far away or dead so make sure you hide for regeneration. Apart from that, keep extra health packs on you for quick healing.

5. Know Where To Land

This must be emphasised quite a lot. How you start a PUBG match can depend a lot on where you land. If you are in a player-infested area, you might want to salvage as quick as possible, with whatever weapon and armour you can get. If you are in an empty area with fewer supplies, you might have to hide for a while before coming upon good drops. So, it is of utmost importance that you know where you are landing. If you wish to play it safe, landing in a residential area can be beneficial.

The map gets smaller as time progresses in PUBG mobile. It is an important survival tip that you know where the map is going to pinpoint the shrink zone next. This way, you can plan in advance and lie in wait for approaching players. You can always hide near the end of the shrink zone and pick off players as they struggle to enter the safe zone.
