TikTok’s Q4 2022 Community Guidelines Report Released

As of April 13, 2023, Pakistan TikTok, a well-known platform for short videos, has just published its most recent Community Standards Enforcement Report for Q4 2022 (October–December 2022), continuing its dedication to a multifaceted strategy to combat false material on the network. The report demonstrates the platform’s continued dedication to gaining trust by being honest and striving to create a friendly environment.

The total number of videos removed globally in the fourth quarter of 2022 was 85,680,819, or around 0.6% of all videos published on TikTok. Automation eliminated 46,836,047 videos in total, while 5,477,549 videos were recovered.

In Q4 2022, 12,628,267 videos were taken down in Pakistan due to violations of the community guidelines. The site terminated accounts for breaking the community guidelines as well as accounts it found to be spam and the spam videos they had submitted. Also, it took proactive steps to stop spam accounts from being created automatically.
In Q4, 95.5% of offensive films in Pakistan were taken down within a day, and 89.7% were taken down before anyone could watch them. In Q4 2022, the proactive removal rate was 98.8%

In addition, 17,877,316 accounts that may have belonged to individuals under 13 were eliminated internationally in Q4. During the fourth quarter, 54,453,610 bogus accounts were also deleted.

The Community Standards for TikTok are intended to promote an environment that values authenticity, inclusivity, and safety. The rules of TikTok are universally applicable to all users and all material, and they aim to be applied consistently and fairly. TikTok uses a combination of cutting-edge technology and human resources to find, examine, and deal with content that contravenes the platform’s rules. The amount and nature of content and accounts deleted from the network are revealed in the quarterly Community Guidelines Engagement report. Adobo Mexican Grill Owner Denies Salary Deduction Allegations

Adobo Mexican Grill is one of the very first Mexican food chains in Karachi. It has 8 years of popularity and any restaurant’s success solely depends on its staff and workers. Apparently, the owners of Adobo forgot to keep this in mind.

Recently, A Tiktok user posted a video right outside of Adobo where he filmed the restaurant’s workers who complained and cried about the owner’s mistreatment and about not getting their salaries. Turns out the workers called the police on the owner mid-duty after they completely stopped working. The kitchen supervisor complained that the owner is almost always drunk and all he does is come to the restaurant and yell at them and verbally harass them. He talks about how the owner crossed all limits and even raised a chair to hit one of the workers. “Bol raha hai jis thanay ko bulana hai bulao, jis government ko bulana hai bulao, staff ko band karwata hai, without salary fire karta hai aur kehta hai salary nahi doon ga”,  said the kitchen supervisor.

Another worker even cried out that the whole staff is observing fasts the whole day and even then they work for Adobo so it is very inhuman of the owner to mistreat them like that. One staff member was also supposedly fired without being paid just because he went out to get iftar food to break his fast. The workers even pleaded whether this was the treatment that workers would get in any other Muslim country.

Soon after this accusation video went viral, Asad Vayani the owner of Adobo Mexican Grill took to Facebook and wrote his statement. Unfortunately, because he put out his side of the story in a private food group, the direct link to his status cannot be shared but here is what he said.

“Hello, I’m the owner of Adobo Mexican Grill. I’m sure many of you have seen a video circulating with allegations against me and my business. I just wanted to share some facts about the situation.” 

He claimed that he had been investigating a theft at its branch for some time, which led to the firing of a cashier who was caught stealing. Other discrepancies in inventory and costs were discovered, which prompted the business to monitor everything closely. The staff was informed about this and that they would receive half their salary now and the other half in a week. Some staff members threatened to walk out and call their police contacts unless they were paid in full, which led to a heated altercation.

Despite suspecting some staff members were involved in the theft, the business decided to pay their salaries due to pressure from the owner’s mother and threats received. The owner denied mistreating staff and said that previous cases of not paying salary were due to reasons such as theft or staff not showing up without notice. The owner claimed that the firing of a staff member who disappeared during a busy period was due to repeated warnings and behavior, which impacted customers and the business. The owner denied resorting to physical violence and said that they always had to consider the well-being of customers and other employees who depend on their jobs.

On April 13, 2023, Karachi In keeping with its innovative initiatives for empowerment, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited engaged more than 1200 underprivileged students from HOPE schools in a financial literacy module, which was followed by a lavish Iftaar-dinner. All of the kids in attendance received new outfits to wear on Eid ul-Fitr, which added to the excitement of the evening’s conclusion.

Over 150 Bank volunteers held lessons with the kids on money management and highlighted the digital future of financial institutions. Did Samsung Leak Top Secret Information To ChatGPT?

While utilizing ChatGPT to get assistance at work, Samsung employees unintentionally disclosed private information. The semiconductor division of Samsung has given engineers access to ChatGPT for source code verification.

HEC Steps Into The Future With Cutting-Edge PhD Directory System

Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, launched the Ph.D. Countries Directory Online System on Tuesday at the Pakistan Secretariat of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), in Islamabad. This means that people who want to now register for a Ph.D. can do it easily without any hassle. The government has made it faster, more efficient, and simpler so anyone and everyone can do it.

The PCD registration procedure for people interested in doing a Ph.D.  in Pakistan, the HEC’s traditional Ph.D. Country Directory (PCD) setup has now been automated. Vice Chancellors of several universities, and many Ph.D. students, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Executive Director HEC Dr. Shaista Sohail, and others were present during a ceremony held in this regard at the HEC Secretariat.

The HEC Higher Education Data Repository has created the PCD Online System with the assistance of Information Technology (IT) and other Divisions, which allows for the quick addition of Pakistani PhDs to the HEC data through designated university focal persons. This process can be completed within a few days, without the need for hard copy documentation or application submission which makes it that much simpler and easier.

Previously, the PCD procedures would take many months for any processing to happen. But now with a few changes the online system is better than ever. During the ceremony, Rana Tanveer Hussain praised the launch of the PCD Online System and expressed good hopes that it would be beneficial for Ph.D. scholars without any difficulties. He stressed the significance of using technology in institutional operations to simplify the procedures for the public. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of investing in human capital and highlighted the role of HEC in nurturing human resources for the betterment of the country.

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, the Chairman of HEC, stated that the organization is planning to automate all of its functions and processes in the near future to assist students, faculty, and the general public. He also said that the HEC degree verification system will be linked with the NADRA database to simplify attestation procedures. The main purpose of this initiative, he emphasized, is to enhance effectiveness, increase quality, and provide better facilitation to people.

The HEC HEDR is moving towards a paperless environment and is planning to introduce several new systems in the upcoming months, as announced by its spokesperson. These include an Online Data Collection System, an Online Ranking System, Data warehousing and Analytics, and a Statistical Booklet.

‘Dove’ brand of Unilever Canada has launched its newest campaign to highlight the negative consequences that beauty ideals may have on young people in keeping with its long-running Self-Esteem Initiative along with a billboard in Toronto that demonstrates that these effects can begin earlier than some might think backing that claim.

Dove built a billboard out of 50,000 syringes to symbolize the number of Canadian girls between the ages of 14 and 17 who underwent injectable cosmetic procedures in the previous calendar year.

The Dove Self-Esteem Initiative aims to enhance young people’s body image and self-esteem. Campaigns aimed at parents to encourage them to talk to their children about reasonable beauty standards make up a significant portion of the project. Chinese Scientists Point Fingers At Humans For COVID-19 Outbreak

The COVID-19 outbreak, caused by the original coronavirus, first emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and quickly spread to become a global pandemic. As of April 2023, the virus has infected millions of people worldwide and caused numerous deaths. The outbreak has had a significant impact on daily life, with governments implementing measures such as lockdowns and social distancing to try and control the spread of the virus. Vaccines have since been developed and distributed, but the COVID-19 outbreak has undoubtedly left an enduring impact on the world.

Tong Yigang, a scientist from China, has made a new but not surprising claim that the Covid-19 virus may have originated from humans. During a press conference held by the Chinese State Council regarding research into the virus’s origin, Yigang shared his thoughts.

The Huanan Seafood Market, located in Wuhan, is generally considered to be the ground zero of the Covid-19 pandemic. Genetic sequences of viral samples recovered from the market were found to be “almost identical” to those taken from coronavirus-infected patients. This discovery led to the suggestion that the Covid-19 virus may have originated from humans and not bats. People who visited the market and consumed infected animals to be precise. The presence of such close genetic matches raised concerns about the virus’s origins and how it managed to spread so rapidly around the world.

During the press conference, Yigang provided additional details about the research into the origins of the Covid-19 virus. He mentioned that researchers had collected over 1,300 environmental and frozen animal samples from the Huanan Seafood Market between January and March 2020. They were able to isolate three strains of the virus from these samples. However, Yigang also stated that there was not enough evidence to support recent studies that suggested raccoon dogs may have been the origin of the Covid-19 virus. These results raised new questions about how the virus emerged and what other animal species may have been involved in its transmission to humans.

China has previously, too, faced accusations of obstructing international investigations into the origins of the Covid-19 virus. This has raised concerns about the transparency of the country’s response to the pandemic and its willingness to cooperate with the global community in understanding the virus’s origins. More recently, the World Health Organization has expressed its concern over a lack of critical data from China at the beginning of the outbreak. So, this may make one wonder if Covid was actually just a virus or just another attempt at initiating the Third World Order.

Ayesha Omar Reveals Details About Her Abusive Relationship With Her Ex

Pakistan, unfortunately, is one of those countries, where abuse is very common and most people get away with it. An estimated 5000 women are killed per year by domestic violence, with thousands of others maimed or disabled. But fortunately, now this topic is not much of a taboo and is spoken about openly at least most of the time. Many Pakistani celebrities have also been known to raise their voice and fight against abuse. One of them is Ayesha Omar. The Bulbulay star has always been seen fighting for other underprivileged women.

Ayesha Omar talks about how she was in an abusive relationship for almost 8 years. And even worse, she almost got married to the guy too. She says that she mostly and always gets asked about her engagement and or relationship. To that, she answered that her relationship was serious to the point where even families were involved. “It was almost like a baat pakki.” However, the relationship did not last long since it was extremely abusive but she was too in love to realize it at the time.

Talking more about it, she clarified that she did not want to name or blame the guy or the family. She also revealed that the family was really nice and she is still on good terms with them as for the guy she gave a “what’s done is done” look.

Ayesha then also talked about the phase after being in such a relationship. She tells Frieha that it took her a really long time to move on from the relationship because of how invested she was in it. She also talks about how she was also under the very common misconception of how “the girl and her love can fix the problematic guy”. “Mujhe lagta tha that I can fix him, mera pyaar usse theek kar sakta tha.” she said.

The two ladies then talked about how such relationships involve a lot of asking for forgiveness and coming back and then leaving again. Ayesha agreed by saying that her relationship also had a lot of “maafiyan” and groveling. She reveals that she was abused physically, verbally, emotionally, and even mentally. She said that she was verbally abused all the time because it was the person’s habit to generally abuse. So she would be listening to “gaaliyan” the whole day and he would tell her that “main pyaar mai gaaliyan deta hun”, and like most other girls she believed that this was what love was supposed to be like. Until one fine day, she said “no” and left. She has never looked back ever since, gladly.
