Ever since a picture leaked of a new Suzuki swift being transported on top of a carrier, swift enthusiasts and car owners, in general, have been brimming with excitement and anticipation. The leaked picture confirms that the car has been in local production and will most likely be opening for booking next month, as some unofficial sources had earlier pointed out.

Fans and potential car buyers alike have a lot of questions, and rightfully so. After all, the new swift looks like a major upgrade from the previous versions. The audaciously sporty and modern sleek look surely has all of us wondering what the car will be like in terms of other features.

Things such as safety features, the level of utility, features, colors, engine capacity, price, etc.

So we did some digging and examined the global variant of Suzuki 3^rd generation to try and answer some of these questions.

Let’s start with the exterior which already seems to be a hit on social media. It really does break the monotony that we experience in the hatchback designs and introduces something immediately distinctive with its sporty look, bold curves and as some on social media have called, “good looks” and “aesthetical appeal”. As for the colors, the swift is known for its quirky colors in the global market, so we’re definitely expecting a version of red, maybe even a blue to be introduced alongside the more traditional colors.

Apparently, though, this one has a lot more to it than just good looks. The engine is a one of its kind 1.2L petrol engine which will essentially carve out a new category of its own in the hatchback segment. The 3^rd generation swift, we can safely assume, is going to be equally powerful but more fuel-efficient than its predecessor.

As for the interior, there seems to be a lot of upgrades in that area as well as can be seen from the global variant. Overall, it sports a clean but futuristic design with its dark tone, wide LED (we’re assuming an advanced infotainment system), and sleek, circular air vents. Just below, there are what look like analog volume and Ac control dials but with digital interfaces on them, which is pretty impressive and makes it look high-tech and futuristic. Then there is that beautiful D-shaped steering which adds that sporty look and feel.

On the utility end, this one comes equipped with cruise control (yes, cruise control in a hatchback), steering controls, a climate control feature, a push start, and 6 airbags among other features. Let’s see how much of all this is retained into the locally produced variant. Although 6 airbags and cruise control are a big ask, we have our fingers are crossed.

Finally, it winds down to the question of price and many are speculating what that will be. Although there is no official word from Suzuki Pakistan yet, our bet is it will be definitely upwards of 2.6 million. But a lot depends on the ongoing vehicle prices situation across the industry and how it pans out in near future. Let’s wait till the booking opens sometime in February 2022. Islamabad, 10^th February, 2022; Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (KMBL) – a leading financial institution in Pakistan, has pioneered another technological advancement to add convenience for its customers, with a mobile-banking solution. The President of KMBL – Ghalib Nishtar stated that: “Introduction of this revolutionary service is another milestone in KMBL’s journey towards digital-transformation. Following our vision, we strive to offer highly evolved banking services, on-the-go, round-the-clock, while we are striving to resolve the socio-economic challenges and financial-security issues faced by the masses, especially during the global Covid-19 pandemic. KMBL’s technology-partner for this project is: “Virtual Remittance Gateway (Private) Limited” (VRG) – a TPSP company, duly licensed by SBP and Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), to perform ‘Interoperable-Payments’, along with channeling, routing and switching of electronic-transactions, using Unified USSD service.

Samsung has been getting better and better when it comes to Android update support, often beating Google’s own Pixel phones on speed and longevity. Now, Samsung has announced that it will offer four years of major Android updates on the Galaxy S22 and some other recent releases.

The Software Update Details

The company has promised the whole S22 and Tab S8 families will receive “up to four generations” of Android OS updates, not just security patches, as announced last year. S21, Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3 owners are eligible, too. The exact number of upgrades will depend on the combination of model and market, but this could mean the S22 you buy now will remain current by early 2026.

The expansion gives Samsung one of the longest update policies among Android manufacturers. Even Google is only promising three years of Android version updates for the Pixel 6 series, with security updates lasting five years. While this won’t match Apple’s update policy (typically five to six years of OS upgrades), it could give you a reason to pick the S22 if you either prefer Android or upgrade relatively frequently. You might not have to worry about falling behind during your phone’s practical lifespan.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced an electric vehicle (EV) module in its Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics course. The initiative is taken to develop the future talent pool in India and make them industry-ready through academic upskilling.

The Module Details

“The first EV module for Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) course will be rolled out at Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, (MKSSS Women’s College) in Pune. The college has been associated with the company since 2018,” Mercedez-Benz India said in a statement.

“The EV course will be integrated in the existing 12-month ADAM course. The company will collaborate with institutes to create a comprehensive module which bridges skill gaps and creates an ‘EV Industry Ready’ employable talent pool,” further adding.

Mercedes-Benz will subsequently introduce the EV module in two more institutes by 2022. Followed by other institutes across the country in due course.

Commenting on the initiative, Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Martin Schwenk said,

“Electric is the future and it is imperative that we drive ahead with upskilling and reskilling initiatives for our talent pool. In order to make them industry-ready and create a robust e-mobility ecosystem.”

Mercedes-Benz had introduced the ADAM course in 2006 to build competencies and skills. It has been successfully operational in nine technical institutions in various cities across the country. Over 1,200 students have benefited from the ADAM course since its inception, the company said.

The Course

The EV course will be split into subtopics, designed to impart a holistic understanding of the latest cutting-edge EV technology at par with global industry standards. It will also provide an opportunity for the students to get hands-on practical expertise in EV technologies as well.

“As the automotive industry is witnessing a demand for EV-trained workforce, this module will provide our students with an edge over competition and create good career opportunities.” Said MKSSS Secretary PVS Shastry.

The continued association with MKSSS, Pune is a testament to the company’s commitment. Meanwhile, promoting a culture of diversity that offers equal opportunities to young aspirants to excel in the field of automotive mechatronics.

A personal reflection on the values and ethics, on professionalism within the Millennials.

I interned at a media house for two months. In that period of time, I met with an employee from another department and became good friends with them. She told me she had been working in that company for the past 17 years. I froze.

Consistency

I froze because it was unimaginable for me. Unimaginable that someone could stick with one company for so long when I probably could not stick with one for even a year. I mean it hadn’t even been 2 months and I was already looking for a job with no plans to turn my internship into a full-time job.

Upon returning home, I realized that the previous generation was not like that. My father was working at his office for more than 25 years, my uncle was working at the company for the last 17 years, and my neighbor was working as a teacher in the same school for the last 12 years.

The Wrong Questions… And the Right Answer

Now, if we ask the questions that why are the millennials not able to embrace a similar situation? Why do we hop from one organization to the other, or leave one field for another? The answer is very easy actually. It’s because we do not find ourselves compatible with one organization but feel that we might hit it off with another organization. And that is not wrong. It is quite possible. What is wrong, however, is the lack of professionalism.

Professionalism requires you to do your work on time. It requires you to limit the errors in your tasks. And not to forget, it requires you to have a tone of respect for your employer. Once you have the tone, the professionalism reflects a great deal on all your acts.

Professionalism in Behaviour

Let’s understand it this way. You join a workplace, you work for some time but you realize it doesn’t suit you, so you leave. But now that you leave, you will ensure that your abrupt decision is not negatively impacting the company in any way. There is no task undone, there is no promise being broken, and regardless of the fact that the rulebook allows you to leave, you respect the company enough that you give them considerable time to find your replacement.

But no, people are now more about instant personal gratification than any other thing. They dissociate from the other side so as to not feel accountable. Where does it come from? We don’t know yet. But will it be helpful? Not so much. Why? Because when you keep dissociating from every other interaction in your life, you will have made a reputation for yourself. And then others might not want to associate with that person.

Since you cannot get that particular brand of noodles in Pakistan, any other would do. Anyway, you will need one cup of boiled instant noodles, 2 cups of juice (mango or orange), and 2 kulfi molds.

Now, you will take the kulfi molds and add juice to them. Put the boiled noodles in it, and cover the cap. Freeze for four hours. Et voila, your Maggi ice cream is ready.

A policy paper from OICCI titled “Increasing Women’s Inclusion in the Pakistan Economy” was also presented to the Ministry of Human Rights last year. “OICCI had initiated the OICCI Women Empowerment initiative in 2017 and has been regularly advocating for women empowerment among its membership”, Khan further added.

The purpose of the awards is to bring women to the center stage in business and operations and highlight the sensibility and acumen women bring to the table.
