Pakistan is one of the emerging countries with a heavily reliant transportation industry on petroleum. The rise in fuel prices has a huge influence on Pakistan’s economy, since it impacts not just the transportation industry, but also other industries and, ultimately, people’s everyday lives. The economic impact of increased petrol prices in Pakistan will be discussed in this article.
Sky-rocketing transportation cost
The first and most obvious effect of increased gasoline costs is on the transportation industry. The transportation industry is the backbone of the economy, and every increase in gasoline costs has a direct influence on it. As gasoline prices rise, transportation costs rise, causing the prices of products and services to rise. This causes inflation, which has a negative impact on people’s purchasing power. Furthermore, the high cost of transportation has an impact on corporate profitability, which eventually leads to a drop in economic growth.
Agriculture crisis
Since Pakistan is more of an agricultural dependent country, the agriculture industry is the second most affected sector by increased gasoline costs. The agricultural sector in Pakistan is primarily reliant on diesel-powered tractors and machinery due to lack of technological innovations and research policies being conducted in the country. When the price of gasoline rises, so does the price of diesel, which raises the cost of production. This is a worrisome issue since substance farming and basic dependence on natural crops such as wheat and corn are also being quite difficult to afford for much of the population.
Manufacturing cost rises
The third effect of growing petroleum costs is on the manufacturing industry, which significantly relies on energy for transportation of raw materials and completed goods. When the price of petrol rises, transportation expenses rise in tandem, raising the cost of manufacturing. This, in turn, reduces corporate profitability, resulting in a slowing of economic growth. Also, increased transportation costs make exporting goods more expensive, reducing exports hence causing a deficit in the balance of trade due to which we see the dollar dominating the rupee by far.
A testing burden on the public
The fourth effect of increased fuel costs is on the general public. When gasoline costs climb, so does the expense of life. The rise in petrol costs leads to an increase in the prices of products and services, resulting in a decrease in people’s buying power. Furthermore, the rise in fuel price has an impact on people’s everyday lives since they must face the burden of high transportation expenditures in an already low income economical fixture.

Lack of subsidies
The government is the fifth effect of increased fuel costs. Petrol price increases result in increased tax income for the government. Yet, rising petrol prices raise the government’s subsidy cost since the government must offer subsidies to the poor to offset the impact of growing gas prices. Moreover, an increase in gasoline costs leads to a decrease in economic growth, which impacts the government’s tax collection.
The rise in petrol costs has a substantial influence on Pakistan’s economy. It has an impact not just on the transportation industry, but also on other industries and, ultimately, on people’s everyday lives. The government must take efforts to offset the economic effect of rising gasoline costs. This may be accomplished by giving impoverished people with subsidies, investing in alternative energy sources, and supporting public transportation.

Former Finance Minister, Mifta Ismail, lost his cool on a reporter who accused him of corruption while serving as a member of the party in power.
Mifta Ismail Shutdown Reporter
Mifta Ismail made an appearance at the 14th Karachi Literary Festival to talk about Pakistan’s economy. The topic of the debate was Pakistan’s Economy: Depth and Resilience. However, during a question, a reporter talked asked the former finance minister about setting aside a budget and his take on running a home further adding if Mifta Ismail was a part of obtaining a BMW.
In response to the question, Mifta Ismail asked the reporter to sit down and stop making such allegations against those serving in the government.
The truth is that no one has put allegations on Miftah, rather the journalist was asking why he allowed import of luxury cars( which happened). So jhoot kam phelaya kare bhai mere pic.twitter.com/H1wTvQJaoJ
“How can you dare to ask me such a question? How can you accuse anybody of this? What are you talking about? Now you sit down and listen to me. How dare you say that have I obtained a BMW?”
“I had to spend five months in jail without being ever guilty of anything. I used to drive my car with the petrol I bought myself. So stop putting these false allegations. It is wrong. My wife and children cried when I was in jail, so you take it back and you certainly can’t talk to me like this.” He added.
Mifta Ismail’s response has caused an uproar on social media since then where people are calling him out for his aggressive behavior toward a mere reporter. The majority is debating whether the actual question was intended for Mifta Ismail or did he took it wrongfully.
Meanwhile, the majority is split on whether Mifta Ismail dodged the question on purpose or didn’t understand it. The focus of the debate is that he shouldn’t have reacted the way he did.

Nowadays, it’s common to hear about potentially dangerous situations or warnings in the news. There seems to be no scarcity of possible catastrophes, including man-made ones like terrorist strikes and threats as well as natural ones like storms and earthquakes. And yet, despite the dangers and cautions, a lot of individuals appear to handle these risks lightly and as if they were going on a picnic. What gives, though? Why do people make a picnic out of any hazardous situation or warning?
People Gathering At Seaview Despite Government Ban Because Of High Tides
People’s tendency to overestimate risk could be one factor. Those who experience this phenomenon, also known as “optimism bias”, in their thinking tend to believe that bad things will happen to others more frequently than they will to themselves. When a hurricane warning is issued, for instance, many Pakistani people may believe that the storm won’t actually hit their location or that the damage won’t be as bad as expected and gather at Seaview. This bias may influence people to take risks they otherwise wouldn’t, such as ignoring hurricane warnings or not staying indoors when they should be.
A very recent incident proves this theory. Just a few days ago, a wild leopard ran loose and made its way into a very habituated neighborhood in Islamabad DHA Phase 2. Instead of people staying indoors ad handling the situation calmly, they came out to make videos and “enjoy”. Here have a look.
Another theory is that individuals may have grown numb to danger. We are continuously inundated with information about hazardous occurrences and warnings because of the 24-hour news cycle and social media. With repeated exposure, we may eventually grow numb to the risks and dangers all around us. Also, it could be challenging to tell the difference between genuine threats and sensationalized news reports. Because of this, warnings could not be taken as seriously as they ought to be, with people treating them more like a picnic than a serious problem.
It’s also likely that as a coping tactic, people make risky situations into picnics. People may use humor or other coping methods to ease their fear and anxiety when faced with extreme danger or uncertainty. For instance, people may laugh about or engage in amusing pursuits to take their minds off the gravity of the circumstance. While doing so can help you cope, it can also make you complacent and prevent you from taking the proper safety measures. Pakistani are the most creative when it comes to making memes about anything or any situation for example this.
When the dollar is sky high and petrol is increasing daily & then you get out of home and see a leopard running toward you ..#dha2#Leopardpic.twitter.com/aRBTjjXlVp
Finally, it’s important to think about how society and culture influence the way we perceive threats. People may take risks and disregard warnings when there is a stronger emphasis on individualism and personal freedom in particular societies. Some cultures might have a higher sense of belonging and obligation, which might encourage more watchful and proactive action. Through the messages we receive from the media, advertising, and other sources, society can also influence our opinions. It makes sense that some people could regard risky situations as a picnic if we are continually inundated with messages that prioritize pleasure and excitement over prudence and safety.
People Recording Fight Breakouts At Eat Festival Instead Of Helping Out
To sum up, there are a variety of reasons why people choose to convert dangerous situations and warnings into picnics. Whatever the cause—optimism bias, desensitization, coping strategies, or cultural and societal attitudes—it is obvious that a complex interplay of psychological, social, and environmental elements influences how we perceive risk. While it’s critical to keep things in perspective and avoid letting fear dictate our behavior, it’s equally necessary that we heed warnings seriously and make every effort to be prepared for the worst. By doing this, we can reduce the risks and effects of harmful situations and maintain the safety of our communities and ourselves.

Peek Freans Gluco and famous musician Bilal Maqsood laucnhed their much-awaited book of “Gluco Kahani Rhymes” during a lively and interactive session at the ongoing Karachi Literary Festival.
Along with Bilal Maqsood, the Gluco Kahani platform was developed with the goal of producing children’s rhymes in the Urdu language. The goal was to produce purposeful material under the Peek Freans Brand banner for the benefit of the next generation. Since the initiative’s debut in March 2022, it has amassed an incredible response, garnering over 22 million views, 95 million impressions on YouTube, and over 15 million impressions on Facebook. By using simple rhymes that help in vocabulary development for young children, Gluco Kahani strives to be the vehicle that draws kids to view content in our native language.
“We wanted to demonstrate that eating can be enjoyable, interesting, and memorable. This belief inspired us to embark on a mission to make studying Urdu enjoyable, according to Shahzain Munir, executive director of EBM. In order to encourage the practise of reading in Urdu in a way that both parents and children will like, we decided to turn the rhymes into a book.
For more than 30 years, mothers have trusted Peek Freans Gluco as the first biscuit for their children that offers good nourishment, making it a generational brand. The same stories and rhymes have been published as books so that kids can enjoy our beautiful language while learning about delightful Gluco characters. This is done to maintain a stronger connection with its customers. The stories are intended to let parents interact and have fun with their kids as they learn Urdu counting with Haathi, gallop through the forest with Khargosh, and discover Chirya’s ability to aid others. Each page has a QR code that connects to the online video and content.
Well-known singer Bilal Maqsood, when questioned about the endeavour, said, “This was a dream project for me. I partnered with Peek Freans Gluco of EBM to compose, write, and sing nine original Urdu nursery rhymes for children to play my part in giving our children something to hold on to while growing up – something that’ll keep them connected to their language and cultural values without losing the element of learning with fun.”
The discussion came to a close with the remark that all elements of society must cooperate in order to guarantee the accessibility and appropriate distribution of Urdu content for the sake of our younger generation.

Do you have vacation plans this holiday season? You’ll undoubtedly have a cell phone or some other portable device with you, and you’ll eventually need to recharge it. If your battery is low, be aware that charging your electronic device at a free USB port can have unfavorable results. These charging stations can be located near airport gates, in hotels, and other travel-friendly sites. A new form of cyber theft called “juice jacking” may target you.
IImage Source: Code Name Max
Cybersecurity professionals have issued a warning that thieves may install malware onto public USB charging stations in order to gain unauthorized access to electronic devices while they are being charged. A device can be locked by malware introduced through a contaminated USB connection, and it can export user information and passwords to the offender. The data can be sold to other bad guys or used by criminals to access online accounts. Such public charging stations can be found in Pakistan at Dolmen Mall Clifton, shopping markets and eve hospitals like Southcity.
How Does Juice Jacking Work?
The way USB ports are made permits juice jacking. They are primarily used for charging phones, but they can also be used for data transfer. Because of this, each time you plug your phone in to charge, you could be allowing data transfers. Due to the fact that the majority of phones now require permission before beginning data transfers, it is viewed as a possible threat rather than a serious and genuine danger. This indicates that any hack would be stopped right away if the user is paying attention. It is uncertain whether or not hackers will ever discover a method to get around this security.
What Happens If You Get Juice Jacked?
One of the first things that might happen is data theft. What is stored on your phone will obviously determine the extent of any damage if data is stolen. The vast majority of individuals don’t just have their contacts and images, they have their social media. Yet, juice jacking might be used to easily specifically target people who are known to have valuable information.
The second possibility might be malware. Anybody could potentially be at risk from malware. A keylogger that logs passwords typed into your phone can be designed to be injected into a charging station. Moreover, malware can be installed to track the movements of your phone or tape any phone calls. You can even be completely locked out of your phone using it.
Is Juice Jacking A Legitimate Threat?
Juice jacking is not something the typical individual will encounter. Intelligence officials have shown that it poses a hazard, but no actual attack has yet to be seen in the wild.
Having said that, it’s crucial to remember that theoretical tactics frequently start being employed later, which is why security researchers show assaults like this.

Having said that, it’s crucial to remember that theoretical tactics frequently start being employed later, which is why security researchers show assaults like this.
How You Can Prevent It?
Avoiding juice jacking is simple. Instead, use electrical outlets. It is therefore safe to carry your own charger and use public power outlets. A battery bank or spare battery can also be purchased. Batteries for backup and battery banks are inexpensive. Some power banks have the capacity to recharge a phone for more than a week. It goes without saying that these gadgets are useful even if you are not attempting to avoid fraudulent charging stations.
You can also invest in a charge-only cable. There are charge-only USB cables available for purchase. They can therefore only be used to transfer power, not data that could be potentially damaging. It would be risk-free for you to utilize a malicious port as long as you are carrying such a cable.

We’ve all done it. When your eyes feel tired and you want to give them a break, you give them a good rub. But despite being a common habit, rubbing your eyes can not only cause temporary discomfort but also long-term damage if done frequently. Believe me—you don’t want to take your chances when it comes to the health of your eyes.
The Impact of Eye Rubbing on Your Vision
Do you rub your eyes frequently? Even if you don’t think you do, rubbing your eyes throughout the day could be doing more harm than good. That’s why it’s important to understand the effects of eye rubbing, so you can take better care of your eyes and vision.
For starters, it’s important to recognize that the skin around your eyes is extremely fragile. Rubbing it can cause creasing, stretching, and even broken capillaries (tiny blood vessels). Also, when you rub your eyes, you increase your risk of infection from bacteria and viruses. Eye rubbing also has a range of impacts on your vision. It can worsen existing conditions such as dry eye and puffy eyelids and can even cause temporary vision blurring and double vision. Over time, frequent eye rubbing increases the likelihood that these conditions will become chronic or permanent.
You might think that rubbing your eyes only lasts a short while, but it can have long-term effects on your eyelids as well—including dryness, itchiness, redness, and inflammation. All this can be exacerbated when you rub your eyes after using concealer or mascara, as these products can further irritate the skin around the eyes. In some cases, eye rubbing may cause the skin to flake or even develop small cysts. Meanwhile, rubbing your eyes also leads to increased production of oil in the glands around your eyelids, which could cause pimples or acne.

Eye Infections Due To Eye Rubbing
The most common bacterial infection resulting from frequent eye rubbing is conjunctivitis (or pink eye) which is caused by an inflammation of the conjunctiva—a thin, transparent membrane that lines the inner surface of eyelids and covers the white portion of the eye. This can lead to swelling, itchiness, and a discharge that can form a crusty layer over the eyelashes. In extreme cases, pink eye can cause vision loss if left untreated.
It’s important to avoid rubbing your eyes as much as possible to prevent any potential bacterial infections or other complications related to frequent eye contact with your hands.
Google’s Pixel Buds Pro and Apple’s Air-Pods are two of the most popular brands of true wireless earphones. Both of these ear-buds provide a lot, but they are also quite distinct. In this post, we’ll compare the two devices and see if Google can catch up to Apple in the ear-bud industry.
Design and convenience
When it comes to design, both Pixel Buds Pro and Air-Pods stand out. The Air-Pods are compact and come with the traditional white casing, whilst the Pixel Buds Pro are somewhat bigger and have a more angular shape. The Pixel Buds Pro come in three distinct hues, but the Air-Pods only come in two.
Source: Digital Tech
In terms of comfort, the Pixel Buds Pro include wingtips that provide a more snug fit, whereas the Air-Pods fit loosely in the ear. The Pixel Buds Pro are also sweat and water resistant, making them excellent for working out or other outdoor activities.
Audio Quality
In terms of audio quality, the Pixel Buds Pro provide a more balanced sound profile with sharp highs and deep lows. They also include changeable EQ settings, allowing consumers to tailor their listening experience. The AirPods, on the other hand, feature a more bass-heavy sound that may not appeal to everyone.
Noise Cancellation as well as Ambient Mode
The Pixel Buds Pro includes an excellent active noise cancellation function that efficiently shuts out extraneous sounds. The ear-buds also offer an ambient mode that allows users to listen to music while hearing their surroundings. In comparison, the Air-Pods only offer a rudimentary noise cancelling capability that is not as powerful as the Pixel Buds Pro.
Charging and Battery Life
The Pixel Buds Pro has a battery life of up to five hours on a single charge, with the charging case delivering an extra 19 hours of listening time. The AirPods, on the other hand, provide up to five hours of listening time and an extra 24 hours of battery life when used with the charging case.
Integration of a Voice Assistant
The Pixel Buds Pro and AirPods are both compatible with their respective voice assistants, Google Assistant and Siri. The Pixel Buds Pro, on the other hand, provide more advanced functions such as real-time language translation and voice commands that allow users to manage their earphones without touching them.

Price
The Pixel Buds Pro are somewhat more expensive than the AirPods in terms of price, but they provide additional functions and greater sound quality. The Pixel Buds Pro cost $199, while the AirPods cost $159 each. The Air-Pods Pro, which are more similar to the Pixel Buds Pro in terms of capabilities, cost $249.
Finally, the Pixel Buds Pro and Air-Pods each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. While the Air-Pods have a more familiar look and are less expensive, the Pixel Buds Pro provide higher sound quality, noise reduction, and voice assistant integration. The Pixel Buds Pro are also more robust and suitable for workouts and outdoor activities.
Google is clearly catching up to Apple in the earphone industry, with the Pixel Buds Pro delivering numerous sophisticated capabilities that outperform the Air-Pods. But, Apple retains a significant market share advantage, and it remains to be seen if Google can continue to develop and catch up to Apple in the future.

On 16 February 2023, in San Francisco, California. The Levi’s® 501® jeans, one of the most enduring symbols of fashion and the model from which all subsequent jeans have been derived, will celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2023. Over the course of its bright 150-year existence, millions of innovators, risk-takers, experimenters, thinkers, icons, and creatives have donned the 501® Original.
To commemorate the countless stories – from the mundane to the momentous – of fans in their 501® jeans, Levi’s® is launching The Greatest Story Ever Worn campaign, a year-long celebration. As part of the launch of the campaign, Levi’s® is releasing three short films, directed by Martin de Thurah and Melina Matsoukas, titled The Greatest Story Ever Worn, that explore original stories from around the world celebrating 150 years of 501® jeans. With these stories, as well as others inspired by true events, The Greatest Story Ever Worn celebrates the 501® jeans’ incredible past and its role in countless historical, cultural, and personal moments in order to inspire a new generation to write the next chapter.
The 501® jeans are portrayed in The Greatest Story Ever Worn as an ever-expanding narrative that is being created and reinvented by everyone who fastens the fifth button. They represent everyone’s journey and are more than just a pair of jeans. The characters, incidents, goals, and memories in this ever-evolving story range from common people to extraordinary icons.
“Few products, let alone pieces of clothing, have been as consistently present for so many human experiences, for as long as the 501®. Coming from the humblest of beginnings as workwear pants, Levi’s® 501® jeans have become a blank canvas for self-expression that transcends the boundaries of culture, and class. This is an incredible moment and milestone for the Levi’s® brand and through The Greatest Story Ever Worn campaign we aim to celebrate the legacy of the 501®, its unrivaled breadth and global relevance, and to inspire the next chapters.” – Chris Jackman, VP of Brand Marketing, Levi’s.
Precious Cargo, the first historically accurate movie, tells the tale of how 501® jeans arrived in Kingston, Jamaica in the 1970s and how Jamaica adapted them to become wholly her own. A joyous examination of an island whose distinctive style, rhythm, and spirit have resonated around the world, the film is directed by Melina Matsoukas and filmed by academy award-nominated cinematographer Bradford Young.
“Early Levi’s spots were some of the pieces that actually inspired me to pursue commercial filmmaking. It is an honor to now be part of their cinematic legacy. I always gravitate toward brands and creatives who lean into authentic storytelling and, with this piece, we were able to pay homage to a small but powerful story from the vast history of Levi’s. Everyone involved was willing to push the idea of commerciality and I believe that courage led to us creating a beautiful film.” – Melina Matsoukas
The second movie, Fair Trade, is about a beloved family bellcow and the son who, much to his family’s disappointment, traded the animal for a pair of 501® Jeans. A film on the 501® jeans is directed by Martin de Thurah and shot by renowned cinematographer Kasper Tuxen against the backdrop of a chilly Georgian winter.
The third movie, Legends Never Die, depicts the factual reflection of a dedicated Levi’s® wearer who asked to be interred in a pair of 501® jeans, a last request that many customers have expressed to the company over the years. This particular admirer requested that everyone who attended the funeral does so as well. The movie, which was also directed by Martin de Thurah, is a lovely illustration of the kind of group devotion that might motivate a crowd to turn out in denim in support of a dear friend or family member. It is a celebration of mankind and the unbreakable bond between one man and the Levi’s® 501® jeans he actually lived in.
“I was intrigued by the challenge to create little stories in a mini format that together tell an even bigger story. Levi’s is an iconic brand and being able to celebrate the 150th anniversary alongside my favorite people was a wonderful opportunity.” – Martin de Thurah
The 150th-anniversary commemoration of the 501® jeans is launched with the release of The Greatest Story Ever Worn. Throughout 2023, there will be more stories shared along with milestone celebrations all throughout the world.

In Islamabad yesterday, it took the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Capital Development Authority more than five hours to apprehend a leopard that may have ran loose from a safari park and became “trapped” in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) amongst alarmed inhabitants. By 4 o’clock, videos of the big wild cat roaming the housing society began to circulate on social media. These videos showed the scared leopard attempting to exit the area but instead racing into buildings and scaling walls. The hashtag “leopard” has also been trending on Twitter in Pakistan. Here have a look.
Leopard/cheetah in DHA 2. Situation as of 9:50 pm, the animal has attacked 4 people so far & is hiding between Giga Mall and Cash & Carry. Stay alert and safe everyone, avoid unnecessary pedestrian movement. pic.twitter.com/ycXGV8o40d
A leopard bit a security guard on the back, the DHA security reported to the Islamabad Wildlife Management Department around 4:20 p.m. Rescue 1122 had already arrived on the scene when the IWMB crew arrived at the housing development, but Rina Saeed Khan of the IWMB reported that it had not succeeded in cordoning off the area. She reported that despite warnings from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) employees to stay inside, many TikTokers had congregated dangerously near to the leopard. According to Ms. Khan, “The leopard attacked because it felt cornered.”
The lone male common #leopard captured from #dha2 was sedated and brought safely to IWMB’s rescue & rehab centre. The leopard is now awake & roaming inside it’s enclosure. There were NO fatalities. Everyone is safe and sound! @WildlifeBoard@ClimateChangePKpic.twitter.com/oZyZD6PR4N
The leopard was also witnessed assaulting a volunteer for the IWMB twice. Throughout the entire incident that led to the wild cat’s capture, three people—two of them IWMB employees—were injured. In a another video, a man who appeared to be a private security guard fired at the leopard without caring for the wellbeing of the crowd that had gathered there. The relevant authorities, however, disputed this.

The IWMB tried unsuccessfully to lure the animal into a cage and confine it in a confined area with the assistance of the volunteers and personnel there. At around 10 p.m., the IWMB had to sedate the animal using a tranquillizer. According to Rina Saeed Khan, the director of the wildlife board, the leopard would be put at a rescue facility in the Rescue Center, which formerly served as the home of the Islamabad zoo. The IWMB chief was in contact with the commissioner at the time when this news was published. The news has been going viral since yesterday, here are some live videos from the incidents and reactions from the public.
If it’s confirmed that this #leopard escaped from a privately owned facility, then serious charges should be pressed again the owner and complete ban should be enforced on keeping big cats in private ownership #leopard#dha2@aghatahir4pic.twitter.com/fsyIpxZHpR

We(humans) are causing habitat destruction through deforestation. they are losing their homes and their food resources. And when they're around in your neighbourhood, instead of rescuing and releasing them into the wild, simply shoot at them.#Leopard#SaveWildlifepic.twitter.com/MjuQpumVtE
Also he disturbed that animal badly as well as huge crowd of people was rushed to see circus on roads in dha islamabad is also shameful act this is not an entertainment.#dha2#Leopard#Islamabad

Shame on the management of DHA! This #Leopard is roaming OPENLY since morning, yet not even a SINGLE wildlife worker with a tranquilliser is there. Tamashaybeen are on the streets rather than staying at home and guards are SHOOTING at this RARE species. NALAYAK QOUM 🤦🏽♂️ #dha2pic.twitter.com/LGhDDyiAMf
As a result of human expansion into their habitat, common leopards have affected life in settlements before. In the Saidpur model village in Margalla Hills, leopards broke into multiple homes in November of last year, causing panic. IWMB stated that although the locals claimed to have seen four leopards, leopards were extremely territorial and did not forage in packs like a pride of lions.

In Karachi, Pakistan, on February 16, 2023. According to Shell’s LNG Outlook 2023, Europe’s rising demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) is expected to boost rivalry with Asia for the limited new supplies available over the next two years and may eventually dominate the LNG trade.
With 121 million tonnes of LNG imported in 2022, up 60% from 2021, European nations, including the UK, were able to survive a drop in Russian pipeline gas supplies as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. South Asian consumers also cut back on their imports, which enabled European nations to secure enough gas to prevent shortages despite a 15 million tonne decline in China shipments. Europe’s rapidly expanding LNG demand drove prices to all-time highs and caused instability in the energy markets.
With less Russian pipeline gas available, LNG is a crucial pillar of European energy security. Its development is aided by the quick growth of new regasification terminals in north-western Europe. China, on the other hand, is transitioning from being a quickly expanding import market to playing a more flexible position with a greater capacity to balance the global LNG market.
“The war in Ukraine has had far-reaching impacts on energy security around the world and caused structural shifts in the market that are likely to impact the global LNG industry over the long term,” Steve Hill, Shell’s Executive Vice President for Energy Marketing, said.
“It has also underscored the need for a more strategic approach – through longer-term contracts – to secure reliable supply to avoid exposure to price spikes.”
Governments in Europe sought to strengthen energy security and protect their economy from excessive costs, which included giving LNG imports priority and hurriedly creating new import facilities. The decline in Russian pipeline gas flows triggered extraordinary governmental and regulatory involvement.
Due to the high demand for LNG in Europe in 2022, other purchasers were compelled to cut their imports and switch to alternative fuels, increasing emissions. With India utilizing more coal and Pakistan and Bangladesh importing more fuel oil to reduce power supply shortages, South Asia’s LNG imports decreased as a result of high worldwide LNG prices.
In 2022, there were 397 million tonnes of LNG traded globally. According to industry predictions, by 2040, annual LNG demand would be between 650 and over 700 million tonnes. To prevent a supply-demand mismatch that is predicted to materialize by the late 2020s, more funding must be allocated to liquefaction projects.
Its role in the transition to a clean energy economy will be strengthened by a variety of new technologies that cut emissions from the gas and LNG supply chains. Also, the industry is increasingly focusing on the creation and application of decarbonized gases, such as synthetic natural gas, hydrogen, and ammonia, in order to provide future energy security that is more sustainable.

The Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2023 — or the ‘mini-budget’ was presented first in the National Assembly and then in the Senate.
The Mini Budget 2023
The mini-budget intends to raise the GST to 18 percent from 17 percent. The added tax will generate extra revenue of about Rs170 billion ($639 million) during the current budget year ending in July. Meanwhile, the newly imposed budget is bound to skyrocket inflation and
While addressing a press conference, Ishaq Dar emphasized completing the IMF program in hopes of getting the economy and reserves back on its track.
“We will go through it on the weekend. A virtual meeting with the IMF will be held after that on Monday,” he said and further explained that once the MEFP has been finalized, the IMF has its internal process and then a Board meeting is held. And then finally, when approval is given, the [tranche] is disbursed. It is a standard process which can neither be shortened and hopefully they won’t extend it unnecessarily.”
According to Ishaq Dar, “Taxation measures of Rs170 billion will be taken as opposed to the rumours of Rs700-800 billion, and Rs170 billion will have to be recovered within four months in this fiscal year.” Adding that the government would not impose General Sales Tax on oil products.
