Long Queues At Tim Hortons Lahore Has Triggered The Nation

A day after opening its first and flagship location in Phase 6 of DHA on Friday, the renowned Canadian coffee company Tim Hortons in Lahore recently saw huge lines of customers. When Tim Hortons launched amid complaints about rising inflation, the long lineups of customers caused some eyebrows to be raised. After this, people wondered if Pakistan was actually going broke or not.

Tim Hortons’ launch happened a few days after a man died in a stampede while in line to buy flour for his family. Some individuals shared videos of long lines at Tim Hortons and at grain stores to emphasize the dire economic situation in the nation, which they attribute to the Pakistani elite’s love of Western coffee brands. However, the condition caused an uproar on the internet. People were comparing the current economic downturn and questioning the government’s claims of increased inflation. Here are some of those reactions.

Famous actor and singer, Farhan Saeed, also tweeted about the crisis and his tweet has been going viral. People agree with him and say that he’s speaking facts.

Other than reacting to the surprising economic conditions of Pakistan, people were also tweeting about how overrated Tim Hortons is. Critics said that Lahoris will go crazy about anything and everything. Here have a look!

On the other end of the spectrum, some people on Twitter are supporting Lahoris saying that everyone should let the city enjoy a coffee shop opening if they want to.

A Guide To Choosing The Right Women’s Trousers For Every Occasion

Ethnic trousers are a must-have in any wardrobe since they can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Whether you’re looking for a pair of pants to wear to your next formal occasion or simply want to keep comfortable while doing errands, there’s bound to be the perfect pair for you out there. Let’s have a look at some of the most popular varieties of women’s trousers to add to your wardrobe.

Gharara Trousers

These flared trousers are among the most popular traditional women’s trousers on the market today. Their legs are broad and extend out below the knee. Ghararas are available in a variety of colours and materials, making them simple to dress up or down depending on the occasion. Wear them with kurtas for a more traditional look, or with a short blouse and strappy sandals for a more contemporary approach.

Churidar Trousers

Churidars, which come in a variety of colours and textures, are another popular form of ethnic trouser. The elasticized waistband and extra fabric around the ankles create ruching (or “churi”) from ankle to knee length on these skinny-fitting trousers. Churidars are perfect for dressing up since they provide a sleek silhouette when coupled with tunics or kurtas, but they can also be dressed down with t-shirts and shoes.

Straight Pants

Straight cut pants may be more your taste if you don’t like tight-fitting trousers. These trousers have a relaxed fit across the legs and a slight taper at the ankles. Straight-cut pants look excellent with kurtas and even western tops; they exude an effortlessly cool, laid-back feel that we can’t get enough of!

It’s crucial to remember that fit is everything when it comes to trouser styles.

In front of franchise owners and top players, the PCB Management Committee Chairman, Najam Sethi, unveiled the trophy at the storied Shalimar Gardens.

PSL 8 2023 Supernova Trophy

The 24-karat Supernova Trophy, as it will be known, was crafted in Pakistan and serves as a testament to the nation’s skilled artisans and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s commitment to helping out regional companies. The national cricket team’s motto is “Unity, Passion, and Strength,” and the three pillars of the trophy are each adorned with 9,907 sparkling zircon stones to symbolize this. The main pillar at the back is further adorned with crystals to symbolize the commitment and effort required to ensure the team’s success.

Here are some fans’ reactions to the new trophy.

The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place in Multan on February 13 before the tournament’s first match between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champion Multan Sultans; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.

The PSL 8 will be split into two legs, with matches taking place at Multan Cricket Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena from February 13 to February 26. From February 26 to March 19, the action will move to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium. On March 15–19, the Qualifier, two Eliminators, and the Final will all take place in Lahore.

Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times. Femvertising: A Herding Behavior Or A Creative Approach

Femvertising: A Herding Behavior Or A Creative Approach

Herding behavior in designing commercials refers to businesses’ tendency to imitate their competitors’ advertising strategies and techniques. This can include using similar themes, slogans, or even visual elements in their advertisements. Businesses believe that if their competitors are using a certain technique, it must be effective. However, this approach may not always lead to the most creative or effective advertising campaigns.

What Is Femvertising?

One rising trend in advertising is femvertising. Femvertising refers to the use of advertising to empower and positively portray women. Femvertising, or the use of feminist themes in advertising, can be a powerful tool for the Pakistani advertising industry. By using strong, empowered women in their advertisements, companies can appeal to a broader audience and promote a positive message of gender equality. There has been a rise in the integration of feminist notions and pro-women language in the advertising and marketing of brands.

From the “Main Perfect Hon” campaign by Gul Ahmed, empowering women to embrace their flaws to Pepsi‘s recent campaign “Why Not Meri Jaan” encouraging female bike riders; Pakistan brands are increasingly attempting to institutionalize the rising influence and the power of feminist narratives and women empowerment for their marketing communications.

How To Femvertise?

Before embarking on the bandwagon of femvertising, it is vital to understand its concept, issues, and challenges to avoid backlash from all stakeholders, be it consumers or society.
Femvertising, also known as feminist advertising, can be a powerful tool for the advertising industry in Pakistan for several reasons.

  • First, femvertising can help to break down stereotypes and promote a more accurate representation of women in advertising. In Pakistan, women are often portrayed in traditional gender roles, such as homemakers and caretakers. Femvertising can challenge these stereotypes by depicting women as strong, independent, and capable individuals. This can help to shift societal attitudes towards women and promote gender equality.
  • Second, femvertising can also help to appeal to a larger audience, including women and men. A study found that ads that promote gender equality are more likely to be viewed positively by both women and men. In Pakistan, where the population is predominantly Muslim, femvertising can also appeal to a religious audience by promoting the idea of equality and respect for women, which is consistent with the principles of Islam.
  •  Third, femvertising can help to build brand loyalty among women. Studies have shown that women are more likely to trust and buy from companies that support gender equality. In Pakistan, where women are becoming increasingly educated and financially independent, this can be a powerful way to attract and retain consumers.
  • Finally, femvertising can also help to promote social change. In Pakistan, women face many challenges, including poverty, lack of education, and discrimination. Femvertising can raise awareness about these issues and encourage people to take action to support women’s rights.

Femvertising is not as prevalent in Pakistani commercials as it is in other countries. However, in recent years, there have been a few examples of Pakistani commercials that have incorporated feminist themes or messages. Femvertising has been used to promote a variety of products and services, such as beauty products, clothing, and household goods.

Some examples include commercials that feature women in leadership roles or breaking stereotypes and achieving success in traditionally male-dominated fields. While femvertising aims to break down stereotypes, it can also inadvertently reinforce them. For example, commercials that depict women only in traditional roles may perpetuate negative stereotypes about women.

Criticism

It is worth noting that some critics argue that the term “femvertising” itself can be problematic as it implies that advertising that does not target women is not pro-women. In addition, some critics argue that these advertisements are not truly feminist but instead designed to sell products rather than promote social change.

Femvertising may be perceived as inauthentic or insincere, especially if the company or brand does not have a history of promoting gender equality in other areas of their business. It may also be viewed as disrespectful of cultural norms and values, especially if the company or brand is not sensitive to the cultural context they are advertising.

Women comprise a significant portion of the Pakistani population and are a major consumer demographic. By using femvertising, companies can tap into the purchasing power of this demographic and attract more female consumers However, it is essential to note that while femvertising can have positive effects, it is not a solution by itself. Some companies have been criticized for using femvertising as a marketing tactic while failing to address sexism and discrimination within their own workplaces. Companies must be aware of these issues and strive to create an authentic and meaningful representation of women in their advertising and overall business practices.

Expert Tips For Taking The Best Selfies

You’ve seen them. You’ve probably even taken a few of them yourself. But how do you make sure your selfies are Insta-worthy?

We’re not just talking about lighting or angles (though those are important, too). There are a few other secrets to taking the perfect selfie. Below, we’ve rounded up our top tips for snapping the best selfies possible.

Understand Your Lighting

Before you snap your selfie, take a second to understand your lighting. Natural light is always best, so try to find a spot where the sun is shining on your face. If that’s not possible, try using a bright light or a flash on your phone.

If you’re indoors, avoid taking selfies near windows or other bright lights, as they’ll create a glare on your face. And if you’re using the flash, make sure to hold your phone at least six inches away from your face to avoid overexposing it.

Work On Your Angles

How you angle your face is key when taking selfies. You want to make sure that you’re looking your best and that your features are on display. Angle your face slightly up, so that your chin is slightly lifted and your eyes are looking up. This will help elongate your neck and make you look more awake and alert. If you’re trying to slim down your face, tilt your head to the side a bit. This will help hide any areas you may be self-conscious about.

Make Use Of Props

If you want to take your selfie game to the next level, props are a great way to do it. They can add a unique touch of personality and flair to your selfies, keeping your followers engaged. For starters, think about what you want to convey in your photo, and choose props that will help you show it off. Are you a foodie? Try including a few of your favorite ingredients or dishes. Are you a budding photographer? Include an interesting camera or lens in the shot.

Edit & Edit

You don’t need to be a designer to get that ‘perfect’ look for your selfie. The key is editing your photo after it’s taken. There are mobile editing apps that can help you with this and the best part? They often come with pre-set filters so you don’t have to spend hours tinkering around with settings.

Strike A Natural Pose

When you’re taking selfies, it’s important to find the right balance between natural and posed photos. When you’re having fun and being spontaneous, that’s when you get those perfect shots. Being too posed can take away from the shot and make it look overly stiff.

Accountancy Talent Shortage In Pakistan, According To ACCA Talent Trends Survey

Professionals in Pakistan are most concerned about inflation and the possibility of a worldwide economic slump. The workplace has undergone the most significant change in a generation, and a new age has begun. In Pakistan, 55% of financial professionals anticipate changing jobs in the coming year, and another 26% in the following two years.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) new annual Global Talent Trends Survey 2023 offers a distinctive and crucial perspective on how people currently feel about working in the profession. It is one of the largest surveys ever conducted throughout the accountancy profession.

We surveyed over 8,000 professional accountants from 148 nations, including Pakistan, to learn about their career goals and worries about the future of work. Key workplace concerns like employee engagement, well-being, and attitudes toward technology adoption were also evaluated by the poll.

The study reveals a talent shortage for businesses as they battle to keep employees with lofty career mobility goals and an eye on their next position. The main concerns for workers in Pakistan right now are inflation, health, job prospects, and the possibility of a worldwide economic slump.

According to the poll, a career in accounting is still a wise choice for anyone looking for long-term career prospects and opportunities to continuously learn new skills in an era of major workforce change and a difficult global economic environment. It furthers the idea that selecting accountancy leads to a career with options and freedom to be able to obtain a professional certificate that allows for cross-sectoral and worldwide mobility.

In Pakistan, hybrid working is very much still a “work in progress,” with 75% of respondents saying they still work full-time in an office. Pakistan performs highly in terms of inclusion indicators, with 70% of respondents believing that their workplace culture is inclusive, compared to a global average of 68%.

Employers are changing and experimenting with new ways of working across the workforce as a result of a potential talent shortage, according to Jamie Lyon, Head of Skills, Sectors, and Technology at ACCA. The two things that draw people to an organization most—career advancement and compensation—are also the two things that have the biggest impact on their decisions to quit.

A strong economy in Pakistan depends on attracting the next generation of talent to the accountancy profession, according to Assad Hameed Khan, head of ACCA Pakistan. This poll makes sure that the opinions of those who are studying and working in the field are heard and that the industry contributes to the development of a workplace where today’s professionals flourish and where tomorrow’s talent wants to work.

Basic Etiquettes Pakistanis Need To Learn

Basic Etiquettes Pakistanis Need To Learn

There are certain sets of social rules and etiquette that the majority of people living in Pakistan should learn. These etiquettes are based on basic human decency and help shape one’s personality. These etiquettes solve social issues and better the nation as a whole. The difference can be seen on a larger scale even if everyone brings about a little change. In no way, am I claiming that these problems only lie within the Pakistani community but yes, these etiquettes need to be learned by everyone who needs them.

1. Assuming People’s Ages And Relationships At Social Gatherings

Pakistani culture involves big gatherings at happy occasions like someone’s wedding. However, there is always this particular group of “aunties” whose sole purpose is to assume people’s age based on the way they look, especially girls. They are also very vocal about it and do not hesitate to tell a girl that “red lipstick makes her look younger and she should go for a more nude tone”. These “aunties” also try and guess people’s relationships at such events. If a guy and a girl are seen together it is assumed that there is “something” between them. They then also create full scenarios in their head and continue to spread the “news”. Apparently, minding their own business is a very difficult job.

2. Giving Way To Ambulances While Driving

Civic sense is not very commonly seen on the streets of Pakistan. This is because of the “I own the city” mentality found in the majority of drivers. However, some also lack basic human decency. Many drivers do not give way to ambulances knowing that life might be at stake. Some people do give way but many think selfishly that they’re the only ones who need to get somewhere on time. Giving way to ambulances may get you late in reaching your destination but it sure will get you some good points as far as humanity is concerned.

3. Helping People Out When They See Someone Needs It

Like such ambulance incidents, it is seen almost every day on the streets of Pakistan that someone needs help but no one stops even for a second. They do not pay enough attention and even if they do not care enough to help. Does helping someone take a lot of time and effort? Apparently, for the people in Pakistan, it does. People are so engrossed in their own lives and are maybe even so selfish that they do not think once before ignoring such a person who looks like he needs help.

4. Restricting Themselves From Engaging In Gossip And Drama That Does Not Involve Them

Pakistanis are suckers for drama and gossip. It is mainly the reason why celebrities strive in the Pakistani TV and film industry. In corporate offices, normal households, and almost every social place people are extremely interested in listening to the new gossip. They love to hear rumors and furthermore, they also love to spread those rumors with some twist of their own. It’s almost as if people feed off of news about others be it, anybody. This culture only promotes negativity and may even affect the person’s mental health who the news is about.

5. Refraining From Giving Unwanted Advice

Another thing Pakistanis are very generous about is giving free advice. The excuse “Tumhare bhalai ke liye bol rahe hai” (We’re suggesting this for your own good) is frequently used by unsolicited consultants. In a society where “the elders know best,” it is simple to pass off prejudice and misogyny as altruistic care, especially when the advisors are somehow related to us.

Someone’s uncle might be angry because, despite his advice, they didn’t smile enough. Even while each of these events seems minor on its own, taken as a whole, they show a pattern. No gender is immune to this intrusive society, but the comments directed at certain people are particularly upsetting. The remarks show preconceived notions about what people should value most, such as their bodies, their clothes, or their families. They also expose an entitlement culture.

6. Avoid Becoming Freeloaders When They See An Opportunity

Understanding how cooperation can be sustained in the presence of freeloaders, or people who take advantage of the more cooperative members of groups they are anxious to join, has been one of the perennial difficulties in the study of social evolution. When groups are made up of strangers and those who participate more actively in group activities don’t receive any physical benefits, the freeloader dilemma might be especially problematic.

In “desi shaadis” or family gatherings, food is a must. But sometimes some people may think that the world is about to end and start hoarding food. This is where things take a rather bitter turn. The hosts might be the “I know but I am going to let it pass” type but this does not mean that is right. Pakistanis need to learn that when visiting some place or being a part of a social gathering it is not necessary to show your true self.

7. Stop Being Overly Influenced By Western Culture

Each nation has its own unique culture. Pakistan’s culture is immensely diverse, with each ethnic group getting its identity from unique cultural values and customs that ultimately set it apart from other groups. Our nation has become increasingly Westernized as a result of the media. The TV networks have a variety of program hosts and drama characters dressed in western attire. Moreover, English or Urdu? Majority of people, nowadays, are not proud to speak our own language, and the middle class and upper class are particularly guilty of this. Moreover, relationship culture has also been normalized which was never really a part of Pakistani culture.

8. Being Nice Towards House Help And To The Lower Class

Three categories make up the wealthy community – Generous, selfish, and egotistical. Many Pakistanis behave badly, beat their servants, and treat them like animals. However, other people are incredibly kind, and considerate, and treat them like family. Some people are egotistical; they only want their services and never assist them when they need it. Egoistic people treat them cruelly and like animals after that. However, such negative cases rarely ever come to light. There are good, kind-hearted people in Pakistan, but sadly, the media doesn’t highlight them since it only cares about negative news that divides and incites hatred among its audience.

9. Stop Thinking That Wealth And Status Define One’s Place In Society

The term “middle class” has a wide variety of definitions, ranging from a vague set of ideals to a very precise measurement of household income, and everything in between. Cash is like economic resources, especially income, wealth, and freedom from poverty. Credentials like educational achievements and qualifications, occupational status, and Culture attitudes, mindset, behavior, and self-definition. Pakistanis apparently think that these things define one’s social status and that in some people’s opinion is illiteracy. A wealthy man might not be a spendthrift and that is why he might look poor in society and the case might be vice versa. But this is a very unhealthy practice that has also encouraged people to act a certain way to “fit” into society.

10. Avoid Going To People’s House Uninvited

Pakistanis have this weird habit of being uninvited guests. They often go to people’s houses at odd hours and stay there even when they can feel that they might be uninvited or the hosts might want to rest. This comes under the category of “hospitality”. People have the misconception that everyone is very hospitable and that they can be “guests” for however long they want to. But when the tables turn, they might not be in the “giving back” spirit.

Anyways, Pakistanis are going to stay Pakistanis nonetheless.

Here Are The Routes For Karachi’s New Buses

The poor condition of Karachi’s public transportation is one of the city’s biggest problems; it not only makes traveling stressful but also poses a serious safety risk. Bus travel in cities has long been a source of constant nightmares. However, the Sindh government took control and introduced not one but three new services: Pink Bus, People’s Bus, and People’s Electric Bus. This was done in response to decades of complaints and a nearly complete shift of people to rickshaws and private cab services, which have grown in popularity despite constant fuel price increases.

People’s Electric Bus Service

On January 13, the transport minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, minister of local government for Sindh, and Saeed Ghani, minister of labor for Sindh, officially launched the People’s Electric Bus Service at Clock Tower, Seaview. According to the minister, “These buses, which run totally on stored batteries, are of European quality and will not spread any form of pollution.” He also said that in addition to decreasing pollution, the buses will provide low-cost travel options to citizens. This bus runs on Route 12 of the People’s Bus Service and is a component of that company.

Although there is no one approved method of preparation for the meal and no standard components, other than Doritos and ground beef. Food scientist, chef, and founder of Robust Kitchen Michael Murdy refer to Dorito pie as an “American classic.” One of the primary reasons Dorito pies have become so well-liked is their extreme adaptability to audience size, taste preferences, and financial constraints. The attractiveness of walking tacos, with the exception that you “don’t stuff everything into a compact bag” and you “can eat it with a fork or your hands,” is what we believe is one of the reasons Dorito pies have grown to be so well-liked. The fact that it’s delicious and easy to make adds to the Dorito pie’s popularity. Before adding the Doritos and toppings, all that is really required is to cook and season the ground beef.

Netflix Releases Teaser Of ‘Berlin’ Money Heist

Source: OutLouD

A new trailer for Berlin, Netflix’s upcoming Money Heist spinoff drama, teases a fresh plot featuring a high-stakes diamond heist and discloses the show’s premiere date. Money Heist, created by Lex Pina, debuted on Netflix in 2017 and instantly became a significant hit for the streaming service. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, a spinoff of the famous Spanish-language show, was launched last year. Now, Berlin, a spinoff based on the original show’s character of the same name, is planned to expand the series’ universe even further.

Following a quick glimpse of Berlin’s new ensemble last autumn, Netflix has today released another peek at the second impending spinoff.

What does the teaser reveal?

The brief teaser shows Pedro Alonso, who last appeared as Berlin, alias Andres de Fonolloso, in Money Robbery season 5, back in motion preparing a fresh heist. The trailer implies that Berlin will be pulling out a meticulously planned jewel robbery in “the city of love,” and that a mysterious woman may play an important role in the plot. The trailer also says that the show would be released in December of this year.

Berlin gave his life during Season 2 of Money Heist, but the character was so popular that he reappeared in Seasons 3–5 in different flashback scenes. Because the character is officially deceased during the present timeframe of the main program, Berlin will function as a prequel, charting a huge robbery that he performs before meeting the Professor (lvaro Morte), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Tokyo (rsula Corberó), and the rest of the gang. The usage of the phrase “city of love” by Netflix appears to imply that Paris will be a major background for Berlin’s grand diamond robbery.

Love, it appears, will play a significant part in Berlin. Pina, who also created Berlin, recently stated that the program will be “a journey through the character’s golden period, when he stole across Europe insane in love.” He also hinted that the impending spinoff will be shockingly hilarious, a contrast from the mother-ship series’ normally more somber tone.

In addition to Alonso, the Money Heist spinoff will have an outstanding ensemble of new characters, including Marcel Gonzalez, Miko Jarry, Tristán Ulloa, Michelle Jenner, Julio Pea, and Begoa Vargas. It’s unknown whether any fan-favorite characters from the original show will return, but several recognised faces are most likely going to appear. As the premiere date approaches, Netflix is likely to disclose additional details about Berlin, including a full-length trailer.

Who will Star in the prequel?

Along with Alonso, who will reprise his character from the original show, Michelle Jenner will play Keila, Begoa Vargas will play Cameron, Julio Pea will play Roi, Tristán Ulloa will play Damián, and Joel Sánchez will play Bruce. There is a potential that we will see additional original series stars, but that remains to be seen. Pina, David Oliva, David Barrocal, and Esther Martinez Lobato co-wrote the series.

Google Bard AI Loses $100 Billion After Giving Wrong Answer

According to the blog post, the AI-powered solution engine Bard uses online data to create new, high-quality replies. In short, it will provide in-depth, conversational, and essay-style responses, much like ChatGPT provides presently. According to the blog post, a user may ask Bard to explain new findings from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the finest strikers in football right now, and then get workouts to improve their talents.

Google AI chatbot Bard sends shares plummeting after it gives wrong answer | Google | The Guardian
Source: The Guardian

What is the frenzy all about?

The internet behemoth appears to be providing an incorrect response. An advertisement for their latest AI bot showed it answering a question poorly. Alphabet shares fell more than 7% on Wednesday, erasing $100 billion (£82 billion) from the company’s market worth. In the marketing for the bot, known as Bard, which was shared on Twitter on Monday, the bot was asked what to tell a nine-year-old about James Webb Space Telescope discoveries.

It responded that the telescope was the first to take images of a planet outside the Earth’s solar system, when in reality the European Very Large Telescope did so in 2004 – a mistake promptly corrected by scientists on Twitter. Why didn’t you double-check this example before publishing it? Newcastle University colleague Chris Harrison responded to the tweet. Investors were also unimpressed by the company’s presentation on its aspirations to incorporate artificial intelligence into its goods.

Since late last year, when Microsoft-backed OpenAI revealed new ChatGPT software, Google has been under fire. It immediately became a viral sensation because to its ability to pass business school exams, compose song lyrics, and answer other questions. Microsoft said this week that a new version of its Bing search engine, which has trailed behind Google for years, will make use of ChatGPT technology in a more advanced form.

However, Chatbot AI systems pose hazards to organizations due to inherent biases in their algorithms, which can distort findings, sexualize photographs, or even plagiarize, as users test the service discovered. Microsoft, for example, launched a Twitter chatbot in 2016 that swiftly began creating racist comments before being shut down. Furthermore, an AI utilized by the news site CNET was discovered to create factually wrong or plagiarized pieces.

The crumbling support of investors?

Though investors have supported the artificial intelligence drive, some have warned that pushing out the technology increases the danger of mistakes or improperly distorted outcomes, as well as plagiarism difficulties.

According to a Google spokeswoman, the incident underlined the need of a thorough testing methodology, which we’re launching this week with our Trusted Tester program. “We’ll combine external input with our own internal testing to ensure Bard’s replies match a high standard for quality, safety, and roundedness in real-world information,” they explained.
