PepsiCo Pakistan: World Water Day

Water is a fundamental human right and there is a need to focus on clean water provision to every national of Pakistan. PepsiCo, in collaboration with WaterAid, is working towards improving the access to clean water to underserved urban communities in Pakistan. This ongoing partnership is expected to provide communities, healthcare facilities, and schools with sustainable access to clean drinking water.

Increasing access to safe water for vulnerable individuals is one of the most urgent challenges the world faces. Many societies have compromised water supplies that have contaminated water sources. Pak Colony in Karachi is an example of an area with scarce access to clean water. PepsiCo Pakistan, in collaboration with Water Aid and funding from PepsiCo Foundation has installed a water filtration plant at Pak Colony. The plant provides access to safe water to 100,000 citizens which include three educational institutions in the vicinity.

PepsiCo Pakistan’s safe water program has enabled clean water for over 200,000 people in the urban underserved areas of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. PepsiCo plans to continue to expand this program into rural areas.

Is United Motors Saying Goodbye To Bravo & Alpha?

United Motors is planning to discontinue the 800cc Bravo and 1000cc Alpha hatchbacks. It is rumored that the company will shift back its focus on 2- and 3-wheeler production, thus wrapping up its operations of the 4-wheeler business.

Bravo Takes Over Mehran

The Bravo was launched in September 2018 as an alternative to Suzuki Mehran. However, the car couldn’t become a success as much as it was anticipated due to its build quality issues and limited nationwide network.

According to the sources, United was not satisfied with the quality standards of Dahe, the principal responsible for producing the DH350s, due to which there has been no supply of the CKD kits for a long time. Despite, United has been increasing the price of Bravo in regular intervals despite no new kits being imported.

Company Setbacks

Meanwhile, the company cannot get rid of the stocks it already has. The company was also supposed to launch Punjnad commercial pickup. However, the move never materialized, and the launch of an automatic variant of Bravo that was coming out in 2020 was also ceased.

In January 2021, United launched the 1000cc Alpha hatchback, which was initially a first-gen Chery QQ facelift. While that was discontinued in China several years ago, sources say, United’s move to approach Chery was also because it was dissatisfied with Dahe regarding the quality issues of the Bravo hatchback.

The Truth About The Closure

“This is nothing but a false and baseless rumor. United Motors is not at all shutting down its operations. The company is going stronger than ever. We are selling both our car models, Bravo and Alpha, and delivering the cars within a week.” says company officials.

Meanwhile, the dealer’s statement regarding the rumors seems to be true. As they mentioned, no restocks of the car shortly.

“We have under 50 units of United Bravo and Alpha. Once we sell these, there won’t be any restocks. The cars will be discontinued in the market.”

United’s biggest dealership in Lahore, called United Bedian Motors, has also been converted into Prince Bedian Motors. Confirming the darker clouds on the future of United cars in Pakistan.

PUBG Mobile Introduces Pakistan’s First Pro-Level Tournament for Professional players

March 21, 2022 – Carrying on with its practice of introducing innovative contests for Pakistan’s bustling eSports ecosystem, PUBG MOBILE, the country’s leading online battle royale platform has launched the first exclusive pro-level gaming tournament. Titled 2022 PUBG MOBILE Pro League Pakistan Spring (PMPL Pakistan), the platform is a competitive professional stage where teams battle for a diverse range of prizes. With Professional PUBG MOBILE teams competing for 18 days including 3 days of final stages, the competition will be live streamed on YouTube, Facebook and a variety of other social media platforms for audiences across the country.

The event is set to begin on 22nd March with the finals between 15th to 17th April. The total prize pool is a whooping PKR 17,600,000, the highest ever for a PUBG MOBILE Tournament in Pakistan.

The teams competing in this 2022 PMPL Pakistan Spring was chosen in 2 approaches: direct invitation and qualifier. In February, a one-time-only PMPL qualifier category was introduced to kickstart the new PMPL qualification system. The negotiating skills of Pakistanis sure work wonders, but what happens when a tourist visit the beach who has no clue?

The Tourist Scam

Recently, Pakistan has been hosting tourists, including Luke Damant from Australia and Dale Philip from Scotland. At the same time, they have been enjoying the hospitality of Pakistanis. However, a rather traumatic incident has left them both in shock. They warn the other tourists who might be planning to visit the Karachi beach and take in all the scenic views on a horse ride.

Both Luke Damant and Dale Philip were the victims of horsemen read ‘Beach Mafia’ who tend to fool the tourists and visitors into getting a ride. However, the whole drama starts once the rider gets off the horse, and they start asking for more money claiming that they have given them the longest ride, as opposed to the one, decided beforehand so much so that both the tourists ended up feeling harassed because the horseback riders couldn’t stop chasing them for money. Both vloggers shared their respective incidents in their vlogs while asking the citizens for help.

How Karachiites React To Their Demand?

A casual beach stroll doesn’t end up without these horse owners chasing you and sometimes forcing you to take a ride in the hope of them leaving you alone. But how many times do you actually enjoy the ride? Sometimes, you feel threatened by the weird gazes of owners, and other times, you are wondering how long before they stop?

A simple beach trip turns into a fiasco of stopping, negotiating, giving up, and complaining about the turmoil. While we sure have seen it and know how to go through it, we wonder what would’ve gone through the mind of those poor tourists who actually claimed that they felt harassed through this incident.

Who Would Take Responsibility?

While the police caught the victims of both incidents and put them behind bars, the question is, who is responsible? Who do we ask? And who can come up with a reasonable approach to make the citizens feel safe and take appropriate measures so that they don’t end up fooling the citizens and tourists, for that matter?

The demands of these horse owners from the citizens are getting out of hand and it is time that the authorities take measures to make the experience fulfilling for both the citizens and the tourists.

Pakistan cricket board (PCB) has launched a new ad in honor of Pakistan vs Australia cricket match series, and it’s nothing short of brilliant and creative, to begin with.

The video was released with a caption,

Taking mehman-nawazi to the next level, mate! And we don’t know what is better, the Australian references or Pakistan’s ‘mehman nawazi’ towards the Australian cricket team?

The new ad displays the sweet gestures of a Pakistani who, upon giving a ride to an Australian, shares his deepest regards towards his city. The ad starts with an Australian who asks the rickshaw driver for a ride in English. An older adult then explains the query to the driver while apologizing that it is his first time in Pakistan. What’s strange is the rickshaw driver clearly understood his needs and responded with an equally cute Australian accent with ‘No Worries Mate’—a classic Australian greeting.

He then asks them for a ride, and they start unique interactions in a classic rickshaw ride. The Australian boy asks the old man, who turns out to be his father, as he says, ‘Papa ye kia hora ha’?

A voice-over then starts with welcoming the guests to Pakistan and mentions how preparations are much needed for guests coming in after twenty-four years.

Porsche To Build Out Its Own Network Of EV Charging Stations

On Friday, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume confirmed the automaker’s going to build a charging network for its customers. The company is also set to launch the automaker’s third electric car and a hybrid 911.

Blume said Porsche would create its charging network for Porsche owners and customers. The automaker plans to invest still and support existing infrastructure developments but acknowledges the demand for charging stations.

Blume confirms the first station will open in the beginning of 2023, with a buildout after that.

The plan was revealed during the company’s annual meeting. Porsche is preparing to expand its EV portfolio beyond the Taycan to at least two more models. These include the Macan and 718 by 2025.

The first Porsche-branded charging locations will be built in high-demand areas. Beginning next year in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, company executives said.

The Amenities At The Stations

The charging stations will also have amenities akin to a lounge. The customers can sip coffee or work while their batteries recharge.

“It’s not just about charging. It’s also to get more convenience in the direction of our customers,” Lutz Meschke, deputy chairman and member of the executive board, said.

“And that’s very important for us that we not only focus on the electrification of our cars but also about the customer journey beyond the car.”

According to CEO Oliver Blume, “the company is investing in premium charging stations alongside partners and our own charging infrastructure,”

“It’s very important over the next years to have a quick ramp up for this, and therefore Porsche is investing heavily,” he added.

Porsche’s increased its sales targets for EVs, too. The automaker now aims to have a 50% mix of electrified sales by 2025, with 80% of sales, specifically battery-electric models by 2030 (previously 80% by 2030 was to be electrified).

A 911 hybrid is in the works, according to Blume, but it will not be focused on efficiency. The model will not be a plug-in hybrid. Instead, the HEV will feature a similar performance-oriented system that Porsche used in the 919 hybrid race car.

A new campaign from the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, aims to speak directly to men and boys about how they can intervene and act as male allies to tackle violence against women. The Mayor of London is seeking to stamp out sexism in the capital by calling on male residents.

The #HaveAWord campaign calls on men to “have a word” with themselves and their friends to challenge misogynistic behavior and comments.

Developed by Ogilvy UK on a pro bono basis with the mayor’s office, the hero film and accompanying messaging ask men not to be passive bystanders but to intervene when observing inappropriate attitudes and behaviors on the streets, at home or in the pub.

This is conveyed through the example of a group of young men heading home after a night on the town when one begins to hassle a woman waiting for a cab. Focused on the man’s friend, the campaign highlights the moral responsibility we all have. That is to challenge harmful behavior by presenting an internal dialogue as a mirror conversation on the necessity to intervene and prevent the situation from escalating.

A voiceover concludes by saying: “Male violence against women and girls can start with words – but it doesn’t stop there. If you see it happening, have a word with yourself. Then your mates.”

The Mayor’s Statement

In a statement, the mayor shed light on the rising cases of violence against women and girls. He said: “I need to speak directly to men and boys about an issue of immense importance – a matter of life and death. That’s because in this country – and in our city – we currently face an epidemic of violence against women and girls, committed by men.”

“That is why I am launching a new campaign. To tackle the toxic attitudes and inappropriate behaviors of some men. To help prevent violence against women and girls.” Further adding.

“Male violence against women and girls can start with words. If you see it happening, have a word with yourself, then your mates. It’s time we kick these rotten attitudes out of our city and society for good.”
