After all, a friend in need is a friend indeed. So, what drives people to become those friends in need? A chilled bottle of Mountain Dew.

The Bro Banter

Nowadays, bro banter has become common in almost all friendships. When we say bro, we don’t literally mean brothers, as in guys. We mean the kind of banter that never ends and is there even in the most inappropriate situations.

This ad shows Ahad Raza Mir literally jumping over trucks and climbing over buildings to get to his friend, Fahad. However, when he does finally reach him, the friend is ready with a taunt. He goes like, “kaha nai tha tayyar rahin?” We’ve all been there.

Many might not be aware, but the nation boasts a group of budding football players, having the potential to be the next Ronaldo in the world of football.

Meet Some of Karachi United’s Budding Talent

These rising players are as a young as eight years old and are quite passionate about football. For those who want to witness their magic on the field, visit Karachi United Football Club and we bet, you will be left in awe of their sheer greatness.

Brandsynario met with the emerging stars of K.U,  heard their untold stories and accomplishments from their recent trip to Barcelona FC.

Read what they had to say here!

The Rise of Karachi United FC &  Tour to Spain

The football club was formed in 1996 by Talha Alizai and was set up with the mandate of achieving football excellence. Starting off as a group of passionate weekend footballers, a structure slowly grew out of it. In 2003, a Youth Academy was set up and it became a real club. In 2010 the Youth Academy was formed which started to nurture talent. Over the years it now has the objective to provide the best football development opportunities in the country.

The Karachi United Football Club has also set up 10 centers in many inner city areas of Karachi including Mangopir, Lyari, Malir etc. One of the mandates of the club is to develop community through sport. Almost a 1000 children attend free of cost. From these, the most talented are brought into the academy and trained further.

This year 44 children were taken to Barcelona, Spain out of which two are residents of Malir and Lyari. The trip proved to be highly beneficial as it provided exposure to Barcelona coaches and their teaching methods as well as provided an opportunity to play competitive matches with local clubs in Barcelona and their academies. The local team fared pretty well and even won a few games.

Karachi United’s Players in Action!

The squad was invited to tour the hub of international football and visited Spain’s Barcelona football club for a week long period between 13th to 20th February 2017. The team returned after a successful run in the city where they got a chance to play with international Spanish teams and were trained at Camp Nou under Barcelona FC’s professional coaches.

Speaking with KU’s Director Development, Ali Ata, we learned about the club’s journey over the years and how KU is integrating children from various backgrounds.

Watch Ali Ata talk about the club’s journey towards achieving excellence. He talked about the interest in football increasing in Pakistan due to the growing awareness of people in the sport.

” KU started as a bunch of weekend footballers who wanted to play together 20 years ago. Slowly we put a structure around it and I would like to mention Taha Ali Zai in particular who has been instrumental in the continuity of Karachi United ”

The football club in Karachi is working towards women empowerment and changing communities by operating within inner city centers.  They interact and train around 1500 kids from all over Karachi free of charge.

There have also been cases when children from rough neighborhoods have left drugs and gangs, joining the KU centers where they are not only taught football skills free of cost but given life skills and basic education, nurturing them for a better future. This results in an integration of different communities and encourages collaboration amongst the players. Giving talented children an opportunity, this local football is changing and enriching lives too!

What is more, you will be amazed to know how confident the young players of KU are. Football has become an integral part of their lives and they have learned how to balance their passion along with the pressure of studies.

Watch as they share their experience with us in this video.

Abdul Ali Mehta, another top player and performer for Karachi United shared his football journey from playing within Karachi to Barcelona.

However, Karachi United FC is not just a team of young boys. It is also a platform for women to embrace their love for this sport. 2010 also saw the setting up of the Ladies Division by Mashal Hussain and Khadija Kazmi (the current KU Ladies Division Head and Captain of the Ladies team). The coach and mentor, Khadija Kazmi is an IBA graduate and she has devoted her life to empowering women in football. She believes in creating an equal opportunity for both boys and girls.

The Ladies team has had greater on-field success as compared to their male counterparts, having won many local/national tournaments including recently winning the State Bank Cup.

See what she shared with Brandsyanrio here.

You won’t believe that a cute, 9-year old Eschal W. Shaikh too is a part of KU Junior Under 13 team. She also received training at Camp Nou in Spain. Bubbling with energy, she plans to be a professional football player as she grows up.

Watch what she had to say here!

Witnessing the brilliance of  Pakistani youth, our hearts swelled with pride. However, there will be many such emerging players whose talent remains hidden. We never know, that there could be a Messi hidden in Pakistan, waiting to be discovered!

Thought-Provoking Session ‘Kaaf Se Kahani’ On Importance Of Urdu At KLF

6th March 2022, KARACHI: Peek Freans Gluco hosted an interactive session ‘Kaaf se Kahani’ at the ongoing Karachi Literature Festival.

Renowned educators and artists including Rumana Hussain, Bilal Maqsood, Beenish Umer, and Peek Freans Gluco’s Senior Brand Manager Hataf Shahab participated in the session, moderated by Sarwat Gillani. The event’s highlights were the warmly engaging and language-appropriate nursery rhymes launched by Peek Frean’s Gluco in collaboration with Bilal Maqsood.

The discussion revolved around the importance of Urdu, its infrequent usage among the younger generation, and how today’s young minds are losing their touch with Urdu.

The guest speakers highlighted the concerns that due to the dearth of good quality Urdu content, young children view content that is not attuned to our social and moral values. Urdu is something that our children should be familiar with in their early childhood days. The panel unanimously agreed that this could only happen when there is content in Urdu that seeks to teach them not just about morals but also in a way that is creative and entertaining to attract them.

The panel discussed how there is a need for a paradigm shift in Urdu curriculum in schools and educational institutions in order to teach children as to how they could express themselves eloquently in Urdu. Sarwat Gillani pointed out the lack of engaging Urdu content for children in the media stating that our children are learning foreign content and words moving away from the basics of Urdu.

Aaminah Saeed, GM Marketing, responded that the Company had taken an initiative to strengthen its relationship with its core consumers i.e., children and parents. She said: “Peek Freans Gluco as a heritage brand realized that there was a dire need of high-quality Urdu content for children in the media. Through our consumer insights, we realized that mothers are eagerly looking for local content that is not just entertaining and engaging for children but also helps them get attuned to Urdu, their own language. Content is a way for children to learn – especially when it comes to developing language skills.  With the mission of nourishing hearts, lives and communities, Peek Freans Gluco has heard these mothers and brought in content that is entertaining for children using Urdu as a medium”.

Bilal Maqsood said: “This was a dream project for me. I partnered with Peek Freans Gluco of EBM to compose, write and sing 8 original Urdu nursery rhymes for children so as to play my part in giving our kids something to hold on to while growing up something that’ll keep them connected to their language and cultural values without losing the element of learning with fun.”

The session ended on the note that various elements of the society will have to work in tandem to keep the balance of Urdu content available for our younger generation to consume, learn and enjoy.

Published in Daily Express. This article is written by Afia Aslam.

Samsung To Develop Advance OLED Panels For Apple

Samsung has left every other company in the dust when it comes to producing high-end displays. Several companies including Apple rely on Samsung to supply displays for its high-end iPhones and iPads.

Now, according to the report, Samsung Display is developing an ‘entirely new’ type of OLED display for future Apple iPads.

Samsung OLED Panels

The South Korean display maker is developing the panels to win the orders from Apple for its OLED iPads that are expected to launch in 2024, sources said.

Having a two-stack structure, as opposed to the single-stack structure currently manufactured by Samsung Display, doubles the brightness of the OLED panel while its life span is expected to be quadrupled.

Samsung Display has named the material set for the new OLED panels at the T-series. The T-standing for tandem.

OLED iPhones to date use displays with single-stack structures. However, Apple has expressed that it prefers to use screens with a two-stack structure on future iMacs and MacBooks — as people tend to use these products for a longer period of time when compared to smartphones. Considering two-stack OLED displays last 4x longer than single-stacked ones, it makes sense to use them for long-term products.

According to the report, Apple will ship this new type of OLED display in iPads from 2024. Apple tends to bring the new technology to iPad Pro models first so you can expect the display to be available on the 2024 iPad Pro first.

The LG OLED Panel

Samsung Display’s rival LG Display already manufactures OLED panels with a two-stack structure aimed at automobiles.

LG Display’s latest OLED panel sample aimed at iPads had received top markings in a recent evaluation done by Apple. LG Display’s oxide thin-film transistor technology used for the panel was also well received by the iPhone makers.

‘Orbit’: Outfitters’ Latest Campaign Gets Ridiculed

Outfitters has definitely come a long way since the day it began. The company is constantly developing products that are not only on par with international standards stylistically but also in terms of quality. However, creativity, when used in the wrong directions, can be counterproductive. Something similar has happened with Outfitters’ latest campaign and here’s what people are saying about it:

Orbit – Outfitters

The outfitters’ latest collection is called “Orbit”. How are you feeling so far— hooked, not hooked? Whether you’re intrigued already or not, the picture for the campaign will definitely evoke a reaction out of you. The extraterrestrial effect of the campaign is employed by adding spaceships to the background. The backdrop has been edited to show as if the model is on another planet altogether.

Have a look at the picture:

Was This A Good Strategy?

When you do something so crazy with clothes campaigns it’s always important to think about whether it can backfire. Had they just said “orbit” and made a picture in which some extraterrestrial elements were included it would be fine. However, this above and beyond editing is actually taking the attention away from the clothes.

When campaigns are this ‘out-of-the-world’ literally, people don’t talk about the clothes. That is precisely what seems to be happening here with Outfitters.

What Do People Have To Say?

This one person, in particular, broke down the picture into smaller parts and critiqued it. While we’re not aware of whether he’s a professional or not, his critique really hits. There is a problem with the execution when it comes to the latest Outfitters picture. The shadows are misplaced, the elements stand out like a sore thumb.

There are others who simply laughed at the concept of the campaign. It may be that they have had their share of bad experiences at this local brand. Hence, they are hesitant about whether something can really be ‘out of this world’ as the word orbit would suggest.

Advertisements And The Maltreatment Of Urdu

I am sure I am not alone in feeling that we are, inadvertently or otherwise, moving away from Urdu which happens to be the national language. One needs to look no further than advertisements on television screens and other forms of media to know where we are headed in this context. Pathetic copy is the unfortunate characteristic of most advertising campaigns produced by the supposedly creative agencies and approved by the self-acclaimed socially responsible clients. It’s neither English nor Urdu. It is a case of even the Minglish having gone wrong.

Today, the young generation is neither able to speak Urdu fluently nor English. I believe this communication barrier has a lot to do with what is seen on television and practiced on social media. There is zero to minimal access to quality content for children. Even the jingles are not age-appropriate.

The advertising agencies and the clients need to reconsider their priorities. They should ensure that we do not end up completely altering the beauty and the texture of Urdu, our national language.
