  • 1 pack noodles
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola
  • Chopped tomato
  • Chopped green chili

Instructions

  1. Fill the pan with coke and add noodles to it.
  2. Once the noodles are boiled and soft, add the noodle seasoning to it.
  3. Then add chopped tomatoes and green chili.
  4. Once the mixture starts to boil and reaches your desired consistency, it is ready to be served.

VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioğlu Visits Pakistan, Meets With PM Imran Khan

Islamabad – 24 November 2021: Kaan Terzioğlu, Chief Executive Officer, VEON Group called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. Kaan reiterated the Group’s full support towards the Government’s #DigitalPakistan agenda.

VEON, a leading global provider of connectivity and internet services, is embarking on a journey to be a world-leading digital operator with over 213.8 million subscribers in nine countries, including 71.9 million in Pakistan through its operating company, Jazz.

Kaan apprised the Prime Minister about Jazz’s investment in Pakistan, which has crossed US$ 10 billion including US$ 560 million in the last two years alone on 4G network expansion – taking the total number of 4G users to 34.2 million, cementing Jazz’s position as the number one 4G operator. 

During the meeting, Kaan also talked about the role Jazz is playing in improving digital infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, investing in digital skills and literacy, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, and driving financial inclusion through JazzCash.

Prime Minister Imran Khan valued the Group’s commitment to Pakistan including the sustainability initiatives that empower the young with digital tools and resources. “The government launched the ‘Digital Pakistan’ initiative to provide a platform to the youth and it is heartening to see private sector companies like Jazz carry the mantle,” the prime minister said. He also highlighted the key role mobile operators play in a country’s economic growth by bringing in foreign investment, fostering connectivity, and enabling other sectors to thrive.

According to the report, the device is going to carry the trademark of Apple. Not just that, the phone is going to be sporting 5G support. However, there are conflicting reports on the design of the device. One of them states that the older design is going to be used. An incident that happened yesterday in a shopping mall did not just shake the city but the entire country as videos started circulating. The triggering video shows a man jumping from the second floor of Luckyone Mall and falling on the level 1 basement. He died on his way to the hospital in the ambulance. The circulating video took the social worker, Zafar Abbas of JDC to the cold storage where the body of the suicide victim was being kept. Standing next to the victim’s brother, Zafar introduced the victim humanizing the person who took an extreme step. Turns out, the hyped suicide victim was Zohair Hasan son of Hashim Abidi. Zohair was twenty-eight years old. He was a young man who graduated with BSc Honours in Mathematics. However, he did not have a job and was making only PKR 5,000 a month.

Zafar Abbas requested people to stop circulating the suicide video from the mall.

Raises questions of unemployment

This incident has raised many questions. One cannot, in any circumstance, justify suicide but what led to it? Can one give this scenario any attention? The petrol prices keep rising. Because of this one product, everything in the market becomes expensive. Today, one can only cover their monthly bus fares in the small amount that is Rs 5,000. Who will pay for food, clothes, rent, electricity, water? Paying for all these necessities becomes unimaginable if you do not have a job. But why did Zohair not have a job? It was not like he was not educated. He had passed his BSc with a first-class division, hadn’t he?

Let’s say he was not getting a job in the corporate world, he could have gone with a government job. But the reason, Zafar Abbas alleges, was that he did not qualify on the quota system.

Wear Manto is a Pakistani clothing brand whose past ad has come under the spotlight for being downright problematic. Netizens have pondered over the ad and the verdict is that it is just not marking.  Nowadays, the marketing strategy must be precise and creative or it can dissuade customers too. Let’s find out what you think about this ad!

The Ad Itself

The ad basically uses reverse psychology to appeal to its customers. Pictured here is a plain white hoodie being advertised because it is the winters season. The plain white hoodie is made with premium materials and thus, is expensive. Wear Manto wanted its customers to know why is it expensive so a narrative had to be built.

The narrative they spun around it was that there is a smart buyer and a not-so-smart one. The former is the buyer who buys less in more because essentially they are buying better quality stuff. In Wear Manto’s mind, greater price means better quality. The latter category is comprised of those who buy more in less. Have a look at the ad:

Did It Work?

It appears this advertisement and the narrative did not work with everybody. People felt insulted for being possibly categorised into a ‘not smart’ category. They also felt that people would not want to go for this brand if they look at people as ‘not smart’ based on their choices. Moreover, this reverse psychology of the product not being for everyone is also bizarre: does the brand not want to generate sales?

The channel registered a share of 0.15%. Even UTSAV Plus, the European Hindi General Entertainment channel secured 0.13%.

Instead of there being older technology in defense systems, countries are employing the latest ones. In light of this, Pakistan has just unveiled a whole new drone category to the world. It has been named the Shahpar-II drone and it has quite a lot of capabilities.

If we look at the type of drone that it is, it comes under ‘MALE’. This refers to as a Medium Altitude Long Endurance drone. We all know that the primary objective of a drone is recon. That refers to surveillance. These drones can survive at higher altitudes and can capture images in the highest of definition. That said, when it comes to it, the drone can become a tool for havoc and attack too. So, let us dive into the details of the unveiling.

Shahpar-II Unveiling

The Shahpar-II drone was revealed at the Defense Expo taking place in Egypt. It is being held from 29th November till 2nd December 2021. As mentioned in the details, the drone has a range of nearly 1100 Km, with a real-time data link range of 300 Km. One of the most interesting parts of the specifications is that the drone has capabilities that stretch beyond the line of sight. It can work even when it cannot see directly in front of it.

Now, drones usually have two functions; Recon and Engagement. When in recon, the Shahpar-II can fly as high as 20,000 feet for as long as 14 hours. When it comes to engagement, the height reduces to 18,000 feet and the endurance time is halved. Of course, where there is engagement, there are going to be missiles. The Shahpar-II is armed with ASMs (Air-to-Surface Missile) called BURQ. The drone can install missiles to a weight of up to 60 Kg.

Defense Development

That said, the BURQ missile has a weight of 45 Kg, which can engage quite a lot of objects, in a radius of 8 Km, such as,

  • Light and Armoured Vehicles
  • Enemy Personnel
  • Bunkers
  • Buildings

The drone is composed of a lightweight material that allows it to fly smoothly through the clouds, without delay. Both surveillance and engagement payloads can be integrated within the Shahpar-II. Pakistan has now entered the ‘MALE’ UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle) domain with this launch and they intend to ship units to countries in the future.

Everything aside, the unveiling of the drone reminds us of the time when Lockheed Martin decided to test out a hover kill vehicle in 2008, but then scraped the project.

UBL Partners With U Microfinance Bank Limited To Promote Financial Inclusion In Pakistan

PTA Grants License To Select Technologies Pvt. Ltd For The Manufacturing Of Xiaomi Mobile Phones In Pakistan

November 29, 2021: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted a manufacturing license to Select Technologies Pvt. Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Link Communication Ltd.) for the manufacturing of Xiaomi mobile phones in Pakistan. Air Link Communication Limited is consolidating its position as one of the leading mobile phone distributors and manufacturing companies in the country. Air Link Group already has a license to manufacture mobile phones of Transsion Holding’s major brands i.e. Tecno & iTel. This license makes Air Link Communication Ltd, the only company in Pakistan having manufacturing contracts and license for two leading mobile phone companies in the world.
Earlier this month, Xiaomi, the global consumer electronics and smartphone giant, joined hands with Select Technologies (Pvt) Limited (SELECT), as its manufacturing partner for Xiaomi mobile phones in Pakistan targeting production of initially around 2.5 million to 3 million handsets annually.

This is a significant milestone for the economy as it will reduce the import bill and create jobs for the local population. This is a result of the Government’s policies to enhance localization and stimulate the industrial growth of the country.

Apple Exploring True And Reverse Wireless Charging Technology

Apple is certainly setting norms and making history with its innovations. It started off as a simple company and has now transformed into something greater. Long gone are the days when button phones were all the rage. Now, smartphones dominate the industry and have become quite common. Amidst all this, everyone wants to make sure the wheel of innovation does not stop turning. Thus, it has come to light that Apple may be working on true wireless charging technology.

True wireless charging can ring similar to true wireless earphones. The step up from the standard wireless charging would be quite high. Instead of placing the device on a surface, true wireless charging would provide an area inside which the smartphone could charge. However, this is quite a new field of operation and Apple has become one of the frontrunners to enter it. Additionally, they may be working on something else as well.

Apple And Wireless Charging

Sources have stated that Apple was working on technology that would introduce true wireless charging to the audience. They were, initially, working on plans for the AirPower, which would charge three devices at once. However, it had a lot of issues and did not fare well under warmer regions. Thus, the company decided to move forward from that area to a whole new solution altogether. For starters, they are working on something that has not exactly been attempted before.

We know a lot of brands are working on wireless charging but how many are working on true charging. There is a major difference between the two and it is quite difficult to achieve the latter. However, Apple has said that they intend to introduce true wireless technology to us. That said, they have not given a timeline for their progress and releases yet.

Reverse Charging And Innovations

So, how does Apple intend to move ahead with such technology? It seems that they are going to start with reverse wireless charging. The idea states that an iPad could charge an iPhone and an iPhone could charge the AirPods. This improves upon the concept of reverse wireless charging. Yes, the company also stated that its vision is to achieve this without the devices being in contact with each other.

We have yet to see how Apple is going to achieve reverse charging but we know that their team is hard at work. The company is known for robust releases and extraordinary development so this would be no different. Walls Unilever Makes Play Area With Recyclable Material

Walls By Unilever Pakistan has taken the initiative to establish a playing area in Karachi. The highlight is not just that it made an effort to create a space for park visitors but that they attempted to create a dialogue for plastic waste.

In the signature red, the play area screams of being attached to Walls. The ice cream brand is loved by everyone but naturally, it is the kids who love Walls ice creams the most, isn’t it? Using this relation, Walls decided to collaborate with Parks & Horticulture Department, KMC.

The benches and the play area combine are made from almost 1662 kg of plastic waste. The waste collection for the construction is part of Unilever’s initiative of collecting and recycling 2 million kilos of water in just the year 2021, all across Pakistan.

People, of course, appreciated the initiative the moment it touched social media. When the situation seems impossible especially when it comes to the waste statistics of Karachi, initiatives like these make the citizens feel like they are not alone.

Unilever Pakistan at Frere Halls

This effort is not in isolation. Unilever Pakistan has done this before as well. One of Pakistan’s biggest FMCG’s set itself the target to collect, recycle and reuse the plastic that it uses. For that purpose, they had collaborated with the Parks & Horticulture Department, KMC, at that time, with Frere Gardens as the prime location to create awareness.

At Frere Hall Garden, the FMCG donated 18 benches and a play area made of 2,500 kilos of recycled plastic. The space was inaugurated in July 2021.

Kubra Khan Talks About The Intense Training For Sinf-e-Aahan

Sajal Aly is dedicated to promoting her latest drama Sinf-e-Ahan to the fullest. Just recently she wittily replied to a fan asking a very personal question and it was related to this drama. Now with the first episode out and it making people very happy and hopeful, Kubra Khan spoke up about it and it’s something you definitely need to hear.

What Did She Say?

Kubra Khan was asked about how the training for this new drama was and her reply is beyond shocking! She said that the training was so difficult that she lost 10 KGS over 2-3 months of their training. How insane is that?

She adds that they were made to run around and train and do stunts while wearing all the armour. They were carrying G3 guns and they weight 4-5KGS on their own with their bolt intact. Usually, you’re supposed to take the bolt out but it wasn’t for them. Moreover, they also wore 2-3 other bags on their uniforms also and ran with it. Running with such a huge weight is no small feat and hence, we totally understand why she lost that much weight!

About Sinf-e-Ahan

This new drama is the latest collaboration of ISPR with the entertainment industry. The previous was Ehd-e-Wafa. In this show, the purpose is to show women’s rise to power in Pakistan’s military and the sacrifices they make to get to the same place. This comes as no surprise especially when Aik Thi Nigar was such a success. The short film, acted upon by Mahira Khan, was made on General Nigar who was the first woman to occupy many positions in Pakistan’s defence sector.

Local Clothing Brand’s Photoshoot At Kartarpur Hurts Sikh Sentiments

What’s exotic and what’s sacred in our culture, are two discussions that we need to have. We need to teach ourselves how to be respectful even if our actions are for work. In a recent event, a clothing brand decided to have their new line’s photoshoot at a place the Sikh religion considers utmostly sacred; the Kartarpur Gurudwara.

Sikhs hurt at the photoshoot

Taking to Twitter, the Sikhs from both sides of the border brought the matter to social media’s attention. They said that the Gurudwara, especially the one at Kartarpur, is sacred and one cannot go bareheaded inside the grounds. The Sikhs asked for strict action from the authorities.

Once the issue got viral, people from all religions issued agreement with the stance. They said that one should in fact boycott the brand. Others even asked the Punjab government to take notice.

And the matter was noticed indeed.

The Information Minister, Chaudry Fawad Hussain, instructed the designer and the mode to apologize to the Sikh community further stating that the place was a religious symbol and not a film set.

The model did apologize. She took it to her Instagram handle to issue the post and also claimed that her actions were her own ad not linked to any brand.

Well, someone tried to sneak their way out, didn’t they?

In trying to look for an apology from the brand, mannat_clothing, we could not even find it on Instagram now.

We have, for sure, forgotten the difference between exotic and sacred. Not very long ago, Saba Qamar was seen having a dance scene at a Mosque. GCU’s Harry Potter Theme Festival Is Making Potter Fans Jealous

Government College University has won the hearts of the nation with their ongoing festival and why wouldn’t they? The efforts they have invested into the five-day-long festival are simply astounding. Harry Potter fans are not any less in Pakistan and this is a dream come true for them and for us too! Here’s all you need to know:

The Festival

GCU, for the first time in its history, is holding a Harry Potter theme festival. The festival began on November 29th and will continue till December 5th. The festival is also gaining traction amongst the Pakistani audience because they will be screening “The Last Follower” too on their amazing campus.

GCU’s campus was founded in 1864 and it turned into a university in 2002. It has retained much of its old glory since that year and hence, the campus is vintage architecture beauty. Imagine that being turned into a Harry Potter campus! With fairy lights all around, coffee smoked papers and a whole lot of candles and costumes, it’s like stepping into Hogwarts for sure.

The Brilliant Marketing

But truth be told, we are also astounded with the marketing. The event or rather the festival has literally blown up on social media. The pictures from the university made it to all the big meme pages and since then is been covered by all media houses also. Thus, the festival has reached the eyes and ears of almost all students who want to visit the campus.

Universities are seldom on board with having such events that appeal to students in this way but it appears the management of GCU is just as cool as the students. This idea was simply innovative and a much-needed break for students who have been home for almost two years now.
