Elon Musk’s outspokenness may have just cost him his Tesla and reputation! The richest man on Earth openly challenged the UN thinking they had their facts wrong. However, the tables have now turned and the UN has responded to the challenge, leaving Elon Musk at a disadvantage. What will unfold now?

Recap Of The Context

A few weeks earlier, someone tweeted that a very small percentage of Elon Musk’s wealth could solve world hunger. That amount approximated to $6.8 billion only. This figure seemed rather preposterous to Elon Musk and he openly challenged the UN! He said if the UN can make a plan suggesting how only this amount can solve world hunger, he will sell Tesla and donate the money.

However, his condition was that a transparent plan is made. People need to see where the money comes and goes. This is significant because, over the past few years, the UN has received more than $7 billion in donations. So why is world hunger still a thing?

UN Strikes Back

But guess what? Now the UN has responded to his tweet and accepted his challenge with the full plan. The head of the WFP, David Beasley, called out Musk and held him accountable for the challenge. His tweet is an open call-out to Musk whose overconfidence might be hurting him now.

A few hours ago, David Beasley tweeted, “This hunger crisis is urgent, unprecedented, AND avoidable. @elonmusk, you asked for a clear plan & open books. Here it is!” Beasley said. “We’re ready to talk with you – and anyone else – who is serious about saving lives.”

What Is The UN Suggesting?

In the statement that has been released to the public, the UN said US$3.5 billion would be used to purchase and deliver food. In addition to that, US$2 billion would go towards cash and food vouchers for others. Moreover, US$700 million would be earmarked for countries to design and implement food programs to sustain themselves. Lastly, US$400 million would ensure proper management of global and regional operations and other logistical challenges.

According to the leader, the world is on fire. The rising inflation rates, epidemics and pandemics and climate change is aggravating the levels of world hunger. Beasley added: “IT IS HERE. 45M lives are at stake—and increasing daily. If you don’t feed people, you feed conflict, destabilization & mass migration.” Will Musk rise to the challenge?

The moment the call connected and his voice was heard, Tabish was surprised (either he is a great actor or it was unscripted). This just in— the Harry Potter saga is about to get a new addition! The legendary cast is all set to return in January of the upcoming new year and it’s going to be a treat for all. This is the best news people have received in a while and this is all you need to know about it:

What’s Going On?

The original cast of Harry Potter is going to be reunited on the 20th anniversary of the films. An HBO Max special has been made titled “Return to Hogwarts” and it’s going to release on new year’s! Could this get any better?

The legendary cast including but definitely not limited to Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will join American filmmaker Chris Columbus for the exploration of the film. Moreover, the special film will invite fans “on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time”. First-person? We’re definitely intrigued.

Why It’s So Special

This programme has been announced exactly 20 years later from when the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released. Since then, the fans of this movie chain have reached hundreds of millions and we can understand why. So far, a 52-second trailer has been released. It features clips from several of the world-famous films and promises to bring them back to where “the magic began”.

Even Pakistani celebrities, who as talented as they might be, have made their share of mistakes in life and have done some jail time.

Some had relied on their stardom to keep themselves out of prison, but others were not so lucky.

Take a look at some of the Pakistani celebrities who have served time in jail:

1. Ayyan Ali

The most recent Pakistani celebrity to have made the headlines for her fraudulent activities and eventually, the diva-like attitude in jail, is supermodel Ayyan Ali. She was arrested from Benazir International Airport, for carrying USD 500,000 and is currently under detention for money laundering at the Adiala Jail.

2. Ali Saleem

Better known to the world as Begum Nawazish Ali, the guy has done more than donning up as a female to hurt his PR. He was once arrested for beating up his mother, Farzana Saleem, breaking her nose in the process over some financial issues. It was later found out that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the scuffle.

3. Meera

Meera has always made the headlines for the wrong reasons. She has not only been in the news for her hilarious antics but also, twice because she was issued an arrest warrant.

In the year 2010, the actress was caught carrying two passports in her name at the Karachi airport. She got the second passport issued by claiming the first one as lost.

Later, Meera was accused of trying to marry again while she was already in Nikah with a businessman.

4. Asad Malik

Most of the new generation might not remember him, but he was quite the hero till the last decade. Known for his performance in dramas like Dasht and Aansoo, Asad Malik has also served time in jail.

Apparently, he had killed an innocent man by mistake with his automatic gun. What’s interesting about this piece of news is that while Malik served his time in jail, he made a new friend, who was later to serve as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

5. Atiqa Odho

Known for her timeless beauty, her resilient acting skills, and her own cosmetics line, Atiqa Odho was once arrested for carrying alcohol with her while traveling on a flight. While she was detained at that time, she was later let go. Rumor has it, her freedom had something to do with her political affiliation with the then president, Pervez Musharraf.

6. Moin Khan

Everyone’s favorite wicket-keeper and former Pakistani cricket team captain, Moin Khan, landed in trouble when his wife called the cops on him.

According to the reports, his wife had claimed that the former cricket star was under the influence of alcohol and had beaten her up. On reporting, Khan was arrested by Darakshan police and sent to prison.

7. Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif

The 2010 spot-fixing scandal shocked all Pakistani cricket fans across the globe to the core. The three main names involved in the case were former captain, Salman Butt, along with players, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif.

All three players were banned by ICC for receiving bribery and deliberately bowling no-balls at set precise times. Later on, Butt was sentenced to jail for a period of 30 months, Asif for one year and Amir for six months.

8. Ijaz Ahmed

The Legendary batsman was sent behind bars when one of his cheques to a property dealer, amounting to PKR 1 crore, bounced. Ahmed was charged for forgery and spent a good 6 weeks in jail before being released on bail.

9. Aqib Javed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Waqar Younis, and Wasim Akram

Pakistan tour of West Indies did not end up well for this quadruplet. They were found with drugs, alcohol, and escorts on a beach are were held on the charges of possession of marijuana.

10. Umar Akmal

Umar Akmal got into a brawl with a traffic warden and physically assaulted him after he broke traffic rules.

Illegal Properties In Karachi – Who Is Suffering?

The economic hub of Karachi is a melting pot where people from all over Pakistan come to settle in hopes of a better career and consequently, a better life. But as this population grows, so does the need for more infrastructure to support them. This is why you see the high rise, low-rise, bungalows, goth, literally every type of infrastructure on the horizon. These sudden constructions; are all of them authorized though? If not, who in Karachi, is really suffering thanks to the illegal properties?

Case of illegal properties in Karachi

The famous cases include the Pavilion’s End Club and now, Nasla Tower. It was revealed to the public that these dwellings have been made on illegal lands. As for the Pavilions End Club, it demolition meant people being kicked out of jobs, but with Nasla tower, it meant that people will be out on the streets.

As the conversation sparked about these illegal constructions, new revelations were made. According to these revelations, there were numerous other old buildings that have existed for such a long time that one would not even imagine them to be illegal.

Since now people are finally taking action against the illegal buildings, the old ones will be on the radar as well. This is indeed good because, with those establishments, the upkeep of the city was getting hindered. Or at least, it is one of the reasons. Regardless, the point to consider now is, “What about the people living in these buildings?

Who is suffering?

They bought the houses they live in to become proud owners of properties in the expensive Karachi. Some of them poured in all of their savings, while others took loans from banks. The developers took that money once the project was completed and left the arena. They profited a hundred percent from the project that started because of them. And when the court passes the order of demolition, the residents are promised a certain amount which is not remotely near the price they paid to buy the property in the first place. Almost 50 or more than 50 percent of their money is irrecoverable and the compensation they get is not enough to get them decent accommodation at least in this city.

It is clear, who is suffering but the question that emerges is, why is it that when the establishment is fully-constructed with all of its portions sold out that the authorities take notice? Why is it not that when the builders start construction to woo potential customers that the authorities do not see the bricks being laid? Why is it the residents putting up protests to not be kicked out and not the developers hoping to make profits? And why is it that even after the authorities getting active, every other day we hear about even more illegal properties in Karachi appearing?

Son of the legendary mountaineer, Ali Sadpara, had taken his father’s place for the excursion with the french climbers. Sajid Sadpara was sharing updates with the fans through social media accounts. He had mentioned that the plan was to make a new route on Mount Everest.

The video which showed Sadpara’s hands tied led to some Pakistanis assuming that he may not have been treated well by the people with him. These Pakistanis considered this treatment of our legend’s son inhumane.

Clarification – What really happened

However, it was soon clarified that the reason Sadpara was tied up was to stop him from taking any disastrous action. It seems that Sajid was having hallucinations due to a lack of oxygen. And when someone is having hallucinations, they can react in an unpredictable way. Given that, they were all on Mount Everest, this unpredictability could have been fatal for not just the climbers but also for his companions.

A user on Twitter who had been constantly sharing updates on Sadpara’s condition revealed that Sajid had reached Namche Bazaar. In a follow-up update, he said Sajid reached Khatmandu through helicopter rescue.

There are some tech companies that started off as underdogs. However, they have now risen to become some of the most widely popular ones. Despite there being so many competitors, these companies are regarded as quite impressive in the domain of technology. If we look at the area of smartphones, in particular, we will see that some of these companies are above the rest. We can safely say that OnePlus is a brand that is not going anywhere for years to come. They started off in a modest manner and have risen quite far.

Now that we have that established, let us talk a bit more about OnePlus. Their software capabilities and features make them robust phones. You may not find a UI as beautiful as with their phones. That said, it seems that the OnePlus 10 design has just been finalized and there are a few things to note on it. Not only does the phone look aesthetic, it even gives off a highly premium vibe.

OnePlus 10 Design

According to sources, the main camera of the phone has a whole array of its own. Along with three sensors and an LED unit, it is sure to capture some brilliant photos. As far as the display goes, it has a curved one with as minimal bezels as possible. Additionally, it has cornered punch-hole selfie camera. This gives off a clean and premium vibe to the phone.

Apart from that, it is said that the phone will come with fast charging at 125 watts. At the rate that has been calculated, the battery of the smartphone will go from 0 to 100 in less than 25 minutes. If it is as advertised, a lot of people are going to be rushing to stores. For now, we haven’t been given a launch date but we assume it is in early 2022.

Now that we know that the design is finalized, a lot of people are waiting for the phone itself. There was a lot of hype when its predecessor was released and the OnePlus 10 is going to be no different. You might want to rush to the store and buy it once you know what it contains. With what we have seen so far, it is surely a phone that has next-generation functionality.

We hope that the smartphone is well-received once it has been released and there is more to look forward to. Who knows what other impressive features this phone is housing. We have yet to see about further specifications but, for now, we bask in the design.

Things You Need

Milk
Teabags
Mug
Sugar (optional)
Water

Milk Tea – The British Way

Add a teabag to your favorite cup.
Boil water and pour it over the teabag (you can add two tea bags if you want it to be strong).
Wait for 3 to 5 minutes for the tea to brew without stirring or squeezing the teabag.
Remove the teabag and pour in a dash of milk. Note: milk should act as a flavor-enhancer, so you only need enough to add creaminess. Too much milk will mask the taste of the tea. Judge it by the change color as you add the milk and aim for an exact shade – a very pale brown means you’ve probably poured in too much.
Stir with a spoon to blend evenly.

Milk Tea – The Hong Kong Way

Boil the water. Heat the water in a tea kettle over medium to medium-high heat, reaching a boil.
Place the tea bags in a large mug. After situating the bags in the cup, pour the boiling water over them.
Let the tea steep. The tea should steep for about 2 minutes unless the directions on your tea brand expressly state otherwise.
Stir in the sweetened condensed milk to taste. Return to the heat.
Bring back to a boil. Simmer for three more minutes
Serve in a cup hot from the stove.

Centaurus Mall, although pretty generic, when it comes to malls, is a must-go for all the tourists visiting Islamabad for the first time. The mall in Islamabad is not all that but it manages to piss others off from time to time with its problematic statements.

In recent events, the Mall became offensive through its signboard. A signboard that was supposed to get people to wear masks amid COVID-19 did so much more than that. Or maybe it sheds light on an even bigger. But let’s first talk about the signboard. It was placed at the resident entrance.

The signboard read: Poor but not irresponsible.

It is clear from the reactions if the commenter is a classist himself or not. They tried to justify Centarus Mall’s stance on how “look at the point they are trying to make”. Trying to make a safe comeback they tried to be politically correct by saying that the picture of children should not have been used. He clearly did not get the point though because he, too, took being poor as an insult and said, “kids can’t be poor.”

It appears this wedding was held in India. The couple had decided on one of the grandest entries the world had seen to date. They wanted to appear in front of their guests suspended in the air on a swing adorned with red flowers and fabric. Situated on it was the couple, the bride in a white gown and the groom in a tux.
