Pakistan Assures IMF of PIA Sale by July

The government has assured the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be sold by July. However, the fate of Roosevelt Hotel in New York remains undecided. The US government has prematurely terminated the $228 million lease agreement, which was supposed to last three years. This decision will result in a business loss of approximately $80 million. The IMF was informed that the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCOP) will decide whether to sell the hotel or lease it under a joint agreement. Pakistan had leased the 1,025-room hotel to New York City’s Immigrant Housing Business in July 2023. The city government had been paying $210 per room for the third year, but now plans to end the agreement a year early. The CCOP previously expressed concerns that US immigration policies might affect the deal. Despite hiring financial advisors, including Jones Lang LaSalle Americas at a cost of Rs2.1 billion, the government has not finalized a privatisation plan. A previous privatisation attempt failed after a sole bidder offered only Rs10 billion against the Rs85 billion asking price. The government is currently assessing market interest before issuing an Expression of Interest (EOI) by the end of this month. Three bidders may participate, including two who previously withdrew due to tax and liability concerns. The IMF has agreed to relax those conditions, which may increase investor interest. The government also aims to privatise three power distribution companies—Faisalabad, Islamabad, and Gujranwala—by December. However, it has not yet decided whether to sell them together or separately. The UAE has expressed interest in acquiring First Women Bank Limited under a government-to-government agreement, with the deal expected by May. The Batman Returns

In the announcement of “Suits LA” season 1, NBC has revealed that the episode 4 will be titled “Batman Returns,” and it will be featuring Harvey’s first appearance in the spinoff. This marks the start of a multi-episode story arc, set to air on Sunday, March 16.

There has also been a new trailer for this episode and the first official logline of this debut was:

“While Suits LA has confirmed that Ted and Harvey know each other, it has been unclear up to this point what the status of their relationship is in the present day. For long-time Suits viewers, the original series didn’t reference their history, nor has the spinoff gone deeper into their background.” This highlights the dynamic between Ted and Harvey, something to get the suits fans excited!

Additionally, the NBC synopsis hints that Rick seeks Stuart’s help with a difficult actor’s arrest, though details on this actor remain unclear.

Final Takeaway

After watching the trailer, it’s clear that Suits LA episode 4 will serve as a pivotal moment for both Ted and Harvey. It also sheds light on their past while focusing on the ongoing narrative.

ATC Extends Armaghan’s Remand in Mustafa Amir Case

Armaghan’s Father Advised Him to Flee After Mustafa’s Murder: IO

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi has extended the physical remand of Armaghan, the prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case, for seven more days. The court has directed the investigation officer to submit a progress report at the next hearing. Prosecutors stated that more time was needed to recover a laptop and mobile phone, which they believe hold crucial evidence.

Armaghan’s defense counsel opposed the extension, arguing that the police had already completed their investigation and further remand was unnecessary. However, the court sided with the prosecution and approved the request. During the hearing, the judge inquired about the sealing of evidence, to which the investigation officer confirmed compliance. The court also permitted Armaghan’s parents to meet him briefly.

Petrol Prices in Pakistan May Drop by Rs15 Per Litre
A decline in global oil prices may lead to a significant reduction in petroleum product prices in Pakistan. Sources suggest that petrol prices could decrease by Rs13 to Rs15 per litre, while diesel prices may drop by up to Rs11 per litre.

There is a strong possibility that the government will reduce petroleum prices for the next 15 days. OGRA will prepare a price adjustment summary and send it to the prime minister for approval. If approved, the Ministry of Finance will issue a notification regarding the new rates.
This expected price cut comes after a decline in oil prices in the international market. The final decision on the price revision will be made after the government’s review.

Consumers across the country are eagerly waiting for the new fuel prices, which could provide some financial relief. More details on the price revision will be available once the official notification is issued.

Ibrahim Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s ‘Nadaaniyan’: 119 Minutes You’ll Never Get Back

Nadaaniyan

The most awaited Netflix OTT, Nadaaniyan, premiered on “March 7, 2025” and let’s just say it didn’t go as planned. This “cringe fest” is directed by Shauna Gautam and produced by our very own Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma productions. People were anticipating this as a supposed “Gen-z Rom-Com” but instead it only disappointed the audience. And surprisingly, they are still in denial.

Another Nepotism Disaster

The movie marks the acting debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan, alongside Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the legendary late Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor. Of course, this was just another nepo-baby film, after all, it’s a “KJO” film.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Netflix India (@netflix_in)

People already didn’t expect much from Khushi after her Archies and Loveyappa performance, but they were excited for Ibrahim Ali Khan as he was liked by many. The star kid had already made a name for himself due to the Indian paparazzi, with playful interactions that would go viral almost daily. People liked how he reminded them of young Saif and were rooting for him. However, when Nadaaniyan hit the screen, people were beyond disappointed.

It’s not like “Nepos” are always bad. We have Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor and many more being examples that some nepos know how to gracefully carry their parents’ legacy and live up to the opportunities they get. This is the main problem people have, Nadaaniyan’s star kids had such an opportunity, yet they didn’t try hard enough.

Ibrahim Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s 'Nadaaniyan': 119 Minutes You’ll Never Get Back
Ibrahim Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s ‘Nadaaniyan’: 119 Minutes You’ll Never Get Back

Typical “Student of The Year” Plot

The movie starts with Pia Jaisingh (Khushi Kapoor), who is a wealthy high-schooler and has severe daddy issues (are we even surprised?) Nobody takes her seriously in her old-money clan (turns out nobody did on screen too). Then we have Arjun Mehta (Ibrahim Ali Khan), the “IT nerdy, token boy.” He is a “brainy” student who got into Falcon High through a scholarship.

After a spat with her Insta-famous squad (Rhea and Sahira), Pia hires Arjun as her fake beau for ₹25k a week. Yes, love is just a paycheck. Overall, if you have seen the two “student of the year” movies, believe me you already know everything that is about to happen. And of course, the high school life shown is so different from reality. They have a history of giving us trust issues.

The movie is just forced flirty encounters, misused Gen-Z slangs and cinematography the same as your typical Instagram reels.

“AI-Generated” Dubbing

The main problem of this movie was not just nepotism but the “low quality” dubbing; it almost feels like it’s done by AI. It’s a sore to one’s ear. The visuals may have looked polished, but they certainly didn’t compensate for the underwhelming substance.

The camerawork? It will give you nausea. Just when the bad acting wasn’t enough. By now, you’re either numb or laughing at the glorious nonsense.

The Movie is Trending For “Hate-Watching”

One might assume that the movie is doing well due to it trending. Well, this is because, firstly, people were looking forward to it due to their crush on Ibrahim Ali Khan. Secondly, everyone disliked it so much that it got viral for all the bad reasons and now people are watching it just out of sheer curiosity or “hate-watching.’

The Veteran Side Cast: A Ray of Hope

Not everything is bad about the movie. The side cast of the movie has one of the most polished names of Bollywood: Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj (yes our “Mohabbatein” chocolate boy) and Mahima Chaudhry. They gave the audience the perfect dose of nostalgia. A much needed one!

Honestly, they are the ones who carried the whole acting department on their back. The debutants only enjoyed the PR created hype and didn’t bring much to the table themselves.

Final Verdict: Ibrahim Ali Khan Better as a Concept

“Ibrahim Ali Khan was just better as a concept… in those pap vids,” said an X user. Maybe, people just expected too much from a newbie and the newbie definitely was unaware of that. It’s too harsh to already close the door of expectations for them. Khushi got 3 chances already, Ibrahim deserves some too and then we will consider his credibility as an actor. Hopefully, until then, they will make use of criticism and work on their acting skills.

As for Nadaaniyan, we would suggest to instead go re-watch Mean Girls or even Student of the Year to save your mood. It’s just 2 hours of disappointment.

Look for reliable sources like books, research papers and expert articles. Use platforms like Google Scholar or online libraries to find trustworthy material.

Analyse the Information

Don’t just collect information — think critically about it! Ask yourself:

  • Are the sources reliable?
  • Do the studies agree or disagree?
  • Are there any gaps or missing pieces of information?

Organise your Article

Structure makes your article easier to read. Structure your article logically, typically starting with an introduction, followed by subsections and concluding with a summary and recommendations.

Use this simple layout: Title, Abstract (Optional), Introduction, Main Body, Conclusion, References.

Write Clearly and Simply

Your readers should understand your points without struggling. Use simple language, explain difficult words and keep your sentences short and to the point.

Steps to Write a Review Article
Steps to Write a Review Article

Share Your Insights

Your voice matters! Don’t just summarise — add your thoughts. If you notice that research is outdated or that studies contradict each other, point it out. This makes your article more valuable.

Edit and Refine

Once you’ve written your draft, take a break, then come back and review it with fresh eyes. Check for grammar mistakes, awkward sentences and unclear points. If it’s an academic paper, cite sources appropriately and ensure all references are accurately cited, adhering to the relevant citing styles like APA, MLA or Chicago.

What to Include in a Review Article

  • Title: Choose a title that explains your article. Example: “The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health.”
  • Abstract (Optional): Provide a short and concise summary of your article, including its purpose, main findings and conclusions.
  • Introduction: Introduce the topic, explain its importance and outline the scope of the review.
  • Main Body: Split this into sections based on themes or points. For example, you might have sections on social media addiction, anxiety and self-esteem. Discuss the literature, organise it, highlight key findings and start debates.
  • Conclusion: Summarise the main insights, acknowledge limitations and suggest what should be researched next.
  • References: List the sources you used to back up your points.

Article Review Example

To illustrate, let’s consider an example of a review article in the field of environmental science:

Title: “Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change on Coastal Ecosystems: A Comprehensive Review”

Abstract: This review examines existing research on the effects of climate change on coastal ecosystems, focusing on habitat loss, species migration and changes in ecosystem services.

Introduction: The introduction discusses the importance of coastal ecosystems, the threats posed by climate change and the need for a comprehensive review.

Main Body: Organised into sections on habitat loss, species migration and ecosystem services, each subsection summarises relevant studies, methodologies and findings.

Conclusion: The review concludes by highlighting the critical impacts identified, noting gaps in current research going on and suggesting direction for future studies on this topic.

References: A comprehensive list of all research studies and sources referenced throughout the review.

Tips for Writing a Great Review Article

  • Stay Objective: Present different viewpoints without bias.
  • Stay Neutral: Be fair — share both the good and bad sides of the topic.
  • Keep it Clear and Concise: Use simple, straightforward language to make complex ideas simple.
  • Think About Your Audience: Write in a way your readers will understand.
  • Ensure Smooth Flow: Use transitions to maintain a natural flow between sections.
  • Be Thoughtful: Don’t just summarise; instead, analyse all the sides and offer insights.
  • Check Your SEO: Seamlessly incorporate keywords like ‘what is cappuccino, how to make cappuccino and homemade cappuccino recipe to boost your article’s online visibility.
  • Revise, Revise, Revise: Editing is just as important as writing!

The key is that review articles are not just about summarising information but also about collecting knowledge, identifying patterns and guiding readers through a sea of information available online. Once you break it down into proper steps, it becomes a fun and creative process. You get to explore a topic, share your thoughts and guide readers through its different ideas in a simple way.

So, take your time, trust your instincts, pick a topic that excites you, dive into the research and start writing! And remember, every great review starts with a curious mind and a willingness to dig deep. You’ve got this!

US Unveils New App for ‘Self-Deportations’

Source: KBTX

In a surprising move to revolutionise the US immigration system, the Trump administration has re-purposed the CBP One app—renamed CBP Home—to encourage voluntary deportations of undocumented immigrants. Initially launched in 2020 to assist migrants in scheduling asylum appointments at US ports of entry, the app has been re-designed to enable users to fill out an “intent to depart” form, indicating they are willing to depart the nation without incurring harsh penalties.

From Asylum Appointments to Self-Deportation

As per US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the app provides illegal immigrants an opportunity to self-deport without closing the door on legal reentry in the future. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that self-deportation via CBP Home gives migrants the opportunity to one day return to the US legally and relive the American dream. She cautioned that not using the app could lead to being discovered, deported and prohibited from returning.

Trump administration launches new 'self-deportation' app | Reuters

How the App Works

The app inquires about the financial capability of the users to leave the US and whether they hold a valid, unexpired passport in their native country. After receiving the required information, the migrants may go ahead with their intentions to vacate the country voluntarily. The creation of this app is one component of a wider strategy that involves a $200 million domestic and global ad campaign encouraging undocumented migrants to “stay out and leave now.”

CBP Home also maintains some of its initial capabilities, including applying and paying for I-94 entry and departure cards, scheduling inspections of perishable cargo, and examining wait times at ports of entry. Yet the app’s movement into helping with self-deportation represents a dramatic departure from its original purpose.

Part of a Broader Strategy

Also, the Trump administration has been implementing other reforms to immigration policies, such as suspending parole programmes and increasing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. It also planned to create a national registry for illegal immigrants. Those who do not enroll may be criminally prosecuted, with the mandate for those over the age of 14 to give an address and fingerprints.

Though the app’s effectiveness and usefulness are yet to be determined, officials caution that implementing a national registry will be a difficult process fraught with logistical challenges. As the US government continues to clamp down on immigration, the CBP Home app is another contentious move in a rapidly changing environment.

From National Hero to Street Vendor: The Tragic Tale of Muhammad Riaz

from-national-hero-to-street-vendor-muhammad-riaz

Imagine representing your country on an international stage, wearing the national jersey with pride, and making countless sacrifices for your passion. Now, imagine being forgotten, struggling to make ends meet, and selling jalebis on the street just to survive. This is the heartbreaking reality of Muhammad Riaz, a former Pakistan footballer who played in the 2018 Asian Games but now stands on a street corner in Hangu, cooking jalebis instead of chasing footballs.

Riaz, once a key player for K-Electric, recently shared his story in a tearful video that has gone viral on social media. His words reflect the frustration and disappointment of an athlete abandoned by the very system he once represented.

“For years, I waited for the promised revival of departmental sports,” Riaz lamented.

“I was hopeful after hearing the prime minister’s announcement [about the revival of departments], but the delay had been unbearable.

“With no income, I had to find an honest way to provide for my family. That’s why I now stand at a street corner, cooking jalebis instead of practicing football.”

Pakistan’s Football Crisis: 8 Years Without a League

The biggest question is—how did it come to this? The answer lies in the collapse of Pakistan’s football structure. The country has not hosted a proper football league in the last eight years. Despite being one of the most popular sports globally, football in Pakistan remains an afterthought.

Muhammad Riaz, like many other athletes, was left jobless after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government banned departmental sports. This move, which was meant to encourage club-based systems, instead left hundreds of athletes in limbo with no financial security.

“Our society does not prioritise sports. Until that mindset changes, departmental support is crucial for athletes,” Riaz pointed out.

“How can young players be inspired to pursue football when they see a national player like me selling jalebis to survive?”

His words hit hard. How can a country that cheers for global football stars ignore its own talented players?

A Professional Football League Is the Only Way Forward

If Pakistan truly wants to develop its footballing talent, the best solution is to establish a Professional Football League featuring international players competing alongside Pakistani footballers.

This would provide local athletes with much-needed exposure and training of international standards. A league of this caliber would not only elevate the skills of Pakistani players but also boost the sport’s popularity in the country.

Young footballers would have role models to look up to, and the overall quality of the game would improve. It would also attract investment, sponsors, and global attention, ultimately benefiting Pakistan’s football ecosystem.

Will the Government Step Up?

Riaz’s story is not an isolated one. Countless national athletes, particularly in football and hockey, have faced similar struggles. There have been repeated assurances from the government about reviving departmental sports, but little has been done to turn those words into action.

His story has sparked outrage on social media, with fans demanding the government take immediate action. The calls for restoring departmental sports and supporting struggling athletes are growing louder by the day.

It’s time for authorities to realize that national heroes like Muhammad Riaz deserve better. They should not have to choose between their passion and survival.

The government must act—not just with promises but with real solutions—to ensure that future generations do not suffer the same fate as Muhammad Riaz and many others like him.

No PCB Official at Champions Trophy Final? Here’s What Really Happened

no-pcb-official-at-champions-trophy-final

The Champions Trophy 2025 final had everything—thrilling cricket, passionate fans, and an electrifying atmosphere in Dubai. But one thing was missing: a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official on stage during the post-match ceremony.

This absence sparked outrage among Pakistani fans, with many questioning why there was no PCB representation at an event where Pakistan was the official host. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now responded, clarifying the situation.

ICC’s Explanation: It Was About Protocol

According to an ICC spokesperson, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was invited to attend the final and be part of the closing ceremony. However, he did not travel to Dubai, which meant there was no official Pakistani presence on stage.

“Mr. Naqvi was unavailable and did not travel to Dubai for the final,” the ICC clarified.

The ICC further stated that their long-standing protocol only allows the head of the host board—whether the chairman, president, vice president, or CEO—to be part of the presentation ceremony.

Other PCB officials present at the venue were not eligible to be on stage, as per these established procedures.

Why Didn’t PCB’s CEO Get a Spot?

While the ICC insists that protocol was followed, sources within the PCB are not satisfied. They argue that PCB’s CEO Sumair Ahmad Syed, who was in Dubai as the tournament director, should have been given a place on stage.

A PCB insider revealed that the board plans to raise this issue with the ICC and formally inquire why its CEO was overlooked.

“It is concerning that Pakistan was not given representation at the closing ceremony despite the presence of a key PCB official in Dubai,” the source said.

What Happens Next?

With the PCB planning to formally inquire about this issue, we may see some clarification from the ICC in the coming days. However, at this point, it seems like a case of strict protocol rather than deliberate exclusion.

That being said, this incident has once again raised questions about PCB’s handling of major events and whether they should have been more proactive in ensuring their presence at such a significant moment.

Pakistan Prepares for New Zealand Tour

Pakistan Prepares for New Zealand Tour

The Pakistan National Cricket team is preparing to face their tour of New Zealand, which kicks off on the 16th of March in 2025. The matches will consist of five T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs), as they aim to lay down a performance after recent misfortunes across the globe.

Preparations for the Tough Conditions in New Zealand

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has established an intensive training camp at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground (LCCA) to get the team ready for New Zealand’s challenging environment. Led by T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and vice-captain Shadab Khan, players are concentrating on strategy, fitness and adjustability. The team also includes top players such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Haris, as well as promising new faces such as Hasan Nawaz and Jahandad Khan.

Eyeing Redemption Following Recent Setbacks

Pakistan’s recent ICC competition record has been poor, their most recent misfortune being an underwhelming loss in the Champions Trophy. In contrast, New Zealand demonstrated their prowess by qualifying for the final of the Champions Trophy, but were denied a place in the final against England through a nail-biting climax. Pakistan would like to use New Zealand’s disappointment to turn their own fortunes around on this tour.

The upcoming 2025 Asia Cup (T20 format) and the 2026 T20 World Cup provide the Pakistani administration with motivation to construct a sturdy and competitive side. The incoming series will be a testing area for the aspiring players seeking guaranteed spots in the team for such pivotal tournaments.

T20I and ODI Battle

The tour begins with the T20I series opener at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, and then continues in Dunedin, Auckland, Mount Maunganui and Wellington. The ODI series will begin on March 29 at McLean Park, Napier, with Hamilton and Mount Maunganui also hosting games.

With Pakistan’s inconsistent performance in the recent T20I series against New Zealand, which concluded in a 2-2 draw on home ground, the team is set to provide better results this time.

Building Towards Bigger Goals

This tour presents Pakistan with a golden chance to rebuild their image and gain momentum going into future ICC tournaments. If the team can step up, it could be the start of a much-needed revival for Pakistan cricket.

Elon Musk Claims X Was Hit by Major Cyberattack

Elon Musk said on X that the platform was hit by a major cyberattack and continues to face similar threats. Screenshots of his post reportedly read, “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and (or) a country is involved.”

According to Reuters, NY Post and the BBC, Musk said he was working to trace the source of the attack. He did not clarify what he meant by “a lot of resources” or provide evidence for his claim. In an interview with Fox Business, Musk alleged that computers involved in the attack had digital addresses in the Ukraine area. He added that X was still investigating the incident.

Reports of X’s outage began at 6 PM on Monday, peaking around 10 PM and 12 AM (SGT). According to Downdetector.com, 58% of complaints were about the app, while 31% were about the website. Users across Asia, Europe and North America faced issues. In the US alone, tens of thousands of users reported problems accessing the platform.

Several cybersecurity experts told foreign media that it is difficult to assess the attack without access to X’s internal data. Musk has frequently criticised Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky, with several recent posts targeting Zelensky. Last year, Musk claimed X was under massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, which were never verified.

New Zealand Announces Squad for Pakistan T20I Series

New Zealand Cricket has announced a 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting on Sunday in Christchurch. Michael Bracewell will lead the team as regular captain Mitchell Santner is unavailable. Kane Williamson was not considered after making himself unavailable. The squad includes Finn Allen, Jimmy Neesham, Ish Sodhi and Tim Seifert, who have been recalled.

Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke will play the first three matches as the selectors manage the workloads of pacers returning from the Champions Trophy. Matt Henry, who was the top wicket-taker in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, will feature in the last two games. Last year, Bracewell led the BLACKCAPS on a white-ball tour of Pakistan and shared that he enjoyed the experience.

I really enjoyed leading the side in Pakistan last year and we’ve got many players from that squad included for this series as well, which is nice,” Bracewell said.
