What’s The Latest?

The incredible US Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) is encouraging Pakistani students to apply for the Fulbright Scholarship Program 2023. In a Fulbright scheme, the US Department of State funds the Fulbright Masters and Ph.D. programs. This includes fully-funded tuition, books, travel, a living stipend, and health insurance. Yes, this is not a dream and you can get it too!

The deadline to apply is 11 May 2022.

The First Few Steps

The applications for Fulbright are firstly only for Masters and PhD programs. All applications except clinical medicine one are valid. People from the energy, water, agriculture, health, education, social sciences, and the environment are welcome to apply.

You also need to know that you need to give a test before. You must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE General) which is like an SAT exam on steroids for much older people.

Scoring in Preliminary Tests

The GRE keeps changing every year. The announcement stated that “Under the new scoring system, minimum scores of 138 in the verbal and 136 in the quantitative parts are necessary”. Shortlisted candidates are required to take the TOEFL exam after the GRE.

Who Should Apply?

You can apply if you’re a Pakistani student who promises to return home after studying. Eligible for applying are also those who hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree. Alternatively, if you have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree combination you can also apply. Ph.D. candidates are required to hold a Master’s, M.Phil., or comparable degree (18 years of formal education) from an approved university.

In addition to this, women, people from rural and underprivileged areas such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) or Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) are highly encouraged. Moreover, you are also encouraged to apply if you have an impairment.

Kaju Ki Mithayi or Kaju barfi is a traditional Indian dessert that has significant importance. Meanwhile, chicken soup is comfort food, and the two stand on opposite poles in the food chart. While it is not illegal to eat and drink while driving, we recommend avoiding it. Now it has come to light that smartwatches may be a bigger distraction to drivers than mobile phones!

Yes, it is possible that the watch you may be wearing could be a bigger distraction. The mobile phone may be tucked away in your pocket but those smartwatches are blasting away the notifications. One cannot help but steal a glance at the watch while driving. This shows that smartwatches can prove to be bigger and more dangerous distractions for drivers. Let us dive into a little more detail.

Smartwatches and Driving:

There were some observations and tests made recently. Apparently, drivers were tested on the area of ‘focus’. There were a number of instances that they were provided with, including mobile phone notification and smartwatches. It seems, from the results, that drivers were less focused on the road when the notification was on the smartwatch, as compared to the mobile phone.

It has been said that 70% of all handheld technology will comprise smartwatches by 2022. That is quite a lot of them in the hands of people. This means that there is a higher chance of people getting distracted by them while driving. If people want smartwatch use to be restricted while driving, there needs to be more research that proves this. One cannot just pass a law without just cause and proof.

Staying Safe:

It has also been noted that voice assistants were less distracting to drivers than smartwatches. Imagine something being so distracting that it surpasses other pieces of technology. A lot of accidents can be avoided if there was a way to lessen the use of smartwatches while driving.

There is even more research being done on this as we speak because it is a major concern. Studies have shown that 90% of many types of accidents are the result of human errors. Of course, we cannot completely eradicate human errors but we can reduce the chances in which an accident takes place. It has been concluded that smartwatches do have a negative effect while driving. The safest way of communication to the driver has been through voice.

Driving Carefully:

We hope that there can be a solution to this smartwatch distraction problem. Distraction itself can be extremely dangerous, especially when in a situation such as driving. Maybe there can be a way to use a smartwatch while driving but still stay focused on the road. IF we were to use voice assistants to deliver messages rather than written notifications, the distraction can be avoided.

Instead of looking down on your wrist, it would be much safer if a voice assistant dictates your notification. We urge everyone to take care of themselves and drive safely.

Don’t you just love them, their taste, and that perfect little stack that comes out of the can? Ever wonder how that stack is even possible? Or that that stack enables more chips to fit in one can without wasting space? Well, that’s because there is a backstory to the shape of pringles ships.

So the shape comes as a solution to a critical problem. The issue with potato chips was always that they become greasy, they break easily, or they go stale. So a chemist decided to employ his knowledge of mathematics and came up with a solution.

Samsung Electronics today extended its commitment to delivering the most up-to-date and more secure mobile experience possible for users by offering up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades on select Galaxy devices.

This improved standard builds upon Samsung’s previous promise to provide up to three generations of upgrades and ensures millions of Galaxy users have access to the latest features for security, productivity, better usability, and more, for as long as they own their device. Available on select Galaxy S series, Z series, and A series smartphones, as well as tablets, Samsung is planning to scale this effort across its various product ranges within the Galaxy ecosystem and works closely with partners to deliver Android OS upgrades through Samsung One UI. Samsung also provides up to four years of upgrades to One UI Watch and Wear OS Powered by Samsung, ensuring that users can enjoy the latest Galaxy Watch experiences.

In addition to offering extended One UI upgrades, Samsung will now provide up to five years of security updates to help protect select Galaxy devices.
