Coffee Lovers React With Disgust To Caramelized Onion Flavor

We’ve seen food bloggers try the most abhorrent food combinations from time to time. Be it a challenge, a new trend, or a simple attempt to go viral, bloggers see no restrictions. Recently, a Singaporean food blogger by the name “Food Makes Cal Happy,” has disgusted all coffee lovers across the world.

Caramelized Onions and Coffee

Calvin Lee, the owner of the blog, shared a small reel on Instagram, where he caramelized some onions, and mixed them in a cup of piping hot coffee. If this visual wasn’t disgusting enough, he then had a sip. It was more than a sip, he finished the entire cup! Just a moment please, we need to get this image out of our minds.

Additionally, we even see Cal use his previously caramelized onions as a topping for something way worse. Ice cream! Something so yummy, ruined.

Coffee lovers, and normal people alike, are disgusted with these horrific combinations. And the response has been hilarious. Cal’s comment section has been filled with other, equally ridiculous food combinations.

Have a look:

Coffee with onions

The comments have sarcastically suggested far worse items to add to your daily coffee. One of which was chili. Can you imagine a spicy cup of coffee? One viewer was even curious enough to ask how many doctor visits Cal needs due to his diet.

If you think this is a first-time incident, it’s not. Calvin Lee is actually popular for this very reason, horrifying food combinations.

If you visit Calvin Lee’s food blog you’ll come to know that he has been mixing different popular food items for a while now. Ice cream with white rice, cheese with Coca-Cola, and even oyster sauce with curd. Now if these don’t make you throw up a little then you have a serious stomach for these combinations.

Former Cricketer Wants PCB To Back Saim Ayub, Azam Khan Despite Failures

pcb-should-support-saim-ayub-azam-khan

Former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has voiced concerns over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) inconsistent selection policies. In a recent interview with a local news outlet, Ahmed emphasized the need for stability and support for young talents like Azam Khan and Saim Ayub, despite their recent struggles.

Criticism of Inconsistent Selection

Mushtaq Ahmed didn’t hold back when discussing the PCB’s erratic selection criteria. He criticized the frequent changes in player lineups, which he believes confuses both players and fans.

“The consistency lies in your selection criteria,” Mushtaq said. “You play someone for one or two matches and then drop them, only to bring them back after a couple of games. This confuses everyone.”

why-pakistan-continues-to-back-azam-khan

He stressed the importance of a stable selection process. “When you were playing consistently for three or four series, it felt strange when they said they were still figuring out the combination. If you need that long to understand the combination, it means there is no consistency in your selection.”

Supporting Young Talent

Ahmed highlighted the uncertainty surrounding team selections. “We also don’t know which players will be included or excluded in the next tournament. This inconsistency affects the team’s combination and the players’ performance,” he stated.

Mushtaq also addressed the issue of developing bench strength, lamenting the PCB’s failure to nurture young talent during successful periods. He pointed out that promising players like Azam Khan and Saim Ayub deserve consistent backing from the board.

saim-ayub-shares-the-story-behind-no-look-shot

“Our bench strength isn’t improving. Do you know why? We’ve never experimented, never lifted people from the bench during successful periods. That is the best time to bring in young players,” Mushtaq explained.

“Saim Ayub has shown talent, hasn’t he? Azam Khan came in the middle overs and hit sixes in the PSL. To get the best out of players like Azam or Saim, it’s also the role of coaches and management to back them.”

Both Saim Ayub and Azam Khan have faced challenges in the T20I format recently. Saim has played 23 matches, scoring 309 runs with a highest score of 49, averaging 14.71 at a strike rate of 122.13.

Meanwhile, Azam Khan, in his 14 T20I appearances, has accumulated 88 runs with an unbeaten highest score of 30, averaging 8.80 at a strike rate of 133.33.

Karachi Hit By Shocking New Scam – Here’s What Happened

Rickshaw Karachi

The internet has a way of bringing both joy and horror to our screens. A recent video from Karachi falling in the latter category has been going viral. This has in-turn been sending shockwaves through the city and sparking serious safety concerns for the people. Let’s have a closer examination of what really happened and the dangers it exposes.

Crime Doesn’t Discriminate: No One Is Safe In Karachi

The video, being circulated on social media shows what appears to be a harmless scene: a bearded guy and a rickshaw driver waiting by their rickshaw. The man with the beard is on the phone and claims to be waiting for someone who can pay him. A third individual walks into the picture and offers them both a cool treat to beat the heat in the form of sugarcane juice, which is a  a common street beverage in Karachi.

The following development was anything but refreshing. We can see the rickshaw driver starts to show signs of fatigue after drinking the sugarcane juice. While they are sitting on the stairs and talking after a while he finally passes out. The bearded man can be seen looking left and right making sure no one is the wiser of the scene and lays next to him while talking. The man can be seen to be making sure that the driver is out and hatches the final plot of his devious plan. After the victim loses consciousness, the bearded man abducts the rickshaw and vanishes into the streets.

This video exposes a disturbing new tactic employed by Karachi criminals. Sugarcane juice, a drink associated with summer refreshment, has now become a potential tool for drugging unsuspecting individuals. This raises serious concerns about the safety of street vendors and the vulnerability of everyday citizens.

The Aftermath & Public Reaction

The video has sparked outrage and fear in Karachi. Citizens are understandably shaken by the audacity of the crime and the ease with which the victim was targeted. Social media is abuzz with discussions about the incident. Many people expressing concern about their own safety and calling for action from the authorities. The video doesn’t reveal the substance used to drug the sugarcane juice or the long-term impact on the victim. However, it serves as a stark reminder of the lengths criminals are willing to go to in order to commit crimes.

Concluding Remarks

The viral video serves as a wake-up call for both citizens and authorities in Karachi. By staying informed, taking precautions, and holding authorities accountable, we can create a safer environment for everyone in the city. It serves as a grim reminder to not take freebies from anyone randomly from the streets. Let’s work together to ensure that a refreshing drink on the street doesn’t turn into a nightmare for any one of us.

Government Revises Duties On Imported Used Cars

In the recent fiscal budget for 2024-25, the government made several tax amendments affecting Pakistan’s vulnerable auto industry. With the Finance Bill 2024-25 approved, the new duties and taxes are now in effect.

New Regulatory Duty on Imported Vehicles

The government has implemented a 15% regulatory duty (RD) on imported used vehicles with engine capacities ranging from 1300cc to 1800cc. For cars above 1800cc, the RD is 70-90%. There is no regulatory duty on cars under 1300cc. This means popular models like Toyota Aqua, Honda Vezel, and CHR will see a price increase.

Engine Capacity and RD Breakdown:

  • 0-1300cc: No RD for hybrid and petrol cars.
  • 1300-1800cc: 16% RD for both hybrid and petrol cars.
  • Above 1800cc: 15% RD for hybrid cars, 70-90% RD for petrol cars.

Smaller-engine cars (below 1300cc), such as Daihatsu Mira, Nissan Dayz, and Toyota Vitz, are exempt from this RD and will continue with their current fixed taxes. This exemption might benefit these smaller cars but could hurt local manufacturers like Pak Suzuki, which produces vehicles like the Alto (660cc), WagonR (1000cc), Cultus (1000cc), and Swift (1200cc).

Impact on Imported HEVs

The biggest impact will likely be felt on used Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) exceeding 1300cc. These include models like Honda Vezel, Toyota Yaris Cross, Honda CHR HEV, and Toyota Corolla Cross. Their prices are expected to jump by a significant Rs. 2.5 million to Rs. 3 million, pushing their current market value from Rs. 7.5 million to Rs. 9.5 million.

The government has also revised the withholding tax, which will now be charged on the ex-factory price rather than engine capacity. This move has forced local automakers to increase their car prices. Recently, MG Pakistan and Regal Automobiles raised their prices, citing the new tax effect. In the coming days, the market will likely see further price hikes.

No Custom Duty Exemptions

There are no custom duty exemptions on old and new imported (CBU) hybrid cars under SRO 499. This move aims to protect locally assembled HEVs.

The new regulatory duties and tax revisions are set to reshape Pakistan’s auto industry. While some smaller car models benefit from exemptions, larger imported vehicles, especially HEVs, will face significant price hikes. Local manufacturers will need to adapt to the changing landscape as the government aims to balance protection for local production with revenue generation through new taxes.

National Stadium To Receive Major Upgradation Ahead of Champions Trophy

national-stadium-to-be-upgraded-ahead-of-champions-trophy-2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced plans to revamp the National Bank Stadium, Karachi in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Set to take place from February 19 to March 9 next year, the tournament will feature Pakistan as both the host and defending champion.

Stadium Upgrades Unveiled

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was elected unopposed, revealed earlier this year that stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi would undergo significant upgrades. The work has already started, and the National Bank Stadium is set to see some major improvements.

Naqvi expressed his dissatisfaction with the viewer experience during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 final in Karachi. This has prompted the PCB to bring the stadium up to international standards.

National Stadium

What’s Changing?

The organization in charge of the upgrade project has begun preliminary work, including detailed maps and land measurements. These plans are set to be approved at a PCB Governing Board meeting chaired by Naqvi on Saturday, July 6.

Once approved, construction will officially kick-off. The main building will be repaired rather than demolished, with key upgrades including:

  • Relocating the Media Center: The media centre will be moved to the opposite side of the stadium.
  • New Digital Scoreboard: A state-of-the-art digital scoreboard will be installed.
  • Hospitality Boxes: The 30 hospitality boxes in the east and west stands will be significantly improved.
  • Dressing Rooms: The dressing rooms will be renovated to meet modern standards.

Interestingly, there are no plans to demolish the existing enclosures or increase the stadium’s seating capacity, which currently holds 32,000 spectators.

For the unversed, the Champions Trophy 2025 will feature 15 matches across three venues:

  • Lahore: Hosting seven matches, including the final.
  • Karachi: Hosting the opening match, a semi-final, and a total of three matches.
  • Rawalpindi: Hosting five matches, including a semi-final.

A notable highlight is that India will play all its matches in Lahore.

YouTube Enforces New Guidelines On AI Content

YouTube has unveiled a new policy allowing individuals to request the removal of AI-generated content that mimics their face or voice. This move addresses privacy concerns rather than issues of misleading information or deepfakes.

Requesting Removal of Synthetic Content

Under the updated policy, individuals can now ask for the removal of synthetic content that violates their privacy. The process, detailed in YouTube’s updated Help documentation, requires first-party claims. Exceptions are made for minors, individuals without computer access, deceased persons, or other specified cases.

AI contents
Source: Automate

However, submitting a request does not automatically guarantee removal. YouTube will evaluate the complaint based on several criteria. These include whether the content is disclosed as synthetic or AI-generated, if it uniquely identifies a person, and whether it can be considered parody, satire, or of public interest.

Factors Influencing YouTube’s Decision

YouTube will also consider if the AI content involves a public figure or well-known individual and if it depicts them engaging in sensitive behavior such as criminal activity, violence, or endorsing a product or political candidate. The platform aims to balance privacy concerns with the public’s right to information.

In response to a complaint, YouTube will give the uploader 48 hours to act on the request. If the content is removed within this timeframe, the complaint is resolved. If not, YouTube will begin a review process. Notably, removal means the video will be fully taken down from the site.

YouTube’s Nuanced Approach to AI Content

YouTube’s approach to AI-generated content reflects the company’s nuanced stance on the issue. The platform has been experimenting with generative AI tools, including a comment summariser and a conversational tool for asking questions about a video or getting summariser

In cases of privacy complaints over AI material, YouTube will not penalize the original content creator. Instead, the focus will be on addressing the privacy violation, which is separate from Community Guidelines strikes.

Implications and Future Prospects

This policy change highlights YouTube’s commitment to protecting individual privacy in the age of AI. By allowing users to request the removal of synthetic content that violates their privacy, YouTube is taking a significant step towards ensuring that its platform remains a safe and respectful space for all users.

As AI technology continues to evolve, YouTube’s new policy sets a precedent for other social media platforms grappling with similar issues. The balance between innovation and privacy will remain a critical area of focus, and YouTube’s approach may serve as a model for others in the industry.

Aagha Ali’s Statements On Women Lead To Public Backlash

Aagha Ali’s talents stretch beyond acting. He is also a renowned singer, presenter, and writer. After appearing in a comedy special “Mazak Raat” Aagha made some bold statements regarding what women want these days, and it wasn’t love.

After claiming to know exactly what women want in a man, and then explaining how he suggests every man to work for that exactly, the actor is facing backlash.

Aagha Ali Claims Women Don’t Want Love

The conversation that led to the actor making such a bold statement began with a question thrown his way. When he was asked, how do you become a patient man, after being in love, the actor replied, by waiting.

Aagha Ali then shared a scenario explaining, if a boy is honestly in love. If is putting all his efforts into the relationship and is fully invested in it, then definitely something bad will happen to him. Everyone laughed at this joke.

Here’s the interview:

He then continued, that this is the case because that’s not all women want these days. He was smart enough to mention right in the beginning that not everyone will be fond of what I’m about to say, however, it’s the fact. The actor maintained, “Women these days want a certain level of luxury and security.”

Additionally, he also mentioned that this is the reason why he encourages men to get settled first. Make a name for themselves, have some money in their pocket, and then go out looking for love.

Though it seems the singers’ words came from experience, the public was not a fan.

Here are some of the comments:

Aagha ali faces backlash

Some people even brought up how Aagha is not in the position to be giving such advice given his divorce. The backlash came from women who didn’t agree and were confused as to why he was speaking on their behalf, especially as a man.

Needless to say, many people appreciated what he said and considered it factual.

Who Will Decide Babar Azam’s Future As Pakistan Captain?

who-will-decide-babar-azam-future-as-pakistan-captain

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is facing intense criticism following the national team’s early exit from the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. Many fans and critics are demanding his resignation as captain, putting his leadership under a microscope.

Babar Azam, however, has made it clear after the World Cup that the decision to continue or end his captaincy lies with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). “The PCB appointed me as captain, and it will be their decision to remove me or continue with me,” Babar stated.

Will PCB remove Babar Azam?

Since Babar’s statement, fans and critics have been urging PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to make a decision regarding his captaincy. During a media interaction in Lahore on Thursday, Naqvi addressed the situation.

Naqvi mentioned that no decision has been made yet regarding Babar Azam’s future as captain. He is currently consulting with former cricketers to gather their input before making a final decision. “There is, however, no decision taken so far related to Babar Azam,” Naqvi told reporters.

babar-azam-under-fire-after-pakistan-loss-to-usa

“I’m only speaking to those former cricketers who are interested in the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” he added, without specifying which former cricketers he was consulting.

Naqvi revealed that one former cricketer, whose name he did not disclose, has already provided a detailed report on the shortcomings of Pakistan cricket.

Although there is no official confirmation, several reports suggest that former players like Moin Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Saqlain Mushtaq, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Kamran Akmal might be among those consulted.

As fans await a resolution, the future of Pakistan’s white-ball leadership hangs in the balance. Babar Azam, one of the team’s most consistent performers, now faces the challenge of either adapting to retain his captaincy or stepping aside for the team’s greater good.

PTA Orders Telcos To Run Mass Surveillance System

Telecom companies in Pakistan have been running a mass surveillance system. This system intercepts customer data without legal or regulatory oversight, as directed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Court Mandate and Legal Implications

A written order seen by revealed that Justice Babar Sattar has mandated PTA officials to respond within six weeks. They are also required to appear at the next hearing on September 4. The petitions were filed by Bushra Bibi, spouse of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and Najamus Saqib, son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. These petitions stem from leaked telephone conversations on social media.

The court’s preliminary assessment indicated that the PTA chairman and members misrepresented themselves. It is concerning the Lawful Intercept Management System (LIMS). The order highlighted that the federal government has not granted permission under the Telegraph Act or the Telecom Act for any agency or individual to record audio calls or surveil citizens.

Unauthorized Surveillance

The order states, “The federal government, as well as law enforcement and intelligence agencies across Pakistan, have never once sought a warrant for surveillance under provisions of the Fair Trial Act. However, a mass citizen surveillance system in the form of a Lawful Intercept Management System has been installed at the expense of Telecom Licensees [companies] on the direction of the PTA at a Surveillance Center designated by the PTA, for use by designated agencies.”

This system allows agencies to monitor up to four million telephone calls simultaneously. It provides access to citizens’ audio and video data through telecom networks. The order asserts that LIMS has been installed and operated without legal backing. This potentially exposes those using or enabling the system to criminal liability under various laws, including the Fair Trial Act, Telecom Act, Pakistan Electronic Media Crimes Act (PECA), Telegraph Act, and Pakistan Penal Code.

 Digital Rights Concerns

Digital rights experts have raised alarms over this unregulated mass surveillance. Nighat Dad, Haroon Baloch from Bytes for All, and journalist Ramsha Jahangir have expressed significant concerns. They talked about the implications of LIMS on privacy and civil liberties. They emphasize the need for stringent oversight and legal frameworks to prevent abuse of surveillance powers.

PTA

The unfolding situation underscores a critical debate about privacy, security, and the rule of law in Pakistan. As the case progresses, it will be essential to monitor the responses of PTA officials and the government’s stance on regulating surveillance technologies. Ensuring transparency and legal compliance in such matters is vital to safeguarding citizens’ rights in the digital age.

Rashid Latif Slams Babar, Rizwan: Change Your Game Or Get Out!

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has not minced his words in criticizing white-ball captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. Latif has called on the duo to change their batting approach or face the possibility of being dropped from the T20I squad.

Babar and Rizwan have come under fire for their slow batting style in T20Is. Despite their consistent scoring, their strike rates hover around the 130s, which Latif believes is too slow for modern T20 cricket.

A Warning for Babar Azam and Rizwan

In a candid discussion on his YouTube channel, Latif urged the Pakistani pair to take inspiration from Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who changed their game over the years to fit in the T20I team.

“Rohit has transformed his game completely; he has become a role model. His IPL strike rate used to be 130-140, but this year it went up to 160. Virat Kohli did the same thing. If these two can change, then anyone can,” Latif said.

Latif gave a stern warning to Babar and Rizwan, stating, “I would give Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan five matches to change their batting approach in T20Is, and if they don’t, then there should be no place in the team for them.”

Leadership Concerns

The former wicketkeeper also touched on the turmoil within the Pakistan team, especially regarding Babar’s return as captain. He believes Babar’s reinstatement has caused more harm than good, amid rumors of groupings within the team.

“After the World Cup in India, things shouldn’t have gone the way they did. It’s their own thinking that they [PCB] removed Babar, and Shaheen [Afridi] came forward, but then again, Babar became weak as a captain,” said Latif.

“Whoever comes to lead should do so with confidence. In my opinion, Babar’s biggest mistake was accepting the captaincy again. If he continues as captain, that will be an even bigger mistake,” he added.

Babar Azam and his team has been under intense scrutiny following their poor performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stage for the first time in history.

As Pakistan looks to rebuild and regain their former glory, the call for change is louder than ever. Whether Babar and Rizwan can adapt their game remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the pressure is on.

Pakistan-India Clash Date Revealed For Champions Trophy 2025

champions-trophy-bcci-refutes-reports-of-pcb-offer-pakistan-india-clash-date-revealed-for-champions-trophy-2025

The arch-rivals Pakistan and India are set to face off in a highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match on March 1 at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, according to the proposed schedule. This exciting news comes from Indian media reports citing an ICC Board member.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly submitted the schedule for the Champions Trophy to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The schedule has been approved by all participating countries except India.

Venues and Groups of Champions Trophy

According to an ICC Board member, “The PCB has submitted the draft of the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. Seven games in Lahore, three in Karachi, and five in Rawalpindi.”

Interestingly, all of India’s matches are scheduled to be played in Lahore due to security reasons.

The tournament’s host, Pakistan, is grouped with India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in Group A. While, Group B will feature England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.

The action kicks off in Karachi on February 19 and concludes with the final in Lahore on March 9. In case of bad weather, March 10 is reserved as an alternate date for the final.

Karachi and Rawalpindi will each host a semifinal. However, if India makes it to the semifinals, their match will be shifted to Lahore due to the city’s proximity to India.

Will India Travel to Pakistan?

One of the biggest questions is whether India will be allowed to travel to Pakistan. For years, political tensions have prevented India’s national cricket team from touring Pakistan.

Last year’s Asia Cup saw India’s refusal to travel, resulting in a hybrid model, with Sri Lanka co-hosting all India games and the final.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that any decision about traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy will be made after their government’s approval.

However, there’s a glimmer of hope. Pakistan traveled to India in 2023 for the ODI World Cup after receiving government clearance, suggesting that India might do the same for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

It’s worth noting that India last played in Pakistan in 2008, losing the Asia Cup final by 100 runs to Sri Lanka in Karachi.
