Everything New in ‘The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’ as it Launches on PC, PS5 and Xbox

Almost two decades since its initial release, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has come back.  Bethesda’s surprise release of Oblivion Remastered has set off a tidal wave of nostalgia and anticipation, as old and new players alike return to the imperial province of Cyrodiil, now enveloped in a breathtaking Unreal Engine 5 makeover.

Out now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S—with day-one release for Game Pass subscribers—the remaster delivers on everything fans could’ve wished for. In contrast to a remake, Bethesda and co-developer Virtuos remained faithful to the original 2006 experience, instead deciding to hone rather than reimagine. The outcome is a version of Oblivion that looks just as you remember it—this time, however, your visuals are as good as the memory.

Visual Upgrades with Unreal Power

Visually, the makeover is stunning. These forests are full and bright, glowing doors to the Daedric planes, and intricate character models now feature advanced lighting, atmospheric effects, and polished animations. Interiors and dungeons now have a gravity of their own with dynamic shadows, and the towns are more vibrant, with new textures and more emotive NPCs.

Gameplay that Respects the Past, Embraces the Present

Gameplay has benefited from careful improvements as well. The inclusion of a sprint mechanic, redone third-person controls, and completely reworked combat animations ensures the game no longer feels dated. UI is cleaner, the levelling system is refined, and character customisation has been redesigned without diluting the original RPG’s charm.

The remaster also includes Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, and all the DLC previously released. The new $59.99 Deluxe Edition comes with additional side quests, a digital artbook, and the remastered soundtrack—a fair price for loyal fans.

Voices that Bring Tamriel to Life

Perhaps most impressively, Bethesda has replaced the voice acting with more varied performances, assigning a unique vocal character to each playable race and retaining much of the original cast. It’s a small change that makes all the difference in immersion.

Whether you’re reliving old adventures or stepping into Tamriel for the first time, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered proves that a well-loved classic can thrive in the modern gaming era without losing its soul. It’s not just a return to a game—it’s a return to wonder.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem Denies Neeraj Chopra’s Invite to India

Source: FirstPost

Pakistan’s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem has formally declined an invitation to compete in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, a big-ticket one-day athletics meet that will be held in Bengaluru on May 24. Though the reason for the rejection was cited largely on grounds of clash of schedules, it also comes in the context of heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan following a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Scheduling Conflicts and Prior Commitments

Arshad clarified that his withdrawal was due to his existing training commitments and his upcoming participation in the Asian Athletics Championships in Korea. “The Classic event is on May 24, but I’m scheduled to depart for Korea on May 22,” Nadeem explained, emphasising that the clash was unavoidable. He is currently busy getting ready for the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo in September and is set to go back to his training headquarters in Pakistan shortly.

While Nadeem insisted his move was sporting in nature, the affair is clouded by political undertones. The Pahalgam terror strike has set the diplomatic tensions between the two countries abuzz, and sources indicate that this might have played on Nadeem’s mind. His involvement would have needed approval from the Pakistan government, and there were fears the heightened tensions would delay or invalidate his travel permits—or even worse, have his invite withdrawn by Indian authorities.

A Lost Moment for Sporting Fellowship

Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem are rare sporting buddies that have braved geopolitical hostilities. Budapest to Paris, they have given away medals and reciprocated each other with respect. During the previous World Athletics Championship, Neeraj secured gold, whereas Arshad secured silver. In the history-altering reverse at the Paris Olympics, Arshad bagged gold in an Olympic record, and then Neeraj bagged silver. Their competition has always been grace and mutual respect-filled—thus making this lack all the more poignant.

Looking Ahead

While Arshad Nadeem’s non-appearance will be missed at the Neeraj Chopra Classic, supporters across borders can only hope this is a one-off decision. With the world watching the World Championships and looking ahead to athletics, there is hope that sporting spirit will conquer political shadows—and that Arshad and Neeraj will reunite again on the track, where they belong.

India Suspends Indus Water Treaty? What Does this Mean for Pakistan?

India Suspends Indus Water Treaty? What Does This Mean For Pakistan
India Suspends Indus Water Treaty? What Does This Mean For Pakistan

India and Pakistan were never on good terms. Tensions were always present, yet for the past six decades, both nations have cooperatively managed the Indus Water Treaty (a vital resource for both nations). But now, post-Kashmir attack on April 22, India has done the unthinkable.

Signed in 1960, the treaty not only divided the waters of the Indus basin between the two countries but, more remarkably, outlasted multiple wars, terror attacks, and nuclear brinkmanship. It was a miracle of diplomacy.

That miracle may now be over.

In the wake of a horrifying terrorist attack in Kashmir that killed 26 people (25 of them Indian tourists), India has suspended its participation in the treaty. The reason given is: a response to terrorism, a symbolic break from decades of restraint. But the implications go well beyond symbolism. The consequences could be devastating—for Pakistan, for India, and for the entire region.

India Pakistan Tension
India-Pakistan Tension

Water Should Never be a Weapon

Water is not just a resource, it is the foundation of life! It irrigates crops, fuels power grids, and sustains entire ecosystems. In Pakistan, where the Indus River system feeds nearly all of the country’s agriculture, the treaty’s suspension has sparked understandable alarm. But this is not just about Pakistan.

India also relies on the balance that the treaty has maintained. Disrupting that equilibrium risks cascading consequences: diplomatic fallout, economic uncertainty, environmental instability. It also introduces a dangerous precedent into global geopolitics. One where water becomes just another tool in the arsenal of retaliation.

The decision to suspend the treaty doesn’t just harm the other side; it threatens the stability and credibility of the entire region. It says that even sacred agreements can be cast aside in moments of rage or grief.

Beyond Blame: A Shared Responsibility

It is tempting in times of tragedy to look for villains. But diplomacy demands more than blame. It demands perspective.

Yes, the attack in Kashmir was horrific. The loss of innocent life is always a tragedy, and outrage is justified. But Pakistan is not a monolith. We are a nation of over 240 million people, the vast majority of whom want peace and prosperity, just like their neighbours. Pointing fingers at an entire country, or allowing tragedy to justify sweeping retaliation, leads us down a road of perpetual hostility.

Beyond Blame: A Shared Responsibility
Beyond Blame: A Shared Responsibility

This region, which is so rich in culture, history, and human potential, deserves better than endless cycles of accusation and reprisal. The suspension of the treaty is not just a political manoeuvre; it’s a retreat from the principles of coexistence that the treaty itself embodied.

What’s at Stake isn’t Just Water

The Indus Waters Treaty was about more than river allocations; it was about trust- about believing that even in the darkest moments, dialogue and cooperation could prevail.

If that trust breaks down, what comes next? Will other treaties and agreements fall under a similar threat? If water, the most essential and non-negotiable of shared resources, becomes politicised, what hope is there for more complex issues like trade, migration, or climate change?

We cannot afford to normalise this kind of brinkmanship, not when the costs are measured not in political capital, but in crops lost, homes flooded, and futures dimmed.

A Call for Peace and Unity

India is a regional leader. With that role comes the responsibility to lead with foresight, not just force. The suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty may satisfy immediate political impulses, but it undermines the very architecture of peace that has taken generations to build. Now, more than ever, both India and Pakistan must find the courage to turn back to the table—not walk away from it.

Water must flow freely, not just through rivers, but through channels of communication and understanding. If there’s ever been a moment for diplomacy to prove its worth, it’s now.

Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi: What to Expect from Today’s Match?

Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi_ What to Expect from Today’s Match__

As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 reaches its peak, Match 14, Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi, will be a showdown between two franchises with contrasting vibes: the fighting Lahore Qalandars and desperate Peshawar Zalmi. Under the lights at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, this encounter holds the promise of high-intensity cricket and a bit of solo fireworks.

Qalandars: Coming Back with Firepower

Now ranked third on the points table with 2 victories in 4, the Qalandars are reeling from their recent defeat against Multan Sultans, in which they came up short chasing 229 despite courageous performances by Fakhar Zaman and Sikandar Raza. Fakhar is Lahore’s most reliable batter with 176 runs thus far, including blistering starts that set solid platforms. With Rishad Hossain leading the bowling charts for them with 8 wickets, Lahore look balanced despite a few stutters.

Source: Outlook

This match becomes even more crucial for captain Shaheen Afridi’s side to reassert dominance and cement a top-three position. Given their net run rate of 1.095 and the strong home crowd support, Qalandars are tipped as slight favourites.

Zalmi: Talent Present, Execution Missing

At the other end are Peshawar Zalmi, who are in troubled waters. They have only one win in four and are placed fifth, and they require a revival. Captain Babar Azam’s anchor style (46 off 41 in the previous match) has come under fire, particularly when quicker scoring is required. In contrast, Mohammad Haris has been their bright spot with 173 runs at an explosive strike rate of 178.35.

Bowling remains a concern, though Ali Raza has impressed with 7 wickets. But as seen in their loss to Karachi Kings, the inability to defend or chase middling totals is haunting them. Their negative net run rate of -0.844 only adds to the pressure.

Key Players to Watch

Fakhar Zaman (LQ): The man in form, expected to go big again.

Hussain Talat (PZ): Could be Zalmi’s X-factor in the middle overs.

Asif Afridi (LQ): Could flip the game with his left-arm spin.

Luke Wood (PZ): Requires early wickets to cut Lahore’s charge.

Prediction: Lahore Qalandars are favoured with improved form and momentum. But if the top order of Zalmi fires, this match could be decided in the last over.

Likely Outcome: Lahore Qalandars to win — but with a twist.

Is a Wave of Food Insecurity About to Hit Pakistan?

Is a Wave of Food Insecurity About to Hit Pakistan?
Is a Wave of Food Insecurity About to Hit Pakistan?

Experts state that Pakistan is about to face significant challenges that will cause food insecurity in 2025. Although the country produces a substantial amount of food, consistently meeting the needs of its growing population—over 240 million—has become increasingly difficult. Some indicators point to even greater risks in the future.

Is a Wave of Food Insecurity About to Hit Pakistan?
Is a Wave of Food Insecurity About to Hit Pakistan?

Existing Vulnerabilities

Recent analysis indicates ongoing issues. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) offers a snapshot of late 2024 to mid-2025. It forecast severe issues even before recent happenings. Approximately 10 million individuals in poor rural regions probably experienced extreme acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 Crisis or worse) from April to July 2025. This represents roughly 20% of the population under study within those districts. Such conditions make individuals unable to obtain sufficient food. This difficulty results in malnutrition or drives households into desperate survival strategies.

Economic Pressures and Inflation

Economic uncertainty and inflation are the main issues. Overall food inflation fell from its 2023-24 highs. Still, most staple foods remain significantly more expensive than they were. Prices of farm inputs such as fuel and fertiliser, and transport costs, tighten farmers’ pockets. These prices also increase consumer prices. This particularly affects poor households. Reports indicate that almost 40% of Pakistanis are living in poverty, leaving them extremely exposed to increased food prices.

Climate Change Impacts

Climate change introduces immense risk. Pakistan is among the world’s most climate-risk countries. The devastating 2022 floods were an open warning. Increased heat waves, droughts, and unstable monsoons disturb farming on a regular basis. Specialists say climate change might reduce farm production by 30-50% without huge adaptation. This directly impacts food supply and prices. Water shortage also jeopardises agriculture. Climate change and possible Indus water problems exacerbate this shortage. Agriculture in Pakistan depends greatly on the Indus basin for irrigation.

Outlook and Opinion

Pakistan has demonstrated resilience in the past. However, the present combination of factors is concerning. Climate risk, economic issues (notably dependence on costly food imports), population expansion, and probable water scarcity produce a perilous combination. Unless vigorous action is taken to address climate-smart agriculture, improved water management, food price stability, and social protection, aggravated food insecurity is likely for the majority of Pakistanis.

Atari Border Shut: Impact on India-Pakistan Trade

Atari Border Shut: Impact on India-Pakistan Trade
Atari Border Shut: Impact on India-Pakistan Trade

The Atari border has long been more than just a line on the map—it’s been a lifeline for trade, travel, and ties between India and Pakistan. However, after the Phalagam Attack on April 22, India has shut the border, raising political tension between the two countries.

Atari Border Shut: Impact on India-Pakistan Trade
Atari Border Shut: Impact on India-Pakistan Trade

A Key Historical Trade Route

Trade levels via Atari-Wagah have always changed with the political situation. The route served as an important path for goods. Pakistan exported items like cement and dates to India. India sent goods like tomatoes and cotton to Pakistan. This route was useful when sea transport cost more or took longer. Officials developed the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Atari to simplify this trade. It handled customs, immigration, and cargo. However, restrictive policies and political tensions often limited trade volumes. For example, trade dropped sharply after the 2019 Pulwama attack. Following that event, Pakistan suspended bilateral trade, and India withdrew Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status.

Impact of the 2025 Closure

The complete closure stops all remaining official land trade between the countries. Official trade was already low compared to its potential. Still, the closure removes a potentially important economic connection. It primarily affects traders and businesses on both sides. Those who used this route for specific goods now face problems. They might need to reroute goods through more costly sea routes or via other countries. This will likely raise their expenses.

Beyond Formal Trade

The closure also severely affects informal trade and personal travel. Families living across the border face difficulties. Pilgrims visiting shrines (outside specific corridors like Kartarpur) are impacted. Travellers using cross-border bus or train services cannot use this route. The shutdown disrupts jobs related to border logistics and transport. Symbolically, closing this major border crossing highlights the deep freeze in relations. It marks a shift beyond trade limits towards nearly cutting off land connections. This signals a serious escalation in diplomatic tensions.

A Treaty that Withstood 3 Wars: What is the Indus Waters Treaty?

A Treaty that Withstood 3 Wars: What is the Indus Waters Treaty?
A Treaty that Withstood 3 Wars: What is the Indus Waters Treaty?

The Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) has represented a significant achievement in cooperation between India and Pakistan for over 60 years. Now that India has suspended the treaty in response to the Pahalgam attack, let’s explore the history of this treaty, its significance, and the recent dramatic changes.

A Landmark Agreement

Signed in 1960 with World Bank mediation, the IWT carefully divided the Indus Basin’s six rivers. India gained control over the three eastern rivers: Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej. Pakistan received control over the three western rivers: Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab. However, India retained limited rights for non-consumptive uses, like specific hydropower projects, on the western rivers.

Decades of Endurance

The treaty’s strength became legendary. It remarkably survived major conflicts between the nations, including the wars of 1965, 1971, and 1999. Disputes certainly arose. Conflicts often centred on Indian hydropower projects on the western rivers, such as Baglihar and Kishanganga. Yet, the IWT provided mechanisms to resolve these issues. These included the Permanent Indus Commission, neutral experts, and courts of arbitration. Despite frequent political tensions, this water-sharing framework endured, providing vital stability for water management, particularly for downstream Pakistan. Pakistan heavily relies on the Indus system for over 80% of its agricultural irrigation.

The 2025 Suspension: An Unprecedented Step

This long history of resilience faced an unprecedented challenge in late April 2025. India’s Cabinet Committee on Security announced the immediate suspension of the IWT. India cited a deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, as the reason, attributing it to cross-border elements. New Delhi declared the treaty would remain “in abeyance.” This status would continue until Pakistan takes “credible and irrevocable” steps against cross-border terrorism.

Implications of the Suspension

This action marks the first time the Indus Waters Treaty operations have halted since 1960. The treaty itself lacks clauses for unilateral suspension or termination. India’s move effectively pauses its treaty obligations, like sharing data or cooperating on projects. While India cannot physically stop the western rivers’ flow into Pakistan immediately without new, large-scale infrastructure, the suspension represents a major policy change. It creates deep uncertainty around a critical water-sharing agreement and could significantly impact regional stability and water security for millions.

Ali Tareen Hints At Rebidding For Multan Sultans After PSL 10

Ali Tareen Hints At Rebidding For Multan Sultans After PSL 10
Ali Tareen Hints At Rebidding For Multan Sultans After PSL 10

Ali Tareen, the passionate owner of Multan Sultans, has made it clear: he’s open to rebidding for the team after PSL 10, but not at the cost of a financial loss. And honestly, who can blame him?

While speaking to reporters at Multan Cricket Stadium, Tareen explained his current dilemma. Yes, he has the option to renew the franchise contract at a 25% higher price, but here’s the catch — that model, he says, is simply not sustainable.

“We do have the option to renew our contract with a 25 percent increase on the current price. But at that price, we are operating at a loss,” said Tareen.

“My plan is to exercise our right to exit the current agreement and rebid for the team — hopefully at a more realistic valuation, similar to Karachi Kings’ $26 million deal over ten years,” he added.

And he’s not just throwing numbers around. He backed it up with facts from the past.

Ali Tareen reminded everyone that the original owners of the Sultans pulled out after just two years — simply because they couldn’t handle the losses. That opened the door for him to step in.

Read More: Tanvir Ahmed Sparks Firestorm, Calls IPL the “Biggest Platform for Fixing”

“The previous owners left because they could not bear the losses beyond two years. That gave us the opportunity to step in. If they had not faced such setbacks, we would not be here today,” he noted.

So while his bond with the team is strong, Tareen isn’t willing to let sentiment override sound business sense.

Tareen says his team is already prepared to rebid for the franchise if needed. They know the ins and outs of running the show and are aware of the profit-loss margins.

“We already know what it takes — how much profit and loss is incurred. We are ready for it. Our contract even includes the right to walk away if we do not agree with the new valuation,” he said, firmly.

While the ownership saga brews in the background, the Multan Sultans’ PSL 10 campaign hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing either. With just one win in four games, they’re currently at the bottom of the table.

Tanvir Ahmed Sparks Firestorm, Calls IPL the “Biggest Platform for Fixing”

tanvir-ahmed-calls-ipl-the-biggest-platform-for-fixing

Just when you thought the drama in IPL 2025 couldn’t get any wilder, Tanvir Ahmed decided to pour kerosene on the flames.

The former Pakistan Test pacer took to social media on Wednesday and dropped a bombshell, branding the Indian Premier League as the “biggest platform for match-fixing.”

What Triggered the Outburst?

It all started after Rajasthan Royals’ two-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants in Match 36. Chasing 181, the Royals seemed to have the game in their pocket—until they didn’t. A shocking collapse in the final overs left fans scratching their heads and critics raising eyebrows.

Not surprisingly, whispers of something fishy started floating around.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tanvir Ahmed didn’t hold back:

“The BCCI proudly claims IPL is the biggest cricket league in the world. Yes, it is — but it’s also the biggest platform for fixing. Most teams are in the hands of fixers.”

Now that’s not the kind of statement you make casually. And it didn’t go unnoticed.

The Backstory: Where’s All This Coming From?

Interestingly, Tanvir’s claims follow a stir created by Jaideep Bihani, the Convenor of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

Bihani questioned how a professional team—like Rajasthan Royals—could fail to score just nine runs in the final over twice in back-to-back matches. First against Delhi Capitals, and now against LSG.

Read More: Shoaib Malik Shuts Down the Critics, Justifies His Role As Player

The Royals didn’t take these allegations lightly. They’ve flatly denied any wrongdoing and called the accusations: “False, baseless, and completely unfounded.”

Not stopping there, the franchise has formally written to the Rajasthan government and the State Sports Council. They’ve demanded action against Bihani, accusing him of spreading defamatory and reckless statements.

So far, no official word from either the BCCI or the RCA. The silence is deafening, especially given how serious the accusations are.

But here’s the thing—this isn’t the first time IPL has been dragged into the fixing conversation. And every time, it leaves a bitter taste.

Stay tuned to Brandsynario for the latest news and updates.

Shoaib Malik Shuts Down the Critics, Justifies His Role As Player

Shoaib Malik Shuts Down the Critics, Justifies His Role As Player
Shoaib Malik Shuts Down the Critics, Justifies His Role As Player

Shoaib Malik isn’t ready to pack his bags just yet—and he’s not afraid to say it out loud. At 43 years old, Malik continues to walk the fine line between player and mentor in PSL 10, proudly representing the Quetta Gladiators.

And while some fans have been quick to question his place in the squad, the veteran all-rounder just served up a sharp reminder: he’s earned it.

“I’m Playing Because I Can”

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Malik directly addressed the growing criticism surrounding his role.

“People often question why I’m still playing, but no one asks about those sitting outside the PSL entirely.”

Malik made it clear that he’s not occupying a spot just for nostalgia. His fitness, form, and mindset, he insists, are still at a professional level.

“I am still in good shape and can contribute positively on the field,” he said with confidence.

A Mentor Who Can Still Perform

Yes, Malik is officially one of PCB’s mentors—and no, that doesn’t mean he’s done playing. In fact, his contract allows him to play, and he’s using every opportunity to prove that age is just a number.

“I always try to fulfil my responsibilities as a mentor when needed,” he explained. “But the think tank decides who plays. Our job is to perform when given the chance.”

He’s not trying to take away spots from younger players—he’s trying to set an example for them.

The Bigger Picture: PSL Needs to Evolve

But Shoaib Malik wasn’t just defending himself. He used the opportunity to talk about something bigger: the future of the PSL.

Now that the league has completed its first decade, Malik believes it’s time for serious reflection.

“This is the right time for the chairman and all stakeholders to sit together and evaluate how we can take the league to the next level,” he suggested.

And he’s right. Ten years in, the PSL has built a solid reputation—but there’s still room to grow. Malik wants the league to be more competitive, more player-focused, and more rewarding for both fans and players.

India To Close Main Border Crossing With Pakistan After Kashmir Attack

India To Close Main Border Crossing With Pakistan After Kashmir Attack
India To Close Main Border Crossing With Pakistan After Kashmir Attack

A day after gunmen killed 26 people at a Himalayan tourist attraction in Indian-administered Kashmir, India has announced measures against Pakistan, as it blames the country for the Kashmir attack. These include the closure of the main border crossing linking the two countries, the suspension of a landmark water-sharing treaty, the expulsion of diplomats and an order for some Pakistani visa holders to leave within 48 hours.

According to a statement made by Pakistan’s foreign minister, officials from the country are scheduled to meet on Thursday to come up with a response. Pakistan has denied being involved in the attack.

The attack in Pahalgam was one of the deadliest in recent memory for the restive region, and is threatening to aggravate already icy bilateral ties. Both India and Pakistan claim Kashmir in its entirety, but they only control a portion of it. Since India’s partition and the creation of Pakistan in 1947, the nuclear-armed neighbours have fought wars over the territory.

Indian Government Response

The Indian government has responded furiously to the attack and has signalled it holds Pakistan indirectly responsible. India has long accused successive Islamabad governments of providing support to armed groups in the region. Pakistan strongly refutes this accusation. “Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a post on X.. “Our unwavering determination to defeat terrorism will only grow.”

Additionally, India has stated that it would revoke the Indus Water Treaty, which has been in effect since 1960 and has survived decades of hostile diplomacy. The treaty gives India control over the eastern rivers, and Pakistan the western ones, of the Indus River and its tributaries. The agreement stipulates that India must, with few exceptions, allow water from the western rivers to flow downstream into Pakistan.

Indian security agencies believe the attack was carried out by a group known as the Kashmir Resistance. A manhunt for the gunmen responsible was continuing on Wednesday evening.

Pakistan’s Reaction

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, the Pakistani foreign ministry said it was “concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives” and expressed condolences. The statement stated that additional diplomatic expulsions were planned for the following week as part of the measures that India announced on Wednesday. The measures instructed Pakistani military advisers based at the Delhi embassy to leave immediately.

The Pahalgam attack risks reigniting long-running tensions between the nuclear-armed rivals. Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also signalled India’s response would go beyond targeting the perpetrators. He stated, “We will not only reach those who have perpetrated this incident but also those who have conspired to commit such acts on the soil of India from behind the scenes.” The attack has been widely condemned by international leaders and has generated outrage and mourning in India.

Holidaymakers, including entire families, fled for their lives, according to eyewitnesses. While some witnesses have described the shooting as random, others have suggested that the gunmen appeared to be targeting non-Muslims. The majority of the victims were Hindu men, but there was also a local Muslim victim. “We cannot get over the fact that such an incident has occurred, and that too in the place we call heaven on earth,” Akib Chaya, a hotel owner and a member of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce.

India Suspends Indus Waters Treaty After Kashmir Attack

India suspends the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan after 26 tourists were killed and 17 injured in a shooting in Pahalgam, a tourist destination in occupied Kashmir. The attack happened on Tuesday and is the deadliest in the region since 2000. Police confirmed all deceased were men, mostly from across India and one from Nepal. AFP cited a hospital list confirmed by police, calling it the worst attack on civilians in the region since 2000.

Following the attack, India announced several measures. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met and reviewed the situation. He said, “In the briefing to the CCS, the cross-border linkages of the terrorist attack were brought out. It was noted that this attack came in the wake of the successful holding of the elections in the union territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development. Recognising the seriousness of this terrorist attack, the CCS decided upon the following measures: the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 will be held in abeyance with immediate effect until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism.”

India also closed the Attari border post immediately. Pakistani nationals under the Saarc Visa Exemption Scheme were ordered to leave India within 48 hours. Others must leave by May 1, 2025. Indian authorities also announced that defence personnel at the Pakistani High Commission must leave within a week. Staff in both high commissions will be reduced.

We extend our condolences to the near ones of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery.” Defence Minister Khawaja Asif denied Pakistan’s involvement.

The Attari-Wagah border ritual, ongoing since 1959, now stands suspended. Trump assured Modi of full support while China and others condemned the attack. India launched a search operation and claimed to have killed two people in an infiltration attempt.

SRK and Kajol as Siblings? Director Mansoor Khan Reveals Josh Casting Twist You Didn’t Know

SRK and Kajol as Siblings_ Director Mansoor Khan Reveals Josh Casting Twist You Didn't Know
SRK and Kajol as Siblings_ Director Mansoor Khan Reveals Josh Casting Twist You Didn't Know

Bollywood has had its share of “what could have been” casting stories, but few are as jaw-dropping as this one. Director Mansoor Khan, in a recent revelation, confirmed that Kajol was originally approached to play Shah Rukh Khan’s sister in the 2000 film Josh. Yes, SRK and Kajol as siblings. It’s a casting twist that makes you sit up and go: “Wait, what?!”

Kajol as Shirley

In the history of Bollywood, SRK and Kajol are arguably the most iconic romantic pair. Back-to-back pairing in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, they were known as the OG couple. We are all victims of once thinking they were married in real life too. That is how good their chemistry was. And still is!

So, to imagine them playing twins? Siblings? It’s a cinematic crime.

However, during a recent interview, Mansoor Khan admitted that Kajol was his first choice to play Shirley in the movie Josh. But Kajol wasn’t convinced. Mansoor even revealed that Kajol was taken aback. “I narrated the script to Kajol because I wanted her to play the sister, after DDLJ, Baazigar, Karan Arjun and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This is the ultimate sacrilege. After she heard the story idea, she got up to go out of my house. I asked her if she would do the film. She said no. She also wanted to play Max because it was such a charismatic character,” he revealed.

A Blessing in Disguise

Kajol’s departure from the film left the director scrambling, but perhaps all this was for the better.

Enter Aishwarya Rai, who ultimately took on the role of Shirley. At the time, it was a bold move. Casting Aishwarya was risky, especially because at that time she was still solidifying her position in Bollywood. Casting her alongside SRK had the chance of always being considered for sisterly roles.

Thankfully, that never happened, and soon after, we got the two sharing a romantic screen space in the blockbuster movie Mohabbatein.

Director Mansoor Khan also praised Aishwarya and said, “Aishwarya was very professional. She accepted the role without any hesitation. I think Josh is one of her best films.”

What If? The Kajol-SRK Sibling Timeline

Imagine this: Kajol as SRK’s twin sister in Josh, right after romancing with him on screen multiple times. The audience wouldn’t have digested this one.

Also, it’s not just about character suitability but about legacy, too.

Would their romantic image have survived playing siblings on screen? Would audiences have embraced that shift? Probably not. In this rare instance, the audience’s deep emotional investment in a fictional pairing might have limited the creative potential of the actors.

A Chain Reaction of Casting Shakeups

The casting shakeup didn’t end with Kajol. Mansoor Khan also considered Aamir Khan for the role of Rahul, Shirley’s love interest. However, there was a major casting mix up here and Amir accidentally misunderstood his role. The actor thought he was being cast for Max (the role already signed by SRK). Once Amir got to know this wasn’t the case, he backed out of the project.

In the end, SRK and Aishwarya Rai carried Josh to solid commercial success, and their platonic chemistry as siblings remains one of the film’s defining strengths.

Everything Happens for a Reason

This reveal isn’t just a fun twist. It’s also a reminder of how thin the line is between iconic and awkward.

Kajol saying no to Josh may have preserved one of Bollywood’s most beloved romantic duos. And Aishwarya’s turn as Shirley? It added a new, refreshing chapter to her filmography and to the sibling dynamics in Hindi cinema.

Millions in Hajj Funds Sent to Wrong Account

Millions in Hajj Funds Sent to Wrong Account
Millions in Hajj Funds Sent to Wrong Account

Around 67,000 Pakistanis may miss Hajj this year because Hajj funds were sent to the wrong account, a National Assembly committee was told on Wednesday. Several private Hajj Group Organisers (HGOs) failed to meet the Saudi deadline for submitting pilgrim details and payments due to a fund transfer error.

Members of the Hajj Organisers Association of Pakistan (HOAP) said 50 million Saudi riyals were wrongly deposited into an OPEC account. It took 28 days to recover the money, causing delays that prevented many pilgrims from being registered in time.

Secretary of Religious Affairs Dr. Atta ur Rehman explained that under new Saudi rules, only HGOs with more than 2,000 pilgrims are allowed to operate. Because of this, 904 smaller organisers were merged into 45 clusters. While 13,620 pilgrims who paid on time were accepted, the Saudi portal was only briefly reopened to accept 10,000 more. After that, no new entries were allowed. Some HGOs failed to transfer money in time due to a $300,000 limit on transactions.

Officials Questioned Over Mishandling

The committee asked tough questions about how the funds were sent to the wrong place. Chairman Malik Amir Dogar demanded a full explanation. DG Hajj Makkah Abdul Wahab admitted that a change in ministry instructions led to confusion about where to send the money.

He said the deadline passed while funds were still being processed. HOAP insisted there was still space for Pakistani pilgrims in Mina, but DG Wahab said he wasn’t aware of any open plots.

Many of the affected pilgrims may not be able to go this year. The Hajj funds sent to the wrong account have caused major problems, and officials now say refunds will only be possible for money transferred through the proper channels.

Some funds spent on accommodation and transport might not be recoverable. The committee has asked for a full breakdown of where the money is currently held.

Pakistan Begins Selection for First-Ever Manned Space Mission

Pakistan has started the selection process for its first-ever manned space mission, which is expected to take place aboard China’s Tiangong Space Station. This was confirmed on Wednesday by a spokesperson for the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

In February, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Pakistan’s plan to send a manned mission to space in partnership with China. Following this, earlier in April, Pakistan’s space agency Suparco invited proposals for innovative scientific experiments to be carried out aboard the Chinese space station. The aim is to maximise the scientific outcomes of this historic mission.

China’s space programme has seen rapid growth in recent years, achieving major milestones including the construction of the Tiangong space station and successful lunar sample-return missions.

Speaking to APP, CMSA spokesperson Lin Xiqiang explained that the selection of Pakistani astronauts would be done in three stages. The first stage will be held in Pakistan. The second and final stages will take place in China.

A Step Toward Developing the Space Technology Sector

Lin said, “The astronaut will be responsible for [conducting] scientific experiments on the behalf of Pakistan.” He also confirmed that the selected astronaut would join a joint space flight mission as a payload specialist.

On Tuesday, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing the space technology sector. He said, “Pakistan is giving utmost importance to the space technology sector,” and added that China is the country’s “most reliable and strategic partner.” He made these remarks while speaking to a delegation from Galaxy Space, a Chinese space technology company.

Two Pakistani astronauts will be selected and trained at the Astronaut Centre of China. This will make Pakistan the first foreign country to participate in China’s space station training programme. The entire selection process is expected to be completed by 2026.

Who’s Behind the Deadly Kashmir Attack? 26 Lives Lost in Pahalgam Horror

Who’s Behind the Deadly Kashmir Attack? 26 Lives Lost in Pahalgam Horror
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a mass manhunt. Soldiers were deployed to man important checkpoints.

Indian officials have stepped up their hunt for gunmen after a vicious attack in Pahalgam, in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir attack. The attack killed 26 men and is one of the deadliest in the region in recent years.

Security Forces Mobilise to Track Down Attackers

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a mass manhunt. Soldiers were deployed to man important checkpoints, patrol weakly guarded routes, and carry out searches in nearby forests. The officials suspect the assailants took advantage of the landscape to make their escape.

Prime Minister Modi Condemns the Attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortened his official trip to Saudi Arabia to head back home and tackle the crisis. In a public address, he decried the attack as a “heinous act” and reassured the country that the perpetrators “will be brought to justice.”

Kashmir Resistance Group Claims Responsibility

A relatively unknown militant organisation, Kashmir Resistance, took responsibility on a social media page. According to the organisation, the attack was a response to the increasing settlement of more than 85,000 “outsiders” in the valley. They claimed that this was an intentional act to change the demography of Kashmir.

Public Mourning and Candlelight Vigils

Across the region, citizens have organised candlelight vigils in honour of the victims. In towns and big cities, mourners congregated to express solidarity with the bereaved families. Protesters also took to the streets, calling for transparency and accountability by the authorities.

Heightened Tensions in the Region

The incident has once again tensed up the already volatile situation in Kashmir. Political activists and politicians are saying that unabated violence could derail initiatives towards peace in the region. A lot of voices have been demanding that the Indian government reconsider its strategy towards security and regional integration.

International Community Watches Closely

As the international spotlight shifted to Kashmir again, global commentators and human rights groups called for restraint and accountability. The horrific assault and what this means for the stability of the region have already raised the hackles of several foreign capitals.
