Here’s How NADRA Will Expose Your Husband If He’s Cheating

NADRA has finally come up with a feature that’s going to keep Pakistani men in check and their wives at peace. This new feature has the ability to expose hidden marriages in your family. So if there’s anyone you have doubts on… keep reading!

The Qaumi Tasdeeq-o-Tajdeed Campaign

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a ‘Qaumi Tasdeeq-o-Tajdeed Campaign’. It is a new system made for the verification of family members. Through this mechanism, all family members will have transparency.

How To Find Out

To find out if someone in your family or your own dear husband is married more than once, here’s what you need to do. Text his CNIC number and its date of issuance to 8009. This system of verification allows you to verify your family members. All you have to do is send their 13 digit CNIC number. However, there’s a catch. The message must be sent from their own registered number.

In short, a whole plan is going to have to be made to ensure you get your answers while they remain none the wiser.

How To Text

The format for texting is this: <13 digits CNIC No> Space <Issue Date>

Once you have sent the message in the correct format from the registered number, you will receive details of the family members. If you accidentally added something wrong, tap 1 to reform your mistake. A representative of NADRA will proceed to contact you from its helpline 051-2778009. However, if the information is correct, then reply with ‘2’ to confirm it and get the answers.

This Was Badly Needed

This was desperately needed in Pakistani society. It is the norm that men often have more than 1 wife. Aside from the one the public knows of, they keep the others, hidden. Women rarely find out and once they do, it is indeed too late to do anything. But now, you can easily find out whether your husband has been committing infidelity all this time or not.

Moreover, it is also the case that many children start investigating their parents. The investigations often confirm their doubts about having half-siblings. This will ensure that if anyone is legally Nikkah-fied, they can be exposed.

Female Pakistani Squash Player Sets Record, Donates More Than 6 Feet Of Hair

Pakistanis are making us proud regardless of which corner of the world they’re residing in. One such Pakistani woman, Zahab Kamal Khan, just set a Guinness record and that too for charity. Could there be something better? We doubt it!

Zahab Kamal Khan – Who Is She?

Zahab Kamal Khan is a Pakistani immigrant in Northern Virginia. However, there’s more to her than her nationalities. She used to play professional squash in Pakistan. She’s 30 years old and she just had her first haircut in 17 years.

She shifted to Virginia with her family almost a decade ago. Now, she’s making news headlines for something other than squash and you’re going to be shocked.

First Haircut In 17 Years

Zahab Kamal Khan said that when she was 13-years-old, her father suggested to her something. He said, perhaps she should stop cutting her hair and grow them out. Maybe she’ll be able to set a world record then! And a world record she did set indeed.

Zahab Kamal Khan had not cut her hair in 17 years. And incredibly enough, the Pakistani luscious hair genes came through. Her hair kept growing all these years and it was nowadays that she said goodbye to them. Her first chop in 17 years earned her a Guinness World Record title for ‘Most Hair Donated to a Charity By An Individual’.

Where Did The Hair Go?

This real-life Rapunzel donated 6 feet and 3 inches of hair for this haircut. It was broadcasted since this haircut alone set a Guinness world record. This chunk of hair will go to an organisation that makes wigs for children with hair loss due to cancer. There are many such organisations at work abroad though not many in Pakistan.

She said to the media, “I’m kind of nervous and excited to see my short hair, but I’m going to miss my hair.”

Initiating This in Pakistan

A Pakistanis, those children or elders in our society who suffer from diseases that hair loss could really benefit from the initiation of such organisations in Pakistan. Internationally, most parlours have a collaboration with such organisations. Every individual who gets their hair cut can have the option of donating their hour! Provided that hundreds of people get their hair cut in a day, imagine the number of people one can make happy!

Here’s to women like Zahab Kamal Khan who give up haircuts to make a record for charity. May she make more Guinness world records!

Operations To Rescue Stuck Seaview Ship Suspended Until September 8

Stuck seaview ship

[Update: 27th August 2021]: In the recent update regarding the stuck Seaview ship, the ship was almost refloated twice. In the first attempt that happened on Tuesday this week, the ship was floated for almost 350 meters. Once the rescue team started rejoicing, the ship returned to the beach and got stuck to an all-new part.

In the week’s second attempt, the ship was brought out into the sea for almost 150 meters. But the ropes that were tied to it, three of them snapped, and the floatation team lost control. The ship returned to its position.

It has now been announced that all the rescue operations for the ship will be ceased until September 8th. This is because the low tide is working against any rescue operations.

It is expected that in September the weather will change in favour. Up until then, the ship will probably stay as the hangout place for Pakistanis visiting the beach.

[July 29th, 2021]: While social media is a great way to stay up-to-date with information, at times, it leaves you speechless because of how the information gets modified and reused. In the past few days, you must have come across a photo, a video, or a news article about the ship stuck on Seaview, Karachi. People have even posed with the ship!

Ship Stuck on Seaview

Now, such a large ship being stranded on the beach is already dangerous but the Hong Kong based cargo ship ”MV Heng Tong 77” is even more dangerous because it has tonnes of oil in it. Moreover, if the oil were to spill, it would taint all of the beach as well as seep underground and into the water table. Not only that, but it would also mix with the water; killing the already lessening marine life.

Ad for sale

Seeing the silver lining in this grave situation is something a Pakistani can do easily. One Pakistani put the picture of the ship on OLX and Facebook with a price tag –  just like you would to sell a car.

Detailing the ship

Let’s get down to the ship specifications!

  • 100,000 cc
  • Running: 65,000 nautical mile
  • minor used by foreigners
  • smells a little bit
  • engine weak
  • AC working
  • Price: PKR 9,999,999

The cargo ship is also loaded with containers so the seller put that up as a plus point. He priced it at one rupee less than one crore.

Would you buy it?

Pakistanis and their sarcasm skills

Other netizens didn’t buy it either but they played along with the joke. In return to seeing a car ad for a ship, they too responded with questions similar to the ones you have for cars. The comments are surely hilarious.

They even joked about OLX and its famous line from the ad, ‘Sub bech day’ (Sell everything).

Who knows Pakistanis better than Pakistanis? And when the jokes are from our own behaviour patterns, they become all the more hilarious.

Hopefully, KPT and the ‘foreigner who used the ship briefly’ will solve the situation before some one actually buys the ship for PKR 9,999,999.

Mountain Dew’s Flamin’ Hot Flavour Has The Internet Divided

mountain dew flamin hot flavour drink

Mountain Dew has released a new flavour. For those who previously loved this drink, prepare to be excited and shocked. For those who have always hated it, prepare to lose your temper. Flamin’ hot is coming for you!

The New Flavour

Mountain Dew (nowadays referred to as “MTN DEW”) is a caffeinated, citrus-flavoured fizzy drink. It is owned by PepsiCo, the same brand that also owns Cheetos. Thus, combine Cheetos and MTN DEW, you get the flamin’ hot drink! People are confused as to what to call it? The company says the new flavour will be a combination of sweet and spicy.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by MTN DEW (@mountaindew)

However, we have a feeling it’ll taste a lot like regret. How can someone imagine drinking something spicy for fun? This reminds us of those times we’d make a concoction of weird things in the kitchen as a dare for a sibling. Only now, it’s a globally available drink, coming soon.

Mountain Dew’s History of Experimenting

The brand’s press manager said DEW has a history of experimenting with flavours. That is what keeps the spirit of the brand alive. They had the same philosophy in mind when they were working on FLAMIN’ HOT beverage.

The company itself also calls it their most “provocative beverage yet”. Moreover, they added, “we’re excited for DEW Nation to taste the unique blend of spicy and classic sweet citrus flavour.”

Even Mountain Dew doesn’t suit everyone’s flavour palette. How will this ever?

Internet Is Divided

Surely, not everyone is an experimental junkie when it comes to food flavours. Some like their plain Coke, Sprite, and Fanta! However, there are also those who would celebrate this news and count the days until they can drink it. These two types of people show how the internet is divided.

There Is Merch Also

If the liquid form of a jar of spices being drained down your throat was not enough, there is also merch coming for it. MTN DEW has decided to push full throttle for the hype of this new drink. The clothing brand Broken Promises is creating a fashion collection to go with it. The collection will go live in September while the drink is coming out in four days.

They also partnered with Baddie Winkle to promote the new drink. Must we say more? It’s a marketing phenomenon we see before our eyes.

PTV Soon To Produce Series On Ghalib & Mughal Emperor Babur

ptv series mughal emperor babur ghalib

PTV is all set to be revamped with a new series on Ghalib and the Mughal Emperor Babur in the making. The exciting series is being made as part of a collaboration with another country and the plan seems huge!

ptv series mughal emperor babur ghalib

The New Series

The series, in the pipeline about our cultural history, is being produced in collaboration with Uzbekistan. So far, no further detail has been released about the series itself but we’re guessing it’s going to be based on their lives. It is so exciting to imagine the sets and to see Ghalib’s reinvention up close.

Fawad Chaudhry has also shared that the detailed series on the historical figures has kicked off its pre-production.

Fawad Chaudhry Takes The Lead

After being reappointed as the Minister for Information and Broadcasting in April, Fawad Chaudhry picked up a lot of unfinished business. Some reforms meant for national communications failed. Thus, in light of these reforms, he asserted that PTV will become a high-definition (HD) channel. This has been delayed since 2019!

He added, “PTV Sports will also become a high definition channel this year.” Chaudhry also called the revival of film and drama a “priority”. Most importantly, he promised loans for young filmmakers. Don’t forget if PTV News is already in the process of being reformed, the Sports and Entertainment segment will not be left behind. PTV as a whole is being updated.

Pakistan x Turkey Entertainment

Recently, a collaboration between Turkey and Pakistan for another series was all the buzz. It was revealed that Pakistan is all set to make a show on the life of Muslim ruler Salahuddin Ayubi. Due to the collaboration, it will be shot in Turkey and will have cast from both countries.

Doesn’t it sound epic already? We can’t wait to see this amazing series in the pipeline for Pakistan.

Future Plans and Funding

PTV’s Managing Director informed that the institution has increased its annual revenue to Rs11 billion. The annual expenditure, on the other hand, is now between Rs7 billion to Rs8 billion. The director also shared his hopes that the channel would become digitalised by December.

Unfortunately, the MD told that no investment had been made for the digitalisation of PTV in the last 15 years. He added that the company is trying to make PTV at par with international standards with a minimum budget. It’s tough indeed. However, their hope is to make PTV “the voice of the nation, internationally,” he shared.

The People Pakistan Cover

Sohai Ali Abro was dressed to the nines for the cover. One of her looks was a glam power blazer which more than suits her vibe. The makeup is kept to a minimum with her hair tied back in a messy ponytail. The shots with minimal lighting make her blazer dress pop even more!

Nirvana Sued By Spencer Elden Over Explicit Imagery On Album Cover

Nirvana is one of the best bands in history and they have lived up to their reputation. Kurt Cobain led them through thick and thin, as they tackled the world at every turn. Now, after decades, the band is being sued by an individual who appeared on one of the album’s covers as a baby. However, the case is that the cover shows explicit imagery.

The individual goes by the name of Spencer Elden. He appeared as a baby on of the older album covers: Nevermind By Nirvana. The picture depicts a fully naked baby underwater, grasping at a dollar. At the time, Kurt Cobain thought this to be a clever idea for an album cover. However, Spender Elden says otherwise, as he also states that this photoshoot has caused problems in his life later on too.

Nirvana And The Case

Not only is the album cover showing sexual imagery, but it also depicts child pornographic imagery. Due to the baby being entirely naked, this is the case that is being made. Spencer further states that he has faced a lot of problems growing up due to this very reason. He says that he suffered from extreme emotional distress with physical manifestations. Apart from that, he also says the loss of education, wages and employment have been a consequence of this event.

There are 16 defendants in the case, including the widow of Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, and the surviving members of the band. The lawsuit also states that Elden was never paid for being on the cover and that his parents never signed a release form. It was previously reported that he had been paid $250 for it.

Case Going Deeper

If we cycle a bit back, Elden recreated this image back in 2016, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this event. He was also reported to have said that he felt cool to be a part of something he did not even remember. Further, in the year, he also stated that what if he was not okay with being on the cover like that, without clothes on.

Kurt was inspired to use this as an image after he saw a documentary of babies being born underwater. This is what the designer of the cover says. However, showing the birth on the cover may have been too graphic so they went with the swimming baby instead. Spencer Elden is seeking damages of, at least, $150,000 from each of the 15 defendants. He also asks that the case be tried with a jury. The defendants have not yet responded or commented publicly on it. However, we will update you as the situation progresses.

7 Types Of Parathas That Are Every Pakistanis Favourite

7 Types Of Parathas That Are Every Pakistanis Favourite

Truth be told, no breakfast takes the place a paratha holds in our hearts. Waking up to the smell of fresh parathas is bound to make your day; both mentally and physically. Perhaps the amount of love poured into it while kneading the dough and making the paratha makes them even tastier and our all-time favourite. Paratha is a complete meal packed with fibres and protein, whether paired with a hot cup of tea or an omelette.

Parathas have evolved over the past years. Gone are the days when only a few flavours existed; a plain paratha or an aloo ka paratha. Now we can indulge in various paratha styles and needless to say, we love all of them. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

1. Lacha Paratha

If one thing that is meant to catch your eyes on a Dhaba is a paratha in the making. Pilled up rolls of dough gently flattened on the stove and drizzle with lots of oil. A Lacha paratha is a craving that can never be satisfied. The crunchy texture in the endless spirals results in a multi-layered flatbread. If cooked perfectly, the delicious paratha itself is enough to curb your hunger. However, an omelette or a hot cup of tea can be a cherry on top.

2. Aloo Paratha

Paratha filled with potato batter mixed up with herbs and served with condiments is one of the tastiest foods. The shallow fried paratha with curry stuffing leaves behind a layer of soft and warm potatoes inside it.

3. Cheese Paratha

The cheese paratha recipe has gained massive popularity over the past years. Not to mention the different versions that have come out blended with meat and vegetables. The ordinary-looking paratha is filled with cheese, and once you bite into it, the melting cheese combined with the crispy paratha is indeed an unexplainable experience.

4. Pizza Paratha

We do have a habit of incorporating anything into everything. However, whoever thought of replacing the Italian flatbread base with a South Asian bread indeed is genius. The pizza paratha is loaded with cheese, sauce, vegetables, and meat perfectly paired with hot sauce.

5. Garlic Paratha

Move over garlic bread, but if you don’t want to, you will once you try the garlic paratha. The paratha is stuffed with garlic masala, fried in desi ghee which makes it crispy yet warm and soft.

6. Nutella Paratha

Another odd combination that turned out to be one of the most beloved one’s is a Nutella paratha. The Nutella paratha has now taken over the crown of a Cheeni paratha, and we are not mad. The finger-licking paratha is loaded with lots of Nutella inside or on top.

7. Cheeni Paratha

If you haven’t tried a Cheeni paratha, then you haven’t lived your life to the fullest. For decades Cheeni paratha has been our loyal companion, and even though Nutella replaces it, we will never forget the OG in the paratha game.

Pakistani Brands That Cashed In On The Hype Of Money Heist Series

Money Heist has had a lot of traction globally ever since Netflix adopted it.

Money Heist and its fame

Its famous Bella Ciao was the talk of the town for some time and even now, you just need to be triggered and you’ll hum the song the entire day. Hence, it goes without saying that brands would try and jump on the bandwagon in order for the consumers to find the relatable. There were numerous such brands worldwide, but today, we will be discussing the Pakistani brands who were a part of the phenomenon.

Daraz

Daraz’s mega 11.11 sale was no secret. To promote it, they created a parallel with Money Heist; the narrative possibly being that Daraz’s sale’s hype is worth the same as the hype of Money Heist.

Just look at our Pakistani celebrities being their version of Tokyo, Rio, Nairobi, and the Professor.

https://www.facebook.com/darazpk/posts/2219970221479943

Careem

Following up on the Daraz’s idea of a Money Heist inspired campaign, Daraz and Careem had a conversation on Twitter.

The conversation was that they talked in a way that it referenced Money Heist. The best part was that their message was relevant to their product as well.

Take a look:

This is fun, no? It is not everyday that we get to see brands in Pakistan interacting with each other.

Domino’s Pizza

The thieves in the Netflix show fancied themselves, Resistance. They believed to be fighting against the corrupt system. Domino’s creatively employed the concept in their copy. Well, if we are not able to resist their copy, how will the Resistance be able to resist their Pizza?

https://www.facebook.com/dominospakistan/photos/10157943965002349

There are many more campaigns that occurred worldwide. But considering it is Pakistan that is relevant to us, these brands hopping on to the bandwagon hit close to heart.

It is very few foreign series that get the fame Money Heist got in Pakistan; Either it was Ertugrul or Game of Thrones. Now, the Money Heist’s journey is nearing its end. The final season will air in the first week of September. While we are excited about how the story will be brought to an end, we are also waiting for the brands to do something related to the show all over again.

Brand Wars: Pepsi Zero Sugar Takes A Dig At Coke Zero

Brand Wars: Pepsi Zero Sugar Takes A Dig At Coke Zero

Coca-Cola and Pepsi are at it once again with their latest marketing strategies in today’s episode of brand wars. Pepsi is calling out Coca-Cola in hopes of getting the loyal Coke customers under their spell.

Coca-Cola Zero Revolutionised

Coca-Cola zero has been through significant changes ever since it was released, from rebranding to new marketing strategies in hopes of getting Coke zero the fame it deserves. However, a few months ago, the plan backfired when Coca-Cola came out with a new version of Coca-Cola Zero which didn’t seem to sit best with the netizens. As a result, Coca-Cola launched a campaign under the name of Try It First to lower the judgment and speculations of people around it.

Read More: Pepsi’s Recent Creative Campaign Uses More Than 70 Voiceovers

How It All Started?

A few weeks ago, Coca-Cola released a campaign to promote the latest reimagined Coca-Cola Zero. The newest version of Zero has been given a look and the feel of a classic coke. The newest version hit the shelves in July with not just refreshed taste but also improvised packaging. The marketing campaign for the Coca-Cola Zero launch consisted of three different advertisements. However, the game started when Coca-Cola asked their fans this question.

Is this the “Best Coke Ever?”

In response to the question, they also answered in a classic call-to-action manner.

“You need to try it first.”

Pepsi Takes A Dig On Coke-Zero

There is no doubt that both Pepsi and Coke have a fan base of their own. No one is unaware of the digs both brands have taken on each other now and then, to cash more loyal customers. However, this time Pepsi is taking its most undue turn to call out Coca-Cola once again after the launch of its latest version of Coke Zero. They even asked the customers to get reimbursed if they are not satisfied with the taste. The shade is real, and everyone is looking out for it.

Pepsi even moved on to openly announce the hashtag #MyCokeBreakUp and asked the customers to switch to Pepsi once and for all. Adding that if they are disappointed with their sugar-free version, they can get their payments reimbursed upon showing proof.

Needless to say that the drama is becoming too much now; clearly, Pepsi has taken a simple question to heart.

In an upcoming football game, PepsiCo is an official NFL sponsor for the series. The announcement made by Pepsi said that much of its marketing would revolve around the Pepsi zero version. Pepsi is all set to make the most of this dama as it ramps up its adversarial messaging against its chief competitor.

It is not that they will stop producing phones. The difference is that the company will no longer use the word ‘Mi’ with their products. This news came to light as a rumour some time ago, when Xiaomi released the Pad 5 and Mix 4. What was interesting to note was that the company did not use ‘Mi’ with this product. This led people to believe that the company was going to shelve the name and use products with just their own name.

Mi Branding Long Standing

As far back as we can remember, the Mi branding has come with a huge range of smartphones. The name ‘Mi’ itself was one of the outstanding features of the brand. It even had its own logo and colour coding. You saw orange on any billboard, and you immediately knew what it was.

Apart from this, Xiaomi’s General Manager for the Nordic Region, also said that all the stores will be called ‘Xiaomi Stores’. This transition is also going to take place on the online ‘Mi’ store. Soon, any newly launching product will no longer be under the banner of ‘Mi’.

Innovative Names

According to the official source, this change is going to unify the brand globally. People often used to think of the two as entirely different, despite being closely connected. Now, everyone will know Xiaomi to be just the one brand with products. Xiaomi products offer a more premium experience whereas Redmi products offer a pocket-friendly one. With the branding removed, both of these are just under a single name now.

Hugo Boss is one of the largest German clothing companies in the world. Their global sales count was as much as €2.9 billion in 2019. Hence, their coming to Pakistan is a huge deal because it puts us on the international fashion map. Moreover, it could not have been easy. Such brands require such an incredible investment thus, whoever brought it must really believe in it.

Netizens Reactions

People are more than elated to see a new international brand open its doors on Pakistani soil. It has been ages since we said hello to a new one. Moreover, our malls are sadly full of the same local shops we have been visiting since childhood! This will generate greater visits to Centaurus for sure.

The initiative is largely being appreciated by the locals. Hashtags like #TheBossHasLanded and #HugoBoss also became top trends on Twitter.

Hugo Boss’ Strategy

The initiative of Boss to open the outlet in Pakistan is part of a greater scheme by the luxury brand. It seems to be a consequence of Hugo Boss’s ultimate plan to attract younger shoppers to the German fashion chain. It is believed that while older demographics have greater spending, the young shoppers are more impulsive buyers. Thus, in order to generate and double their sales to 4 billion euros ($4.74 billion) by 2025, Boss is going to new countries.

Chief Executive Officer Daniel Grieder, a former Tommy Hilfiger executive, joined the chain in June. He shared that he also wants to sell more via third parties i.e. through wholesale distribution. While Grieder said collaborations with other brands and celebrity endorsements are being considered to increase the brand’s reach, opening a new branch is also doing the magic.

Hopefully, we’ll see HM or Zara soon enough!

“My husband is not my child but my partner,” Say Nadia Hussain

husband partner not child nadia hussain

Nadia Khan shared her point of view when it comes to doing her husband’s duties. After the Sadaf Kanwal fiasco, there’s finally someone talking sense on live television. Here’s what the actress said with her husband sitting next to her:

Sadaf Kanwal’s Benchmark

Funnily enough, the same woman who was interviewing Sadaf Kanwal when she made those controversial statements, was also interviewing Nadia Hussain. Sadaf Kanwal previously set the standard very low on this topic. Her infamous dialogue was that she should know where her husband’s shoes, clothes are. She should also iron them for him. However, he must not know these things about her or do those for her.

Now, when the same question is asked Nadia Hussain, her answer is like a gust of fresh air.

Nadia Hussain Gets Honest

The interviewer asks Nadia Hussain that, “Do you think it is a farz of women to do their husband’s work? Do you do his work?” To which Nadia Hussain honestly replied, “No, why should I do his work? He’s my husband, my life partner, not my child.”

This sets the standard for what she had to say beyond this and immediately shows her stance— it’s anything but what our toxic society feeds us.

Raised The Wrong Way

The interviewer then asks Nadia Hussain a very important question. She explains how men in our society are raised in a particular way. It’s the mother always cooking for them and doing their work. The sister is asked to compromise for her brother repeatedly. The male is basically prioritised and pampered since birth. “Do you think that’s right?”, the interviewer asks Nadia Hussain.

To which Nadia Hussain simply said, “I believe that is wrong and I’m not raising my children that way.” Though being from an elite family her children might have many of their needs met, it is great to know that the change we seek is underway. Perhaps the coming generation will be different!

The Interview Clip

Should A Wife Not Serve Her Husband At All?

The interviewer also asked that what if a husband asks his wife to get him water or food? It is here that Nadia Hussain clarified that asking to do something is not the same as expecting the other to do something. In our society, it is believed that women must spend their lives serving their husbands. That, without a doubt, is wrong, unacceptable, and must be fought against.
