JS Bank Partners With Nayapay For Digital Payments

Karachi, 13th August 2021: JS Bank and NayaPay have signed an agreement to collaborate on enhancing digital payments in Pakistan.

JS Bank and NayaPay’s mutual customers can link their JS Bank account or JCash wallet to their NayaPay wallet for convenient money transfers between accounts and for merchants to offload funds to their designated JS Bank account. In addition, consumers and businesses can use their linked accounts to pay verified merchants on the NayaPay app. Customers may also load their NayaPay wallets by simply using the JS Bank Internet Banking and Mobile Banking or by visiting any JS Bank branch for over-the-counter cash deposits.

Speaking about the partnership, Noman Azhar, Chief Digital Officer – JS Bank stated, “This partnership will allow us to fulfill one of our key objectives which is delivery of value-added payment solutions in a simple, convenient and easy manner. We believe in providing an enabling environment to startups which can help to fill the gaps in the current ecosystem.”

Faraz Javed, Chief Information Officer – NayaPay said, “At both NayaPay and JS Bank, customer convenience without compromising security is paramount — our strategic partnership will go a long way towards achieving this goal. We look forward to a strong relationship between JS Bank and NayaPay to bring immense value to our collective customers.”

The collaboration between JS Bank and NayaPay will open more avenues for digital payments for customers of both entities while providing ease and convenience.

This is a huge deal for the company as it becomes one of the pioneers of tech that has body composition features. It now stands shoulder to shoulder with Amazon due to this. Amazon also has said feature in its Halo Band which has a body fat percentage feature.

What Is Body Fat & Why Is It Important?

Body fat is basically a more genuine calculation to assess health rather than weight. It is often calculated using a metric called the body mass index (BMI), a throwback to grade 9 science. However, BMI has been thought to be crude and inaccurate by health experts. That is precisely why a breakthrough is being done in the tech world. If such wearables can calculate it better, people will be more informed.

How Does Galaxy Watch 4 Do This?

The Galaxy watch measures the person’s body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). This is a technique that sends a weak electric current through the body (don’t worry, you won’t feel it!). This current calculates the amount of water in the body. This is because the signal moves faster through tissues that have a higher percentage of water.

Conversely, since fat has a lower water content than muscle, BIA also estimates the amount of fat in the body. 

Limitations of BIA

However, like all scientific methods, BIA also has its limitations. Body fat and water does not have a perfect ratio that can be measured or interpreted in a black and white way. Moreover, the ratio of water in a body changes throughout the day. For instance, a simple exercise can change it!

Usually, these sensors are placed beneath the soles of the feet. However, Samsung has shrunk them to fit in a watch on the wrist. Will this be successful or will it misinform people? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Pakistani Women Use Innovative Drying Technique For Date Production

Given that Pakistan is largely agriculture based, it is not surprising when you find that it has one of the biggest canal based irrigation system. A country with a forte in agriculture, it should strive to excel in that. It can use latest products from technology sector to innovate its agriculture, but we do not see it happening. Fortunately, a small group of women in Khairpur have realized this and are using a new drying technique in date production.

Khairpur is a city that contributes to almost 40% of the annual date production of Pakistan. Even though 40% of the dates are coming from this city, the way it is produced is still very traditional. Even today, people lay the crop out in the sun for the natural heat to dry it up. During this traditional process, the yield gets largely contaminated by the wind and wandering animals. Imagine, how unhygienic that must be!

Sadly, only 1% of the entire production is of enough quality that it goes through value added processing.

WADO leaves its mark on agriculture

Women Agriculture Development Organisation or WADO for short, is an NGO that helps women in the field of agriculture. They enabled almost 20 women with innovative technology that involves solar and tunnel dryer. The technology covers the dates to protect it from contamination and colour fading. The dates production conducted through this drying technique leads to refined crops.

The women pick the dates from the fields. They clean them up and lay them out on drying trays.

After being dried and graded, dates are packed in airtight packages.

In conversation with a publication, WADO spokesperson, said that during the harvest season, these Pakistani women are able to produce around 37 kilograms of high quality dates.

Employing these techniques can double the amount dates were sold at.

The women involved in the process earn almost Rs. 10,000 every harvest season. This could contribute to a number of women gaining economic independence.

While this is an innovative technique, it only amounts to a handful of date yield because the farmers lack such date processing units; Not to mention the amount of dates lost to rain.

Zahir Jaffer and the brutal killing of Noor Mukadam is the talk of the town these days. While some are traumatized by such news, there are others who mad insensitive remarks about the victim. Fast forward to almost a year, we see a Zahir Jaffer emerging and we see the beheading of Noor Mukadam. The killer ended a human life, committed a crime against humanity. This is a high-profile case that everyone has been following. Looking at some of the findings of the case, we hear that Zahir was most likely filming the torture and murder of Noor. Moreover, another speculation suggests that after the murder, they [him and his parents] tried to hide the body.

The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) notes that the ship was coming from Shanghai. It was on its way to Istanbul when it lost its anchors. Space news is something that intrigues a lot of people. It is a collective achievement that is considered successful for everyone on Earth. When Neil Amstrong landed on the moon, it was not just on behalf of one country. This was on behalf of humanity, all of us. Elon Musk has been one of the front runners, with his company SpaceX. They have launched quite a lot from Earth since their advent.

Now, SpaceX has just been contracted by another company, Geometric Energy Corp. They have said that they intend to blast a satellite into space and this will be done aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Due to this satellite, advertising can be beamed down on Earth from low-orbit.

The advertisement will be displayed on a pixelated screen on the side of the spacecraft. Now, you might be thinking that this can ruin the night sky and star view.
