There is one sporting event that almost everyone looks forward to. Even if you don’t watch the football WorldCup, you definitely watch these. Yes, we are talking about the Olympics! This is a huge event that takes place once every four years. If you remember the last Olympic games, they were a sight to see! However, the 2020 Olympics did not happen due to the pandemic. So, the board decided to shift them to 2021.

The hosting country for them, this time, is Tokyo, Japan. To keep you in the spirit of the Olympics, Google has introduced a game to the audience. It can be played from the main Google page.

Olympics And The Google Game

This game can be referred to as the ‘Champion Island Games’. Once you click on the Google logo, you are redirected towards the game itself. It starts off with the protagonist travelling to an island for the purpose of taking part in an event. This event consists of seven games as well as various side quests. The name of the protagonist, or us, is lucky the cat.

As you start off, you can run about and explore the island. There are numerous games to play and sidequests to perform. Whether you like to roam about or get straight to the point, the game keeps you engaged for quite a while. The seven mini-games that you can play are,

Mountain Climbing
Rugby
Marathon
Table Tennis
Archery
Skateboarding
Swimming

Winning each game in the first place gets you a scroll. You are given the option to select one of four teams. All of their scores and leaderboards are being displayed in real-time.

The game itself is quite engaging and really puts on in the spirit of the Olympics. We hope you have as much fun playing it as we did.

The gameplay itself reminded us of the time we use to play handheld. The graphics are similar to games like Pokemon on Nintendo! The Tokyo Olympic games begin today and they are going to go on for quite a while. It is nice to see the norms of the world returning as the vaccine takes effect. The Khadija Siddiqui case was also one such case that shocked the nation. Is male ego really that fragile and the passion for revenge that vile? Many years later, it appears, we stand at square one as the convict has been released from jail.

Khadija Siddiqui Case

At the age of 21, in May 2016, Khadija Siddiqui was picking up her little sister from school when a man in a helmet got into a stabbing frenzy. She was stabbed on her neck, abdomen and arms a total of 23 times. Her little sister who tried to intervene was also hurt. The culprit was then identified to be Shah Hussain, her old friend who was angry over Khadija’s break-up with him.

After waiting for three years for justice, The High Court, initially, allowed the man to walk free on the streets. However, the case was reviewed and it was then that he was awarded the bare minimum punishment. 5 years in jail. There are people on death row in Pakistan whose crime is unknown, let that sink in!

Fresh Update on The Case

Unfortunately, Shah Hussain will not even be completing the full circle of this small punishment. He has been released from prison after serving 3.5 years. The news was touched upon by Jibran Nasir who raises pertinent questions for the Premier and the judiciary.

This Eid-ul-Adha will have a lot at stake. This coming week and the next one might be the time-frame in which we either control coronavirus for good in Pakistan or experience a second wave. If you’re anxious about how to spend this Eid safely, then use this as your guide.

1. Say No To Qurbani At Home

Even when a pandemic was something we had not experienced, many diseases were caused by animal markets. The insane amount of animals all kept under one roof, with thousands of people going in and out, can make for a breeding spot for a host of diseases. Animal markets need to be majorly avoided.

Yes, it is farz to do qurbani but not for the sake of your health. Many online platforms are offering contact-free services, opt for them!

2. Keep Gathering (if any) Outside

Intimate gatherings can not be put a stop to no matter how much one is advised. Just getting together with a couple of family members is alright if you know they have been careful as well. However, the best way to do that this Eid-ul-Adha is by keeping those gatherings outside. This sweltering heat is not too practical for this, but a few fans outside can make it bearable.

Keeping it outside will ensure everyone can be at a safe distance and that your house isn’t contaminated.

3. Keep Charity Distribution Risk-free

Charity distribution constitutes a considerable part of eid-ul-Adha. If you’ve gone out on Eid days, you’ll remember seeing 10s of people lining up outside houses or people even opening their gates to distribute food. But, alas, this Eid, we can not afford the privilege of coming into such close contact when and if we distribute charity.

What you can do instead is pack the food in small packets and take them to underprivileged areas. From within your car, you can distribute the packets evenly. Moreover, you could always go on a drive and keep distributing as you see the deserving people.

4. Shop Online And Only Online

It can be tempting to go to stores to select your favorite outfits for Eid. It’s an undeniable fact that the stock in stores is just better and fresher. Even with brands in Pakistan offering fraudulent experiences with online shopping, you can feel wary. However, please, stay at home and shop online.

Look for trustworthy brands. Brands also understand nowadays that most people are shopping online, so the stock online is excellent too. You can try to find pictures of others wearing your desired outfit to see how it looks as well. Also, opt for brands that have a refund policy, so you’re not in trouble later.

Coca-Cola recently announced a re-branded version of the classic Coke Zero. This is more than just a change of packaging— Coca-Cola announced on Twitter that the new can would also mean a change in the original formula. The recipe for Coke Zero is changing and it’s not all that good.

A Blunder In The Works

While the company claims that this tweak was made for an even better “refreshing” sugar-free taste— many of Coke’s consumers were not buying it. Currently, Coke Zero serves as one of the most popular sugar-free drinks worldwide and consumers seem to be more than satisfied with how it tastes.

Upon the announcement, several users of Coke Zero expressed their displeasure about the change. Many pointed towards past incidents where Coke tweaked its formula and it resulted in blunders. For instance, during the mid-’80s Coca-Cola introduced the “New Coke”— a change in the formula that resulted in making the drink sweeter. The change led to severe backlash from consumers and the company ended up losing millions.

Why The New Formula?

The scenario begs the question of why Coca-Cola would want to risk their brand image by tweaking with a perfectly fine formula? Coca-Cola representatives have responded by pointing towards evolving tastes and preferences across the globe. They say they want to be proactive and satisfy fans thoroughly.

As for the mistake from the mid-’80s, Coca-Cola says they have not changed any of the ingredients this time around and have rather improved the existing composition. If this formula goes through, it just might set the company back as opposed to ahead.

Another day, another celebrity controversy! This time it’s Saboor Aly who is receiving a lot of criticism from the public.

Saboor Aly is in hot waters after a Twitter user posted on social media about the lack of compliance and failure to meet the protocols by the actress. Saboor Aly was boarding a flight where she was seen without a mask. The airport staff asked her to follow the protocols while they handed her a mask since she was traveling without one.

However, she still refused to wear the mask and wore it only for a few seconds while boarding the flight. Now, you must be wondering what could be the reason behind this. Well, our pesky little face friends! As she mentioned:

“Mujhe doc ne mana kiya hai, mask se mujhe acne hojati hai”

On the tweet, Saboor received severe backlash as people called her out on her lack of responsibility. While most of them made sure to explain how the reason behind not wearing a mask is illogical and irresponsible and as a celebrity, she should’ve been more aware of the situation since we are on the verge of getting the fourth wave of the virus.

Some people also mentioned how a piece of mere news does not have anything to support itself, and it could be just for the clout.

Ford has created a perfume that smells like gas/petrol to help its users shift easily to electric cars. Make no mistake, this is a strategic investment done only after conducting surveys. You’d be surprised about how many people love this scent.

In A World of Electric Cars

Ford recently launched its collection of electric Mustangs. Priced at a whopping $59,000 the cars are futuristic and electric. They have everything, however, fall short of only one smell. The smell of gas! It turns out many people really love this smell. Petrol ranks as a more popular smell than both wine and cheese. People also compare it to the smell of new books!

Hence, to make the transition to electric cars easier, Ford conducted a survey. The survey intended to find out what exactly would people miss most about non-electric cars. 1 in 5 drivers said they’d miss the smell of petrol. Almost a quarter (24 percent) of survey respondents claimed they would miss the performance of petrol cars if they made the swap.

The Mach-Eau Scent

Ford, as a result, decided to launch an olfactory solution. The new smell it has created will help drivers transition to EVs through their sense of smell.

Ford has also clarified that the perfume does not smell exactly like petrol. The Mach-Eau is designed “to please the nose of any wearer. It blends smoky accords, aspects of rubber and even an ‘animal’ element to give a nod to the Mustang heritage,” according to Ford. The fragrance of petrol was launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

What Else Could Be The Reason?

Creating a scent is no small feat. Plus, especially when a scent is as strange as the smell of petrol. Though Ford may have the best interests of its users at heart, it was also looking out for itself strategically.

In related news, Ford Motor Company announced In May this year that it is aiming for 40 per cent of all sales to be electric vehicles in the next 10 years. The company is currently spending billions on the development of EV platforms and battery manufacturing to achieve this goal.

Ahsan Khan set out to show the public how incredibly special his goat for sacrifice was. However, the situation simply turned on its head with the actor being roasted on social media.

The ‘Special’ Goat

Ahsan Khan started making videos of his ‘qurbani ke janwar’. He purchased two goats and a cow to sacrifice as a ritual on Eid. According to Ahsan Khan, one of the goats was coloured black and white, which was extra special. He takes the goat’s ear and stretches it out to show a natural splodge of black on its ear. That splodge, according to Ahsan Khan, is ‘Muhammad’ written on the goat’s ear.

One can not determine what is written on the goat’s ear anyway. Moreover, even after seeing it, when Ahsan Khan instructs us to, one does not believe it. It’s just how the goat’s ear is coloured. Why enforce this on there?

There are many instances of people taking natural and random things and making them out to be religious. Most of these things tend to go viral then. Could it be that Ahsan Khan was trying to make his goat viral? Why else would one make a video to simply say something that is not even true?

Synite Digital bagged three awards in the award proceedings this year.

Google Is Adding What?

Google is in the process of adding a new screenshot and sharing option to Chrome. Screen grabbing is useful to use in any app and adding it to Chrome would only increase its popularity. There are also numerous benefits to sharing information through screen grabbing.

Users often feel the need to take screenshots of a website. It can be to take a picture of the layout or an entire article to send to friends. While you can definitely print stuff out or take screenshots manually, Google is going neater.

Share Whatever You Want

The change is planned to ensure Google is more inclusive, more convenient. If their user finds something online that they want to share, nothing should stop them. Instead of sending a link and writing an essay on how to navigate to find the same thing, simply use Google’s latest tool.

This new tool would make it possible to grab an image of the visible portion of a site. In addition to that, the tool will also include the option to grab a desired section of the page. Plus, did you know scrolling screenshots could also be an option?

The feature’s release date has not been released yet. It could be ‘coming soon’ or it could be ‘in the making’, users have not been updated. While a brand may be able to get it right most times, sometimes it is not perceived the way they intend. This situation is exactly what Careem Pakistan is in after their Bakra salon ad.

The Eid ul Azha centric ad went live yesterday evening. The moment, its notification must have pinged on my phone, your knee-jerk reaction would have had you look on the phone and then look away. A moment later you would have registered what you just read, and then, you looked again. Did the events transpire just like that, because it did for me?

Did I find it weird? At the first glance, yes. But when you think about it, it’s not something that other-worldly. Almost everyone who goes to buy sacrificial animals gives them a funky makeover before taking them out into public. There is henna on the animals alongside bells, bracelets, and jewelry.

With the service Careem is providing, the makeover artists come to the household. First of all, it is easier for animal owners. Moreover, because of COVID, everyone remains safe. The only strange part is where they call it a salon. Probably because humans frequent salons, they feel weird if this noun is shared with animals.

There was a mixed response to this promotion. Some people were absolutely flabbergasted at this promotion. They were of the opinion that Qurbani or sacrifice should be given the respect it deserves. Like every issue, there are two opposing sides; one side finds it nonsensical while the other finds it not a big deal.
