The ‘kiswa’ or otherwise known as Ghilafe-e-Kaaba, is that piece of brocade that covers the Holy Kaaba. The annual replacement of the kiswa is one of the essential pilgrimage highlights and is done on 9 Zil-Haj, marking the second day of Hajj.

The History Of Kiswa

After the conquest of Makkah in the ninth Hijri year, the Prophet (PBUH) covered the Kaaba in Yemeni clothes as he performed his farewell pilgrimage. This was the first time the Kaaba was covered, and it marked the beginning of the ritual.

The choice of color for the Kiswa is black, which was the optimal choice since it is practical or long-lasting. However, the previous colors include red, green, and white. The choice of color was based on the financial means in every era. The financial means of the different ages were one of the most critical factors in the fabric and the color choice for the kiswa.

Previously, kiswa was made in Egypt and Yemen as the kings of these territories took turns. However, as soon as the political dispute was raised, kiswa’s production in Makkah began.

Muslim kings and sultans continued to cover the Kaaba and kept taking care of it. However, it was not until the Saudi era, the Ghilafe-e-Kaaba started receiving significant attention.

The Makeup Of Ghilafe-e-Kaaba

The parts of the kiswa are the most sacred and holy objects in Islamic art. The fabric is adorned with Islamic verses written with the help of 220 kg of gold and silver threads. The material consists of 670 kilograms of pure black silk, which covers approximately 658 sqm. It takes 137 workers around eight months to create the Kiswa align with heavy machinery and technology, which is upgrading simultaneously.

What Happens To Old Ghilafe-e-Kaaba?

As soon as the Ghilaf is removed, it undergoes an evaluation to minimize any damage done by the bacteria or chemicals. It stays in a warehouse before processing further. If granted, the kiswa is distributed as gifts to different museums and given to specific individuals visiting foreign Muslim dignitaries and organizations.

Reception of the video

Chinese Vaccine’s Efficacy Against COVID-19 Delta Variant

New research shows that a COVID-19 vaccine, developed by a unit of China’s Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products, can reduce the chance of virus replication. However, there is a slight reduction in the delta variant as opposed to the previous variant.

Delta variant of the coronavirus spreads its wings while it takes over to affect a large sum of the population.

The infection rate of the delta virus is much high as compared to the former variant. This has led scientists to question the efficacy of vaccines and treatments against the new variant.

The Results Of The Study

This study was done with serum samples from people vaccinated with Zhifei’s three-dose regimen. The results showed a 1.2-fold reduction in neutralizing effect compared with an older variant. However, the researchers mentioned that the data is limited and more research needs to be done to evaluate the results thoroughly. Moreover, the results from the phase three clinical trial are yet to be published.

Zhifei’s vaccine is approved for emergency use in china and Uzbekistan. The number of doses administered has now exceeded 100 million to date.

A New Ice Cream Flavor

Kraft, a food and beverage company, has partnered with Van Leeuwen for a limited edition mac and cheese ice cream flavor. Safe to say it is a limited-edition flavor, but the fact that the ice cream was sold out is still confusing. The company launched the flavor on July 14, on account of National Mac and Cheese Day. The flavor comes in a formulation of natural ingredients with no artificial flavors.

How Often Should You Clean Your Brushes?

Well, as often as you use them. Even if you have your makeup brushes enclosed in a case miles away from the dirt, there is already so much bacteria and oil that tends to accumulate on it. That bacteria can often cause skin problems, including acne, which is not so welcoming. According to dermatologists, you should clean your brushes every 7-10 days. But sometimes it becomes a little bit difficult.

So, make sure to clean the brushes for liquid products often, which is once a week, and the brushes for powder and shadows every two weeks.

1. Use Makeup Wipes

Since makeup wipes have now become outdated to be used on the fave thanks to the beloved oil cleansers, use these makeup wipes to clean your brushes to remove the leftover makeup after every use. This will lower the chances of dirt and bacteria accumulation and will allow you extra time between washes.

2. Use A Dishwash Or Facewash Liquid

Do not be alarmed with the word dishwasher liquid since it is a wash-off product, and it should not cause you any problem as long as you are rinsing the brushes properly. Just foam up the liquid on your hands, rub the brushes between your knuckles, repeat, and voila!

3. Give Them A Bath

If you have some extra time, block that big tub of yours to give your brushes a warm bath. Mix some soap in the water and leave your brushes for an hour or so. This will melt off all the stubborn makeup from the brushes, making it easier for you to clean them off.

4. Buy a Brush Cleaning Pad

A brush cleaning pad is an easy to use and cheap tool if you do not want your hands to get irritated from all the rubbing. The ditches and spikes help clean each brush’s fiber while removing all the build-up makeup inside the brushes.

5. Baby Shampoo

A straightforward way to clean up your makeup brushes is to dip them in a glass of baby shampoo for about 30 minutes. Rinse them with warm followed by cool water and pat dry. However, this can be used for only those relatively clean brushes and do not have much product buildup.
