Update [June 21 2024]: Kaybees has responded to recent allegations regarding food quality and hygiene at one of their outlets. The incident, which occurred on the first day of Eid, involved a customer complaining about an unpleasant smell from a club sandwich, which was promptly replaced with a steak by the manager, ensuring the customer’s satisfaction.
However, the situation escalated when the customer, upon seeing sandwiches served to another table, created a disturbance and forcefully entered the kitchen. Kaybees clarified that the chicken in question was not rotten and emphasized that they received no other complaints about their food quality that night. They condemned the customer’s behavior as unethical and unacceptable, and reported the defamation to the FIA Cybercrime Division.
Here’s the official statement:
Karachi’s renowned Kaybees restaurant is facing severe backlash following allegations of serving rotten chicken. The uproar began when a video went viral that showed the unhygienic kitchen that Kaybees was using and the rotten chicken that was stored in refrigerators. Following that, several customers took to social media, sharing their harrowing experiences and expressing concerns about the restaurant’s hygiene and food quality.
Food Quality and Hygiene Issues
Instagram users hopped on to the post “Kaybees is one of the dirtiest restaurants in Karachi,” read one of the comments. Another user commented the decline in quality, stating, “Kaybees used to be our family go-to spot. Now it’s just gone to waste.”
The accusations did not stop there. Numerous customers shared similar complaints, describing encounters with spoiled food and poor sanitation. One of them claimed, “I also experienced this at Kaybees. They serve rotten chicken and there’s no cleanliness.”
Further testimonies echoed these concerns. Someone recounted a visit to the Gulshan branch where they discovered a hair in their chicken strip. Similarly, another customer described receiving reheated, foul-smelling chicken, which was only replaced after a complaint.
Calls for Boycott and Closure
The online uproar has led many customers to boycott the restaurant, with some advocating for its closure. One of the user mentioned a former employee’s revelation that spoiled chicken was regularly used, and called for a complete ban on the establishment.
Furthermore, some users offered alternative dining options. They recommended Texas Chicken near 5 Star Chowrangi, while others expressed relief at having avoided Kaybees. Despite the negative feedback, a few comments showed customers’ lingering attachment to the restaurant, though heavily marred by recent experiences.
Kaybees reassured their commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene, stating that the issue was isolated and thoroughly investigated. They expressed concern over the spread of one-sided information and reiterated their dedication to transparency and customer satisfaction. The restaurant chain remains firm in upholding the reputation they have built over decades, ensuring that their focus on quality and service remains unchanged.
In the meantime, the public awaits action from food authorities and a formal response from Kaybees, hoping for improvements that could restore the restaurant’s tarnished reputation.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced the imposition of fixed charges on electricity consumers, ranging from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1,000 per month. This new structure is set to take effect on July 1, 2024, and represents a significant shift in the way electricity tariffs are calculated and applied in Pakistan.
Residential Consumers to Face New Charges
Residential consumers will see fixed charges based on their monthly electricity usage. The charges are tiered as follows:
301-400 units/month: Rs. 200/month
401-500 units/month: Rs. 400/month
501-600 units/month: Rs. 600/month
601-700 units/month: Rs. 800/month
Above 700 units/month: Rs. 1,000/month
Time-of-Use (ToU) meter users: Rs. 1,000/month
Increased Burden on Commercial and Industrial Consumers
Commercial and industrial consumers are also affected by the new fixed charges. For commercial users, those with a load less than 5kW will face a charge of Rs. 1,000 per month, while those with a load of 5kW and above will see their charges increased from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000 per month.
Industrial consumers are categorized based on their load and type of metering. The new charges are as follows:
B1 category (up to 25kW, ToU metering): Rs. 1,000 per month
B2 category (up to 500kW): increased from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000 per month
B3 category (up to 5,000kW): increased from Rs. 460 to Rs. 2,000 per month
B4 category (all loads): increased from Rs. 440 to Rs. 2,000 per month
Currently, the cost of electricity is heavily weighted towards variable charges, which account for 98% of revenue, with fixed charges making up only 2%. NEPRA’s new fixed charges aim to balance this by increasing the proportion of revenue derived from fixed charges.
Impact on Consumers and Revenue Generation
This change in tariff structure is expected to generate significant additional revenue for the power sector. For FY25, the government has projected revenue generation of over Rs. 3.763 trillion from these new charges. Additionally, NEPRA has set the new base tariff for FY25 at Rs. 35.50 per unit, up from Rs. 29.78 per unit in FY24, representing an increase in the base tariff of Rs. 5.72 per unit.
Looking ahead, the government plans to approach NEPRA for the implementation of a uniform tariff for FY25. This move is aimed at standardizing electricity costs across different consumer categories and regions, further simplifying the tariff structure.
NEPRA’s decision to impose fixed charges represents a strategic shift in Pakistan’s electricity tariff framework, aimed at stabilizing revenue and ensuring the sustainability of the power sector. While this move may result in higher monthly bills for consumers, it is expected to provide a more predictable and stable revenue stream for the industry, ultimately contributing to the country’s energy security and infrastructure development.

Microsoft has edged out Nvidia, reclaiming the top spot after a notable decline in Nvidia’s stock. The tech giant’s shares dropped nearly 3.4% on Thursday, resulting in a significant loss of approximately $91 billion in market value. This dip brought Nvidia’s market capitalization to $3.34 trillion, with its shares priced at $131.88.
Microsoft, though also experiencing a minor decline of 0.4%, now holds the lead with a market value of $3.30 trillion, its shares trading at $444.8 in the afternoon. Apple, the third major contender in this high-stakes competition, saw its market capitalization at $3.22 trillion after a 2.2% drop, with shares valued at $210.10.
Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple: A Tight Race
This trio of tech behemoths—Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple—are locked in a tight race for supremacy in market valuation. The fluctuations in their stock prices reflect the dynamic nature of the tech industry, where innovation and strategic positioning can rapidly alter the landscape.
Adding to the intrigue, Elon Musk’s recent announcement on his social media platform X hinted at significant developments in the AI sector. Musk revealed that Dell Technologies and Super Micro Computer are supplying server racks for his xAI startup’s supercomputer, which will enhance its AI tool, Grok. Despite this news, Dell and Super Micro saw their shares dip by 1% and 0.7%, respectively. These companies, which integrate Nvidia chips into their servers, are poised to benefit from the escalating demand for AI-capable processors.
AI: The Powerhouse Behind Nvidia’s Success
Musk’s earlier comments highlighted the massive scale of Nvidia’s involvement in AI. The training of the Grok 2 model alone required about 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, with future models projected to need upwards of 100,000 Nvidia H100 chips. This underscores Nvidia’s pivotal role in the AI industry, where it not only profits but dominates the market.
“Nvidia’s experty in AI is unparalleled,” remarked Jake Dollarhide, CEO of Longbow Asset Management. “Their success is a testament to the integral role of AI in their business model, distinguishing them from companies like Microsoft that both invest in and generate revenue from AI.”
The Broader Market Impact
Despite recent fluctuations, Nvidia’s stock has nearly tripled this year, contributing significantly to broader market gains. Super Micro shares have also seen a dramatic increase, more than tripling in value, while Dell’s stock has surged by almost 95%. The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index, reflecting the robust performance of the semiconductor sector, has risen nearly 34% since April, achieving a lifetime high on Tuesday.
Looking ahead, analysts like Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities predict that AI technology will continue to bolster the market positions of major tech firms. “The tech market will see the strong get stronger,” Ives stated, “as AI enables Big Tech stalwarts to further monetize their extensive installed bases across both enterprise and consumer sectors.”
As the race for the top spot in market value continues, the interplay of AI advancements and strategic corporate maneuvers will undoubtedly keep investors and industry watchers on edge.

In lieu of recent events, after the Pak vs. IND match the Pakistan cricket team has left their fans disappointed and shocked. However, just recently, a Pakistani influencer reshared a two year old video of his on the vast difference in ads that are aired in India and Pakistan during the World Cup matches which has left everyone in shock. Watching cricket is a beloved pastime in both countries, but if you notice, the ads played in between are vastly different.
Here is a link to the video:
Ads in India
India’s ads reflect an interest in technology and self-improvement, it seems as though India acknowledges the future is tech. Most advertisements seen in India between the Cup are of apps that offer investment opportunities, and financial advice. Even those that help develop skills. This trend suggests that Indian consumers are increasingly tech-savvy and looking for ways to improve their skills and financial standing. The focus on educational and financial apps highlights a market that is forward-thinking. It also indicates a younger, more dynamic audience that values growth and is improving based on what the future will look like.
Pakistani Market
Comparatively, the advertisements in Pakistan are completely different. The ads streamed for us during the Cup feature shampoo brands, soap, and cooking oil. Pakistani ads are centered around everyday household products, indicating a market that prioritizes essential goods. This also proves that the Pakistani market is more interested in essential goods rather than luxury or self-improvement. And this interest shows a different economic landscape.
Conclusively, the types of ads played during the T20 World Cup in India and Pakistan provide a window into the different consumer landscapes of each country. India’s focus on tech growth contrasts with Pakistan’s emphasis on household items, highlighting different economic priorities and consumer behaviors. This ad gap not only reflects the current market trends but also shows how consumers in each country see themselves.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking a firm stand against journalist Mubashir Luqman after he accused captain Babar Azam and other unnamed players of match-fixing. These allegations have further stirred the already turbulent waters following Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.
The PCB has demanded evidence from Luqman and other journalists making similar claims. They have also threatened legal action if these journalists fail to provide proof. The PCB’s strong response underscores their commitment to protecting their players from baseless accusations.
Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign ended in disappointment, with losses to the USA and India sealing their fate in the group stage. Fans are furious, and former players are vocal in their disapproval, which was expected by the PCB and players. However, the match-fixing allegations have only added fuel to the fire.
Allegations and Media Frenzy
For the unversed, Luqman accused Babar Azam of match-fixing, claiming the star cricketer accepted expensive gifts, including an Audi E-Tron, in exchange for losing international matches against lower-ranked teams like USA.
Some other YouTubers and journalists have also jumped on thee bandwagon, discussing these allegations, which have also caught the attention of Indian media.
However, team sources assert that no player has been involved in any negative activities during their time in the USA. ICC anti-corruption officials and the team’s security manager have been vigilant throughout the tournament.
PCB sources have stated, “We are fully aware of these negative comments. Criticism within the bounds of the game is acceptable, but baseless allegations like match-fixing cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Moreover, there is an internal belief that the current team members, especially Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan, have never been part of any negative activity.
PCB Taking Legal Action
The PCB sees no reason for an internal investigation, as they have full confidence in their players. Instead, they are focusing on legal recourse against those spreading false claims.
The PCB’s legal department is issuing notices to those making allegations, demanding proof. If no evidence is provided, they plan to seek compensation for defamation. A new law in Punjab ensures a swift decision within six months, reinforcing the PCB’s resolve.
“Those who made the allegations should provide proof. We have instructed our legal department to issue notices to such individuals and demand evidence. If not provided, we will seek compensation for defamation,” PCB source states.
Team sources say that social media, TV experts, and a few YouTubers have created a hostile environment. The players are now afraid to go out, which is a sad reflection of the current state of affairs.

Former Pakistan men’s cricket team Director Mohammad Hafeez has dropped some bombshell revelations about the players’ behavior and approach during his tenure.
Serving as the Director from November 2023 to February 2024, and also as the interim head coach, Hafeez has some strong words following Pakistan’s group-stage exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
Sleeping During Test Matches?
In a candid conversation with England’s Michael Vaughan and Australia’s Adam Gilchrist, Hafeez didn’t hold back. He claimed that players were actually sleeping in the dressing room during Test matches. Yes, you read that right—sleeping!
“You tell me, Gilly [Gilchrist], if a player is sleeping in the dressing room while we’re playing Test cricket. 4-5 players are sleeping in the dressing room. Should I allow that as a team director?” Hafeez questioned, clearly frustrated.
Vaughan, trying to lighten the mood, asked, “Are they tired?” Hafeez, however, kept a serious tone, “I really don’t know. I went into the dressing room and found 4-5 players sleeping while playing Test cricket. I was like, ‘How come you guys can do that?’ If you do something like this, you cannot be a part of this team.”
The Importance of Focus
Hafeez emphasized the importance of focus while playing professional cricket. He clarified that he never interfered in players’ personal lives but expected them to stay focused during games.
“I want you guys to stay focused during the game and off the game, whatever you guys do, it is your own life; I never get involved in it. But in the professional timings of the game, I want you guys to focus on the game,” he continued.
Hafeez explained that even if players needed rest, they should still stay engaged with the game.
“Stay in touch. If you are a fast bowler, you can have a rest and a good ice bath, but you need to concentrate on the game of cricket, like how the other team is also doing. You cannot switch yourself off during the game, but unfortunately, the media didn’t like it,” he concluded.
Mohammad Hafeez and the PCB decided to part ways in February, marking the end of their association after only four months, having assumed the role in November of the previous year.
During his tenure, Pakistan suffered a 3-0 defeat in the Test tour to Australia and faced a 4-1 loss in the five-match T20 series in New Zealand.

So let’s say you’re in the market for buying a vehicle in Pakistan! like me. There’s no denying the thrill of driving down the streets in your own car is something everyone wishes to experience. But with shiny new cars filling every dealer, a crucial question arises: brand new or used? While there is no denying the appeal of a brand-new vehicle, the used automobile industry in Pakistan is by far the most dominant! You may have always pondered, why is this the case? Surely, newer is better, no? Let’s delve into the reasons why many Pakistanis find themselves leaning towards pre-owned gems instead.
1. Affordability Takes The Wheel For Used Cars
Let’s face it, brand new cars in Pakistan can come with a price tag that can leave your bank account feeling like it never existed in the first place. It’s no surprise that the first reason to pop-up in anyone’s head is affordability. Import duties, taxes, hefty registration fees, licensing costs and dealer markups all contribute to a significant price difference compared to used cars.
Imagine finally getting a chance to test-drive your dream car, only to be met with a price that shatters those dreams in an instant! Buying a used car makes owning a vehicle more affordable and enables you to go drive around the busy streets without breaking the bank.
2. Slowing Down Your Worst Enemy: Depreciation
Factory new vehicles tend to experience rapid depreciation the moment they leave the showroom doors. However, used cars have already weathered this depreciation storm, resulting in lower upfront costs! You might not get to experience that new-car smell (even though it fades away so quickly) but on the other hand, this sound decision allows you to invest your own hard-earned money in a car that holds its value better!
Heck, in the case of Pakistan, we usually see older vehicles even at times appreciate in value. This serves as way for you to tackle inflation one way or another. While the rate of depreciation in used vehicles is slower, it means that buyers’ investments retain significant value. When it’s time to sell, the resale value remains relatively stable, allowing owners to recoup a substantial portion of their initial investment. An example of this can be taken by the all-time favorite Toyota Indus, which has not only survived more than two decades in the market, but has increased in value for those looking to buy it.
3. A Sea Filled With Unlimited Potential With Used Cars
Pakistan has a well-established and sizable used vehicle market. This converts into a car lover’s dream come true, with a greater assortment of automobiles at different price ranges to suit a range of wants and budgets. The used car market is likely to have something for everyone, whether you’re a young professional looking for a fuel-efficient hatchback. Or even a growing family in need of a roomy SUV for weekend getaways, heck even car enthusiast looking to restore a particular older model to its former glory. It like a hoard of riches just waiting to be discovered! Because the used automobile market accommodates a wide range of tastes, consumers may discover the ideal vehicle within their price range.
4. Say Goodbye To Waiting On Your Precious Number Plate
One of the biggest issues that plagues Pakistani consumers when they buy a new vehicle is getting it registered. Even after you pay the heavy surcharge, the system is broken, leaving you stranded without a permit to drive your car. People tend to find alternatives to this issue, but we all know how that ends up going. If you don’t want to be featured on a random televised segment with an illegal number plate, its better you get a car that already has gone through that process.
Many vehicles on the street nowadays are roaming around with illegal number plates. The most common instance of this you’ll encounter in your day-to-day routine are cars with AFR on their number plates. And you might ponder why so many vehicles are sporting this specific number plate, well truth be told, all of them are vehicles who have Applied For Registration but are not lucky enough to get their real plates delivered. Coming for a guy who had to wait 4 years just for his car to get a legit number-plate, its not worth being pulled over by every cop over a simple mismanagement of the system.
5. Finding Used Gems You Missed Out On
There are instances when restricted manufacturing runs or lengthy waiting lists accompany the newest and best models. In these circumstances, the secondhand automobile market turns into a refuge. Perhaps you will come upon that long-desired discontinued beauty, or perhaps you will locate an old automobile that is no longer offered as new. Imagine discovering a classic Toyota Land Cruiser, ideal for straying from the usual road on those weekend escapades, or a well-maintained Honda Civic from the early 2000s, renowned for its dependability and striking style. You may get your hands on a piece of automotive history that isn’t available in a showroom by shopping the used automobile market. The automobile craze in Pakistan is something you can’t miss out on.
In Pakistan, the concept of “own price” persists. If you want a new car immediately, you may have to pay an additional premium. Waiting times for new cars can stretch from one to ten months or more. By opting for a used car, you avoid this extra cost and get behind the wheel sooner.
The Flip Side Of Buying Used Cars
Despite its size, the used automobile industry may often resemble the Maze Runner. Used automobiles can differ widely in terms of quality and condition. Purchasing a secondhand automobile takes more research and a careful eye for detail than purchasing a brand-new vehicle under warranty. Here are some pointers for negotiating this fascinating and occasionally difficult landscape:
Become a Used Car Detective: No matter what you decide in life, its always suggested to DYOR (Do Your Own Research). Nowadays, online marketplaces offer a huge amount of information on used car prices, reviews, and comparisons. Knowing the market value of the car you’re interested in will help you avoid overpaying for it!
Befriending a Trusted Mechanic: A pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic can go a long way. They can identify any potential problems, from engine wear and tear to hidden accident damage. Think of them as your car-buying guardian angel, ensuring you don’t get stuck with a decision you end up regretting.
Don’t Be Afraid to Bargain: Haggling is a form of art for the average Pakistani (specially for desi moms). While you need to respect the seller’s original ask, don’t be afraid to negotiate based on the car’s condition. A little friendly bargaining can save you a significant amount of money.
Consider Certified Options: Some dealerships and marketplaces offer certified used vehicles. These vehicles have undergone a thorough inspection and may come with even a guarantee! While typically more expensive than a regular used car, certified options offer peace of mind and a level of guaranteed quality.
To Buy Or Not To Buy… Used, That Is The Question.
At the end of the day, your personal requirements and financial situation determine whether you should buy a new or used vehicle. If cost is your top priority, there are a ton of alternatives available in the used vehicle market. Nevertheless, by all means, make the purchase if a brand-new vehicle with the latest equipment, and peace of mind are what really matter to you! Remember, the key is to be informed, patient, and a little bit adventurous when navigating the world of used cars in Pakistan. With the right approach, you might just find yourself cruising down the road in your very own dream car.

Pakistan cricket is gearing up for a major shake-up following their disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. The aftermath has seen calls for changes across the board, and one significant move could be the exclusion of Wahab Riaz from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee.
Wahab Riaz Under Scrutiny
According to ESPNcricinfo, Wahab Riaz’s departure from the selection committee is highly likely. The seven-member committee, already under fire, is expected to see reductions in its members. The PCB might also abandon its recent experiment of operating without a designated head or chief selector.
Less than three months ago, the PCB unveiled its current selection committee. Initially, Wahab Riaz served as the chairman, but he was later demoted to a regular member.
The committee operated on a majority decision basis, a move aimed at fostering debate and reaching consensus. However, this structure has faced significant criticism, and changes are imminent.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi wants told to make a public demonstration that no one is immune from consequences, including Riaz, who is considered a close aide of Naqvi.
Both the PCB and Riaz are frustrated with the perception that he still acts as the de facto head of the committee, bearing the brunt of the criticism. As a result, his future on the committee hangs in the balance.
What About Babar Azam?
As for Babar Azam’s captaincy, no immediate decision is expected. Despite the emotional fallout from Pakistan’s early exit, there’s no rush since the next white-ball game isn’t until November.
The PCB plans to conduct a thorough review, including input from head coach Gary Kirsten, who has voiced concerns about the team’s lack of unity, as well as the captain himself.
Pakistan’s T20 World Cup journey ended abruptly with a shocking loss to the USA and a close defeat to India, leading to their elimination before the Super 8 stage. They did manage a win against Ireland in their final match, finishing third in Group A with two victories, including a win against Canada.
As the PCB gears up for these potential changes, cricket fans are left wondering what the future holds. Will these adjustments bring the needed turnaround for Pakistan cricket? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the winds of change are blowing, and Pakistan cricket is set for a significant transformation.

Islamabad, Pakistan – June 20th, 2024: – Google for Education and Pakistan’s Ministry of Federal Education today announced a strategic collaboration to bring digital transformation to millions of students in the country. The partnership will improve access to education and support the development of a digital ecosystem for learning – for Pakistan’s tens of millions of students.
Google, through its Google for Education’s country partner, Tech Valley, will work with the Pakistani government to:
• Establish a local assembly of over 500,000 Chromebooks by 2026
• Provide access to digital tools and resources for students and teachers
• Train teachers on how to use technology effectively in the classroom
• Develop and implement innovative learning programs that leverage technology
The collaboration will focus on helping out-of-school children in Pakistan. Last month, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, declared an “education emergency” to address the issue of over 26 million children being out of school. He pledged to oversee a national program to enrol these children back into educational institutions and expressed his hope for the provincial governments’ support in achieving this goal.
As part of the collaboration, Allied, an Australian manufacturer of Google Chromebooks, will establish an assembly line in Pakistan to locally assemble Google Chromebooks, making them more affordable for educational purposes. The goal is to ensure that every student in the country has access to cutting-edge classroom technology, which will enhance their learning experience.
Ultimately, Google’s collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education aims to drive a large-scale digital transformation of Pakistan’s education system, creating smart classrooms and fostering a healthy learning ecosystem. Both partners will work together to empower educators and students, focusing on upskilling, training, and building flexible smart classrooms.
Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, emphasized the need for such initiatives and said, “The work Google has been doing in the education sector is highly commendable, and we are here to support its efforts in Pakistan.” He also expressed a strong interest in expanding the collaboration between Google and the Government of Pakistan and requested the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional and the Ministry of IT & Telecom to work closely to identify mutually beneficial synergies.”
Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, said, “The partnership with Google for Education is a significant step forward in our efforts to provide quality education to all children in Pakistan. “We believe that technology can play a vital role in improving learning outcomes and preparing our students for the future.”
Farhan S. Qureshi, Google Pakistan’s country director, says: “This partnership has the potential to transform education in Pakistan for the better, giving millions of students access to education and digital tools that will help them learn better and get ready for the digital economy. Also, creating a local assembly of over 500,000 Chromebooks will help Pakistan’s manufacturing industry grow and attract more investments in technology.”
Kevin Kells, Managing Director, Google for Education, adds: “Google for Education offers powerful tools that can support learners in developing some of the key skills they need to thrive; including foundational literacy and cutting edge digital and AI skills. We are proud to be able to support the Government’s mission and help to safely connect Pakistani young people – including out-of-school children – to high-quality learning opportunities. Moreover, Google Classroom and Workspace for Education will help teachers have the maximum impact on their students.”
Apple recently revealed its latest AI innovations, dubbed Apple Intelligence, at the WWDC 2024 event. These cutting-edge features are designed to enhance user experience through advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities. However, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will benefit from these advancements. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the more affordable models in Apple’s latest lineup, will not receive these AI features. The reasons behind this decision are rooted in hardware limitations and performance considerations.
The Role of the A17 Pro Chip
One of the primary reasons the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will miss out on Apple Intelligence is the absence of the A17 Pro chip. Unlike the Pro models, which boast this advanced chipset, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are powered by the A16 Bionic chip. The A17 Pro chip includes a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) specifically designed to handle AI tasks efficiently. This NPU, introduced by Apple in 2017, significantly enhances the device’s ability to manage complex AI and machine learning processes, a capability that the A16 Bionic chip lacks.
Another critical factor is the difference in RAM between the Pro and non-Pro models. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come equipped with 8GB of RAM, providing ample memory to support the extensive computational demands of AI features. In contrast, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are equipped with only 6GB of RAM. This disparity in memory capacity means the non-Pro models do not have the necessary resources to effectively run Apple Intelligence features.
Performance and Efficiency
The performance capabilities of the A17 Pro chip also play a crucial role. With an NPU rated at 35 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), the A17 Pro chip can handle intensive AI tasks that are beyond the reach of the A16 Bionic chip. This high performance is essential for real-time AI applications and machine learning processes, ensuring that the features run smoothly and efficiently. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, with their less powerful hardware, would struggle to deliver the same level of performance.
Security and Privacy Considerations
Apple has always prioritized security and privacy, and this philosophy extends to its AI features. Apple Intelligence is designed to operate on-device, minimizing the need for data to be sent to external servers. This requires a robust hardware setup to manage AI tasks securely and efficiently within the device. The additional RAM and advanced NPU in the Pro models make this feasible, whereas the non-Pro models lack the necessary hardware to maintain the same level of security and efficiency.
The exclusion of Apple Intelligence from the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is primarily due to hardware constraints. The A17 Pro chip’s advanced NPU and the increased RAM in the Pro models provide the necessary power and efficiency to support these AI features. As Apple continues to push the boundaries of technology with its Pro models, it also highlights the performance and security demands of integrating advanced AI capabilities. For users of the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, this means missing out on the latest AI features but still enjoying a robust and reliable device.
