YouTube Gets 4K HDR Support For Streaming On Android

Alphabet Inc. owned YouTube which is the biggest streaming platform on the planet has been able to provide 4K HDR support on its video-streaming. The high-quality streaming was available on iOS earlier but now the US-based streaming service has extended the support for Android users too.

How To Access 4K HDR Streaming On YouTube’s Android App?

Before the most recent support, Android users were only being offered video streaming in 1440p resolution regardless of whether their phone screens were able to support streaming of higher resolution. However, with the latest update now even android users can enjoy the high-quality streaming provided that the video that they intend to watch is uploaded at that resolution.

The users of YouTube’s Android application will now be able to select 2160p (4K) HDR after clicking on the three dots on their video player. If you are unable to see that option, chances are that you may have not updated your app to the latest version.

As per details, the latest update of the YouTube app which has this update was released on February 18th.

Several days back, YouTube announced some changes for its platform to enhance the experience for its users. This includes a modernized interface for its tablets interface. There is another feature called the Youtube shorts which is supposed to work like TikTok.

This additional feature is expected to release in March for its users in the United States before it is revealed to the rest of the world. YouTube has been conducting testing of this feature in India which is eventually expected to go global in the next few weeks.

HEC Announces Scholarships For Students Of Balochistan

Most programs start in the fall, and those programs’ admissions mostly end in December and January. But don’t fret if you have missed that because the opportunity of your life has the deadline is March 18th, 2021. So if you have a domicile that makes you the residents of Balochistan, get ready to apply for a higher education degree which could be anything from LLB, LLM, or Ph.D. level courtesy HEC.

How To Apply

You have to apply through the HEC portal. So first, you have to register yourself with the HEC. Since everything is online, in the first phase, you do not need a hardcopy of documents. You just need the scans. There is, however, an application fee of PKR 500. You have to deposit it into the HEC’s bank account and submit the scan of the paid copy with the HEC  application. It is non-refundable.

Details of eligibility

If you are looking to apply for LLB, your maximum age should be 25, for LLM 30 years, and Ph.D. 35 years. For LLB, the candidate must have at least 50% marks in BISE intermediate or any other equivalent exam. The LLM candidates must have an LLB degree from HEC recognized university. As for the Ph.D. students, they must have an LLM degree. Apart from that, all of the candidates will be asked to appear in the aptitude test. They all must secure more than 50% marks in it.

Moreover, out of all the seats for this scholarship, 15 to 20 percent will be reserved for the victim’s families who were martyrs or severely injured in the blast of August 8th, 2016, that happened in Quetta. Although if the candidates from victims’ families are lesser than the assigned quota, that case, the seat will be given to someone eligible on merit.

[Update]: iPhone users may relate to the statement that more than using their phones, they have to charge them. And they would also not be strangers to how fragile the wired chargers are. Well, it is time to say goodbye to the troubles those wires presented us with, apparently. No more tearing away Apple chargers. 

The tech giant is looking into creating a battery pack that will magnetically connect to the charger. This service is initially focused on Apple 12, the device that launched in October 2020. So, well, the company will have another add-on to sell away.

The magnet will be installed at the back of the iPhone with the aid of the MagSafe System. It is the same system that helps in pairing other Apple accessories such as its wallets. It is being said that the charger had not yet been released due to technological issues. It was being said that the device was initially facing issues if the users were switching between wired and wireless chargers. Moreover, the battery pack was also overheating. 

Could these challenges lead to the accessory not launching? It would look very cool was it to release, though.

Apple Moves Up

Since Steve Jobs stood at the podium and altered the world’s geography, he has been seen as a legend. His legacy, this company he left behind, did not completely go into the ground. Instead, the complete opposite happened! 2020 has been one of Apple’s best years, and it seems that 2021 will be no different, either! It seems some good things came out of the ‘Stay At Home’ era.

Now, Apple has announced a new replacement program. If you have an iPhone 11 between September 2019 and May 2020 and have a recurring screen issue, it can be replaced. How about that? A free screen replacement! Break out that iPhone 11 of yours and check if the screen does need replacement.

Apple has mentioned that the iPhone 11 units between the time mentioned above were developed with a fault. This involved a touch screen, which had some issues. Users who bought the phone then experienced these issues, causing them a bad iPhone experience. If you had a phone between that time, iPhone 11, check your serial number.

The serial number will tell you if you’re eligible to apply for the program. If you are, an Apple-authorized service provider will replace your iPhone 11 screen for free of cost. However, Apple has mentioned that it may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase.

A Future Of Technology

One of the things this shows about Apple is that they care about their long-time customers. The fact that they’re starting a program to repair their older phones for free shows dedication. They are not abandoning their customers as the era moves forward. Just because iPhone 12 was a success does not mean that iPhone 11 has to be disregarded.

The presence of such a program shows that they may announce other programs too. Apple can rewind further back and check older models of other products too. Maybe there is an iPad fault they haven’t checked yet. Hold on to your Apple products because you never know when you may have a replacement opportunity of sorts.

AliExpress, one of the largest e-commerce websites in the world now shows prices in PKR! The feature is available to the users who have the AliExpress application downloaded on their Android phone.

The updated AliExpress app on the Google Playstore can let you view product prices in PKR or Pakistani Rupees. Although it is a quality of life update, it will save you the hassle of constantly having to switch tabs to convert prices on other devices.

As of now, there is no word on when the same feature will be available for iOS users who have downloaded the AliExpress application.

How to Activate Feature

In order to activate this feature, the user needs to tap on the hamburger icon on the top left corner inside the app. Scroll down and tap on settings. Toggle the currency option to PKR. It will look something like this:

The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League was one of the anticipated events of 2021, and for the past few weeks, people cannot stop talking about it. Whether it is the official anthem sung by Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig, and Young Stunners or news about Esra Bilgic representing Peshawar Zalmi, we can’t get enough of it. With the cricket league kicking off yesterday, there has been a lot of conversation about the opening ceremony.

The Opening Ceremony Of Pakistan Super League 6:

One of the most surprising things about the opening ceremony was that it was held in Turkey, a country that does not even play cricket. The ceremony featured superstar Atif Aslam, Amplifier’s Imran Khan, alongside Aima Baig and Naseebo Lal, who could be seen performing in a pre-recorded ceremony in Turkey.

The pandemic affected sports ceremonies all around the world severely, and the fact that the ceremony was pre-recorded and was held at a foreign location may have to do with the situation inflicted upon by the pandemic.

Just like the official anthem that had received a lot of polarizing reactions from the public, the opening ceremony also received pretty divided reactions.

Many pointed out Humaima Malik’s role in the ceremony, which got many viewers confused.

Growing up in the 90s also made me a Disney Kid. Yes, I have binged watched Nick, Disney, and all the channels ‘burger’ kids watched when they were bored. But you have to admit, nothing beats ‘classics’ like the one and only, The Lion King.

The story revolves around a cub Simba who is cunningly manipulated into believing that he is the reason his father is dead (no matter how many times you’ll watch it, this scene will make you cry every time!).

Simba then blames himself and runs away from home. Simba’s uncle eventually takes over the kingdom as the new King. But, the rightful Lion King returns to claim his throne!

3. Jurassic Park

How could man-eating dinosaurs not make this list? Just like the Terminator franchise, Jurassic Park is a worldwide hit! It is one of the best, popular and groundbreaking projects by Steven Spielberg.

The story revolves around John Hammond, an entrepreneur who decides to open a wildlife park containing cloned dinosaurs. However, a breakdown of the island’s security system causes the creatures to escape and bring about chaos!

These are some fool-proof ways to get those unwanted guests out of your house for good.

Why You Need To Use Them

Some people think there is no need to try to get houseflies out. They’re harmless, they say. But ultimately, they are not. That’s because houseflies carry with them enormous amounts of germs and transfer them to each surface they sit on. They can have viruses and bacteria wherever they go and be the cause of food poisoning too. So pull your socks up!

1. Herbs and Flowers

Herbs and flowers can be planted both in your garden, which keeps flies away from your house. Some special herbs and flowers repel flies, which include: basil, marigold, lavender, bay leaves, and catnip! This is a great way to begin because these can be used in your cooking too.

2. Vinegar and Dish Soap

A mixture of vinegar and dish soap can help you trap flies. To use this method, mix about an inch of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap in any tall container. Cover the box with a cling film. Then, secure the plastic wrap with a rubber band and poke small holes in the top.

Flies will be attracted to the vinegar in the glass and will fly through the holes. However, the dish soap causes the flies to sink instead of being able to land on the vinegar. This method is a bit violent, so only use it when necessary!

3. Cayenne Pepper and Water

Cayenne pepper helps repel houseflies significantly. Simply mix it with water and spray around the house to deter flies from coming in. A natural pesticide!

4. Venus Flytrap

Venus flytraps are carnivorous plants that eat insects. If you plant them outside, they’ll naturally eat flies. They’re best kept outside because inside, you might need to feed the plant flies.

When a fly gets in the plant’s trap, it closes around the fly. It then secretes digestive fluid to dissolve the insect’s soft insides. It breaks down the insect over 5 to 12 days, then spits out the exoskeleton. Anybody seen Journey To the Centre Of The Earth? You’ll know what we’re talking about.

5. Natural Trap Bait

If any of these methods don’t work for you, you can also use foods or drinks to which flies are attracted to entice them into traps. These foods are sugar (honey or molasses), fruit, and meat!

Breathtaking Gwadar Stadium Hosts Its First-Ever Sooper-Exciting Match

The inaugural match of Gwadar Cricket Stadium hosted by Fakhr e Alam came to pass today on February 19th, 2021. The two teams that played against each other were Showbiz Sharks and Gwadar Dolphins, of which the former won by 12 runs. Originally 20 overs match but then later made 25, SooperHaiPakistanCup will be remembered as a historical event for reasons more than one.

Firstly, it was an event conducted in a province that has many stereotypes against it. People assume that the province doesn’t have much development. But through this event, people got to know that a lot of infrastructural development is happening more so in the recent years; case in point, the new stadium itself.

And that brings us to the second point, it was the first-ever official match to be played in the new stadium. But given that there is another stadium that was inaugurated today only, what makes this different? The picturesque beauty of the stadium made it popular within days all over the world.

Another reason was the players in the teams. Gwadar Dolphins played against Showbiz Sharks, but it was not made up of professional crickets (no, they are busy preparing for PSL starting tomorrow). It was made of celebrity figures from the showbiz industry as well as politicians.

If you couldn’t watch it live on Aaj Entertainment, then let me tell you who participated in this historical match. Involved in the match was the host of the match, Fakhr e Alam himself. Joining him were Faysal Qureshi, Saleem Sheikh, Aijaz Aslam, Shehzad Roy, Sami Khan, and (drumroll) Ali Zafar.

And last, but not least, the match was dedicated by the Prime Minister to the missing Pakistani mountaineer now declared dead by the family; Ali Sadpara. The mountaineer too was one of the greatest explorers of Pakistan.

He had been involved in several expeditions to get to the peak of the hardest mountains. And paying a tribute to him with the star-studded match was fitting with his life journey.

Open to all, this event welcomed the Gwadar residents and celebrity guests alike with no discrimination. Just imagine, strolling into the stadium to find celebrities like Ali Zafar, Kamran Jeelani and Ali Safina running around the cricket field playing that one sport we all love so much.

How to Restore Deleted Photos on Android Phone

Accidently deleted your favourite picture with the family? Or a very memorable picture with your better half which was only on your Android phone? No worries, even deleted images can now be recovered with ease so that you do not have to feel a bottomless pit in your stomach.

Want to recover those lost images? Here’s how:

Software

Step 1- Connect Your Memory Card to the System

You can either manually insert the SD card using an adapter in your laptop, or use a memory card reader to help.

Step 2- Choose a Software Program

There are plenty of different recovery software you can download to help you recover your deleted images, for this article, we will refer to one of them called ‘EaseUS MobiSaver for Android’. Once you have found the software (EaseUS or of choice) install it and complete the installation.

Step 3- Developer’s Option

Enable USB Debugging from the developer’s option. This can be done by 4 simple steps

  • Open Settings> About> Software Information> More.
  • Then tap “Build number” seven times to enable Developer options. …
  • Go back to ‘Settings’ menu and now you’ll be able to see “Developer options” there.
  • Tap it and turn on USB Debugging from the menu on the next screen.

Step 4- Launch the Application

Launch the application. Now, you can observe the device name displayed when connected successfully. Simply, click on “Start”.

Step 5- Analyzing

The software will start analysing the data that can be recovered and at the same time it would display the data found along with the category it belongs to (like – media, documents, contacts and so on.)

Step 6- Choose Recover Option

Once the scan has been completed you can mark multiple photos and click on “Recover”. So, now you have successfully recovered the deleted photos.

Applications

Google Play Store has thousands of applications for various uses. For those who do not want to download software to their system can option for recovery applications. Two of the most famous applications available are ‘DigDeep Image Recovery’ (for rooted and non-rooted devices) and ‘DiskDigger Photo Recovery’ (rooted/non-rooted).

DigDeep Image Recovery

As soon as you launch the app, it would start searching for the deleted photos. In my case, it completed the search in a couple of seconds but the time required to complete the scan would vary.

After the search completes, tap on a folder and then select the images to recover as shown in the image above.

Note: It displays quite a few images that already exist on your device. So, there is nothing to worry about if you observe the same.

DiskDigger Photo Recovery

DiskDigger has two versions available, one is free of cost while the premium service costs $2.99 USD. Revcovering lost images does not require for the user to purchase the premium version of the application, so they can use it free of cost.

When you launch the app, you will be able to multiple memory partitions. You have to select the one from which you want to recover the deleted photos. Let us take a look at how you can do that.

How to Block Stolen Phones in Pakistan

Step #1: Launch the app and select the desired memory partition.

Step #2: Select the type of files you want to recover. In this case, select JPG, PNG, and GIF (optional).

Step #3: Now, click on the “OK” button to start searching for the deleted photos.

Step #4: It would take a couple of minutes (here, 5 minutes) to complete the scan. After it is complete, you can mark the images you want to restore and click on “Recover” or you can select all of the images at once and then click on “Recover”.

Note: We have used the DiskDigger Pro version. If the free version does not work as expected, consider using the pro version to help recover deleted photos on Android.

Google Photos

It is good if you have kept a backup on Google Photos If you use Google Photos as the primary gallery application on your device, then you can simply head on to the “Trash” and select the photos you want to restore as shown in the image below to recover what you lost.

The Future Is Here: Flying Taxis Soon To Be Launched

As a kid, I recall reading a children’s digest, Naunehaal. A story in it painted a picture of flying vehicles all over the sky. The story seemed so futuristic that I never imagined it to happen in my lifetime. But it seems possible within two decades of reading it.

Uber, the multinational taxi service, and Hyundai, a South Korean manufacturer, have presented a model for a flying car. It was already on display at Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The vehicle is said to seat four persons and be a part of the Uber Air Taxis fleet. Initially, they will have one pilot who flies the taxi, but with time, the taxis will autonomous.

The project goes back to 2016 when Uber released a plan calling it Uber Elevate. Uber Elevate was to be completed by the year 2023, and it would provide urban air transport on demand. They just needed to partner with a manufacturer to build the electric aircraft. And the vehicle for Uber Elevate required to be manufactured so that it could take off and land vertically. Hyundai became the partner Uber was looking for.

Details of Uber Air Taxi

When complete, the taxi will be traveling at 200mph for 60 miles. Upon launching, Uber will begin enrolling pilots and target its existing customers, who are currently numbered at 91 million.

Since Hyundai has hired an aerospace engineer Shin Jaiwon for the Urban Air Mobility division, NASA, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is also involved.

The first demonstration of the project, Hyundai S-A1, involving these three primary players, will happen later in the year.

Let’s see how it works now. The vehicle has counter-rotating blades that minimize noise. Plus, since it uses eight different rotors, efficiency is increased. Out of 8, 4 of them tilt when the flight is in a vertical motion, and the other four are fixed when the flight needs to hover.

With this fleet ready, the stations for it will be called Hubs. In these hubs, you will find Purpose Built Vehicles (PBVs). The PBVs will take people from their air taxis to the hubs like a shuttle service.

A flying vehicle- is that possible?

Flying taxis in the air seems excellent, but there have yet been no tests on it, with or without pilots. Plus, how many can afford to travel in a taxi because it will be expensive? eVTOL aircraft were tested, yes, but they aren’t in the commercial sector either.

The technology is still in its very early days. Uber and Hyundai, and various other players in the field, face enormous regulatory and technical challenges in getting their respective air taxi services off the ground.

Many players want to get into the air taxi service. Still, they are bound to face challenges in regulatory bodies and technological advancements, considering this project’s imagination. Yet Uber and Hyundai are the first ones to have mobilized it. What are the consequences; that we will have to see once the task completes!

Technology is advancing at a far swifter pace than we can perceive. At first, there used to be steam-powered machines. They took a peak during the industrial era, also known as the steampunk era. Whenever we think of steam trains, horse-drawn carriages, and frock coats, we are reminded of Victorian London. Now, in 2021, technology is taking major bounds forward. It seems that Drone Technology is to be used on Motorways. They will be used against traffic violators in bringing them to justice and up to the task! This seems quite innovative for a solution to the traffic problem. We are all aware of how bad the traffic can get; now we have a smart solution.

Drones Inbound

Drone Technology has always fascinated a lot of people. The concept of an unmanned aerial vehicle turns the attention of many enthusiasts. Even if you’re not into tech, you must still be aware of what drones are. They are not just the predator and reaper ones used by the US Army, but any unmanned vehicle can be regarded as one. A Quadcopter used in surveillance and festivities is also a drone.

In light of this news, new drone technology is said to be deployed. Deployed where you ask? Well, the latest report states that the Motorways are going to have drone Technology used with them. Anyone who breaks the traffic law out on those fast roads, the drones will be there to make sure justice is delivered. This has such a futuristic vibe to it. It reminds one of ‘Blade runner’.

The drones are part of a five-year plan to embed such technology in Pakistan. We are the first country in the region to use drones with such an application. Since the Motorways here lack a lot of equipment to catch up with the law, this is an excellent measure to take.

This five-year plan also includes other initiatives. These are reviewing the current traffic laws, having rehearsed speed limits for the traffic. Additionally, there is talk of training personnel with the most modernly used tactics and strategies to ensure citizens abide by the law. To see such development being made in this era puts a light of hope on a lot of people’s faces. It’s quite impressive to see that the pandemic has not slowed down technological advances, especially in Pakistan.

The automotive development policy has paved the way for numerous investors to enter the market and challenge the existing companies that have been dominating the industry for the past few years.

Expected To Release In Pakistan In 2021

This year, Lucky Motors, which is licensed for conducting business and operations of KIA in Pakistan, has plans to launch KIA Sorento, which is expected to give direct competition to Toyota’s Fortuner, which Pakistani car enthusiasts have immensely loved. As per the report released by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), the company has plans to launch the SUV on February 19th, 2021.

Later this year, KIA reportedly has plans to announce another automobile called Cerato by the third or fourth quarter of the year.

Honda Atlas, which has been manufacturing automobiles for the past three decades, also has plans to release a new variant of Honda City. Indus Motors Company which House Of Habib owns, a generation of Habib group’s businessmen also intends to launch updated versions of their cars as per reports even though we are yet to receive any official announcements.
