Another Heavenly ‘Chaaro Machi’ Waterfall Discovered In Balochistan

People assume that the only places to explore in Pakistan for vacation are mainly in the northern areas. They couldn’t be more wrong. There are so many beautiful sights that are spread all over the country. In recent years, people have explored some areas of Sindh and Balochistan and found Gorakh Hills and Moola Chotok Waterfall, respectively.

Hidden gems go viral

Tourists started frequenting these places, and in doing so, they started going a bit deeper and a bit further. This is how they have found yet another hidden gem in Pakistan; The waterfall of Chaaro Machi. Considering it is the age of social media, it takes relatively less time for discovery to go viral and people becoming aware of it. And since this discovery is stunning, it will become viral in even lesser time.

Now, when Chaaro Machi waterfall goes viral, it will lead to two things: addition to the touristic destinations in the lower Pakistan side. Too many people visiting it will make the gem not so hidden. And what happens in Pakistan to not-so-hidden gems is that we do not take care of it, and it becomes polluted.

What happens when secret places don’t remain secret

Another significant point of discussion is how we make do with what is available to us. If we discover something, we figure out how to make do with it temporarily. But seeing how it functions well with temporary services, we do not build on it and continue making do with it. This happened at Charna or Moola Chotok or any other touristic destination, at least in lower Pakistan.

Even though these destinations allow us to build resorts and make our tourism industry more strong even for places other than Northern areas, we do not. We see how it is working still without building Charna Island for more activities. We see how we do not need any resorts near the waterfalls, so we make do with a one day trip. And this could be because we know it is not safe to stay in these areas overnight. But these are not unsolvable factors.

Parting idea?

Here is an idea for tourism hotels: Build resorts near or on these tourist destinations. This way, you will be providing tourists with not just your hotel centric activities but also natural activities. I mean, just imagine a resort on top of Charna island overlooking the sea or a hotel just outside the tree coverings because you don’t want to take away the natural essence of the waterfall now, do you?

2020 has been the year of upsets. But what we saw yesterday cannot be forgotten anytime soon. As if to take a U turn on itself, the year is ending some very rare experiences, the latest of which was a Blitzkrieg 50 by Shahid Afridi off just 20 balls (58/23 final score), as the Galle Gladiators – nicknamed GG (an extension of Nadeem owners franchise Quetta Gladiators, PSL champions of Season 4 and Pakistan’s first franchise to feature in another South Asian league) took on Jaffna Stallions (JS) in their first match at Sri Lanka’s most anticipated cricket event ever – the Lanka Premiere League.

The entire Pakistan media scene lit up one more time during prime time, as the 40-year-old Shahid Afridi landed and conquered the Lanka Premiere League from the word go. He was no longer the 40-year-old Afridi, but the 16-year-old we knew and loved in the 90s. With families glued to the TV screens, children were found asking their parents ‘is this another Afridi?’, while most responded ‘No beta, this is the real Afridi’. Some even believe that this is the first of many high flying knocks Afridi will grace the LPL with (SA is known for marrying Sri Lankan bowlers to boundary lines).

Long before the advent of bubble gums and shampoos, Shahid was predominantly Pakistan’s leading leg spinner and fastest run scorer. His epic knock of 102 off 37 balls (1996) vs Sri Lanka came back to life, and showed why he is still Pakistan’s biggest cricket celebrity in the last two decades.

Despite a flamboyant performance by Afridi, GG still couldn’t call it game, with JS completing the tally in just 18.3 overs. With 7 matches still to go for the gladiators, this is their first ever chance of proving that Pakistan league cricket can fight toe to toe against any and all franchises.

Karachi Girl Slaps Mall Guard For Not Opening The Barrier

We are often taught about how violence is never the answer. Wars in history have been fought over the most drastic of issues. When violence is used as the answer to a situation, the situation itself can deteriorate at an alarming rate. Examples throughout history have taught us how it is better to negotiate your way out of a situation rather than fight.

Of course, there are times when war becomes a necessity but it’s, not a decision that should be forced. Similarly, there are countless people in history who speak against any form of violence, who are peace-loving. In recent city happenings, it seems there is an event where violence was practiced. It involved a Mall Guard and a citizen of Karachi! Let us see what exactly happened!

New Regulations:

Due to the pandemic raging across the world, specific regulations have been set in place. The virus had subsided well after the summer ended, but it picked up again a month or two ago. Cases saw another rise; more people were being reported sick. It came to us as a realization that this might be a second wave of Coronavirus

In light of that, every business has seen new Regulations set in place. The newest ones require that malls are closed relatively early, and half of the staff operate in every industry. Indoor gatherings and eateries are banned; only outdoor food is being served. Weddings have seen a ban. These regulations apply to every single one of the people; there are no exceptions. The vaccine hasn’t reached us yet!

What Happened?

So, reported in recent news, what happened was that a female citizen was denied entry into a mall. The mall guard refused to let them in, as per the new regulations. The guard, on orders, would then do their duty and not admit visitors after a specified time. This citizen attempted to enter the premises of the mall after the new regulated time. They were with a passenger.

When they were denied entry, this person started to raise their voice against the Mall Guard. They proceeded to ask the guard how they dared to even think about stopping them. This was followed by the lady attempting to slap the guard. She was then held back and killed by her car’s passenger. Is this how we are supposed to treat our authorities? It shouldn’t matter what class the Mall Guard belongs to, the barrier is their authority, and no one should challenge it.

Treating Others:

How you treat others gives hints towards your personality. The rules are no exceptions for anyone. If the mall timings state that it’s closed to visitors, then it is closed to visitors. The guard is not responsible for setting the timings; they are just doing what they have been asked to. If a person wishes to take it up with someone, they should visit the Managerial wing of the mall and ask them.

One cannot entirely disregard the Citizen, and maybe the Mall Guard did something to infuriate her. If that is the case, why would the passenger, who was with her, attempt to stop her from lashing out and not chew out the Mall Guard instead?

How To Report Domestic Violence In Pakistan

The raging pandemic led to lockdowns, social isolation, and families being trapped in houses. These were, without doubt, some effective ways to limit the spread of COVID-19. But here is the thing, men who are usually the abusers and women who are housewives and the ones getting abused were now trapped with their abusers. Also, those people who are generally not so bad, well unemployments and salary cuts triggered their minds and became prone to be doing the abusing.

Domestic violence cases started rising. And without doubt, the unmapped cases must be much larger in number. So how can victims of domestic violence get help when everything is just so new, so strange in this new world.

Covid can lead to?

Recognizing this need, governments worldwide started establishing protocols to document these cases, rescue the victims, and deal with the perpetrators. The Pakistani government was among those governments. The human rights ministry tweeted about this issue. They said they realize what the children and women must be going through, so they set up a helpline for those who feel unsafe at home.

In the very first week, the helpline received 162 calls. Out of them, one sought help regarding a potential domestic violence case. The rest, according to the ministry, asked about food rations, financial assistance, and covid testing facilities.

How to report?

There are two numbers that you can call the helpline from. From 10 am to 10 pm, anyone can call at 1099, which is a toll-free number. If you can’t use the landline, then you can call 0333-9085709. You can leave a text message or WhatsApp on this same number as well.

What’s more important is that they not only guide the victims in how to get rescued but also refer to legal aid where necessary. The helpline helps connect the women to the right kind of help they need in their particular situation.

According to some sources, the calls have mostly been from urban areas and due to threats from immediate relatives like fathers and brothers. While they decided to seek help, we applaud them. It leads to another critical issue. These people knew they were experiencing domestic violence! Most do not even realize that. And they stay in violent and toxic relationships for years and years. So it is time to spread awareness about what qualifies as violent as well.

What Should Be The Verdict?

HEC Issues New Guidelines After Closure Of Educational Institutions

With the second wave of COVID on the rise, the government has been imposing smart and micro lockdowns anywhere they monitor an increasing number of Covid cases. But even with all these measures, the pandemic seems to spread further. HEC has announced closing all educational institutes from 26th November all the way up to 24th December, after which winter vacations will ensue, which will end on January 10th, 2021.

On Thursday, November 26, HEC issued more guidelines as a follow-up on the matter of institutes’ closure. They reiterated that educational institutes should choose to dispense education through online platforms. They also said that even though they have scheduled January 10 as the end of vacations, they will be reviewing the situation in the first week of January. Should they find that it is still dangerous; the closure might continue.

Additional guidelines

However, not all students will be staying at home. HEC has allowed relaxation for some of them. For instance, low-income students facing connectivity issues at home can come to campus. Alongside them, international students, students doing MPhil, Ph.D., or final year students completing their theses and need access to laboratories, can also go to campus. Medical students in need of clinical training will again be visiting, and the teachers can go to the universities to record their lectures.

HEC added further that:

“The above flexibility is to be exercised most judiciously, and only if the campus presence of the said individuals is essential.”

Even if people are choosing to cash on this relaxation, the total presence on campus cannot exceed 30% of total enrolment.

“Universities will clearly announce their policy on which category is allowed on campus and at what time and with what scrutiny mechanisms or safeguards.”

And it should be noted that HEC has announced a PKR 10 million fund for each public sector university to establish arrangements for online education platforms or supports to improve the existing online platforms further.

This is so that every student can obtain an education without any obstacles. HEC also suggested that to achieve this purpose, making the online education process better, they can choose to recruit tech-savvy students in assisting the faculty with technology problems.

Even though everyone is striving to get used to the idea of the new normal, it will take us time to adjust. Let’s help each other and the authorities out in tackling the pandemic.

Do you remember the film ‘Furious 7’? Yes, it is common information that by the 7th installment, the franchise had taken a huge nosedive. However, there is one aspect of the movie to be noted here. When the group decided to crash a party in Dubai, they were encountered by a supercar. It was a Lykan Hypersport, and there is only a handful of them.

That car, being a supercar, was no less in performance neither was it brittle. Of course, the film’s exaggerating script caused it to jump from one building to the next! However, despite the exaggeration, the Lykan Hypersport is an imposing vehicle. In terms of supercars, a new company has emerged with one; it is the Naran V8 Hyper Coupe!

1. The History

Rewinding slightly back, the world has seen quite a jump in the production of supercars. These are vehicles that have surpassed the limits of everyday modern cars and are residing at the top. Bugatti has also had its hands dipped in this industry. It takes an awful lot of effort and power to make a car go beyond 250 on its speedometer. The Naran Hyper Coupe is one to be trifled with.

The minimum requirement to enter the supercar game is to make sure you’re getting 1, 000hp output, at least. It can go much beyond, but it has to be at least this. The car itself will also cost a ton of money. In the case of Naran, the car is the innovation of Ameerh Naran. He is an Indian-Zimbabwean entrepreneur who shifts his focus from his private jet empire to building high-performance vehicles.

2. The Quantity

Since the cars have a high production value and require an immense amount of effort, not many go into production itself. The Naran company is quite confident in its upcoming super car, though. They intend to make 49 units of the car, all of which will be built in Germany.

It comes as no surprise, however, that the production would be from Germany. The country has had a robust history of automobile manufacturing. Additionally, the Naran Hyper Coupe (Yes, it is a 4 seater) will use BMW M8’s chassis and Suspension.

3. Under The Hood:

Let us open up the bonnet and take a gander inside. Inside, the vehicle is powered by a twin-turbo V8, 4.4litre engine. However, this engine will be tuned to reach hypercar levels, so the 4.4 will jump to 5.0 liter. Speaking the capacity language here, that’s a 5000cc car! They also intend to jump up the turbo size.

All of this, combined, results in 1 048 horsepower. However, Naran claims that there is more room for a higher power. Again, BMW’s ZF 8-Shift will take care of the vehicle’s transmission, and the car will feature an AWD drivetrain. This can, although, be switched to RWD at the push of a button! Is that not impressive?

4. Performance Figures

The company claims that the Naran Hyper Coupe will sprint from zero to sixty in approximately 2.3 seconds. This is a staggering figure for a vehicle of its dimensions. Of course, it is a supercar, and beyond 3 seconds might have been considered slow for it. According to this statistic, it will reach 100 in 4.56 seconds.

The vehicle’s top speed is expected to be 230mph, but it can allegedly go well beyond it. All of this sounds like quite an impressive job for a company new to the supercar world. It has much to do if it intends to compete in the market with titan such as Bugatti’s Chiron Super Sport 300+

5. What Will It Cost?

Yes, this must be one of the most bothering questions on one’s mind. What will be the price of the car? It should not come as a surprise that, being a supercar, it will definitely cost a ton. This car is no different in that regard.

Naran intends to charge its customers $1 136, 950 for an entry-level model. If they intend to make modifications and optimizations to the vehicle, the figure will go much higher.

Details About Samsung S21 Series Allegedly Leak

Samsung is expected to release several phones for its Galaxy Series in January as several leaks suggest. The phones started appearing on certification websites a while back and the latest entry at Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) of a model labeled as SMG996B/DS came into view – that is the latest Samsung Galaxy S21+.

What do the leaks claim?

The following information indicates towards the fact that the release of Samsung Galaxy S21 series is nearby and is expected to be announced soon. Several days ago, a leak about a phone from the same series; which seemed like the smartphone of the lowest-tier in the Samsung Galaxy S21 series emerged on the internet after being listed in BIS Database.

The phone is rumored to have 6.2 inch screen whereas the Plus version is expected to have 6.7 inches with 120Hz OLEDs screen and a resolution of 1080p. Several sources also revealed that Galaxy S21 will have a plastic rear cover with the S21+ and S21 Ultra having a glass back which is expected to be efficient for wireless charging.

The release date of three phones of the flagship series is expected to be 14th January 2021 with Samsung Galaxy S21 having a vanilla colour whereas the S21+ having a bigger screen and the S21 Ultra having the best camera and specifications whose details are yet to be revealed.

Muslim Vogue Model Halima Aden Quits Fashion Over Religion

In the glamorous lights of the fashion industry, having Muslims as your models on the international forums has become a marker of inclusivity. And if they wear hijab, well, that’s cherry on top. So brands, when they hire Muslim models, they do it mostly in a way that they control how a hijab is on display. In innovative ways, they cover the model’s head but take away the model’s agency on practicing her values. Somali-American model, Halima Aden, went through something similar.

Aden became famous when she participated in the Miss Minnesota USA Pageant, competing while wearing hijab and burkini. This was the first time it happened there. She has been doing some fantastic work, and all that in her hijab is breaking the stereotype that a hijab holds you back.

But can it go the other way round? Can the work that your hijab is not stopping could be somehow affecting your hijab? Well, that is something Aden had an epiphany about. In a series of Instagram stories, she shared how she was struggling with her Muslim Hijabi identity.

Mapping The Context

“I can only blame myself for caring more about opportunity than what was actually at stake.” 

She also shared a photo of her from the first fashion campaign she did for Rihanna. She mentioned that Rihanna let her wear the hijab she came with. And this speaks volumes about the struggles of practicing Muslim hijabi models. That they are not allowed to wear what they bring. Instead, the stylists dress them up the way they want, usually the way it highlights the brand’s products. She blamed this on ‘the lack of Muslim women stylists’ in the industry. And it is a fact that people who have a similar identity are better able to understand you.

And thus, it spreads so much in our consciousness sometimes that we leave our values and conform to what has been seen in the mainstream culture. Halima mentions that:

“Fellow Muslim sisters would send me DMs and even publicly tag me at the start of my career to say ‘stop dressing like an old woman’… which made me feel like I was doing something wrong … I remember wanting to be the ‘hot hijabi’ as if that didn’t just defeat the whole purpose. A hot mess is what it was truthfully.”

That’s it!!!

She would miss prayers often, not to mention how a brand made her wear jeans in place of a headscarf. She felt like she lost her style and her style was skirts, long dresses, all with her signature headscarves.

When the jeans incident happened, she remembers how she went to her hotel room and cried, but she was too scared to let go of a fantastic opportunity to advance her further in her career. She ends her statement in a significant way:

“If my hijab can’t be this visible, I’m not showing up, period. This is the standard moving forward if you want to work with me. Come correct or don’t come at all.”

She says that if someone wants her, they can get her on ‘her’ terms. She has put her foot down for anything that remotely hurts her religious values.

About Pari Gul

Pari Gul hails from the Pishin area in Balochistan. She’s brilliant and hard-working (obviously). But did you know that she scored 4th position in the CSS exams in 2017? CSS exams are not everyone’s cup of tea, but they are also incredibly hard. Pari Gul aced them and continued to work with determination until she landed this position.

Her Hopes and Dreams

In Balochistan, she is the first female officer to join the PSP group. She believes it could not have been the case for other females because they are neither allowed nor have the exposure to do so. She mentioned in her interview that the Police uniform always attracted her, so she went for it!

The Backbone of Her Success

Pari Gul mentions that the first person she called after seeing her name was her husband. Her husband has been wonderfully supportive of her throughout. She even says if I am here, “that’s just because of my husband.”

Being the first female police officer in Balochistan is a landmark achievement. To know that we had a woman come forth because her husband supported her is heart-warming. In a country like Pakistan, where husbands are the cause of oppression for many, Pari Gul’s husband shows what it’s like to be a backbone.

Trolls are everywhere on the internet, but public figures get trolled more so than the rest. Some of them accept it as ‘oh, it’s part of the deal’, while others shut off their comments not to allow anyone dumbing down their spirits. But some reply to their trolls, and those replies are so on point that you can’t help but admire their intelligence and their poise in coming up with a response promptly. Sheheryar Munawar recently joined that category.

Parey Hut Love actor was in the news for some days now due to his exceptionally outstanding photoshoot with the gorgeous Syra Yusuf. Whatever people thought of that shoot, I, for one, loved it.

He continued posting some other photoshoots of himself even after the venture with Syra. Considering some people think that just being on the internet gives them permission to troll, they came ready with their license.

This troll tried to make fun of Sheheryar by calling him “Ghareebon k Bradley Cooper” (Bradley Cooper of the poor). Usama from Zindagi Gulzar Hai had the perfect response for this guy. Munawar implied that the troll believes that he has insulted Sheheryar. He said that it was not. And in fact, he was grateful for being associated with a group that puts in hard work to earn for themselves and their families.

Another troll reminded him that he should offer prayers. First of all, how is that linked to his work? Did he, by chance, upload a photo during prayer time? What exactly was the justification? Anyway, we don’t need to do the asking. Sheheryar beat us to that. He replied that not only does he offer prayers five times a day, but whenever possible, he also prays tahajjud. He added that this was his personal matter with God. God can question him on that. In the meantime, the troll should stop doing that on Instagram.
