“Pakistan’s Usman Khan is ranked No 1 in Africa and Middle East Group ranking and No 2 in Olympic Group. He is also the first Pakistani to qualify for Olympics in equestrian category. In FEI (Federation Equestarian International), he is considered Pakistan No 1 event rider. He has won 2 FEI events, where Pakistan secured wins at international events after a period of 13 years.

This world-class Equestrian is living in Melbourne, Australia. In 2019, he qualified for Tokyo Olympics with his horse Azad Kashmir.

Being a dual national, he has an opportunity to ride for Australia or Pakistan. He chose Pakistan. This is the first qualification of Pakistan in the field of equestrian since 1947. Things were going good for him and he was all set to play in the Olympics in July 2020. But the games were cancelled due to COVID19 and things became uncertain. Then came the bigger tragedy when his horse Azad Kashmir died of a heart attack in Sep 2020.

Now Olympics are rescheduled for mid-2021. Only a few horses are available which can be fully trained in the time available before the Olympics. The price tag of a reasonable horse oscillates from $200,000.00 to millions. All relevant sports bodies in Pakistan know of this situation. But are moving at a snail’s pace!

Usman does not have money to buy a horse as he has spent every penny on this sport in the last 15 years. If he does not get a horse at the earliest, he may not be able to train it enough and Pakistan may not qualify (due to delay, more qualifying rounds are planned) giving way to Zimbabwe (reserve team) to be in Olympics.

He had qualified for the previous two Asian Games but could not represent Pakistan due to lack of support from Pakistani sports bodies. In the 2018 Asian Games Jakarta, the Federation backed out one day before flying out. Qatar federation announced free flight for him on their C130 to Indonesia but that was not enough to manage the logistics of such an expansive sport.

Despite these heartbreaking episodes, this man of steel nerves has not given in. I feel that we all must do something to help him take Pakistan into the Olympics and achieve the highest glory as a sportsman. You can play your part by guiding us in anyway you kindly can.

Here are three ways to help him:

  1. Govt to act now. Anyone out of us who can make them move must play their role. Contact senior civil-military Government officials.
  2. A private company’s sponsorship will be the best way in the long term. Usman Khan can be their brand ambassador. Any big company can have this privilege at such a cheap price. He will be a Star after the Olympics. InshaAllah.
  3. People should fund Usman so that Pakistan does not lose the spot in the Olympics. The l crowdfunding has already started.

We need to raise AUD200,000.00. I have collected 10k already, Mashallah, (pledged by friends in the community). And I am launching an Australia wide fundraising campaign with the help of community leaders.  Pakistani diaspora around the globe is requested to do the same.

Santex Products Is Ensuring Feminine Hygiene In Educational Institutions

To promote awareness around the need to have easy access to safe feminine hygiene products and to ensure its availability in educational institutions, Santex Products, a leading local company in sanitary and women hygiene in Pakistan, has partnered with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, where it will supply its Butterfly Breathable range to fill in the four newly-installed feminine hygiene vending machines on IBA’s campuses.

This relatively innovative idea of supplying sanitary napkins in vending machines, set up at different points in the two campuses inside female restrooms, is the first for IBA. The machines will not only ensure easy access to these products but will also help in respecting the privacy concerns of women.

While feminine hygiene is an undisputed right of every female, at least 500 million women and girls are denied this right globally, according to the World Bank. In Pakistan alone, 50 percent of our young girls residing in rural and underprivileged areas are forced to quit school due to lack of access to safe hygiene products and separate sanitation facilities.

The situation is not any better in our urban areas where most women tend to use old rag cloths for their hygiene needs, that too for a much longer period of time than is safe. This might not sound like a big deal, but there is a huge risk of developing serious health issues due to these unsafe practices, such as urinary tract infection, vaginal infection, and toxic shock syndrome, some of which may even turn out to be fatal if left untreated for long.

Despite the essential need for feminine hygiene, the availability of these products in public and private institutions is next to none. The female population in schools, colleges, and universities either has to take care of their needs by themselves or they are left helpless.

In view of this situation, this initiative by Santex Products is a breath of fresh air that would not only answer the hygiene needs of females in their educational institutions and workplaces, but would also help in deconstructing the shame associated with it. Over the last one year, Santex Products has been working towards educating young girls/women on Menstrual Hygiene Management via its Butterfly Outreach Program.

Being a pioneer company that has been working for the personal hygiene needs of the Pakistani women for over 30 years, Santex has continuously worked on bringing innovation in its products with the changing needs of its consumers. Car Breaches In Masjid Al Haram & People Are Questioning The Security!

Every religion has a place at the centre of which lies their Holy Sanctuary. For Christians, Vatican City is the centre hub for all religious activities. The pope resides there, the meetings of the church are held there. It is a city and a country on its own. In the Jewish religion, Jerusalem is where their location lies. They even have a concept of a wall which is filled with paper pieces.

When it comes to Islam, the religious centre point lies in the Holy City of Makkah. Millions and millions and Muslims visit the place every day, every year. It is a Muslin’s dream to place their eyes on the Holy Kabaa and offer prayer in the bounds of Masjid Al Haram. So, it came as quite a shock when a car breached the Holy Masjid!

The Holy City

Makkah is a city that has a vibrant history. It is present from the old world, and it exists till today. The Holy Kabaa stands at the center of Masjid Al Haram. It is the direction of prayer for Muslims throughout every country. Be it a European or Asian nationality; the religion teaches the same and points to the same north. The city was the subject of an impressive Conquest by the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) in the year 8 A.H (After Hijra)

Even before that, the Holy Prophet has spent a substantial time of his life residing in the city. So one can imagine the shock the public got when a rogue car entered the premises of the Masjid. It came out of nowhere and at such a speed, that it could have caused harm to people there!

Internal Investigations

Since the incident, there has been a whole lot of Twitter activity too. The footage of the car entering, as shown above, was captured by one of many cameras in the area. It is shown to swerve violently from side and side and crashing across a barrier. It then continues to move forward until it comes to a stop by crashing a few feet ahead. Even though the police cordoned off the area where the vehicle crashed, they are still going over the details as to what exactly happened

Was the driver drunk when this whole event was occurring? Why did not one try and stop the driver before they started swerving? This Car Breached the boundaries of a holy place and crashed ahead. It could have harmed an immense amount of people since the Masjid is so densely populated at all times.

Coming to results

As released in some news reports, the car was a Beige coloured Hyundai. It came ramming through the 89th Gate of the Masjid Al Haram. Security officials stopped it soon after and the driver was allegedly apprehended. The time of the event was 10:25pm.

We hope that this event has no predecessors and no similar events should follow. It is quite a rage on Twitter as people are asking for the security guards to be fired. They are also stating their expressions and astonishments at the video and the event itself, as seen above and below.

We are glad to know that no one got hurt during this entire ordeal.

vivo Communications Research Institute Releases 6G Series White Papers For A Look Into Digital Life After 2030

Lahore 29 October 2020: While 5G has just started large-scale commercialization around the world, the industry’s research and exploration of 6G is on the agenda. The vivo Communications Research Institute recently released 2 white papers: 6G Vision, Requirements and Challenges and Digital Life 2030. In Digital Life 2030, the institute looks into possible scenarios for digital life in the 2030s. Another white paper offers a preliminary view of the vision for 6G and its goals while analyzing the potential challenges of networks and terminals.

Industry experience shows that the replacement cycle of mobile communication restarts every 10 years.It is expected that 6G will be launched around the year 2030. The 5G network has faster and wider connections with less delays than 4G. Which begs the question: compared with 5G, what are the core features of 6G?

“The 6G era is still a decade away, so it’s very difficult to give concrete answers right now,” said Qin Fei, head of the vivo Communications Research Institute.“However, as the core features of 4G and 5G are connection and digitalization, we can say with confidence that the core features of 6G will be connection+ and digitization+as well as intelligence.” Qin emphasized that 6G won’t simply be equal to 5G+AI technology. Instead, 6G will integrate more radio access technologies, cover a wider physical space, provide stronger basic capabilities such as communication, computing, storage and data, and support ICDT convergence services.

Ten years later, what changes will 6G and other ICTs bring to people’s lives? In the first half of 2020, the vivo Communications Research Institute held an event titled “Imagining Digital Life in 2030” to collect 6G application scenarios. The event was a huge success, drawing more than 800 works from college graduates, and from over 20 digital experts and media professionals.

To make the scenario predictions more realistic, the Institute studied forecast reports of related industries for 2030 and development plans of multiple government institutions for the next 10 years. Their discoveries and a final summary of their work were incorporated into the white paper Digital Life 2030.

In this white paper, the Institute analyzed the projected development trends for 11 aspects closely related to people’s lives for 2030 and beyond and then presented more than 20 vivid scenario use cases. These cases included 60 creative designs of products and services, giving consumers and technicians a vivid image of digital life in 2030 and beyond.

Coca-Cola Finally Introduces Its First Paper Bottle Prototype

Coca-Cola is introducing a paper bottle prototype, and considering the global pollution level, it seems a step in the right direction.

Coca-Cola, a famous soft drink brand, like many similar brands, comes under the spotlight for pollution, especially with global warming, a strengthening issue. So pollution controlling tactics were soon going to appear. And they did because you will soon be seeing Coca Cola paper bottle. The brand has just announced that they will be prototyping their first paper bottle.

How this paper bottle is being presented is that the outer layer will consist of a paper shell that has a plastic liner in it. But fret not, as the brand says, all plastic will eventually end up in an incinerator. The initiative comes as a follow-up to the brand’s World Without Waste commitment. They planned to work with Paboco and also collect cans that amount to the number of beverages sold. They will again be using 100% recyclable material.

The Brand’s stance

Stijn Franssen, EMEA R&D Packaging Innovation Manager at Coca-Cola, said:

“Our vision is to create a paper bottle that can be recycled like any other type of paper, and this prototype is the first step on the way to achieving this. A paper bottle opens up a whole new world of packaging possibilities, and we are convinced that paper packaging has a role to play in the future.”

“The plastic we use is made from 100% recycled plastic that can be recycled again after use. But our vision is to create a paper bottle that can be recycled like any paper. The next step is to find a solution to create a bottle without a plastic liner.”

Coca Cola’s limiting carbon footprint aligns with what Consumers want?

Senior vice president of communications, marketing, and sustainability at Coca-Cola said at the World Economic Forum that their consumers want single-use plastic bottles. The coca-cola paper bottles seem a step in that direction. And while we have to see how successful and useful these bottles are in the future, the idea appears well thought and not just a publicity stunt.

And considering the widespread pollution globally, we need to appreciate these attempts at reducing at least some of it. It’s high time that we started doing something because if we don’t start right about now, 20 years later, the world will be in a non-salvageable condition.

So, what does this development bring about for Apple? Firstly, it marks a historical moment where Apple no longer has to rely on another search engine. Not just searching, but IOS 14 is using other smart tactics too. They are cleverly displaying Apple generated search results on the home screen rather than Google results.

The engine is learning from the user’s queries and providing them with results specific to their needs. Apple has declined to comment on this matter. However, this does mean that Apple is moving ahead at a significant pace. Whether it is the iPhone 12 or the new smartwatch, Apple seems to hover above success.

As per a notice doing rounds in the media, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday sealed Pakistan Mobile Communication Limited’s (PMCL) head office in Islamabad due to alleged non-payment of income tax amounting to Rs25.3 billion for the year 2018.

The decision to seal the head office comes as a huge surprise and raises quite a few eyebrows. For starters, the notice by FBR’s Inland Revenue department citing the disputed tax demand was dispatched to PMCL on Wednesday and without providing ample time to respond, the matter quickly escalated with LEAs and FBR agents forcefully sealing the head office on the same day.

The breast oncoplastic and reconstructive surgeon, with Asma Nabeel, talked about the victims’ struggles and their treatment processes and tackled several myths related to breast cancer.

The best part about this session was that KFC kept the session open for questions. Throughout the program, people kept sending in their questions, such as which age group is more susceptible to breast cancer or if contraceptives make women more vulnerable.

The Turkish chef Burak Ozdemir, more commonly known as CZN Burak, is coming to Pakistan very soon.

Based in Turkey, he went viral all over on social media for making giant-sized foods. 9GAG also reposted one of Burak’s videos where he made his signature Kebabs. He often posts videos on his Instagram account and has garnered more than 17 million followers on the platform.

And considering he makes giant dishes, he makes use of giant-sized utensils, and that makes his videos even more interesting to look at.

This Turkish chef was found visiting the embassy of Pakistan in Istanbul on Monday. From there, he announced that he would be coming to Pakistan soon, and he said it all in Turkish as well as Urdu.

KIA To Revamp Brand With New Logo Starting 2021

South Korean Automotive Manufacturing titan KIA is ready to head into 2021 with new ambitions and goals, and a new logo.

KIA is not the only manufacturer to revamp its business identity. Auto giants including Volkswagen, BMW, Toyota, and even Nissan have taken a similar path.

The company displayed the new logo they want to aim for with the announcement of the 2019 KIA Concept Car.

The 3-letters are sleeker, have a futuristic touch, and now connecting with each other. Most importantly, the logo no longer has the circular symbol which the brand had been wearing since the beginning of time.

The brand officially confirmed the arrival of the new logo back in February as patent filings leaked. Now, it has confirmed that the new brand logo will come out of production starting next year.

The entire revamping and shifting process has been given the name, ‘Plan S’. Kia’s global CEO, Ho Sung Song, wants Plan S to be carried out in early 2021.

According to a report from Automotive News, Song wants the brand to be “more dynamic, stylish, and inventive,” moreover, the brand will focus more on electric vehicles.

KIA plans on rolling out at least 11 EVs by 2025 with a whopping investment of $25B to back the plan up.

KIA Wants To Bring 800V Fast Charging To Affordable EVs!

“We have to prepare ourselves with advanced countermeasures for all these,” Song shared in an interview. “We will try to set up our new customer target together with our brand relaunch.”

KIA’s newest EV will be priced moderately as per the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which it will share with Hyundai. Making EVs affordable for the masses, the aim of KIA is to dominate at least 20% of global sales by 2025.

The KIA Concept is a cross-over idea between a coupe and a futuristic electric vehicle. KIA initially unveiled the concept vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show and blew fanatics off their feet.

We are creating it as we speak. This is the start of a process, but you will see soon the result,” Kia design boss Luc Donkerwolke told Auto Express. It truly looks like a futuristic coupe that has a lot of technologically advanced features to offer its passengers.

“I don’t see anything that’s really not feasible,” Donkerwolke told Auto Express about the Imagine’s appearance. “There are some cost-related issues that have to be validated; it hasn’t been done by designers who don’t understand how to build a car for production.”

In November 2018 Donckerwolke replaced Peter Schreyer as leader of design operations for the entire Hyundai Motor Group. The promotion put him in charge of the styling of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.
