Top 5 Popular COVID-19 Myths Finally Busted!

coronavirus myths
PC: Naya daur

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has become one of the most talked-about topics around the world.

Be it on social media or word of mouth; it has everyone talking. Unfortunately, most of the information available online is not authentic.

Several articles and other information are surrounding it that has no verification. The World Health Organization (WHO) has shared several COVID-19 myths that need some busting!

Myth #1 – COVID-19 is a Bacteria

This is false. Coronavirus is not a bacteria; it’s a virus that belongs to a virus family called Coronaviridae.

However, a sick individual who has been infected by COVID-19 may develop a bacterial infection due to complications.

Another point that needs to be highlighted here is that antibiotics don”t work against viruses which is why it is essential no one self-medicates.

Myth #2 – 5G Causes the Spread of COVID-19

This is yet again, false. Viruses are not capable of being able to be transferred from one place to another via radio waves or signals.

COVID-19 has a firm grip over several countries who have reported a massive number of cases but don’t even have 5G technology!

The truth is that COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets from when an infected person someone sneezes, coughs, or talks.

It is also possible to catch the Virus after touching a contaminated surface.

Myth #3 – You Can Confirm if you have the Virus Doing the 10-Second Test

When the spread of COVID-19 first started in Pakistan towards the end of February, social media was full of several self-conducting tests and home remedies that can detect/cure the Virus.

The truth is that holding your breath for 10-seconds without feeling discomfort will not confirm whether or not you have the Virus. The only way to know is by an authentic test done by the testing-kit in a lab.

Myth #4 – Taking a Hot Bath or Drinking Hot Water will Prevent Coronavirus

Nor taking a hot bath or drinking warm water will help prevent the Virus from attacking a body.

Taking a scorching shower can be harmful as you may end up sustaining burns or get dehydrated in the shower.

The best preventive measures one can take against the Virus is to stay away from large crowds, frequently wash hands, and wear masks to prevent your hands from touching your mouth/face.

Myth #5 – Coronavirus Only Affects Older People & Younger People Always Recover

COVID-19 doesn’t have anything to do with whether you are old or young. Anyone anywhere can catch this Virus, even newborns.

However, when it comes to recovering, younger bodies have a better working immune system and metabolism, which helps them improve faster compared to older individuals and younger children.

On the other hand, those with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the Virus.

This is why such individuals are requested to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid the transmission of the Virus as it can be fatal.

These are just a handful of myths surrounding the Virus. There are several more!

Which myths have you recently busted? Share them with us in the comments below.

3 Ways Nepotism Is Taking Over Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry

nepotism

After the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, there were a lot of protests against nepotism in Bollywood. Fans criticized star kids and directors and producers who supported them.

Pakistani actors, too, tweeted about the tragic incident and showed support for mental health. On 24th Jun, about ten days after Sushant’s death, Pakistani actress Iffat Omar tweeted. In her tweet, she targeted Pakistani actors who were sharing news of criticism on Karan Johar. She asked them about nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

Before Iffat Omar, young actress Noor Khan also admitted the existence of nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

In a 2018 interview to Express Tribune, she said, “Yes, nepotism does exist. Sarah was an established actor when I joined the industry, but it’s not only (aimed at) a newcomer”.

Noor Zafar Khan is Sabaat starring Sarah Khan’s sister. She further added, “It doesn’t matter if you’ve just started or you’ve been in the industry for long… I don’t see it ending anytime soon.”

Pakistani actors who got work because of nepotism

Many of the popular actors and actresses in the Pakistani Entertainment Industry are related to producers, directors, screenwriters, or other senior actors. Behroze Sabzwari’s son Shahroz Sabzwari and Javed Sheikh’s children Shehzad Sheikh, and Momal Sheikh are all part of the Sabzwari-Sheikh clan.

Additionally, Zara Noor Abbas, currently starring in Zebaish, is popular actress Bushra Ansari’s niece and Asma Abbas’s daughter. The whole family, along with Zara’s husband Asad Siddiqui and Bushra’s alleged husband Iqbal Hussain, are part of the drama.

nepotism

Acclaimed actor Ahad Raza Mir is also famous actor Asif Raza Mir’s son. Furthermore, Sheheryar Munawwar Siddiqui is the nephew of Sultana Siddiqui, the CEO of Hum TV.

Even child actors Pehlaj and Shees Gul are related to people from the industry. Alif starring Pehlaaj is Sar e Aam anchor Iqrar ul Hassan’s son. Shees is a famous screenwriter, Sajjad Gul’s son (popularly known as Saji Gul). Saji Gul has written many prominent plays, including Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan, starring O Rangreza.

Nepotism’s effects on the Pakistani entertainment industry

Here are three ways nepotism is taking over Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry:

1. No opportunities for new talented actors

Firstly, one of the most significant setbacks of nepotism, everywhere, is that deserving people do not get acknowledgment. In Pakistani dramas and films, actors who are related to others are given priority. Production houses ignore talented actors or limit them to small projects.

2. Lack of decent content

Secondly, nepotism is, perhaps, also one of the reasons that we are stuck to these boring and dragged storylines. Pakistani drama industry seems to be in dire need of good storylines and excellent execution. Almost every channel is airing dramas related to second marriages, extra-marital affairs, and all of this trash.

3. Sense of entitlement

Lastly, the widespread nepotism, in an industry, invokes a sense of entitlement among nepoti. They believe that it is something they have the right to be entitled about. They don’t take criticism well. The recent response of Bushra Ansari to her drama’s negative review says it all.

What do you think about nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry? Let us know in the comments below.

We can’t say that vlogging is the new in. It has been going on for quite some time. And we have seen quite a few vlogger celebrities emerge. With millions of followers, they are the group that the public relates to more than the film and television celebrities. Seeing that, they even get brand ambassadorships. Long story short, with such fame comes great responsibility. So, as a vlogger, you need the best possible cameras. Here are 5 DSLR cameras to buy if you are looking!

1. Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III

So let’s start with some techy stuff. This camera offers a 20.4 MP camera and has a monitor screen of a 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen. And you can connect it to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so upload it directly to your computer and get your editing started. So the pros of this camera should you choose to buy them are that it has impressive video specs and incredible image stabilization. The cons are that handgrip is not appropriately prominent. And it has no headphone jack.

2. Canon EOS M50

This camera is incredibly fantastic with a 24.1 MP camera. But if you plan to shoot 4K video, then this camera is not for you. That said, if you reached heights of vlogging through by shooting on a smartphone and are now shifting to the camera, you could surely go ahead with this one. Keep in mind; it has a mandatory 1.6x crop.

3. Fujifilm X-T4

TWENTY-SIX POINT ONE MEGAPIXELS!!!

I mean, that is just amazing. This one has a 3.0-inch tilt-angle touchscreen for the monitor. And so you can record a fantastic video for your blog. But again, it has no headphone jack, so you cannot know how well your voice got taken until you transfer the video into your computer, and you begin editing. And that is when you find out how many ominous noises were in the background. And you have to reshoot it all That too, at a camera which has a recording limit.

4. Sony A6400

Superb autofocus, bright viewfinder, great video features, what else do you need for an outclass vlog? And just by the way, Sony’s alpha series is already very popular with the vloggers. So you can rest assured this camera will keep up with its legacy. Just one thing to note, it does not have in-body image stabilization.

5. Panasonic G100

It has a compact design. The feature sets of this camera are very video-focussed. It weighs 345g, and that’s not an insufficient weight. Although if you are making a very long vlog, then maybe get a camera stand as well. The resolution offers in 20.3 MP, which is not bad, right? The movie resolution is 4K at 30p. And once again, it provides both Wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

But choices are not limited to just these 5. There are many more cameras appropriate for vlogging out there. So when looking for DSLR Cameras to buy, make the right decision because your reputation as a vlogger is at stake.

Travel 2020: 5 Affordable Hotels In Istanbul You Should Consider

affordable hotels in istanbul

Currently, Turkey is the hotspot for nearly every Pakistani travel freak. But while COVID may have given us vacations, it certainly has not added much to our budgets. So when travelling to Turkey we need to ensure that we are travelling intelligently. And the best way to do that is to ensure you get a good or at least an average hotel at an affordable price. Here are some affordable hotels in Istanbul that you can look at when making your plans.

Also, we have looked up these rates for the time when Istanbul is overflowing with tourists. So if you are thinking that the prices may rise then you don’t have to worry much because if they are charging this in a tourist centric month, how high can they go a few months away from that?

1. Antusa Design Hotel & Spa

For a 7 day trip, Antusa Design Hotel is charging PKR 63,739. You may find variations if you look at other websites such as booking.com or trip.com. The best part about this hotel is that it has 5 out of 5 rating on Trip Advisor and is just 300 meters away from Basilica Cistern. Aside from that, the hotel provides a bar, a shared lounge, a fax machine (not that you will be using it), and a buffet breakfast. Other than that, the hotel gives you air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a kettle, a shower, a hairdryer, a wardrobe, free toiletries.

2. Hotel Sultan Hill

With PKR 49,159 for a 7-day trip, Hotel Sultan hill has shuttle bus service and a rooftop service. This one also has a free breakfast service which is great if you are travelling on a budget. It saves you the money of one-time food. You will also have access to some Istanbul attractions such as Anadolu Hisari Fort, Ihlamur Pavilion, and Yildiz Chalet, which are some popular castles. And the rest, well, you can access them through the easy access tram. Moreover, according to the reviews, the rooms and toilets were very clean.

3. Best Western Empire Palace

You can get a room in this hotel for a whole week and that too in PKR 59,513. It is located in Sultanahmet which puts you in walking distance to Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, and Topkapi Palace among other attractions.

4. Ayasofya Hotel

With the very name of the most popular tourist attraction, the hotel is located in Sultanahmet. They charge almost PKR 61,100. And this is affordable if you are travelling for like a 7 day period. They also provide the usual free breakfast, free wifi. But that said, it will not be the first suggestion I give you considering they have had some really bad incidents that people talked about on Booking.com.

5. Hotel Darussaade Istanbul

Ending our list with another amazing hotel. Every other review on Booking.com and Trip Advisor has been great. And they also cost PKR 52,000 which is lesser than the Ayasofya hotel. So here is that plus point about the hotel. Other than that, they provide a safe and friendly environment to their guests.

Affordable hotels in Istanbul are not really a far cry. If you do proper research you can totally find them and they will fit in your budget beautifully. But if you are postponing your travel plans just because you can’t find the right hotel, this article is your messiah my friends.

5 Dangerous Eating Habits You Should Stop Right Away

eating habits

For someone like me, eating is very close to the heart. Their whole lives revolve around food. The love for food is so strong that at times, they surf the internet for food pictures. Okay, that sounds obsessive so we are going to go a step back. The point here is that the food is love, yes, but can some of us have dangerous eating habits? Definitely. Here is a list of some of those habits, if you have them, you should stop right away.

1. Skipping Breakfast

Now, many of you think that if you skip breakfast, it will help you lose weight. Or some other people consider breakfast to be unimportant so they skip it in between their busy schedule. DON’T DO THAT!

Breakfast is very important in your routine. It gives you enough energy to remain efficient and active throughout the day. And it doesn’t matter how heavy your breakfast is because your body’s metabolism is at its peak in the morning so it all gets used up and doesn’t contribute to you gaining weight.

2. Late night eating

Recently, with the lockdown in place people have witnessed changing sleep cycles. And due to them remaining awake until late, they get hungry and snack away at 1 or 2 am. They call it midnight snacks but they are not snacks really. In fact, they are, at most times, laced with cheese (hint: mac n cheese). These snacks are dangerous because you sleep after consuming them, and not work it off.

3. Cleanse / detox

Many people assume that they should go on strict dieting with cleansing and detox to lose weight. It promotes the wrong mindset that you can eat anything for like a week because you can eventually go on a cleanse. No. cherish your body from the get-go. Plus, your body has a natural system for a cleanse so don’t worry if you have one cheat day in your eating schedule, your body will recover itself.

4. Adding salt

Salt gives taste. But when you start adding more and more salt every day to your food even before tasting it, you have a problem. If you have lots of sodium in your system you will start having heart problems. So its better to avoid salt and if you really want taste then go for salt alternatives amongst natural herbs.

5. Eating Junk Food

Junk food, need I go further? All those fries, chips, biscuits, crackers, they are all junk foods. They do provide comfort so I am not saying that you should completely cut them out of your life. But you can limit it at least. If you are eating particular junk food 3 times a day, limit it to one. Then make it 3 days a week and eventually one day a week. It will help you a lot.

Regardless of how much you love anything, it should always be consumed in moderation at specific times. So you should abandon dangerous and unhealthy eating habits that exist in your routine, and you will lead a healthier and more active life.

That’s not all. The Sindh government has also announced, in order to reduce car theft, they will introduce a biometric system. All vehicle sales and purchases, under the system, will be linked with THE National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).

The Excise Department of Sindh will introduce chip-based number plates with Ajrak design for all vehicle owners in the province.

These technologically advanced number plates are expected to be launched for both motorcycles and cars by the end of 2020.

Secretary Excise Abdul Haleem Shaikh has ordered the manufacturing of these plates according to reports. In the first phase, a batch of 300,000 will be produced.

When scanned, the chips will give all information about the vehicle owner and of the car itself. The chip will also be a more technological way of tracking cars if reported stolen.

Coronavirus-Inspired Dessert Goes Viral – Would You Try It?

coronavirus

Coronavirus has hit Czech Republic quite hard. With covid infected number piling up, Czech republic has imposed a state of emergency. So this goes without saying that the country has been suffering from the pandemic with much intensity. And considering the businesses have also suffered due to travel restrictions, the businesses need to get a little more innovative in order to recover from this loss.

Coronavirus Cake/ Virus Cake

And, amidst all that, Prague has found a way to do just that. A little cafe in Prague invented a cake that looks like a picture of coronavirus circulating on the internet. It has been named the ‘virus cake’. And the moment it went up on the internet it became not just the talk of the town but the talk of the world with publications covering the news in the US and South Asia.

The café is known as Black Madonna and is located in the historical Old Town District on Celetná street. And ever since the cake went viral, people are flooding that street to get a taste of a non-dangerous edible corona. Well, non-dangerous only to a certain extent considering too much sugar is always bad.

https://www.facebook.com/cernamadona/posts/1240788492965890

The Dessert Creator

Now, let us talk a little about the dessert itself. Olga Budnik said that in order to come up with the design, the cafe took inspiration from the available photo on the internet. And after figuring out everything about the shape, they decided to put it into effect. The final look comprised of ingredients such as chocolate, pistachio, and raspberry. The chocolate covers the pistachio raspberry filling which is almost a tennis ball size. The white chocolate and dried raspberry constitute the virus spikes.

Olga Budnik in conversation with a publication said:

“I found a photo of the virus on the internet. I figured out in detail how to make the dessert – how to make the spikes, what the colour would be like, and I prepared it all.”

This Brave Rickshaw Driver Lost His Eyes While Saving Two Female Passengers

Sometimes there are unsung heroes in our life whose help is a favour so great, you can never return it. One of them is Zafar Lala, a rickshaw driver who protected two of his female passengers.

The Outcome of Bravery In Our World

Zafar Lala worked as a rickshaw driver in Saddar Peshawar. On a day that seemed regular, he got two female customers whom he agreed to take on. Unfortunately, those two women started being chased by a couple of men.

Zafar thought it his duty to go and resist the men. Resist he did but the outcome was that he returned with acid thrown on his face. The merciless men who were chasing Zafar Lala’s passengers threw acid on his face when he tried to stand up against them, he lost both his eyes.

Humanity Is Not Dead

A kind soul on Twitter set himself on a journey to help the brave rickshaw driver. Zafar was immediately admitted to Prime Teaching Hospital where he was awaiting his eye surgery.

Amir Hamza Khan, who was collecting donations for Lala, kept urging people to donate as much as possible for this kind soul. Lala has two daughters, aged 8 and 12 and his wife has also passed away. He now seeks monthly help since he is without vision.

Clearly, humanity is not dead because from the updates on Twitter, the donations crossed the 200K mark! An anonymous person has also agreed on the monthly expenditure.

A One of A Kind Soul

Zafar Lala, the brave rickshaw driver, is truly a one of a kind person. Even with acid thrown on his face he had a smile and he was hopeful that one day he will regain his vision. See these videos of him with his doctor, they’ll make your day.

 A Dead-end Road

Countless women are harassed and followed every time they board a public transport or even when they are driving alone. Refresh your memories and think of Dua Mangi. She was walking with her male friend on one of the busiest streets of Karachi when she was abducted. When her friend tried to resist and protect her, he was shot in his neck.

There’s no relief either for the women who become targets and also for the men who are better than the rest.

Tip #2- Prioritize The List

The major problem with days like Black Friday is that many don’t even get a chance to buy what they need over what they want and some don’t end up with either. Hence, you need to prioritize your items according to your budget. Don’t get caught up buying junk and missing out on the limited stock.

Tip #3- Check Prices In Advance

PC: PhoneWorld

To be ahead of the game, you need to check all prices beforehand. This will help you understand how much you are saving, and if it worth buying the product during the sale. Sometimes vendors try to take advantage of customers by giving minimal discounts and altering the original price.

Tip #4- Add to Cart

Save time and money by adding items you are interested in your cart. This will help you find what you are looking for with ease. You can always consider bookmarking tabs as well incase the cart might go blank.

Tip #5- Don’t Compare Prices

comparing Prices
PC: Webkul

You’ll be wasting a lot of time and making too much effort to try and price-match. Most platforms and brands turn their tools off on big sales. You’ll just have to go with your gut feeling and ask yourself is this the best price you can get on the product and go along with it before it runs out of stock.

Tip #6- Score Early Deals

Many e-commerce platforms and brands let customers make most of the annual Black Friday sales even before Friday. Usually, many of them have sales going on up to a week prior to the actual event, which gives you plenty of time to snoop around.

The Reality Behind Black Friday & How Pakistani Brands are Celebrating it!

Tip #7- Know The Return Policy

Got a faulty item? You may not be able to return it! Many customers add to cart and purchase lots of items worth thousands without reading the fine print. It is important to know if the item, if faulty, can be returned and if you can get your money back.

Ayeza Khan Under Fire For Endorsing Faiza Beauty Cream

Ayeza Khan

Ayeza Khan has been one of the most loved actresses in the Pakistani industry. With hits left, right and center, she has proved that you need the talent to succeed. If you are talented, you will still get back to back lead roles even if you are married and have two children. This point is worth mentioning considering our industry conveniently forgets an actress if she gets on with her personal life.

Ayeza Khan with her morals

Aside from her fantastic performance, Ayeza has a huge fan following for much more than just her talent. She has set up a standard for herself, a set of morals and values, and refuses to compromise on that. It was visible when a conversation on the choice of her dresses made rounds all over social media.

In a show, Ayeza claimed that her designer had to foolproof convince her that the intended dress for the day was not at all revealing. Following that, many interviewers asked her about it and her general wardrobe choices. There she made it clear that this is one of her markers upon which she never compromises. And at the end of the day, it is not really about wearing revealing clothes or not; it is about choosing a set of standards for herself. Regardless, her fans loved her for it.

Beauty Cream?

But when a person with such set morals commits an act that seems insincere, it shakes up the followers. And we saw Ayeza doing precisely that. She starred in a Faiza Beauty Cream ad. Now it’s not a hidden fact that the beauty cream endorses light skins. And to promote it, Ayeza gave a speech that gave the entire credit of her fame to Faiza Beauty Cream.

Her exact words (translated) were: This consistent fame over time is because of my confidence, and I have had it because of Faiza Beauty Cream.

Hurt Fan Following

Agitated fans couldn’t suppress their feelings and showered their hurt and anger all over social media. The overall gist of that hate was their disbelief over the claim that Ayeza could have used this specific beauty cream even if she did and for this long a time.

Ayeza Khan

We would like to give a side note to Ayeza here. Ayeza, the audience is not stupid. They want someone for their talent. And if you are at that height, it is because the audience recognized your talent. You are a talented woman, and it is not because of any beauty cream.

Given that Pakistani women already live with an inferiority complex over their skin color, if you are endorsing using a beauty cream to have reached your height, it is very irresponsible.

5 Ways To Keep Your Car Interior Looking As Good As New!

5 Ways To Keep Your Car Interior Looking As Good As New!
PC: ecomento.de

Clean cars are the ones that last longer compared to vehicles that only looked after once in a while. If you want your asset to last you for what you’ve paid for, you need to keep the exterior as well as the car interior crisp.

Keeping the car’s interior compared to the exterior can be a bit challenging. You have seats, mats, and a lot going on inside. Not to forget, there are many hard-to-reach places.

Moreover, if you have kids or clumsy passengers, then there’s always food or something dripping and spilling. This can leave a foul odor and can damage the car’s body. Hence, if you want the interior looking as good as new, here’s what you need to do!

5 Things You Should Know About Self-Driving Cars!

5 Ways To Keep Your Car Interior Looking As Good As New!

1. Use Quality Window Film

Quality can make a big difference when it comes to expanding your car’s lifespan. When the vehicle is stagnant, it is standing for countless hours under the harsh UV rays given off by the sun. These rays enter via the bare windows and cause damage to the seats, dashboard, and interior trimming.

Eventually, the lifespan of the car interior decreases, and it costs you a lot of money to repair. The best solution to this problem is by using a high-quality window film. The film stops the UV rays from causing damage to the inside and reflects it out.

2. Weekly Vacuuming

PC: Car From Japan

They say that its human nature if you do something regularly for more than 20 days, it eventually becomes a habit. Similarly, make it a practice of conducting a weekly vacuuming activity.

This will help maintain an odor-less interior, will suck any food dropping or dust bunnies that are currently living in the car. If you own a pet, the vacuum will clean any air and will help keep allergens at bay esp. if you’re allergic to dust.

3. Replace Your Mats Once In A While

mats

Consider replacing your car mats once in a while. Sometimes, vacuums and other cleaning methods are useful to take off the dirt and other particles, but eventually, the mats wear out. They ultimately get torn and have holes.

Trust me, when I saw passengers would know they have their feet placed on old smelly mats! Plus, it will add to your car’s fresh look!

4. Clean Out The Dash

Your dashboard is your locker inside a car. You put everything inside of it, from keys to papers to your wallet and phone, and at times junk! For anything you need to get rid of, your dashboard comes to the rescue.

However, an excellent cleanup of the dash is not a bad idea. Consider doing it bi-monthly or monthly according to your availability. You do not want dust and other particles to settle inside and give you a hard time driving.

5. Take Care Of The Leather

leather seats
PC: Art of cleanliness

Often the most common mistake drivers make when cleaning the car interior is using harsh chemicals unsuitable for the leathered seats and trims. Not all compounds can be used to clean leather. The chemicals will destroy their quality and can cause an unpleasing odor. Hence, only use substances that are made explicitly for leather fabric.
