Sex education is not the need of the hour in Pakistan. Instead, it has been the need for the decades in our country. This three-letter word frightens people as if it embodies the spirit of the devil itself, and anything related to it must be shrouded in secrecy.

And that is precisely why our culture, the health of our women and gender relations in Pakistan are deteriorating.

1. Sex Education Is Essential

Sex education, contrary to popular belief, does not only teach how to perform intercourse. It introduces a host of other lessons that are important for young boys and girls to understand their bodies.

When sex education is denied in Pakistan, most young adults gather their information from dramatized movies or pornography. This is incredibly harmful to their health and their perception because both forms are staged, fiction (that’s not real life), and controlled environments.

2. Helps Girls Prepare For Periods

Oracle Wins TikTok Bid For U.S Operations, Microsoft Gets The Boot

In a race to win the auction, companies from across the United States showed their interest in owning the right to TikTok.

In an unseen turn of events, Oracle Corp. won the bidding for the U.S operations of TikTok. What came as an even bigger surprise was that the company won against Microsoft Corp.

According to an article by the Wall Street Journal, Oracle is set to be announced as TikTok’s “trusted tech partner” in the U.S.

Moreover, the deal is likely not to be structured as an outright sale. Now that Oracle has won the bid, the next step in the process is for the White House and Committee on Foreign Investment to ink the deal.

For those who are unaware, TikTok had been facing a tough time by the US government over concerns about data security.

Hence, to continue its operations in the country, the government allowed companies to place bids. The auction for operation rights will help put an end to the US government’s concerns about TikTok being a threat to data and even national security.

The complete structure of the deal with Oracle is still unclear at this point. This also includes the structure of TikTok’s popular algorithms and the artificial intelligence tech it uses.

TikTok has been in hot waters for some time now, not only in the United States but in several other countries, including Pakistan as well.

5 TikTok Rivals That Are Entering The Market!

The Pakistani government reached out to the parent company ByteDance to address their concerns, hoping to find a middle ground. TikTok also issued community guidelines (in Urdu) to help the users stay safe on the platform.

Pakistani citizens have filed many complaints against the video-dubbing platform over several reasons, which include indecent content and concerns in regards to young children being unsafe on the forum.

According to Bloomberg, a ‘source’ who did not want to be identified as the information is not yet publicly shared; the deal is likely to include a stake in a newly configured American business but will look more like a corporate restructuring than an outright sale.

Another ‘source’ shared that the terms between ByteDance and Oracle are still evolving. However, a third ‘source’ shared that it is unclear at the time if whether or not a deal with Oracle will win-over the Trump Administration.

Another ‘source’ also shared here that the existing stakeholders in ByteDance will be given a chance to share their two cents. Meanwhile, both Oracle and ByteDance have declined to provide any official statement on their ends for now.

YouTube has released a special YouTube Ads Leaderboard that features the advertisements that were most viewed on the platform and have helped people in the U.S stay at home during the pandemic.

The list is based on data from March 17th to April 22nd from YouTube. The 12 videos have a combined total of more than a whopping 32 million views! YouTube had a special algorithm to track the views and also asked people to fill in a review to ensure the ads encouraged social distancing.

Realtor.com’s Head of Brand and Chief Creative, Andrew Strickman mentioned in a statement,

Will Tokyo Be The Only Survivor?

Among other theories regarding the series, people have also suggested that maybe Tokyo will be the only survivor. People have also presented proper evidence to support their theory. For instance, the series started with:

“My name is Tokyo. But when this story began, that wasn’t my name.”

This hints towards Tokyo narrating the story in the end. Does that ring a bell? If Tokyo is narrating the story it means that she has survived and is present to recount all of it in the end.

Flashbacks From Tokyo’s Past – Is That A Hint?

Also, some photos from behind the scenes suggest that in season 5 Tokyo will be seen missing her boyfriend who she had lost in a robbery incident. Going back into Tokyo’s past in the final and most decisive season of the series means that it has some connections to the current story and plot, no? Well, at least that is what we are assuming.

Tokyo has enjoyed having the most essential role and being a key character throughout the series. Tokyo has been narrating the series and everything comes back to her in the end even if the episode initially focuses on other characters. Hence, saying that the series revolves around Tokyo would not be an understatement.

What About the Rest of The Crew?

Also, since many of the main fan-favorite characters such as Berlin and Nairobi have already been killed in season 2 and 4 respectively, it is safe to assume that the rest of the crew will also be dead by the end of season 5. However, except for Tokyo (of course) because who is narrating the story then? Eh?

We Can’t Wait!

Although nothing is certain, we are sure that season 5 is going to put a crazy end to the series. We can’t wait for Netflix to release the final season of our favorite crime thriller. Can you?

Karachi’s renowned gymnasium ‘Atmosphere Fitness’ opened up its female wing today, a dedicated unit measuring 8000 Square feet. The gym had started creating a hype about something exclusive coming for its female audience via its social media assets, which was unveiled today within its community members and stirred up excitement among female gym enthusiasts.

Mustafa Shabbir Hussain, honorary director at Atmosphere Fitness, shared his views regarding the new wing. “We always had the vision to open a dedicated state of the art fitness facility for both genders so that the people working around the financial hub of the city can access a health center that has excellent locality and can offer a workout space while on the way to work or after it.”

The gym hosts a wide range of cardio and strength equipment, now with dedicated wings for both the genders. The floor of the gym cumulatively measures an excess of 20,000 square feet. Team members from the gym claim it as the most extensive fitness venture in Karachi and possibly in Pakistan.

It was, therefore, necessary for the Atmosphere to become female inclusive, especially as that is a broad audience to cater to. “These are the times when women are realizing how important it is to look after themselves, and in the past few years, women around our city have actively adopted a better and a fitter lifestyle,” Mustafa added.

Atmosphere Fitness is a project of the ‘Dawoodi Bohra Community,’ housed inside the ‘Al-Nadi Al-Burhani Sports Academy,’ offering courses in outdoor sports including Horse Riding, Archery, and a cricket ground designed according to international standards.

Iffat Omar – A Threat To Feminism

Iffat Omar, a self-proclaimed feminist and passionate advocate of women empowerment, has, in the same show, stated how the #MeToo movement is close to her heart. We have seen her talking about women’s rights and gender equality, time, and again.

However, the recent turn of events has left us skeptical about her notion of equality. People like Omar not only misrepresent such stances but also overshadow the efforts and dismiss any progress that’s been made after long periods of suffering.

Such people are problematic for the entire society but also (specifically) for the likes of their gender. When a supposedly devoted and zealous ‘feminist’ goes on promoting ‘tharak’ openly and then justifying it, the stance of every single feminist comes into question. Feminism does not support harassment of any sort. People like Iffat Omar do not represent feminists.

3. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto

He traveled to the United Kingdom in June 1950 at Christ Church, Oxford, and received an LLB degree in Law followed by an LLM degree in Law and an M.Sc (honors) degree in Political Science.

4. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Here’s a list of 5 things that you should never share with anyone at all.

1. Earphones

A lot of us are habitual of sharing earphones or headphones with our friends and mates at work. Although it might seem insignificant, this habit can be extremely harmful to us. You wouldn’t want to offer you earphones to someone who might have some sort of ear infection. Would you?

2. Water Bottle

One of the most commonly shared items among friends and even strangers is a water bottle. Anyone can run out of water or be in dire need of it at any time, anywhere. And you can’t possibly say no to someone who asks you for some.

However, you can keep an extra disposable cup/glass with you for times like these. Letting people drink from your water bottle can expose you to infections.

3. Spoon/Fork/Glass

Sharing the same spoon, fork, or glass while eating with buddies is a widespread practice, especially in Pakistan. Sensibly, spoons, forks, and glasses should not be shared among people.

Normalize using your own dining accessories and urge your friends to do the same. Sharing the same eating utensils can usher the spread of viruses and bacteria, making everyone vulnerable to infections and diseases.

4. Makeup Accessories

Have you shared your lipstick with your girlfriends, at least once? A guilty pleasure indeed, but you need to stop right away! Although we do not pay much attention to this but to be very honest, your makeup accessories are YOURS only and should not be used by anyone else.

I know this sounds mean, but hygienically, this is how it should be. While sharing your lipstick or makeup brushes with your beloved friend, you might as well be sharing your bacteria with them.

Advisably, you should keep an extra lip balm or lipstick in your bag at all times. If your friend loves makeup, gift them some on their birthday. Not only will they love their birthday present but also they’ll stop asking for yours.

5. Hair Brushes and Combs

Girls and boys are equally guilty of sharing hairbrushes and hair combs. It might not be a big deal for many of us; however, it is in fact a grossly unhygienic practice. Sharing hair brushes aids the transmission of bacteria, fungus, mites, etc.

Also, hairbrushes provide a perfect environment for bacteria and other microbes to grow. Would you want someone to pass on their bacteria to you? Or other micro-organisms that might be lurking on their scalps or the strands of hair that they leave on your hairbrush after they use it? No, right?

For the love of God, please don’t share your stuff (anything that comes in direct contact with your skin) with anyone else, be it your friends or family. The ‘sharing is caring’ notion does not apply when it comes to the things mentioned above. Your hygiene should be your priority at all times.

So keep in mind, this is a close-range weapon. The taser will incapacitate the attacker no matter where aimed. The batteries should be changed regularly and kept in close reach when outside. Do not repeatedly jolt the attacker because it might prove fatal; you don’t need a murder lawsuit over your head after narrowly escaping rape.

2. Pepper Spray

This is another close-range weapon and it affects everyone differently. The attacker wearing glasses might have inhaling problems only, while the one with naked eyes will lose sight for a while. Keep in mind that the wind plays a role in this. Make sure that the wind blow the spray towards the person assaulting you, not you. This must be used when you have a chance of disabling the attacker or a case of escaping by either rendering him unconscious or tying him up.

3. Tactical knife

These are small knives concealed entirely inside a pen or a comb. This is a dangerous weapon because it can break the skin of the assailant and injure him with precision, and hence it is mostly found in surgeries. Tactical knives are all about the element of surprise, so the best way to use it would be to attack somewhere non-fatal; as said above, you don’t need a murder lawsuit. To follow the law, make sure it’s not longer than 4 inches. Make sure it’s not too thick as well so that it can be easily used without anything hampering you when protecting yourself.

4. Tactical key chains

This is a convenient one for, I think, all women out there. Remember, brass knuckles; they inspire the key chains. What they are is simple enough. They seem like familiar key chains with holes for your fingers to hold it properly with spikes on the outside. Keeping these at hand will surely be reassuring. And like pepper spray, these might not hinder the attacker permanently. So keep an escape plan in mind. These key chains look cute enough to be of no notice from the predators out there.

5. Flashlight

I know it doesn’t seem trusty enough by we are not talking about those small ones. The ones which will be weapons for you should be more than at least 10 inches and favorably of a metal exterior so that when swung at the attacker, the damage is done. Another way too use it is to blind the assailant temporarily. For this, the flashlight needs to have high power. Some even come with strobe functions to halt the attacker for a moment or two. Having a bright light will also grab the attention of passersby.

These five self-defense weapons are just precautionary measures that you need to have, considering the environment these days. That said, we hope that the men also get a grab on themselves and stop committing crimes that make women feel unsafe.

IBA Admission 2020: Everything You Need To Know!

By now, all your FSc and A-level students must have received your results. You must have something planned for your undergraduate studies. I mean you must have a tentative idea of the field you want to pursue, right? And you would ideally like to take admission in a university appropriate to that.

What IBA has to offer?

So let’s see what fields you can pursue at IBA. As the name Institute of Business Administrations suggests, you can follow Business administration there. However, there are more fields that IBA offers. You have the option of studying ‘Accounting & Finance,’ ‘Social Science and Liberal Arts,’ ‘Computer Sciences,’ ‘and Economic & Maths.’

So if your area falls in any of these, you can opt for IBA for your bachelor’s. But really, the best choice would be BBA considering IBA’s expertise lies there. So if you are applying for IBA, here are some things that you need to know.

Starting the Application

You need to apply for IBA online. And you can do that through the IBA Online Admissions System. This portal is available on IBA’s official website. Here is the link for the website: www.iba.edu.pk/

After you fill out the online application form, you will have to print out the bank challan. Then take it to the designated bank branch and deposit the fee. Once you do that, you will get the admit card through the email you registered.

The Documents Needed

The documents you need to have accessible in case you are applying to the undergraduate program are:

Matriculation or O’ Level Certificate
Intermediate / A’ Level Certificate
IBCC Equivalence in case of O/A Level
National Identity Card / Birth Certificate

Aptitude Test

So anyway, you will first have to appear for an aptitude test. If you clear that, you will get your name on the interview invite list. A panel of three people conducts the interview. They are usually the professors at IBA, and sometimes it is the alumni who have excelled in their fields.

Group Discussions

For BBA programs, the successful interview candidates are invited for group discussions. These group discussions are there to gauge how open you are in expressing your point of view in public. It also sees whether you restrict yourself or not. Also, remember this point that starting the group discussion has extra points.
