6 Pakistani Politicians & Leaders Who Went to Oxford University

Oxford University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. And the evidence of that comes from their rich alumni list.

Famous people like Stephen Hawkings, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, and Rowan Atkinson make just a fraction of famous faces that have studied at the university.

However, some of the alumni have gone on to become leaders for Pakistan, who are they? Let’s find out!

1. Benazir Bhutto

7 Pakistani Politicians Re-Imagined as Disney Characters

Benazir Bhutto was the first and to date the only woman in Pakistan’s history to become PM of the nation. However, her road to the top began in Oxford, where she was enrolled in the Postgraduate study.

She studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Lady Margaret Hall and St. Catherine’s College, and was also elected head of the Oxford Union debating society.

Bhutto became Prime Minister of Pakistan on two occasions, in 1988 and 1993.

2. Imran Khan

Imran Khan’s political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), emerged as victorious in the recent general elections that were held last month. The PTI chief is said to become Prime Minister of Pakistan after taking Oath next week.

Imran Khan, is also part of the exclusive club of Oxford alumni, as he enrolled at Keble College, Oxford in 1972.

He studied Philosophy, Economics, and Politics, graduating with Honors in 1975.

3. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto

Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who served as the President of Pakistan from 1971-1973 and PM of Pakistan from 1973-1977.

He traveled to the United Kingdom in June 1950 at Christ Church, Oxford, and received an LLB degree in Law followed by an LLM degree in Law and an M.Sc (honors) degree in Political Science.

4. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

10 Pakistani Politicians & Their Educational Qualifications

The son of Benazir Bhutto and grandson of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Bilawal was appointed Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in December 2012.

In 2007, Bilawal Bhutto enrolled at Christ Church, a constituent college of Oxford University, for a degree in History and Politics.

As part of the Oxford curriculum, he studied British history as well as general history. Like his mother, he was also part of the Oxford Union debating society.

5. Liaquat Ali Khan

Liaquat Ali Khan was the first Prime Minister of Pakistan and in 1919 after the death of his father, the British government awarded him grants and scholarship, through which he went to England and attended Oxford University’s Exeter College in order to pursue Higher education.

6. Wasim Sajjad

Wasim Sajjad was President of Pakistan for a year (1997-1998), he also studied at Oxford University at the Wadham College in 1967. He graduated with a degree in Jurisprudence.

Going to a good university doesn’t always guarantee success, but the people in this list were hard working and exceptional, thus the reason why they reached such heights.

They are an inspiration for every student out there who is struggling, and their message is strong yet simple: Never give up!

5 Things You Must NEVER Share With Anyone

5 Things You Must NEVER Share With Anyone
Source: iStock and rsvplive.ie

Do your friends, and office mates usually forget their essentials at home and conveniently ask you to share yours with them? Do you generously lend your personals to everyone? Well, unfortunately, your oh-so-generous nature can be harmful to you and them as well.

Here’s a list of 5 things that you should never share with anyone at all.

1. Earphones

A lot of us are habitual of sharing earphones or headphones with our friends and mates at work. Although it might seem insignificant, this habit can be extremely harmful to us. You wouldn’t want to offer you earphones to someone who might have some sort of ear infection. Would you?

2. Water Bottle

One of the most commonly shared items among friends and even strangers is a water bottle. Anyone can run out of water or be in dire need of it at any time, anywhere. And you can’t possibly say no to someone who asks you for some.

However, you can keep an extra disposable cup/glass with you for times like these. Letting people drink from your water bottle can expose you to infections.

3. Spoon/Fork/Glass

Sharing the same spoon, fork, or glass while eating with buddies is a widespread practice, especially in Pakistan. Sensibly, spoons, forks, and glasses should not be shared among people.

Normalize using your own dining accessories and urge your friends to do the same. Sharing the same eating utensils can usher the spread of viruses and bacteria, making everyone vulnerable to infections and diseases.

4. Makeup Accessories

Have you shared your lipstick with your girlfriends, at least once? A guilty pleasure indeed, but you need to stop right away! Although we do not pay much attention to this but to be very honest, your makeup accessories are YOURS only and should not be used by anyone else.

I know this sounds mean, but hygienically, this is how it should be. While sharing your lipstick or makeup brushes with your beloved friend, you might as well be sharing your bacteria with them.

Advisably, you should keep an extra lip balm or lipstick in your bag at all times. If your friend loves makeup, gift them some on their birthday. Not only will they love their birthday present but also they’ll stop asking for yours.

5. Hair Brushes and Combs

Girls and boys are equally guilty of sharing hairbrushes and hair combs. It might not be a big deal for many of us; however, it is in fact a grossly unhygienic practice. Sharing hair brushes aids the transmission of bacteria, fungus, mites, etc.

Also, hairbrushes provide a perfect environment for bacteria and other microbes to grow. Would you want someone to pass on their bacteria to you? Or other micro-organisms that might be lurking on their scalps or the strands of hair that they leave on your hairbrush after they use it? No, right?

For the love of God, please don’t share your stuff (anything that comes in direct contact with your skin) with anyone else, be it your friends or family. The ‘sharing is caring’ notion does not apply when it comes to the things mentioned above. Your hygiene should be your priority at all times.

So, are you convinced to eliminate these unhygienic and foul practices from your life? Let us know in the comment section below!

3 Quotes On Women By ‘Manto’ That Will Give You Chills

quotes by manto

Manto is one of the very few writers who openly endorse their intention of highlighting the grim realities of society through their writings. Throughout his writing career, Manto got tried six times for depicting vulgarity and obscenity in his writings, however, nothing could stop him from shedding light on the issues that nobody preferred (read: dared) to talk about.

About Sadat Hasan Manto

Born in Ludhiana (Punjab) in 1912, Saadat Hasan Manto was one of the most prominent yet controversial writers of the 20th century. From Bombay where his writing career started, Manto travelled to Pakistan and got settled in Lahore, a few months after partition. Known best for his short stories, Saadat Hasan Manto was also proficient at writing plays, film scripts, essays and even a novel.

3 Quotes On Women By ‘Manto’ That Will Give You Chills

Have a look at these 3 quotes on women by Manto that will give you chills!

1. “Beti koi paida nahi karna chahta lekin bistar par saray mard aurat chahtay hain”

Quotes On Women By ‘Manto’ That Will Give You Chills
Source: Pinterest

What a perfect depiction of men’s mentality and their unwillingness to raise daughters.

2. “Agar yeh maashra kothon (brothel) par janay walay beghairat aur shehwaniyat say bharay log paida kar sakta hai to iss maashray say randi paida karnay par hairaangi kyun hoti hai? Jab tak khareedar mojood hongay bazar main maal aata rahay ga”

Quotes On Women By ‘Manto’ That Will Give You Chills
Source: Pinterest

Through this quote Manto has tried to assert how male dominance and privilege works in our society. In a society where prostitutes are ridiculed and looked down upon, the men who visit them in brothels should be accused equally.

Why are only women deemed blameworthy in our society? What gives men the license to do whatever they want and get away with it without facing the consequences or having their character questioned?

3. “Hum aurat usi ko samjhtay hain jo hamaray ghar ki ho, baaqi hamaray liye koi aurat nahi hoti, bas gosht ki dukaan hoti hai aur ham uss dukaan kay bahar kharay kutton ki tarha hotay hain jin ki hawas zada nazar hamesha gosht par tiki rehti hai”

Putting men’s double standards and filthy nature and mindset under the spotlight, Manto has clearly pointed towards how men in our society would conveniently objectify every other woman except for their own mothers, sisters or wives. For such men, only the women who are associated with them deserve respect and others are worthy of being harassed and assaulted.

Manto is very much contemporary

These quotes by Manto have confounded you with fear and disgust, right? Well, Manto tried his best to unleash the reality of our sick-minded society in the 20th century and surprisingly enough, these quotes by Manto are still very relevant, even in the 21st century.

Do you have some more quotes by Manto that you would want to share with us? Do you think that Manto, through his writings, is very much alive in contemporary times? What are your thoughts on Manto’s depiction of our society? Let us know in the comment section below!

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan, Here’s Who We Would Cast!

IIf Ertugrul was made in Pakistan

Ertugrul Ghazi is a Turkish historical fiction and adventure television series which recently aired on Pakistani television channels and has taken the Pakistani audience by storm.

It is considered one of the best series of its kind. In Turkish, the title of the series is Diriliş: Ertuğrul, and from the younger generation to the elderly – everyone is hooked to it.

Based on the history of the Muslim Oghuz Turks, the plot took place in the 13th century. The series is mostly about the journey and life of Ertugrul Ghazi, who was the father of Osman (Uthman), who founded the Ottoman Empire.

Why should you watch Diriliş: Ertuğrul?

Minus the men who are a feast for the eyes and women who are the epitome of beauty, this show flaunts Oghaz culture, Islamic teachings, excellent cinematography, and so much more.

The show has five seasons with a total of 150 episodes, so we guess that you’re sorted for another three months if you start binging on this hit series, which is highly recommended by PM Imran Khan.

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul was made in Pakistan, who would play the characters?

Have you wondered which Pakistani celebrity would look great in those Turkish roles? Well, let us put a stop to your curiosity because we have compiled a list that won’t disappoint you.

  1. Hamza Ali Abbasi as Ertugrul Ghazi

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan,

Abbasi has the same ferocious features, the husky voice, and the ability to master the art of taking his acting to another level, which is why we’re rooting for him.

2.  Uzma Gillani as Hayma Hatun

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan,

This starlet has everyone wrapped around her finger with her flawless acting skills. We’re placing our bets on Gillanini to play the character of Hayma Hatun.

3. Osama Com Laude as Bamsi Beyrek

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan,

It appears that Osama can play the character of Bamsi Beyrek and Kahl Drogo simultaneously. Well, he has a face that would stop a clock, so for us, it’s Osama who can do the job right.

4.  Alyzeh Gabol as Halie Sultan

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan,

Minus the fact that these two have an hourglass body and Barbie doll looks, these two will do very well if they switched lives. What do you think?

5. Emmad Irfani as Gundogdu Bey

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan,

Although Irfani has been in the fashion industry since 2001 and managed to bag some decent roles, the actor is underrated, and we feel that he can ace the part of Gundogdu Bey.

6. Nadia Khan as Selcan Hatun

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan,

There’s no doubt that Nadia Khan would look stunning if dressed according to the culture of Oghaz.

7. Shehryar Munawar as Turgut Alp

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan

On the list of eye candies, these two are yet another feast for the sore eyes. We’re curious to see how Munawar will portray the character of the Turgut Alp.

8. Rasheed Nawaz as Suleman Shah

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan

After watching Nawaz in Khuda Kay Liye, we’re confident that he will be able to keep you on edge with his phenomenal performance as Suleman Shah.

9.  Ramsha Khan as Gochke Hatun

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan

Can you see what we’re looking at? The uncanny resemblance between the two proves that Khan will be an excellent choice for the character of Gochke Hatun

10. Goher Rasheed as Dogan Alp

If Diriliş: Ertuğrul Was Made in Pakistan

The actor who managed bag a nomination in the Best Actor category at the New York Film Festival for Seedlings has proved over and over again that he’s a chameleon, who can transform him into any character and this is why our choice for Dogan Alp is Rasheed.

Will you watch it?

We’re now as curious as a cat to find out how will this Pakistani version of Diriliş: Ertuğrul turns out! Aren’t you?

5 Things Women Should Keep In Their Bags For Self Defense

self defense

Many were disgusted by the news about the rape of a woman right in front of her children. Even though women shouldn’t have to carry self-defense weapons for their protection but the sad fact is, they need to. Below are listed a few self-defense weapons women can use and be safe.

Disclaimer: These are to be used only when in serious situations like what happened on the motorway!

1. Self Defense Taser

This is a kind of device that you can use to shock your assailant electronically. Most of the time, the danger is only noticeable when right in front of you. So keep in mind, this is a close-range weapon. The taser will incapacitate the attacker no matter where aimed. The batteries should be changed regularly and kept in close reach when outside. Do not repeatedly jolt the attacker because it might prove fatal; you don’t need a murder lawsuit over your head after narrowly escaping rape.

Self Defense

2. Pepper Spray

This is another close-range weapon and it affects everyone differently. The attacker wearing glasses might have inhaling problems only, while the one with naked eyes will lose sight for a while. Keep in mind that the wind plays a role in this. Make sure that the wind blow the spray towards the person assaulting you, not you. This must be used when you have a chance of disabling the attacker or a case of escaping by either rendering him unconscious or tying him up.

self defense

3. Tactical knife

These are small knives concealed entirely inside a pen or a comb. This is a dangerous weapon because it can break the skin of the assailant and injure him with precision, and hence it is mostly found in surgeries. Tactical knives are all about the element of surprise, so the best way to use it would be to attack somewhere non-fatal; as said above, you don’t need a murder lawsuit. To follow the law, make sure it’s not longer than 4 inches. Make sure it’s not too thick as well so that it can be easily used without anything hampering you when protecting yourself.

Self Defense

4. Tactical key chains

This is a convenient one for, I think, all women out there. Remember, brass knuckles; they inspire the key chains. What they are is simple enough. They seem like familiar key chains with holes for your fingers to hold it properly with spikes on the outside. Keeping these at hand will surely be reassuring. And like pepper spray, these might not hinder the attacker permanently. So keep an escape plan in mind. These key chains look cute enough to be of no notice from the predators out there.

Self Defense

5. Flashlight

I know it doesn’t seem trusty enough by we are not talking about those small ones. The ones which will be weapons for you should be more than at least 10 inches and favorably of a metal exterior so that when swung at the attacker, the damage is done. Another way too use it is to blind the assailant temporarily. For this, the flashlight needs to have high power. Some even come with strobe functions to halt the attacker for a moment or two. Having a bright light will also grab the attention of passersby.

These five self-defense weapons are just precautionary measures that you need to have, considering the environment these days. That said, we hope that the men also get a grab on themselves and stop committing crimes that make women feel unsafe.

Moreover, these have been compiled by research from Dawn, Women on Guard, and tbotech.

Remember: These are to be used only when in serious situations like the one on motorway!

Did iPhone 12’s Upgarde Just Beat All The Android Phones?

iPhone

The Android and iPhone battle, it seems, will continue forever, I believe. More than anyone else, it is the smartphone users who get offended. But with each phone launch, these phones keep introducing new tech upgrades, which make the fans more strongwilled in protecting their favorite.

The new specification

Weirdly, you will find those android phone users, if nothing, start targetting iPhone’s Bluetooth. But this time, iPhone just might have thrown the ace of spades in the game. They have announced that the iPhone 12 series will be introducing a 7P camera lens. With this news, Apple will send all android phone makers scrambling to catch up.

iphone 12

7P lenses are lenses that have seven optical elements, seven plastic lenses. What will they do? Well, for someone well-proficient in camera talk would immediately realize how cool it would be to have this specification.

The previous history

According to a website (Wccftech), the previous lineup offered a 5P lens for the ultrawide camera and 6P lens for wide and telephotos cameras. But with the current lineup, the camera is upgrading even further than that. I would say it is good news for all the vloggers. I mean, its high time I upgraded from iPhone 7, and going directly to iPhone 12 will be proper #achievementunlocked.

iphone

Now that it will be out in just four days and available for the public, all these Android phones are going to follow suit. I mean, 7P is the new future, so it’s not like they will be following Apple as such, but Apple did beat them to the race.

The iPhone sensor too?

Alongside the lens, the iPhone 12 is also going to upgrade its sensor. It was rumored that the iPhone ket using the sensor that it last upgraded in iPhone 6 and 6 plus. But now Apple might be open to upgrading it. Now, you can take photos or videos, even in dimly-lit conditions and still look tip-top.

Looking at these camera specifications, I might get into professional blogging on Instagram to make some videos. Or not… I mean, not everyone can be a blogger; it requires that specific talent, creativity.

But what I want to reiterate here is that the camera of this phone is super awesome, and it needed to happen considering there are many many more phones that not only entered the market but are thriving. So are you going to buy an iPhone 12 the moment it releases? Because maybe I will!

Lip Fillers Or Not? Hania Aamir Receives Major Backlash!

hania aamir

In today’s news, Hania Aamir has landed in hot waters for posting a picture with an Instagram filter. As absurd as it may be, people think she’s gotten lip fillers and has made it their mission to condemn the act.

The Picture

 The Truth

These filters are ubiquitous and famous on Instagram nowadays. Instagram has a wide range of filters to choose from, and most are designed to change your face shape. This is also one of those that pinch your nose and makes your lips bigger— is using a filter a crime?

hania amir

The Reaction

The botox nazis have launched themselves under the comments of the post. Left, right, and center, comments are ranging from “she looks ugly” to “you’re not Gigi Hadid.” Either she looks ugly, or she looks like Gigi Hadid, the people have clearly lost their chill and are now on two extreme ends.

hania amir

What Warrants Such Comments?

When celebrities sign up for this life, they do sign up for criticism and constant scrutiny of their life. However, to say that they deserve such hurtful, personal comments is unfair. They neither deserve it (well, Nauman Ijaz does), nor do they have to learn to put up with it because they should not be there in the first place.

hania amir

So what had she gotten fillers? That’s the reason why Kylie Jenner built her empire and is looked upon as a standard of beauty. We’re sure many of the people bashing Aamir would find Kylie lovely. Why do most of our population think social media is an outlet for their thoughts and unwanted opinions?

Slap Back

The same confidence to express unwanted and unsolicited advice was also apparent under Esra Bilgic’s posts. Just because she has played the character of a Muslim woman and has acted in an Islamic series, Pakistani awam thought it best to tell her how to dress.

hania amir

Initially, she blocked the comments, but then one fine day, a lesson was learned. She slapped back! She asked the guy to “not follow her,” which is as big a slap as you can get from an international celebrity.

55-Year-Old American Woman Comes To Pakistan To Marry Her 27-Year-Old Lover

American woman comes to marry Pakistani

How can political ties ever stand in the way of the United States of America and Pakistan when its nationals can’t help falling in love with each other? That’s right! A 55-year-old American woman was head over heels for a Pakistani man, and she didn’t hold back.

A Love Story For The Ages

Elizabeth Mendez and Shahzad Ahmad Khan had been friends on Facebook for over a year. While information is not given on who approached who or why (virtually), did Shahzad randomly send this woman a friend request? After all, that’s what Pakistani men are known for!

Regardless, Shahzad lucked out because Elizabeth did not want to let nationalities get in the way. She traveled to Pakistan to meet and marry her beau. It’s also amazing how Elizabeth had made up her mind on Shahzad despite ever having met him.

She Converted!

It has been announced that Elizabeth converted to Islam in the local mosque of Shahzad’s residency. Her new name is also Maryam Shahzad. Now the happy couple awaits the day of their nikkah so they can start their life together.

See Them Together Here

Breaking Barriers

The video is equal parts funny and adorable. They both look shy, but Shahzad’s face is lit with shock and amazement as well. Don’t miss the toothy smiles, any wider smiles, and they’d be seen in Colgate soon enough!

No talk has been done on whether Shahzad’s or Elizabeth’s family had any reservations with the other person. A mixed-race marriage is impressive, and all but locals in Pakistan rarely accept an American as a daughter-in-law or son-in-law for a wedding!

What’s more, is how incredible it is that they were able to sustain contact throughout an entire year. Language differences, time differences, values, lifestyle are all differences that one accounts for in a relationship. With Shahzad and Elizabeth (or shall we say Maryam), all these differences were put aside, and only the heart was listened to.

Future Speculations

This story has gone viral already, and in Pakistan, most things that go viral are applied by one or two people at least. Now we’re afraid of the influx of requests American or British women might get from Pakistani men looking for wives or friendship!

HEC Declares 132 Pakistani Students On Scholarships As Defaulters!

Scholarships
PC: Ilm Ki Dunya

Working hard to attain a scholarship is impressive, especially for students who plan to go abroad. Studies for international students without a scholarship can be costly otherwise.

Every year, lots of students apply for scholarships and try their luck. A part of studying abroad on the scholarship means that after you have received a respected degree, you will come back to your country.

Unfortunately, not everyone complies. Eventually, when a scholarship holder does not return, their scholarship is considered as defaulted, and their names and information are shared on HEC’s official website so that institutes can know about them.

HEC has released a list of 132 students who have been declared as defaulters. Moreover, a subcommittee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was shocked to learn that out of 583 projects, around 106 research projects were still incomplete, at various educational institutes, even after a decade despite funding by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The committee was further informed that 132 students who were sent abroad did not make it back.

The committee was also informed that 82 scholars had not returned to Pakistan after completing their PhDs, while 52 had been declared fail by various foreign universities.

It was also found that 68 more scholars, who had been sent abroad on scholarships during the second phase of the program, again did not return to Pakistan.

Alam Khan, the committee’s convener, expressed his anger at the absence of HEC Chairman Tariq Banuri during the meeting. When he eventually showed, he was asked by Khan to submit a letter stating his lack.

During the meeting, it was found that HEC was not recovering the cost of training from these scholars. It was shared that HEC had spent Rs. Nine hundred fifty-five million on the scholars.

The chairman shared that some recoveries had been made and that the cases have been registered in the court accordingly. It was found that only one defaulter had returned the money.

The committee officials decided that if candidates wish to avail of the Ph.D. scholarships, they will now have to pledge their house, land, or such assets in favor of the government. They added as most of the students who apply for scholarships have no such properties or assets, HEC should get a guarantee signed from a well-off person who is willing to take the risk.

A list of HEC defaulters can be found on the HEC website.

Motorway Incident: Pakistanis Are Demanding The Removal Of CCPO Lahore

motorway incident

Yesterday, the motorway incident caught us all off guard. I am not going to compare it with the Zainab incident or the incident of an infant or a dead body. No. There is no comparison. Neither am I going to call out on people who didn’t stand up back then but are standing up now. Suppose they realized that they need to participate in this now, well and good. God knows we need them.

Lahore Motorway Incident

And amid that sad, depressing tragic news, we came across Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore’s statement, where he indicated that the victim was to be blamed for this. He mentioned that the victim should have made a better route decision to avoid this. And she would have been able to prevent this.

Victim-blaming by CCPO

Following this statement, Umer Shaikh came under huge backlash from Pakistanis all over twitter. People couldn’t believe his statement, which blamed the victim. They went as far as, and rightfully so, to say that victim-blaming equal supporting rapists. After a whole day of this backlash, CCPO Lahore made yet another comment. From his side of the arguments, it may have seemed that he was clarifying what he meant. But in reality, he aggravated the public even further.

He said that the victim had a foreign mindset. Her family was in France, and so was her husband. She made decisions as if she was in France. And that was the mistake on her part because Pakistan is not like that country. Because France has the laws for safety, the laws there are enforced, and that is why a woman can go out at 4 am. But we, Pakistanis, would never allow our daughters or sisters to go out at midnight.

Enablers of Rapists?

After the statement was heard, the anger of Pakistani people further intensified. According to them, he was publicly announcing his incompetence. If he couldn’t ensure the enforcement laws, what was the purpose of him? The twitter handle @Mohtermalaila frustratedly said that it was this behavior by law enforcement that the ratio of this crime does not go down.

The Character Report

In the meantime, @alirazaoff extracted CCPO’s character report. Real or not, the report lists him as financially and morally corrupt. And, according to the report, he was capable of misusing the power for personal goals, which includes bribery and gratification.

With these statements, the angry Pakistanis started demanding the removal of the CCPO. The hashtag #RemoveCCPOLahore trended on Twitter. People were even directing Usman Buzdar’s attention towards the troubling statements.

We will have to wait and see if the removal happens or not because will we honestly trust someone who made victim-blaming remarks with our safety? I, for one, will not even if he apologizes.

Amna Ilyas Ties Knot With Dawar Mehmood In A Private Ceremony

amna ilyas marriage

So, many of our favorite stars from the showbiz family, such as Falak and Sarah, Faryal, and Daniyal, got married amidst the pandemic in the most decent yet adorable manner.

Guess who recently jumped on the bandwagon?

Model Amna Ilyas Ties Knot With Dawar Mehmood

Yes, you guessed it right. Popular Pakistani television/film actress and model Amna Ilyas just got hitched. And the lucky groom is none other than the famous director, Dawar Mehmood. The two graciously tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on Saturday.

Some time back, the Baaji actress in Amir Liaquat’s show Jeeway Pakistan did hint towards getting married soon to someone from the industry. However, she chose not to disclose her husband-to-be’s identity.

Anyhow, we are as happy as we can be to know that the two have tied the knot, and we cannot wait for the couple to share their pictures from their wedding day.

The Two Shining Stars Of Our Entertainment Industry

Amna Ilyas started her modeling career when she was only seventeen, and she has come a long way. The Saat Din Mohabbat In actress appeared in numerous drama serials such as Janam Jali, Tum Mere Paas Raho, and Jhanka Taaki, to name a few. Apart from Saat Din Mohabbat In, Amna also got featured in several films such as Zinda Bhaag, Ready Steady No, Baaji, etc.

On the other hand, Dawar Mehmood has been ruling over the theatre industry for quite some time now. He owns KopyKats Production and has been working with the legendary scriptwriter Anwar Maqsood since 2010.

Under Dawar’s direction, extraordinarily impressive plays such as Pawany 14 August, Aangan Terha, Sawa 14 August, and Half Plate were performed on stage. Thousands of people from Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore appreciated Dawar’s contributions to the theatre industry.

Both Dawar and Amna are important faces of our entertainment industry.

Amna and Dawar’s Upcoming Project

In October, under the direction of Dawar Mehmood, Amna Ilyas is going to appear as Sana Murad in a theatre play, Ankahi. It is an adaptation of Hasina Moin’s drama serial from the 1980s. Amna Ilyas enthusiastically shared the poster and announced the big news herself from her official Instagram account.

Yes, we will be following all SOP’s to ensure the safety of our lovely audience. I’m so excited to take the stage as Sana Murad, and more than anything, I’m thrilled to see all of you”

We wish the young couple all the best for their future endeavors. And we wish them a happy and blessed life.

School Reopening: 6 Things Pakistani Parents Should Take Care Of

School re-opening

As schools are set to re-open from coming Tuesday, many parents will be sending their kids to school with hesitancy, anxiety, and uncertainty. Sending a piece of your heart into the public where they may get exposed to a deadly virus is sure to keep everyone feeling agitated.

However, as much as we may hate it, this is the new normal, and we have to adapt. Lives have to move forward, and they can do so with this list! Here are six tips you can take into account, as a parent, when schools re-open:

1. Prepare A School Kit

This time the back to school kit will be different, but it’s worth it. Create a school kit that includes five cloth masks that are acceptable to and are comfortable on their children, a bottle of sanitizer safe to use, and some alcohol wipes to disinfect.

2. Monitor Your Child At Home

Parents can take on the responsibility of knowing the health symptoms of COVID-19 and screen their children at home. Temperature screenings, which many schools are trying to do, come at a high cost but are not adequate detectors of COVID-19. Parents already know to screen for many childhood ailments: flu, conjunctivitis, pinworms, lice, etc. They will be good screeners.

3. Don’t Send Them If A Family Member Is Showing Symptoms

Be prepared to keep your child at home if they or any family member starts showing a symptom. That does not mean they will necessarily have contracted the virus, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

4. Make Sure Your Child Is Protected Medically

Make sure all of your child’s immunizations are up to date and provide the school with a doctor’s determination if their child is in a high-risk category for COVID-19.

5. Pep Talk Your Kids

You need to prepare your children for different school experience. Talk to your children about the need to follow new rules in schools for physical distancing, mask-wearing, and personal hygiene, and why this is important.

This different experience can also take a toll on them mentally, so make sure you’re by their side in support.

6. Have Your Kids Know It All

Make sure your children know about handwashing technique and wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water right before leaving for school, and as soon as they get home from school.
