Sanam Marvi Accused of Sending Death Threats to her Neighbours

Sanam Marvi

A complaint has been registered against singer Sanam Marvi for harassing and assaulting her neighbour over a property dispute on Wednesday.

Rafat Jamal has filed a case at Lahore’s Johar Town police station, accusing the singer of threatening to occupy her house.

According to the neighbour, Sanam had fought with her several times before and has sent her death threats.

Watch the video below:

https://youtu.be/ZJ4Cn0HuhTk

Sanam’s first song for Coke Studio Season 12 Hairaan Hua was also removed from YouTube over a copyright claim by Abida Parveen.

The song featured in Coke Studio’s latest season came as a complete surprise for Abida Parveen and her son.

“We only found out when the BTS for the episode aired, but we decided to wait and clarify things first [before bringing a claim],” said her son Sarang Latif in an interview with Images.

Looks like Sanam Marvi has had a very rough week so far as nothing seems to be going her way. However, regarding the complaint, no official police statement or comment by Sanam Marvi herself has been released so far.

“I Have to Confess that I am not a Big Fan of Bollywood” – Fatima Bhutto

New Kings of the World Fatima Bhutto

Fatima Bhutto’s latest writing, New Kings of the World is an intelligent, informative and addictive look at the globalization of pop culture.

In the new book, Fatima Bhutto writes about the values and stories conveyed in Bollywood films, Turkish soap operas, and South Korean pop music.

Entertainment has the power to reflect our experiences to us, to make us feel empowered, and to give us a glimpse into a country’s past, and a window into what it hopes for its future.

Bhutto finds today’s Bollywood I find pretty thoughtless. “The heroes are not Dalits, they are not minorities. Women in Bollywood films are revered but denied expression. They are always victims, and they never have any agency.”

“I have to confess that I am not a big fan of Bollywood – I know this is sacrilege to say. But I find Bollywood’s older movies quite interesting because they reflect in a very strong way the passage of time and of history, not just in India but in the subcontinent,” she said.

She sees Bollywood film as the wholehearted acceptance of whatever society is today.

“And I find that worrying, as an audience member,” she confessed.

Speaking of the films being currently made, the author said that Bollywood movies of today are just bold-faced government propaganda.

“The danger is there’s a lot of war films, there’s a lot of films glorifying violence, and that violence comes at the behest of a movement. And I find that uncomfortable, I find it hard to watch Bollywood today much more than ever before.”

New Kings Of The World is a unique and exceptional book one wishes were twice its length.

Khadija Shah Receives a Sweet note from Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton Note to Khadija Shah

While the recent visit to Pakistan, there was plenty of discussion about Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s dresses. The Duchess looked like a vision in every ensemble and there’s no doubt about that.

Kate Middleton is popular for her chic dressing sense and her first outfit of the tour was not a letdown.

She teamed her Catherine Walker dress and trousers with nude Rupert Sanderson heels, a matching clutch, and a pair of glittering drop-down earrings.

Furthermore, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton visited Pakistan from October 14 to 18, during which the princess wore seven dresses designed by well-known fashion designer Khadijah Shah – the creative director behind luxury brand Elan.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 38, penned a sweet note to Khadijah Shah,  in which she also revealed plans to return to the country.

Khadijah Shah, took Twitter to share a post citing a letter written by Kate Middleton to her in which the Duchess wrote, “I was delighted to have even been considered, this is just humbling to a whole different level.

However what’s most commendable is the consideration, grace and thoughtfulness of HRH the Duchess Catherine, it is no wonder that she is so respected and beloved.”

Kate Middleton was praised for her elegant ensembles during the recent royal tour of Pakistan and we hope that the royals visit Pakistan soon.

Britain’s Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, visited Pakistan for the first royal trip to the South Asian country in over a decade to boost ties.

Zameen.com Launches New Plot Finder Tool to Facilitate Online Plot Searching

Plotfinder

Pakistan’s largest real estate portal Zameen.com on Friday debuted its brand new tool Plot Finder at a launch event held at a popular local hotel, with media representatives and the company’s senior management in attendance.

Plot Finder allows Zameen.com’s users to access highly detailed maps of 38 Pakistani cities and over 2,500 housing schemes within. Its plot-marking facility – which accurately depicts the land demarcations segmented and finalized by society developers – was unveiled as its most innovative feature. The product also enables users to swipe through the precise, on-ground locations of over 1.2 million houses and plots across the country.

Zameen.com Corporate Communications Director Ibrahim Suheyl told the audience that the main objective of all the services provided by the portal (including this newly launched provision), was to make the process of property searching and the subsequent transactions easier for all stakeholders.

Plot Finder is all about giving our users precise virtual access to every property in Pakistan – and saving all involved from the complicated and time-consuming process of using traditional paper maps,” said Suheyl.

Zameen.com Central Region Senior Director Sheikh Shuja Ullah Khan told the audience that the new feature would be a welcome relief for real estate agencies, seeing as it would considerably speed up their interactions with clients and make them more fruitful.

“Agents can now make map-based plot collections of their own to share with their clients. This product will not only save them time but will also be a tremendous help to their businesses in terms of closing deals,” Khan added.

Zameen.com Geomatics Associate Director Ali Haroon said, “The biggest problem in Pakistan’s real estate market is the scarcity of data, especially geo-location data. Zameen took on the challenge of mapping out all of Pakistan and our data scientists, engineers and programmers are working round-the-clock to make that a reality.

“At the moment, we have 88% data penetration in Lahore alone, and some 1.2 million properties mapped in 38 major cities. This is a massive success, but we are not stopping here: our measure of success is when we have successfully mapped all of Pakistan,” Haroon added.

Zameen’s Senior Product Manager Muhammad Waqas gave a practical demonstration of the new tool to the audience and explained its many features and benefits.

Plot Finder offers the following unique features:

  • Search and view thousands of housing societies across 38 cities of Pakistan
  • Search and view millions of houses and plots, accurately marked on digital maps
  • View plot details such as:
    • Plot numbers
    • Plot addresses and map locations
    • Sizes (5 Marla, 10 Marla, 1 Kanal, etc)
    • Plot types (Residential, Commercial, Industrial)
  • Share plots with clients/friends Create and save personalized plot collections
  • Shortlist plots for potential buyers or make collections for your own inventory
  • Share your collections with clients, family and friends.

“All the services or platforms that Zameen introduces have one ingredient in common: understanding what our users want and need. We are simplifying the experience of buying and selling plots for everyone involved,” said Waqas.

“It took over 50,000 man-hours to create Plot Finder, with a team of more than 300 people in our Operations Department working round-the-clock. It is one of many intelligent products set to be launched by Zameen to grow the real estate business further. We are geared towards disruptive innovation and developing products that make stakeholders’ lives easier,” he added.

Mrs. Khan Once Again Takes Over the Internet with Her ‘Janaza’ Theory

mrs khan

Esteemed matchmaker Mrs. Khan, who graces morning shows quite often, was recently under fire for her controversial stance about how girls should make ‘gol rotis‘ and curb their tongue in front of their spouse and in-laws after marriage.

Furthermore,  while speaking on a television show, she added how it is mostly a woman’s fault if her marriage results in divorce because they forget to control their tongue and are unable to master the art of making roti-making.

Khan recently added another pointer to her ‘girls guide to a happy marriage’ list and we’d to shed some light on that.

The rishta aunty was shown curiosity on a morning show regarding what should parents tell their daughters at their rukhsati that would aid them in achieving a happily married life.

Her response was a rendered us speechless when she said and we quote “tumhara jo janaza haina woh uss ghar se nikle ga, idher matt aana” (your dead body will leave your the house of your in laws, don’t ever come here)

Dulhan Course for Women – Mrs. Khan, is that you?

This lady never fails to surprise us and always manages to bring something new to the table of misogyny mindset.

Although the ship has long sailed, here’s still hoping that the educated Mrs. Khan could put her education to good use and grasp what she said was wrong. Unfortunately, the majority agrees with her here and it will take a lot of time for this society to progress and see beyond sexism.

Lahore Ranked Most Polluted City in the World

Lahore Smog

Lahore has been ranked as the most polluted city in the world as air quality went up to ‘hazardous’ with an Air Quality Index (AQI) oscillating to 335.

Residents of the provincial capital of Punjab are now experiencing symptoms including sore throat, itchy eyes, breathing concerns, amongst many more.

Health experts have claimed that almost 5 years have been taken from their lifespan due to the hazardous toxic material they have been inhaling for the past many days.

The provincial government has closed all public and private schools in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad today in light of the horrible air-quality outside.

According to the international monitoring agency, AirVisual, the air quality in Lahore and adjoining districts is unhealthy for humans and animals alike.

Lahore was recorded as 195 microgrammes per meter cubed; this means that the air quality of Lahore is nineteen times what is considered safe.

Punjab Environment Protection Department has advised citizens to stay hydrated and don masks and glasses to minimize all smog impact.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam announced that the government is launching a special programme, in collaboration with the World Bank, to address air quality issues.

On the other hand, Amnesty International has also urged the government to take urgent action against this alarming crisis being faced in the city of Lahore and even in different parts of Punjab.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has Finally Found a Solution for the Smog Crisis

NEPRA Hikes Electricity Tariff by Rs. 1.82 Per Unit!

NEPRA

National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has just bombarded us with bad news.

From next month onward the power tariff will be increased by Rs. 1.82 per unit.

This news came after the latest case held by the NEPRA that was requested by Central Power Purchasing Company, on October 30th.

As per the sources, the decision was made in the context of fuel price adjustment.

The adjustment that is of Rs.1.82661kWh would be applicable to all the consumer categories except for the lifeline consumers of all the Ex-WAPDA Distribution firms.

With increasing prices and an unstable economy, this will further burden the lower-income household as well as Production Industry.

As per the current government’s “no load-shedding policy,” there is huge power consumption. To fill that storage more electricity is produced by using furnace oil which isn’t economical.

“Had the units generated on furnace oil be generated from coal/RLNG based power plants, the total fuel cost for such units would have been around Rs 6.3 billion, thus resulting in reduction in total fuel cost by around Rs 7.2 billion i.e. Paisa 54.63 per unit,” the case officer added.

This price hike will bring over Rs.40 billion additional lumber on the next month’s bills and this might bring the consumers under more financial pressure.

With economical and finally crisis going on, another price hike will be really devastating. However, these increased prices will not be implemented on K.E consumers.

NEPRA had earlier surged the per-unit price of electricity by Rs.0.52 on the 27th of September.

How are you adjusting to the price hikes? Share your tips and tricks in the comment section below.

Pakistani Made SIM and Smart Cards will be Available Soon

Pakistani Made SIM and Smart Cards

Ministery of Information Technology is all set to manufacture SIM and smart cards locally, after the instruction of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The MoIT has thoroughly done the research regarding the technology and skills required for producing these chipsets in Pakistan.

Design and all the important decisions are approved by all the stakeholders. Previously the said item was majorly imported from China and rest from the other countries.

After the local production of SIM, the import bills will be reduced to half for the Telecommunication sector, job opportunities will emerge, eventually, this initiative will help the drowning economy.

In 2012 NADRA introduced the biometric smart ID cards to control the forgery of data and identity theft. The chip in these smart ID cards made it difficult to replicate the smart cards. The decision of local production of SIM cards will definetly going to help our local network carriers as the import cost will be omitted.

The ministry has also directed the telecos to regulate the price and qulity without increasing the price of the product. The local manufacturing will also create opportunities for export and bringing in the international clients.

Pakistan imports a number of items for IT sectors and it directly effects are economy. Local productions of such items will not only save our import duty but help curb the high increasing rate of unemployment. Such initiative from the government are highly appreciated and welcomed by the citizens.

Government to Start Health Profiling of Teachers and Students to Control Drug Menace

Drugs Control in Punjab

The government of Punjab is taking serious measures to control the prevailing drug abuse in educational institutions of the province. Health profiling of students and teachers will be mandatory now onwards.

This decision was made in a meeting lead by Cheif Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khosar at his office on Wednesday. Earlier this Lahore High Court has directed the governing bodies in the province to take deliberate actions to control the situation in schools, colleges, and jails.

Punjab government imposed a complete ban on mobile devices in educational institutes to stop the supply and easy access to the narcotics.

As per the government strategy, a complete ban on using mobile devices or access to social media will limit the students and teachers from contacting suppliers.

According to a UN report, 9 million people in Pakistan are drug users and the most common choice of drug is cannabis. Also, the number of addicts in Pakistan is 4 Million people the highest in the world.

As per the same report, the situation is extremely alarming in the province of Sindh and Punjab because of the highest number of heroin and opium users. Heroin addiction is also a great cause behind the spreading of HIV in the provinces.

These small measures are really appreciated by the citizens as easy drug supply in school and college is a major concern for the parents right now.
