There are 350,000 Jobs in Japan for Pakistanis on Preference!

Japan is one of the most hard-working countries, however it still lacks manpower. To overcome this, the country has invited foreigners to apply for over 350,000 jobs.

Furthermore, Pakistanis who are looking for international opportunities have a great advantage as Pakistan is one of the most preferred countries for these jobs.

Due to the relationship between both countries, Japan has placed Pakistan in its Top 10 preferred countries, said the Japanese Ambassador at an event in Islamabad.

He also added that all 350,000 opportunities were created keeping foreigners in mind considering Japan’s elderly population is growing day-by-day.

The envoy expects that a large number of Pakistanis will move to Japan for their livelihood.

We are looking forward to many more talented young Pakistanis come to live and work in Japan.

Educated youth who are proficient in Japanese are preferred for these roles.

Pakistan and Japan in February signed a memorandum of cooperation in Tokyo on a technical intern training program. This is the first institutional arrangement between the two governments which will open up the Japanese market for Pakistani workers.

Karachi: Tomatoe Prices Hit All-Time High Rs.400 per KG!

This is probably the first time in the history that Karachi is experiencing the highest ever rates of Tomatoes with Rs.400 per KG.

On Monday, the prices ranged between Rs. 300-320, but now have soared even higher.

Once again the pricing control committee fails to regulate the government approved rates on agricultural goods resulting in the highest ever price increase.

Local administration quoted an unrealistic retail rate of Rs253 per kg compared to Rs193 per kg on Monday.

On the other hand, because the imported Iranian tomatoes have no fixed priced, vendors are selling them at unbelievable rates.

The soaring prices of vegetables and other edibles have involved layman in extreme financial crunch. Receding the economy and increasing prices have limited the survival options for the lower middle class to the middle class.

Lahore is also experiencing a price hike with almost Rs.200 per kg. The rates of tomatoes at the wholesale market are Rs.200-250 per kg but the normal vendors are selling it for Rs.300-320 per kg and higher.

As per speculations, prices will be back to normal in two to three weeks after Sindh crops are ready to be delivered in the market.

Falahi Anjuman Wholesale Vegetable Market president Haji Shahjehan said two containers carrying 44 tonnes of tomato had arrived on Sunday while on Tuesday only one container reached the market.

Being president of the wholesale market, I can only urge the customers to restrict their purchases for two to three days as it may break the monopoly of a few traders as well as bring down the tomato prices

Customers are begging the federal government to take notice and action as day-to-day life cannot continue like this.

Karachi: Health Experts Encourage Parents to Vaccinate Children for Typhoid

November 20th, 2019: Conjugate Typhoid vaccination drive by the Government of Sindh came under fire after several students of a private school in Karachi went unconscious.

After this incident, the Chairman of the All Private Schools Management Association requested the Government of Sindh to look into the matter and assure further mishaps will be avoided.

Now, pediatricians are urging parents and guardians to consider this immunization campaign and encourage them to vaccinate their children.

Drug-resistant typhoid is extensively spreading in Pakistan, raising a high risk of antibiotic failure at a global level. Inhabitants of Sindh and Punjab are at higher risk. Vaccination of children is crucial as kids of the age group of 9mo. to 15 years are prone to catch the virus through water and food.

However, after the happenings of Monday, representatives from WHO, UNICEF, and Pakistan Child Specialist all claimed it to be baseless propaganda against the campaign and mentioned that the newly introduced vaccine is fully safe and would protect children from typhoid.

“TCV is a very safe vaccine and no serious adverse events are observed after its administration. This vaccine is prequalified by WHO which means that its production is rigorously monitored by WHO. TCV is recommended for use by WHO because it’s safe and effective in granting the protection [against XDR typhoid],” WHO representative in Pakistan Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala.

Furthermore, health authorities in Sindh have said that almost 1.7 million children were vaccinated in the past two days and the drive will continue till the target is achieved.

November 19th, 2019: Students of a private school in Orangi Town Karachi went unconscious after the typhoid vaccination.

The vaccination drive is conducted by the Government of Sindh to curb the increasing infection rate in children and teenagers.

The drive targeted all private and government schools in Karachi, providing free vaccination to students of urban areas.

But on Monday, November 18th when the first round of vaccination drive started at a local school in Karachi, 6 students collapsed after getting vaccinated due to unknown reasons. These students, age 11 to 14 were rushed to the hospital where they gained conscious after immediate medical assistance. Though doctors couldn’t find any specific reason for the worsening condition of students at the moment.

The parents of the affected students protested outside the school. The Chairman of the All Private Schools Management Association sent a video message requesting the Sindh government to look into the matter and take charge of the situation immediately.

This immunization campaign is using a newly developed shot introduced to prevent typhoid infection in children aged 9th months to 15 years. The campaign initially includes urban areas of Karachi and later it will spread nationwide. The infection outbreak in Pakistan is majorly infecting children of the age 5 years to 15. Before the drive started Minister of Health expressed his high hopes:

“Beginning the vaccination in urban areas is critical in preventing the disease among the communities most at risk,” -By Azra Fazal Pechuho, Sindh’s provincial minister for health   

After yesterday’s incident at a private school, the immunization drive is at a halt and we are yet to hear a comment from the Government of Sindh.

Facebook’s Newest Experiment is a Meme-Creating Application Called ‘Whale’!

Facebook is always experimenting with one thing or another. Be it copying Snapchat feature, TikTok features, or creating new platforms.

The newest venture from the tech giant is a meme-creating application called Whale.

According to TechCrunch, the app allows users to decorate photos with text and stickers in order to create memes that can be shared to social media or texted to friends.

The app is a mixture of several editing apps combined but offers its users free material without any in-app purchases.

Furthermore, TechCrunch reports that users can take a photo, select a picture from their camera roll, browse the app’s library of stock images or use blank canvases or even, 2, 3 or 4-grid canvas layouts too. Users can add emojis, text, effects, and filters to customize them.

App store intelligence firm Apptopia was first to spot Whale’s launch, which was reported by The Information. The app arrived on November 15, 2019, according to App Annie.

Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain recently turned into the bride and groom for designer Amaltaas. The love doves team-up with this upcoming brand for their clothing line photoshoot.

The shots were taken by the famous photographer Abdullah Haris. He has shot just about everything, from music videos to fashion campaigns.

Amaltaas is a new designer clothing brand launched by Usman & Rida Usman.

Through his diverse body of work, he has carved himself a niche as a mixed media visual artist in the ever-growing sphere of fashion photography.

The shoot was for a leading advertising agency and the duo looked shaadi ready in all the shots. Each shot is distinct from the other but the couple looks dazzling in each picture.

Moreover, Haris met Ali Xeeshan who introduced him up to the fashion fraternity. And now, he is working with some of the biggest brands in the industry. The photographer shared the pictures on his Instagram.

Actress Iqra Aziz poured her heart out and thanked Abdullah Haris for such marvelous shots of her and her beau Yasir Hussain.  

We can’t help but notice that Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz have been signing up for a lot of bridal/couple photoshoots these days for various designers.

Aagha Ali, one of the finest actors of the industry, urges women of Pakistan to stay vigilant and avoid sharing private photos with anyone.

Just a few days after the Rabi Pirzada scandal surfaced on social media, another Pakistani celebrity’s private pictures and videos have leaked online.

Pakistani model Samara Chaudhry fell prey to this tragedy when a number of her private videos leaked on social media just recently.

With such ongoing events, the Dil-e-Gumshuda Aagha Ali took Instagram to warn all the women out there about the data theft and the increasing rate of cybercrime.

The actor appealed to the women plus he advised to be cautious and not share such pictures/videos even with their husbands. He also stated that an action like this can turn out to be massively destructive and is highly unsafe.

In the past, actresses like Meera, Sofia Khan, Mathira and Shahista Lodhi have been involved in this scandal and we’re still unaware of any of these actresses deliberately leaking sensitive videos and pictures for a publicity stunt. This has happened from time to time because of the people invading others’ privacy.

According to sources, a group in Lahore is targeting women of the Pakistani media industry and hacking their cell phones but we’re yet to determine who is behind this.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan is setting an example for the citizens of the nation by paying taxes. Khan has paid almost a sum of Rs4.7 million between 1981-2017.

During this period, he was also exempted for a couple of years from paying tax, and a few other years he had only paid a few hundred Rupees, the report reads.

The highest amount of tax paid by the premier was back in 2010. He paid a whopping Rs1, 883,033 in total to tax authorities, followed by Rs562,554 in the year 2011.

Since PM Khan is a registered taxpayer in Pakistan, GEO tried to uncover the amount of money paid by him.

HBL Creates History by Becoming Pakistan’s First RMB Business Bank in China

Habib Bank Limited creates history by becoming the first bank from Pakistan and one of the three banks from South Asia and the MENA region to offer end-to-end intermediation for the Chinese currency Renminbi (RMB).

The HBL Urumqi branch formally commenced the RMB business last week on 7 November 2019 after gaining all regulatory approvals.

With the beginning of RMB clearing capability, the HBL Urumqi branch will provide clearing to HBL branches, subsidiaries, and affiliates.

Habib Bank is now placed to take a leading role in the regional RMB trade, remittance and investment flows.

This unmatched position will further strengthen HBL’s leadership in Pakistan since HBL Urumqi branch is the only foreign bank branch in Xinjiang province.

HBL has also requested the Chinese Regulators to upgrade its Beijing Representative office to a branch. As per expectations, the license will be obtained in the next 2-3 months subject to regulatory approvals.

A high powered delegation from HBL led by Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman HBL and Muhammad Aurangzeb, President & CEO HBL, formally commenced the Urumqi branch’s RMB operations.

Members of the HBL’s board of directors and senior executives of the bank were also present at the event.

Addressing the achievement, Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman HBL proudly stated:

I am very proud that we are here today. The commencement of the RMB business is a stepping stone and we are very hopeful that in the coming years HBL will have more presence in China.

We have also made an application for a branch in Beijing. We want to be a progressive bank, we want to do what is right for the institution, and for the country. For us that is paramount. We want to be an integral part of the Chinese economy and the country.

There shall be no compromises on compliance, under any circumstances. We will do everything that is right.

I am very hopeful that in the coming years this branch, this foundation can give us the springboard to become a bank of relevance in China in the coming decades.

Commenting on this historic first for a Pakistani bank, Muhammad Aurangzeb, President & CEO HBL said they are very grateful to the regulators in China.

We are doubling up our business in China and it will soon become a second home market for HBL.

For our branch in Urumqi we got the RMB license in the shortest possible time so we are very grateful to the regulators in China.

Currently, our focus is to work in developing the RMB intermediation at our Urumqi branch which has gone live and the establishment of the Beijing Branch.

The Chinese regulators are very supportive of developing market-based capabilities and encouraging financial institutions to provide clients best-of-breed leading-edge products and services while managing systems risks well.

We will continue to monitor the opportunities to expand our footprint in China over time.

This recent development is part of HBL’s fresh efforts to explore, grow and expand in China.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (KMBL) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) for a transformation program that will extend over two years.

The essence of this project is to empower farmers through a digital-agri transformation program that will extend over two years.  The project is being undertaken to empower farmers through digital agri-finance solutions and expand outreach to new rural microfinance customers in Pakistan.

The project will comprise a segmentation approach that will drive the Bank’s market strategy by delivering relevant product concepts.  The project will leverage data from both Khushhali’s existing customer base & external sources.

IFC will help develop a digital solution for streamlining processes and nimble credit decisions.  The project will also address with potential value change collaboration possibilities

European Car Sales Hit Decade High in October!

European car sales hit a decade-high record in October. This news was broken by an industry body on Tuesday.

It was found that there was a massive increase of 8.7% in registration to a whopping 1.18 million vehicles “marked the highest October total on record since 2009,” said the European Automobile Manufacturers Association.

Automotive manufacturers have currently been facing a difficult time as the numbers have dropped down, especially in countries like Pakistan.

Over the first 10 months of this year, sales are 0.7 percent lower compared to the same period last year in the EU.

A major reason behind the growth slump in the EU is because of the Brexit uncertainty which drastically impacted all manufacturers.

Even German carmaker Volkswagen shared that worldwide demand has fallen around five percent.

Manufacturers like Honda and Indus Motor Company (Toyota) in Pakistan have even observed non-production days (NPD) for the past months.

NADRA Announces Women Only Fridays

NADRA Women Only Fridays

National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has allocated Fridays to only women to facilitate the masses in general.

This initiative is part of 64 developments regarding the welfare of the citizens, 35 of such initiatives are already implemented and 28 are remaining.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan has directed all the Ministers, Advisors and Special Assistants to present their reports regarding measures they are taking in their department for the welfare of the citizens.

NADRA has come-up with such initiative in the past as well but they were never implemented properly. In 2017 NADRA also declared Friday to be women’s only day.

After these steps, the majority of our female population can easily access the services of the National Database and Registration Authority. As per the sources, there are only 44% registered females out of 105.96 million voters in Pakistan. Such major steps might encourage more female citizens to have a National Identification Card and registered themself for voting.

Last year, President Arif Alvi instructed the authorities at NADRA to come up with a plan for omitting the limitations by women citizens while registration. The President also emphasized the requirement of holding a national identification card.

If our national institutes start taking such small initiatives with the only motivation of benefiting the laymen, it will erase a lot of hurdles faced by the citizen of Pakistan. This is actually great for a country that is heavily populated and the majority stake is of women. Also, our society is male-dominated and most of the females avoid going to such institutes because of the restrictions at home.

Karachi: After Tomatoes, Flour Prices Go Up!

After the citizens of Karachi switched to yogurt as tomato prices reached Rs. 300 just last week, another ingredient’s price is ready to follow the same trend.

It looks like Karachiites will now have to find an alternative to flour as the prices have gone up to Rs.60 to Rs.62 per kilogram.

This means that a sack of 10kg flour now costs Rs.620, about Rs.20 more than it used to be.

The All Pakistan Flour Mills Association has clarified that the sudden hike in price is because wheat has become expensive.

Just one sack of wheat has gone from Rs.5,000 to Rs.5,200 in the open markets.

Furthermore, a flour mill owner added that the only way the prices can crawl back down is if wheat is sold at a cheaper rate in the open markets.

“Flour sellers need more than 200,000 tons of flour daily,” a senior leader of the All Pakistan Flour Mills Association said. “We are just getting 50% of our requirement.” He added.

If the citizens cannot buy flour, they will have to settle for substitutes, which are chickpea flour, Quino, oatmeal, corn, brown rice flour, and others.

The latest news from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the launch of a new toilet finder app for the locals that will help the citizen to find public toilets.

The app will also allow the users to rate the toilets according to the cleanliness and maintenance.

KP government is the most advance governing body incorporating technology for facilitating the citizens.

Earlier this year the government also introduce an app for booming tourism in the region with the name of KPTourism.

This toilet app will be launched on November 19th, province-wide. It will provide information about the nearest toilet such as the condition, distance and even parking space around it. Initially, only 200 public toilets will be listed in the app but later on, the inclusion will be massive.

The name of the app will be Toilet Finder and it will be available on iOS and Android both. These little advancements in our system will definitely be a stepping stone in the development. As per the World Index, Pakistan is on 105th spot in the most innovative countries and we need to improve this.

After such innovations on the local level, we can always grow on the international level. Pakistanis have a lot of talent and potential they only need the right platform. Other provincial governments should take notes from the KP government and start launching apps for citizens’ facilitation especially the Sindh government.
