From Plastic to Metal: The Evolution of Smartphone Design

The turning point came with the introduction of metal-bodied smartphones like the iPhone 5 (2012), which featured an aluminum unibody.

Ever noticed how the finest watches, luxury cars, and high-end gadgets all have one thing in common? Metal. There’s something undeniably premium about its cool, smooth touch—the way it feels substantial without being heavy, sleek without being fragile.

A metal body design isn’t just about durability; it’s a statement of sophistication and expert craftsmanship. It reflects precision engineering, where every curve and edge is meticulously shaped for both strength and elegance. The way light dances off its polished surface, the seamless construction that feels like a single, sculpted masterpiece—this is what premiumness looks and feels like.

The turning point came with the introduction of metal-bodied smartphones like the iPhone 5 (2012), which featured an aluminum unibody design that redefined premium aesthetics and build quality. This shift marked a new era in smartphone design, proving that metal could offer both strength and sophistication. The transition to metal frames not only improved structural integrity but also elevated the user experience, making devices feel more solid and luxurious.

Before the iPhone 5, some manufacturers had already experimented with metal in smartphone construction. One of the earliest examples was the Nokia 8800 (2005), a luxury phone featuring a stainless-steel body that exuded elegance and durability. Similarly, the HTC Legend (2010) introduced a unibody aluminum design that set a new standard for build quality in Android smartphones. The HTC One M7 (2013) further refined this approach, combining sleek design with a robust metal chassis that became an industry benchmark.

Samsung also explored metal construction with the Galaxy Alpha (2014), which was the company’s first smartphone with a metal frame, signaling its transition from plastic to more premium materials. This move was solidified with the release of the Galaxy S6 (2015), which featured a glass-and-metal design that became a staple in Samsung’s flagship series.

While metal brought numerous advantages, such as durability and a premium feel, it also posed challenges. Metal bodies could interfere with wireless signals, making antenna design more complex. Apple addressed this issue with plastic antenna bands in the iPhone 6 (2014), a design choice that became widely adopted by other manufacturers. Additionally, metal made phones slightly heavier, and it was prone to dents and scratches, leading some brands to explore hybrid materials that combined metal with other elements for enhanced resilience.

This legacy continues with the NOTE 50 Pro, featuring Armor Alloy Ultra Resilient Metal—an innovative material that offers lightweight strength and excellent scratch resistance. Unlike traditional materials, this advanced metal provides superior durability without compromising on style, ensuring that modern smartphones can withstand the rigors of daily use while maintaining a sleek, premium aesthetic.

The shift from plastic to metal in smartphone construction is more than just a change in materials—it is a testament to the industry’s commitment to excellence. As users continue to demand stronger, sleeker, and more durable devices, metal remains at the forefront of smartphone design. The NOTE 50 Series stands as a shining example of how cutting-edge engineering and high-quality materials come together to create a device that is as stylish as it is robust. This is not just an evolution; it is a revolution in smartphone craftsmanship.

Saim Ayub Injury Update: Cricketer Returns to Lahore Ahead of PSL

Saim Ayub Injury Update: Pakistan’s teenage batting prodigy Saim Ayub has arrived in Lahore before the eagerly awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10. Yet, his availability for the tournament is still in doubt as he is waiting for a medical go-ahead after undergoing a long rehabilitation stint for an ankle injury.

The prolific left-hander fractured his right ankle while fielding during the Cape Town Test against South Africa in January. The unfortunate mishap kept him out of action for more than two months, including Pakistan’s vital ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. Ayub underwent rehabilitation in London under the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), with reports indicating positive progress.

Fitness Test at NCA Lahore

With the PSL just a few days away, Saim Ayub is to take a crucial fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The test will reveal if he can make it back to competitive cricket in time to play for his franchise, Peshawar Zalmi. PC board insiders say that the recent medical reports from the UK show encouraging signs of recovery. But the ultimate call is left to the judgment of PCB’s medical panel, who will assess his mobility and match preparedness.

Potential Impact on Peshawar Zalmi

If he is cleared, Ayub’s return would be a massive boost for Peshawar Zalmi, who are looking to make a strong PSL 10 run. His energetic batting and capability to push the innings at a high pace make him an important resource for the squad. But the young cricketer is being careful, focusing on long-term fitness rather than returning to action too soon.

Red Bull Replaces Liam Lawson at the Japanese Grand Prix

Red Bull Replaces Liam Lawson at the Japanese Grand Prix

In a shocking twist, Red Bull has replaced Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda just two races into the 2025 Formula 1 season. The change will take effect at the next Japanese Grand Prix, which will mark Tsunoda’s highly anticipated debut for Red Bull on home turf at Suzuka.

A Brief Promotion for Liam Lawson

Liam Lawson’s time as Max Verstappen’s teammate has turned out to be a short one. Even though he was preferred to Tsunoda for the Red Bull drive, the 23-year-old has failed to find his groove with the RB21. His results in the first two rounds have been poor: three back-to-back Q1 knockouts and no points on the board. Red Bull, with its brutal driver choices, has decided to demote Lawson back to Racing Bulls, the junior team of the squad. This will level the pressure currently on him.

Tsunoda Gets His Big Break

Having been on Red Bull’s junior team since 2021, Tsunoda has been fighting for a promotion to the senior team for a long time. Though he was left out in favour of Lawson initially, the Japanese driver is now in one of the most desired seats in the world of motorsport. His first outing in a Red Bull car at his home circuit of Suzuka is an added attraction for Japanese fans.

But there will be high expectations. Red Bull’s second driver has always been a difficult nut to crack. Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon have not been able to keep up with Verstappen’s pace. Tsunoda won’t get much time to settle in, as people are expecting him to deliver from day one.

What Went Wrong for Lawson?

Lawson’s swift demotion indicates Red Bull’s high-pressure environment. Although he performed well in his earlier appearances with Racing Bulls, he was unable to gain traction in the senior team. His poor performances in qualifying, taking a rear-grid finish in China and Australia, were warning signs early on. There are reports indicating that he has been emotionally exhausted by the task.

Looking Ahead

As Tsunoda takes over at Red Bull, Lawson’s future hangs in the balance. A return to Racing Bulls might help him regain confidence. All eyes are now on Tsunoda—can he justify the seat, or is history set to repeat itself?

PSL 10 Anthem Sparks Controversy: Is It Time for a New Voice?

PSL 10 Anthem Sparks Controversy: Is It Time for a New Voice?

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for its 10th edition, but the buzz isn’t just about cricket. The official anthem has become a hot topic, with many questioning the league’s decision to bring back Ali Zafar as the lead singer—again.

Same Singer, Same Debate

Ali Zafar has been the voice of PSL for years, delivering anthems in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2024. Now, as he returns for PSL 10, fans and even franchise owners are raising concerns over the lack of variety.

Multan Sultans’ owner, Ali Khan Tareen, didn’t hold back. Taking to Instagram, he criticized the PSL’s repetitive choices, saying:

“Pakistan has so many amazing artists. Yet almost half of our anthems have been given to the same middle-aged dude, despite franchises raising concerns about the artist. They talk about making this the biggest PSL ever, yet keep giving space to the same recycled voices…”

Tareen’s frustration echoes a growing sentiment among PSL followers. With so much musical talent in Pakistan, why does the league keep circling back to the same artist?

Fan Reactions: Disappointment and Sarcasm

Social media has been buzzing with reactions. Some fans are calling out the PSL for not giving younger artists a chance, while others are simply tired of hearing the same voice year after year.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) sarcastically asked, “Is there anyone else in Pakistan who can sing?” Another wrote, “Not moving on from Ali Zafar after this many PSL seasons shows how much the country has progressed… not!”

The criticism isn’t just about music. Zafar’s 2024 anthem, Khul Ke Khel, also sparked controversy due to his ongoing legal dispute with singer Meesha Shafi. Despite resistance from some franchises, the song—featuring Aima Baig—was eventually released.

What’s Next for PSL 10?

While the anthem debate rages on, the cricketing action is set to begin. The 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League kicks off on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The question remains: will PSL management take this criticism seriously in the future, or will the anthem continue to be a predictable affair? For now, fans will have to accept that PSL 10’s official soundtrack is once again in familiar hands.

Rashid Latif Slams Pakistan’s Performance, Calls for Coaching Changes

Pakistan’s forgettable T20I series against New Zealand has sparked frustration, and former cricketer Rashid Latif isn’t holding back.

After a crushing 4-1 series defeat, Latif has called for major changes, suggesting that the head coach and selectors should step down following the team’s dismal performance.

The final T20I in Christchurch summed up Pakistan’s struggles. The Men in Green managed only 128 runs, which New Zealand chased down in just 10 overs.

Tim Seifert led the carnage with a brutal 97 off 38 balls, smashing 10 sixes. James Neesham, with his five-wicket haul, walked away with the Player of the Match award. It was a thrashing, plain and simple.

Speaking on a private TV channel, Rashid Latif questioned the credibility of head coach Aqib Javed’s comments about preparing for the Asia Cup and World Cup.

Given how Pakistan performed in this series, he believes discussions about long-term plans don’t hold much weight. Instead, he insists the focus should be on immediate improvements.

“I don’t think our head coach intends to stay until the World Cup and Asia Cup after this performance,” Latif said bluntly. “After such results, there should be no talk about future plans. The head coach needs to address the team’s daily performance.”

Rashid Latif also raised concerns over Sufiyan Muqeem’s exclusion. The young spinner showed promise, yet he didn’t get a proper run in the team. Latif believes Pakistan needs players who can uplift the side, and Muqeem could have been one of them.

The former wicketkeeper-batter didn’t mince words, stating that both the head coach and selectors should take responsibility and step down. “After such performances, the head coach and selectors should resign,” he concluded.

With the Asia Cup and World Cup not too far away, Pakistan finds itself in a crisis. Can they bounce back, or will this series defeat lead to bigger changes? Time will tell, but one thing is clear—voices like Rashid Latif’s won’t stay quiet if things don’t improve.

Two Key Players Join Pakistan ODI Squad for New Zealand Series

haris-rauf-usman-khan-pakistan-odi-squad-new-zealand

With the T20I series against New Zealand done and dusted, Pakistan is now shifting gears for the upcoming three-match ODI series. While the 4-1 defeat in T20Is wasn’t ideal, the selectors have made two key additions to strengthen the squad—Haris Rauf and Usman Khan.

Haris Rauf: A Well-Deserved Call-Up

Haris Rauf was Pakistan’s standout bowler in the T20I series. He took eight wickets in just four matches, with an impressive average of 12.25. Despite Pakistan’s struggles, Rauf kept firing, proving once again why he’s a vital part of the bowling attack.

His inclusion in the ODI squad makes perfect sense. With Naseem Shah leading the pace battery, adding Rauf’s express pace gives Pakistan a lethal combination.

Usman Khan: The Backup Wicket-Keeper

On the other hand, Usman Khan joins the squad as a reserve wicket-keeper. Mohammad Rizwan remains the first-choice behind the stumps, but having a solid backup is always a smart move, especially on long tours.

Usman has been making waves in domestic cricket, and while he might not get an immediate chance, his selection is a sign that the management sees potential in him.

Squad Shuffle: Who’s In and Who’s Out?

A total of eight players from the T20I squad have joined the ODI camp in Napier. This group includes Haris Rauf, Usman Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Khushdil Shah, Irfan Khan Niazi, Abrar Ahmed, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Mohammad Ali.

Meanwhile, eight players from the T20I squad are heading home via Dubai. This group includes Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Umair Bin Yousuf, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Abbas Afridi, Abdul Samad, and Jahandad Khan.

Pakistan’s Full Squad for the ODI Series

Pakistan’s ODI squad looks balanced, with a mix of experienced players and fresh faces. The inclusion of Haris Rauf adds firepower to the bowling lineup, while Usman Khan’s selection ensures solid backup for the wicket-keeping role.

With the T20I series behind them, Pakistan will be eager to bounce back and finish the tour on a high. The three-match series kicks off on March 29 in Napier, followed by the second match on April 2 in Hamilton, and the final game on April 5 in Mount Maunganui.

Squad: Mohammad Rizwan (c)(wk), Salman Ali Agha (vc), Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Akif Javed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Wasim Jnr., Mohammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Sufiyan Muqeem, Tayyab Tahir, Haris Rauf, and Usman Khan.

UAE Have Arrested 10 Pakistanis for Begging, Set for Deportation

UAE Have Arrested 10 Pakistanis for Begging, Set for Deportation
UAE Have Arrested 10 Pakistanis for Begging, Set for Deportation

Authorities in the UAE have arrested 10 Pakistanis for begging, including five women, as reported by national media on Thursday.

Citing sources from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), UAE officials have informed Pakistani authorities about the arrests. Among those detained were three women from Vehari, Punjab—Amina Bibi, Kausar Bibi and Farzana Bibi—along with Jamila Bibi and Zubaida Bibi from Lahore. They were arrested in different operations while begging in the UAE.

The arrested individuals have been jailed and are set to be deported to Pakistan. In addition to the women, Muhammad Zakariya from Dera Ghazi Khan, Waseem Haider from Bahawalnagar, Muhammad Usman from Lahore, Ejaz Khan from Charsadda and Abdullah from Peshawar were also taken into custody for begging.

Officials confirmed that emergency passports have been issued for their repatriation, and upon their return to Pakistan, they will face legal action.

Pakistani Beggars in Foreign Countries

The involvement of Pakistani beggars in foreign countries, including the UAE, not only constitutes illegal activity but also damages Pakistan’s international reputation. Their actions contribute to a negative global perception, portraying the country as struggling with poverty and lawlessness. The impact of such activities goes beyond individual arrests and can harm Pakistan’s diplomatic relations, economic prospects, and employment opportunities for legal Pakistani workers abroad.

Many countries consider organised begging a form of human trafficking and a serious crime, further complicating Pakistan’s global image. The situation is similar to other issues affecting Pakistan’s reputation, such as the Karsaz Road accident, which highlighted concerns over law enforcement and governance.

Authorities emphasise the need for stricter measures to prevent illegal migration for begging and other unlawful activities. The FIA and other law enforcement agencies are expected to take action against those involved in sending individuals abroad for begging.

The government has been urged to implement stronger policies to control human trafficking, illegal migration and related crimes to protect Pakistan’s international standing. Cases like the UAE arrests serve as reminders of the importance of maintaining law and order to improve the country’s image globally.

“Fantastic Four: First Steps Will Save the MCU,” Star Says

“Fantastic Four: First Steps Will Save the MCU,” Star Says

Marvel enthusiasts have a reason to cheer with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and actor Paul Walter Hauser is stoking the flames with outrageous predictions. Based on Hauser, this movie might be the start of the MCU’s next golden age, just like Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther were back in the day.

“So I think our film, Fantastic Four: First Steps, to me, speaking only from my opinion, all that I experienced and was a part of, all that I felt being in the company of the creatives on the movie, I feel we are the Marvel film of the year,” Hauser recently told TheDirect. “I feel we are the ones to watch.”

High Expectations and Comparisons to MCU Classics

With the MCU facing issues with staying at the same level of success as it once was, both fans and critics want to know if The Fantastic Four will help re-stir interest in Marvel’s ever-growing universe. As the movie starts Phase Six of the MCU, a lot is riding on it, and its success will determine the future of the franchise.

The journey to this reboot has not been smooth. Following Josh Trank’s doomed 2015 effort to resurrect The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox, the venture hung in limbo. Nevertheless, after Disney acquired Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios stepped in and took over the project, making the film official later that same year. Fantastic Four: First Steps has had several creative upheavals before WandaVision director Matt Shakman finally picked up the project.

The casting has also created a lot of buzz, with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. They are supported by Hauser, John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, Sarah Niles and Ralph Ineson, who will be playing the cosmic villain Galactus.

The Long Road to the MCU

Although Hauser’s enthusiasm does imply Marvel is working on something special, he did also accept that not every movie can be an assured winner. “None of us are 100%. None of us hit the mark every time,” he confessed. If, though, his assurance is justified, then The Fantastic Four: First Steps may provide the fresh start Marvel so needs.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see if all the hype is worth it—The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be hitting theaters on July 25, 2025, readying their appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.

FIA to Probe Crypto Trading Activities of Armughan Qureshi

The special anti-terrorism court has issued a written order allowing the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to interrogate the crypto trading activities of Armughan Qureshi in daylight inside the jail in a money laundering case. The court has also directed crypto coin trading platforms to share the data of Coinfactorypk, the ID used by Armughan for crypto trading.

According to the order, the FIA stated in its application that the accused had already been sent to jail by the court in the kidnapping and murder case of Mustafa Amir. The FIA mentioned that the accused is also facing charges under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and they sought permission to investigate him in this case.

The FIA officials informed the court that they needed to interrogate the accused regarding his bank accounts, which were operated by his employees, Abdul Rahim and Rahim Bakhsh. The investigation would focus on bank transactions, trade history, internet protocol and other related details.

The court stated in its order that it had no objection to the FIA interrogating the accused inside the jail. The FIA is permitted to question him for nine days within the prison but is not allowed to take him outside. The interrogation will take place from morning until sunset. The Superintendent of Central Jail has been directed to allow the FIA investigation officer to conduct the interrogation.

The Investigation Progress

The case is being closely monitored, and the authorities are expected to follow all legal protocols during the investigation. Meanwhile, in a separate development, the issue of financial crimes, including digital transactions, remains a key concern for law enforcement agencies. The connection between digital financial activities and money laundering has become an area of focus, especially after cases like the Karsaz Road accident, which highlighted the need for stricter monitoring.

As the investigation progresses, authorities will examine how crypto trading platforms were used in this case. Similar financial crime cases, including money laundering through digital transactions, have been reported in various cases, drawing attention to the importance of regulation in the crypto market. The FIA aims to gather detailed information on how the accused managed transactions and whether illegal funds were moved through digital assets.

The next steps in the case will depend on the findings of the interrogation and the data shared by the crypto platforms. The court’s decision allows law enforcement agencies to take necessary action while ensuring that all legal procedures are followed.

PIA Flight Ban in the UK to Remain in Place

PIA Flight Ban in the UK to Remain in Place
PIA Flight Ban in the UK to Remain in Place

The PIA Flight Ban in the UK is to remain in place, as confirmed by the United Kingdom Department for Transport (DfT). This decision ends speculation about an immediate return after nearly four years.

A DfT spokesperson explained that airlines must complete a strict approval process before the PIA Flight Ban in the UK is lifted. The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is working with Pakistani authorities on this matter.

The UK Air Safety List includes airlines banned from operating in the country due to safety concerns. According to the UK government’s website, all Pakistani carriers will remain restricted from running commercial flights to, from and within the UK.

Recent reports suggested that the British Air Safety Committee considered lifting the ban, raising hopes in Pakistan. However, UK officials clarified that PIA still does not meet the required safety standards.

Read more: Missing PIA Plane Wheel Found at Karachi Airport

The ban was first imposed in July 2020 by both the UK and European aviation regulators. This decision came after a scandal revealed that dozens of Pakistani pilots were flying with fake licenses. The then-aviation minister, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, exposed this after a tragic PIA Airbus A-320 crash in Karachi.

The scandal caused a PIA Flight Ban in the UK, the European Union and the United States. It also resulted in financial losses of around Rs40 billion ($144 million) annually for the already struggling airline.

Despite the UK ban, PIA achieved a small breakthrough in January 2025 by resuming direct flights to Europe, starting with a flight from Islamabad to Paris.

PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan expressed optimism, stating that once the UK authorities approve flights, London, Manchester and Birmingham will be among the first destinations PIA aims to serve.

Marvel Studios is also gearing up for Thunderbolts team of antiheroes and reformed villains joining the MCU. The Thunderbolts lineup includes Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Wyatt Russell’s John Walker (U.S. Agent).

Also joining the team are Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprising her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the team’s enigmatic leader.

Characters We Won’t Be Seeing This Time

Despite the mega-casting and the star-studded lineup, we can’t help but note some key MCU characters that are unfortunately absent this time.

There’s no hint of either Tom Holland or Scarlett Johansson, two of the biggest names of MCU universe. Last week, Scarlett even sounded off on the dim outlook for her return to the MCU. Also, there is no slated appearance from Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange and Mark Ruffalo’s fan-favourite Hulk. These exclusions have made fans curious and sad.

Directors and Their Vision

The “Avengers: Doomsday” production has marked the return of OG directors Joe and Anthony Russo, the visionary directors that made “Avengers: Infinity Wars” and “Avengers: Endgame” come to life.

The directors have described the film as a “new beginning” for the MCU, signaling their vision for a fresh narrative direction post-Endgame. It is a much-needed vision to save Marvel.

To Save MCU From a Possible “Fallout”

It’s no secret that over the past couple of years Marvel Studio and MCU has been deteriorating. Since the success of “Endgame,” the MCU has faced several hurdles and box office misfires. This includes 2021’s “Eternals” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in 2023. Despite some success in the form of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Marvel is constantly falling short of the expectations, especially after “Endgame” era. The franchise peaked with its superheroes and has now set the standards too high that even they themselves are failing to reach it.

Hopefully, with the new stacked cast list, this fallout can be revived. Perhaps Avengers: Doomsday can serve as a comeback that will take the studio back to it’s glory days.

Punjab

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has announced a nine-day Eid-ul-Fitr holiday schedule for public schools from March 28. Secretary of Schools Khalid Wattoo stated that government schools will reopen with new academic session to commence on April 7, annual results will be declared on April 4.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. It is one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims worldwide, fulfilled by communal prayers, feasting and acts of charity. The exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr still depends on the sighting of the moon. This year, we expect it to fall on March 31, following the completion of 29 days of Ramadan.

This extended Eid-ul-Fitr holiday schedule will allow students, teachers and staff members to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families and friends, providing a well-deserved break before the commencement of the new academic session.

Council of Islamic Ideology Declares First Wife’s Right to Annul Marriage as Un-Islamic

Council of Islamic Ideology Declares First Wife’s Right to Annul Marriage as Un-Islamic
Council of Islamic Ideology Declares First Wife’s Right to Annul Marriage as Un-Islamic

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has ruled that the first wife’s right to annul her marriage if her husband remarries without her permission is un-Islamic. The decision was made during a meeting held on Wednesday, chaired by Dr. Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi.

During the session, council members reviewed a total of 19 agenda items. The members stated that any judicial ruling allowing a first wife to dissolve her marriage under such circumstances contradicts Islamic teachings.

It was also discussed that premarital testing for thalassemia or other contagious diseases could be included in the Nikahnama (marriage contract) as an optional provision. However, the final decision to marry will remain with both parties under Islamic law.

The Council of Islamic Ideology invited four experts from the Sindh Institute of Child and Neonatology to present details regarding the establishment of a human milk bank. The experts answered 33 questions raised by the members, along with additional queries. The council decided to conduct further research on the matter and will give its final verdict in the next meeting.

Other Rulings

On the issue of organ transplantation, the council ruled that kidney and liver transplants are permissible as long as the donor’s life is not put at risk.

The council also decided that religious terms such as Salah (prayer), Ayah (verse), and Masjid (mosque) should not be translated into English and should be kept in their original Arabic form.

The members stressed the need to raise awareness about electricity theft and urged scholars and intellectuals to play their role in educating people.

Regarding pension funds, the council ruled that newly hired employees may be required to participate in the contributory pension system, but existing employees cannot be forced into it. It was also emphasised that pension funds must not be linked to any interest-based financial system.

On Zakat distribution, the council stressed that funds should be given to deserving individuals without delay. However, if administrative processes cause delays, these funds can be placed in profit-generating Islamic bank accounts. In case of financial losses, the government will be responsible for compensating them.

The Council of Islamic Ideology reaffirmed its previous stance that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Transgender Bill contains un-Islamic elements similar to the Transgender Act of 2018, which had already been declared inconsistent with Islamic principles by the council and the Federal Shariat Court. The council also objected to the inclusion of the Guru-Chela (mentor-disciple) concept in the bill, deeming it un-Islamic.

At the end of the session, prayers were offered for the late mother of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further research and discussions on these issues in the future.

The Karsaz Road accident has sparked outrage among residents. Following the incident, citizens at the scene apprehended the car driver. In a state of anger, the mob physically assaulted the driver before the police arrived.

Police reached the location promptly after the Karsaz Road accident and took the driver into custody. However, enraged citizens surrounded the police vehicle, refusing to let the authorities take the driver away.

Another couple, who narrowly escaped the crash, described the chilling moment. “The car hit us too, but fortunately, we managed to stay upright. The scene was horrifying,” said the shaken woman, breaking down in tears.

The Karsaz Road accident highlights the increasing concerns over road safety in the city. Reckless driving and weak enforcement of traffic laws continue to take lives, leaving families in grief.

Earlier, another tragic accident occurred when a tanker lost control and veered onto the opposite side of the road, claiming the lives of a couple and their newborn child.

The victims, identified as Abdul Qayyum and Zainab, were returning home from Koohi Goth Hospital in Landhi after a medical check-up. Abdul Qayyum was a government employee.

Following the incident, furious citizens vandalised the tanker by breaking its windows and physically assaulting the driver before handing him over to the police.

These accidents, along with many others, indicate that Karachi has witnessed a sharp increase in traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles, with over 207 fatalities recorded this year.

The city’s traffic police have been making efforts to control such incidents by issuing challans and canceling vehicle fitness certificates.
