If you need an iPhone battery replacement, you’d better hurry up because Apple’s discounted battery offer is nearing its end.
Around this time last year, several iPhone users had experienced severe battery issues and significant slowing down of their phones due to throttling.
After receiving massive backlash, Apple came out and apologised to its consumers and offered them a discounted battery replacement for older iPhones. The price dropped from $79 to $29- a $50 discount.
This covers various models such as 6, 6 Plus, 6S Plus, 7, 7S, 7 Plus and SE.
The offer was also extended to newer phones, 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. The latest models, iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR are not yet eligible.

You will see the current battery’s maximum capacity and it’ll also tell you if you need a battery replacement.
Battery availability depends on the stock. It is wise to replace it sooner rather than later, the offer is available worldwide but ends soon on 31st December!
Users are advised to perform a full backup and then a factory reset before handing their phones.
The incident occurred on November 26 at around 1:15 am. Tahir booked a bike ride using the online app near Tariq Road. The passenger reached the end of the street after confirming the correct license plate of the bike.
After being aboard the bike, the captain drove for a few miles and later, pulled out a gun to snatch the passenger’s mobile phone and wallet.

According to law enforcement officers, three more people are involved in robbing passengers and might be part of the online ride-hailing app service. Consequently, a gang is possibly involved in this crime. Police are now on a lookout for the remaining members.

Samsung seems to be a big fan of Apple! Recently, the brand’s Nigerian Twitter account tweeted about the Galaxy Note 9 and boasted about its Super AMOLED display.
However, the person in charge of social media turned out to be a huge fan of Apple instead as the tweet was not submitted with an Android device.
It came it to light after popular web video producer Marques Brownlee pointed it out. He captioned it as – Might as well add “Twitter police” to my bio at this point.
Samsung Saudia Arabia had also made a similar blunder back in November by promoting the Super AMOLED display via iPhone!
Samsung is not the first brand to have made this mistake. Earlier, Marques named and shamed Google ambassador and Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma who was spotted promoting Google Pixel 2XL with an iPhone!

Last week, the crooner sat down with a heart-to-heart interview with Samina Peerzada and reflected upon his rise to fame and days of glory.
The singer recollected how he broke up with Jal-the band and kickstarted a stellar musical career of his own.
However, Atif Aslam revealed some shocking details about the split while naming and shaming the leading Jal member, Gohar Rasheed.
The band made as many as six to seven songs together in a span of 3 years. But an ugly incident became the reason for Jal’s downfall.
Atif revealed the whole story to his fans that began from the time his elder brother started managing the group.
My brother was managing us because he was working for a marketing company at that point in time.
He left his work as it was a full-time job. A monetary discussion never happened between us.
However, after a couple of months, Gohar Rasheed told Atif Aslam that they can not continue to perform in the band together.
When probed by Atif about the reason, Gohar demanded that his brother should manage the band as well if Aslam’s brother will continue to be in charge.
Atif stated in the interview:
I got to know that the reason for gohar’s demand was that you’ll be getting more money than I will and that really annoyed me
Later, another feud between the band became the ultimate reason for the split!
The band was supposed to perform at a concert. After days of rehearsing and agreeing to perform together, Gohar demanded money from Atif prior to the concert.
When Atif Aslam denied receiving money before the performance, Gohar ditched him at the last moment to perform for another concert in Karachi.
Atif told Samina Peerzada:
“I understood then that it was sort of blackmailing, and I didn’t have the money. Of course, if I had something then I would have definitely given it to him”
What was worse, Gohar lied to the concert management about Atif absence.
So basically he went there for [the band’s] representation and he lied to them when they asked him where the lead singer is. He told them there’s been a death in his family and he can’t come
After the breakup, Aslam went solo. However, he revealed that he has no grudges against Gohar and has forgiven him for all that happened in the past.
“I have met him a couple of times. He told me he regretted it, and I felt a little awkward”
According to Marriott Group, its servers and database were breached, compromising 500 million guests information from credit card details to other data.
Reportedly, there is a probability that it had been breached previously as well, and possibly multiple times.
The information stolen includes credit card information, passport scans, addresses, phone numbers and email IDs.
This news was announced by Marriott Group on 30th November and was identified as cybercrime. Apparently, these breaches have been going on since 2014. The group was unaware of the breach as it surfaced only after September.
An alert had gone off to the IT department after an unauthorised access was attempted. Accordingly, cybersecurity firm Recorded Future has stated that the data has not yet been spotted on the dark web.
However, a lot of the data which was stolen holds a potential threat to the victims, including possible identity theft. Marriott confirmed the specific type of data that was lifted off from their servers – names, address, phone numbers, emails, account information, passport information, date of birth, gender and encrypted credit card details.
Not just that, the hotel chain also hinted that the hackers might have captured the keys to the credit card details, meaning that the hackers can make transactions without notifying the account owner.
The Starwood’s reservation system, the same one which was hacked, is also used for other hotel chains all around the world. These include Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, St. Regis, Four Points, Aloft, Le Méridien, Tribute, Design Hotels, Elements and the Luxury Collection. However, the Residence Inn and the Ritz-Carlton.
Marriott Group Sued
Marriott Group has alerted the authorities about the breach and is helping the officials catch the culprits behind the massive breach. However, just a couple hours after they broke the news, the group is now being sued for “negligence, breach of confidence, and deceptive and unfair trade practices”.
On the other hand, US Senator Ron Wyden has argued that those employees who are unable to keep the data of their customers safe from hackers should be sent to jail.
He reportedly said:
Until companies like Marriott feel the threat of multi-billion dollar fines and jail-time for their senior executives, these companies won’t take privacy seriously,
The group is reaching out to customers whose data has been compromised and is doing everything in their ability to secure your information.

One of Lahore’s leading universities, King Edward Medical University, has imposed a new dress code for its students.
The university has made the existing rules and regulations even more strict for wearing uniforms.
King Edward Medical University students have been banned from wearing slippers, sandals, jeans and t-shirts. The institute has also made it compulsory for all students to don a lab coat during hospital visits, especially in the patient care section.
If not complied with, students will be punished. They will not be allowed to attend classes for the entire day or the wards.
Furthermore, directives have been issued to staff for implementation of the canons.
Founded in 1860-Lahore, King Edward Medical University added Mayo Hospital as an affiliated hospital. During the same year, it became affiliated with the University of Punjab. In 1887, the institute added Lady Aitchison Hospital as the second teaching hospital.
After the Indo-Pak partition, the university became the only medical college in Pakistan and in 2005 became a charter to award degrees in its own right.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is being expected to raise its benchmark interest rate in the next monetary policy in an announcement today. If so, this will make it difficult for job seekers to find employment.
This is because, in order to reach economic stability benchmark, the central bank will raise its interest rate by 1%. If so, businesses and manufacturing sectors will come under pressure and other employment firms in the job market.
SBP’s motive behind the possible-decision, if taken, will be due to control inflation. In order to achieve this goal, the policy rate will change. The policy rate is the interest rate at which commercial banks borrow money from the central bank.
A hike in the interest rate means commercial banks will also increase their interest rates, making borrowing more expensive for individuals, businesses and the government. Since manufacturing businesses are more dependant on loans, this decision will impact them the most.
In such situations, hiring freeze is applied and employment opportunities fall. Often, employers have to let go of employees by down-sizing in order to recover some of the finances for the company.
On the other hand, this also means that the government, which is the biggest borrower from the bank, will also have to re-consider all development projects, and will have to put a few plans on hold, even hiring plans.

Foton JW Auto Park (Pvt) Ltd. is formally starting production from its automobile assembly plant on Friday, 30th November 2018 in Pakistan.
On Wednesday it was learned that PM Imran Khan is expected to attend the launch event and inaugurate the plant by cutting the ribbon at the event.
Official sources have stated that Foton JW Auto Park (Pvt) Ltd. is the first company which had a 50/50 joint venture with a Chinese company in the auto sector, and is officially launching production from its assembly plant on Friday.

Changsha Foton Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd President Wang Tao, and JW SEZ Group President Shah Faisal Afridi on behalf of Foton JW Auto Park (Pvt.) Ltd, will also attend the event and have already requested the PM to also attend it.
The Prime Minister has accepted the invitation, said the official of the ministry. Sources also state that a Joint Venture was officially signed in December 2016 between Changsha Foton Vehicle Technology Co. Ltd and JW SEZ Group.
Initially, $150 million worth of investment has been made at a ratio of 50/50 by both partners. They also added that the plant is located in Lahore over a 50-acre with the current plant capacity at 30,000 units.
They also said that product range (Phase-I) includes light and medium commercial cargo and dump trucks, minivans, and SUVs. The new plant is also expected to provide direct employment for almost 500 individuals.
The future plans (Phase 2 and 3) of Foton JW Auto Park JV according to the sources, is an investment of $300 million through the Joint Venture within the auto sector.
The plant capacity is also expected to grow to almost 100-acres, enhance the capacity to 100,000 units annually and increase the range of products by producing heavy trucks, buses, and energy vehicles.
After completion of Phase 2 and 3, the direct employment figure is expected to increase to almost 3,500 hirings.
The Joint Venture was established as a result of regressive economic growth through the Pak-China Economic Corridor (CPEC). A dialogue was also held earlier between JW SEZ and Foton that resulted in a Joint Venture named Foton JW Auto Park.
Foton Envisions is expected to become the largest commercial vehicle within the next 5 years. It is already the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, with the widest product range in China.

A senior official of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has said that individual Umrah E-Visas will be issued to pilgrims.
Specific categories of people will be granted the Visa. Interested individuals will be able to apply for the individual Umrah E-Visas directly, as per the undersecretary of the ministry for Umrah affairs, Abdul Aziz Wahan.
He said:
“We want to ensure comfortable stay of pilgrims during their pilgrimage in Kingdom starting from embarkation to visits of Holy sites, performing rituals and up to return to home.”
He also informed that the E-Visas will be linked with different governmental agencies, Adding that:
“We will emphasize upon the adoption of the electronic visa system during the agreements.”
Furthermore, it was revealed that the data and images of the pilgrims will be scanned through the new electronic visa system.
The information was disclosed by the leader of the ministry office for the realization of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, Wazan, as he was speaking from a workshop titled ”The First Phase of Electronic Visa” in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia.
Earlier, it was also revealed how Pakistanis top the list of Umrah pilgrims, and the Umrah pilgrims from the country this year numbered 262,695. India follows with 140,505 Pilgrims.

On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan invited the President of Federation Internation De Football Association (FIFA) Gianni Infantino, to visit Pakistan.
Pakistani star football player Kaleemullah Khan shared the big news on his official Facebook page. He wrote: “Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited FIFA President Gianni Infantino to visit Pakistan in an effort to revive football & sports activities in Pakistan.”
PM Khan has extended the invitation in order to revive football and other sports activities in the country.
Earlier, Malik Amir Dogar- a member of Punjab Football Council, called on the PM and discussed Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) elections and current status of the game in the country.
He added that all sporting federations in Pakistan will soon have qualified professionals and no more favouritism or nepotism will be accepted.
Imran Khan told Dogar that the promotion of the game in the country is a priority for the state and that it was devising plans to increase the standard of sports.
There is no official word yet if the invitation has been accepted or declined.

The Board of Intermediary and Secondary Education, Faisalabad has imposed a ban on giving extra sheets to the students during examinations.
According to the new rule, Matric students will receive a 24-page answer booklet and a 32-page answer sheet will be given to the Intermediate students on their respective exam day.
A notification regarding this one student, one answer sheet policy has been issued to all schools and colleges in Faisalabad.
According to the officials, this step has been taken to keep a check on students cheating during exams. Speaking to Samaa TV, a board official said that whenever the members of “copying mafia” always aim to cheat while asking for extra sheets.
To overcome this problem, Matric and Intermediate students from now on should be able to answer in their 24-page and 32-page booklets, respectively.
Access to only a single sheet will make the students stick to the point and write their answers concisely. The board officials have also warned that irrelevant stuff in the answer sheets will be penalized.
This is a good step taken by BISE, Faisalabad. It will also overshadow the wrong perception of “more sheets, more marks” among students and they will focus more on the conceptual study than rote learning.

Karachi development projects are in full swing and the metropolis is undergoing massive evolution in terms of infrastructure.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah during a meeting has said that Karachi has been given top priority for development.
A pool of Rs53 billion has been allocated under Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2018-19 against 365 schemes of Rs218.6b that have been launched.
The meeting held on Wedesday was also attended by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Planning and Development (P&D) Chairman Mohammad Waseem, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Jamal Abro, Finance Secretary Najam Shah, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani, Local Government Secretary Khalid Hyder Shah, Local Government Special Secretary Niaz Soomro, Project Director Khalid Masroor and others.
Reportedly, a total of 365 proposed schemes were submitted out of which 16 mega projects for the city have been completed in 2016-17 while 17 other mega projects are near completion.
These projects include upgrading of Pipri Filter Plant, Drigh Road flyover, Manzil Pump flyover, construction of link road from Khairpur Town to University Road, Tariq Road, Mosamyat Road, Hub River Road, Surjani to Madinatul Hikmat Road, widening of Shahrah-e-Faisal, remodelling of Baloch Colony flyover, storm water drain from Jinnah International Terminal to Chakora Nala bridge at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Gizri Boulevard and construction of storm water drain from Hassan Square to Lyari River.
Furthermore, P&D Chairman Mohammad Waseem informed the meeting that 40 schemes of Rs128,441.255 million have been launched through ADP 2018-19 and this year’s allocation is Rs34,476.292m.

PTI Proposes Plan for Karachi’s Development
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has finally proposed a package for Karachi’s development.
The plan lays significance on the city’s infrastructure, public places, transportation, water, and sanitation.

With the rising water crisis taking over Karachi, the government has suggested the upgrade of Dhabeji and Pipri pumping station. It also proposed purification of seawater to fight water shortage in the city.
The plan mention improvement of Karachi Zoo, Balaji and Manchar lakes, Karachi Zoo, Safari Park, Kirthar National Park, and other public spaces.
In transportation, the development of Green Line Bus Service and circular railway system has been proposed.

Kemari Harbour To Be Turned Into A Picnic Spot
The iconic Kemari Harbor in Karachi will be ready to greet visitors very soon!
Recently, the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi has announced that a restoration operation of Kemari Harbour is under process to turn it into a scenic picnic spot.
The Minister took to his twitter account and wrote that Kemari will be a place that everyone will love to visit.
He wrote:
Slow and steady it’s getting there. This will inshallah be a place that everyone will love to visit. #KemariPort #CleanPakistan #100DaysAgenda.
The ministry is currently executing its finishing touches around the harbor and it will be open to the public very soon.
While updating about the renovation of the harbor, Ali Haider Zaidi said:

The restoration operation was started by the minister last month and promised that the process will be completed in a month. He shared some of the details about the new picnic spot and informed that it will include a pickup & drop off jetty.
He said:

Numaish Chowrangi is Closing Down for Construction!
Update: Karachi Traffic Police has announced that the route from Numaish Chowrangi to Capri Cinema will remain closed from 4th October 2018 onwards, due to Green Line Project Work on M.A. Jinnah Road.
Being one of the busiest tracks in the city, measures have been taken by KTP to divert the traffic from Capri Cinema to Saddar Dawakhana Road and Soldier Bazar.
Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited has generated a map to help the citizens understand the diversion route and to highlight the construction zone.
The track highlights the construction area (red) on M.A. Jinnah Road, from Capri Cinema to Numaish Chowrangi, with Parsi Colony on one side and Central Jacob Lines on the other.
Citizens can opt for the alternate routes, Saddar Dawakhana Road and Soldier Bazar Road, highlighted in green to avoid any hassle.
Though this route will be closed for an indefinite period of time, KIDCL has requested Karachities to cooperate until the project is under construction and to drive carefully meanwhile.
The newly-elected Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has vowed to complete all the development projects in the city.
“Projects aimed at welfare and well-being of the people must be completed on time”
He also stressed the importance of the Green Line Bus Project in Karachi.
The Greenline project is vital for the transport of the city. I will approach the provincial and federal governments to address the bottlenecks surrounding the project so that people may benefit from the modern transport facility
Completed Karachi Development Projects
Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had ordered that the four major projects i.e the renovation of Tipu Sultan Road, Tipu Sultan Flyover, Sunset-Gizri Boulevard Flyover, and Cantt Station road.
Tipu Sultan Overpass is now open for traffic.
Tipu Sultan Road Intersection Flyover Length is of 265 Meter and 8.60 width. The projects’ overall cost is 668.137 Million. The construction was started in February 2018 and has been completed within 6 months in August 2018.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Pakistan held its annual Green Office Conference in the capital city. WWF shared that the metropolitian city of Karachi and City of Gardens Lahore are among the most polluted cities in the world.
The aim of the event was to establish a consensus between the public sector and private sectors, and to give awareness about enviornmental pollution.
It was mentioned that responsibilities need to be taken in order to control the quality of air.
Lahore and Karachi are among the 10 most polluted cities in the world in terms of air quality according to AirVisual, an air quality monitor. The ranking today puts Lahore on top of the list with urgent action needed to tackle this issue -WWF Pakistan Director General Hammad Naqi Khan

A presentation was shared by energy and air pollution analyst, Green Peace, Lauri Myllyvytra on how to prevalent the air quality. He also shared insights to the tactics countries like China and cities in the US and European Union are taking to tackle the situation.
Even Environmental Protection Department (EPD) Director General Syeda Malika spoke on the occasion to the present individuals on the current smog policy and shared highlights from the Punjab Clean Air Action Plan.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam also shared his insights on the ‘Clean Green Pakistan’ initiative.
