Ever since the government issued SRO 1067(1)2017, a sort of uproar has been seen in the used local car market.
According to the new SRO, authorities have done their best to detect those who have been misusing used car import schemes, Baggage, Gift and Transfer of Residence.
However, now a rumor has started to spread on social media claiming that in 2018 the import of used cars will shut down and a ban will be implicated in it. This claim is baseless and is a hoax, there is no such ban to be imposed.
The commerce secretary Younus Dagha, while talking to ET, has said;
“We want to discourage unnecessary imports at this time to curtail the growing trade deficit.”
Pakistanis have imported 56,000 cars in 2015-16 fiscal year and 65,000 in 2016-17, leading to the decision of the government to impose a strict import policy to reduce trade deficit in the current fiscal year which is ending on June 30, 2018.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has announced that various consultants, specialists, and medical doctors will be sent from Pakistanis to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC).
An official delegation has come from the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia to a visit to Pakistan. It has been reported that they will be holding interviews in Pakistan starting today, January 2nd and will be selecting doctors to send to the KSA.
The Categories in Medicine that are needed in Saudi Arabia are as follows:
Overseas Employment Corporation is the only organization that is recognized by the government of Pakistan and receives a minimum fee charge as well that is approved by the Government.
OEC has offices in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta and will be processing the applications from any Pakistani city.
Technicians Wanted for Dubai
The organization also requires Pakistani staff for Dubai, UAE which includes HVAC technicians, refrigeration, kitchen, and laundry equipment technicians, electricians, and plumbers.

After the government’s gift of increased fuel prices on the first day of the new year, it seems like Suzuki Pakistan could not hold themselves back to do the same.
Toyota’s reason behind their change of price was the increase of the price of imported parts, Suzuki has joined the bandwagon!
The reason is the devaluation of the rupee. Since not all parts are manufactured locally, many parts need to be imported.
“We believe the price increase will enable Pak Suzuki to pass on the impact of rising costs on to end consumers without any significant dent to volumes, given current high demand,” JS Research report
Since the prices have increased for the parts, it means that the price of the cars has also seen an increase.

The following are the old and new prices;
Suzuki Bolan and Ravi have been increased by Rs10,000, so have Mehran’s VX and VXR variants (price of CNG variants remains unchanged). However, the Wagon-R VXR and VXL have seen a double increase, an additional Rs 20,000 has been added to its price-tag. Mehran’s VX model is now priced at Rs689,000 and its VXR variant costs Rs742,000.
“The move was widely anticipated due to the recent rupee devaluation against the dollar,” the report added.
Analysts say the industry would finally see tough competition when companies like Hyundai, Volkswagen, Kia, and Renault would start their production from 2019.
The updated prices are yet to be displayed on the manufacturer’s website.

1. The Fiat Multipla
This car looking a design based on rubric’s cube, with headlights on each row. This car looks like a monstrosity from a 1980s film. The car has a flat top with a bucked up hood, which reminds you of the ‘Ugly Duckling’.
2. 2017 Civic Hatchback
The design feels very weird to your eyes. The headlights and taillights felt like it was far from the future, except it was the now.This model has only worked only internationally. This was pulled from the Pakistani market and the Coupe version was introduced
3. Honda Element
A design of our modern world, inspired by so-called ‘modern art’. Other than someone with severe OCD, it’s not going to be pleasing anybody. The car really looks bad design-wise, with no redeeming feature to go with.
The car looks great until you walk to the back and look at its trunk. A mustang with a pickup truck trunk, a monstrosity in its own design. Who wants to drive a cube, its efficient for big families but for someone who looks for a bit of design? This car seems to be inspired by the rubric’s cube.
5. Ford Flex
Cube again, the world may be more pleasing to see with cubes driving around but they are not aerodynamic and they do not give a great design. It’s like the designers have given up and are like squares are the way to go
6. BMW i3
Bet you didn’t expect BMW on this list, but it’s still here. The i3 looks like someone took inspiration from a frog, with its front looking more like bullfrogs bogus than a bumper. This car can only make a tiny design look bad.
7. Suzuki Mehran
The irony of bad looks come with this car. It’s a small car with a cube design. The Mehran feels like the box with wheels. With only bare minimum design and a really bad looking dashboard.

Recently, Toyota Pakistan has praised for its efforts as the company too responsibility to cancel the bookings of the models.
This was because the company was not being able to meet all demands, and many showroom owners were taking advantage by tricking people into paying more money.
The auto-giant told the rivers whose bookings got canceled that the company will refund the full amount to the individuals respectively. The manufacturer refunded over Rs 60mn for their decision taken back in November 2017.
Toyota had done an investigation and according to their audit, there were over 1,250 pending and paid listings by investors who were not on the same page as them and were ‘cheating’ on the customers.
Out of 1,288 bookings, we canceled advance bookings of 1,118 customers while 170 emerged as genuine buyers.

If there’s a car that can give Tesla’s electric cars like Model S, it’s the upcoming Porsche Mission E!
Recently, the specifications of the Mission E somehow ‘leaked’, and if these are authentic, Tesla will have a tough competition!
According to the leak, the Mission E will have 3 different outputs, similar to Tesla. The expected outputs are;

536 bhp
670 bhp
The leaks further indicate that the Italian make will come with a set of electric motors at both front and the end. Furthermore, the models are rumored output at the front is standard at 299n.m and 215bhp.
It is said to come with a 2-speed transmission system, which is not seen in electric cars and is a super rare concept as they do not need extra transmissions. The leaks suggest that the car will have the ability to reach 0-100kph under 3.5s.
There’s no word on the battery life and charge, but we have good expectations from it.

Well, just when everyone thought that 2018 is going to be a year to welcome blessings and happiness, the Government of Pakistan dropped a bombshell for many!
Unfortunately, once again, petrol prices have spiked and has revised the price of petroleum products by Rs. 4.6/liter.
Miftah Ismail, PM’s adviser on finance, announced the new rates on Sunday, 31 December 2017. The new price of petrol is now Rs. 81.53/L.
That’s not all, the price-tag for high-speed diesel has also seen a change in its price! After an increase of Rs. 3.96, its new price is now at Rs. 89.91/L. Price of light-diesel has also increased by Rs6.25, now at Rs58.37/L.
According to Geo News, Kerosene oil has increased by Rs6.79, taking it to Rs64.30/L, the highest increase recorded.
Ismail has said that the price has increased in the international market too, however, compared to other countries like India and Turkey, the prices of fuel in Pakistan is cheaper.
He said PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi approved the increase in prices on the recommendation of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
The new prices are now effective of 1st January 2018. Happy New Year!

But the defeat to Strasbourg in the league and the 3-1 defeat at Bayern Munich have questioned their qualification as a possible Champions League winner.
Real Madrid in La Liga is eight points behind Barcelona. It is unlikely that Zinedine Zidane’s team will be able to surpass the Catalan club, which makes recapturing of 2016-17 Cardiff’s trophy even more important. Since 2010, the Madrid team has not lost in this round. Their opponents that year were French side, Lyon.

Manchester United has never played against the South-Spanish side. These are the last two teams to win the Europa League, and although United are natural favorites and should go through, they may not know what to expect from Sevilla.

Assistant coach Ernesto Marcucci has been put in charge of the first team in Berizzo’s absence. Sevilla is in a position to shock United, but they probably will not.

Probably the tightest tie in the round, it feels like one of those games that might turn out to be classic and one that people watching on TV will talk about for years. Shakhtar secured one of the more impressive performances in the first round and qualified ahead of Napoli, followed by some as a no-hoper to go deep into the tournament, while the Roma’s two games against Chelsea also showed their potential. One has the feeling that Roma did not quite click this season, but after a closer look, they should have just enough to get through.

KFC Proves That Charity Begins At Home!
KFC is one of the biggest brands in Pakistan that has always been on the forefront to serve worthy citizens with its ground-breaking initiatives. It continues to add value to the lives of the underprivileged, going an extra mile and bringing a smile to people’s faces.
The brand’s CSR platform ‘Mitao Bhook’ has launched several initiatives in the past to help the deserving ones.
Earlier in May this year on labor day, KFC paid a tribute to our unsung heroes – the traffic policemen and Sindh Police who relentlessly work day and night for the safety & security of Karachi.
In August, the brand collaborated with Zindagi Trust to promote education in the country. It promised to donate RS.50 to Zindagi Trust on every Chicken bucket sold.
This month, to celebrate the International Day of People with Disabilities, the brand arranged a children’s benefit concert in collaboration with Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF).
Over 4,000 children became a part of the celebrations with special guest Shazia Khushk.
KFC has always made it a priority to help those in need of education and training. Those who are hearing impaired are also employed in different branches so that they can earn and feed their families.
On the special occasion, KFC Mitao Bhook dedicated its iconic chicken bucket and Rs. 50 from the sale of the bucket towards the education and training of special needs children.
