Telecom Companies to Share Personal User Data with FBR

Pakistani telecommunication companies will now share user-related data with the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR).

Previously, the telecom companies only shared required data when Pakistan Telecommunication Authority was involved in special cases which required sensitive information.

However, an FBR representative has said that the companies were reluctant in sharing the information. This is why the bureau developed a software which would automatically sync data of all users biweekly.

“A specialized software has been developed for this purpose that will help collect biweekly data of telecom customers”

FBR has expressed its concerns previously in the last months in retaining information from telecom companies. The software will help in several investigations, making it easier and will consume less than half of the time it already does.

The committee also discussed the idea of a tax exemption for mobile phone users with only Rs. 500 or less balance on their account.

Senator Shahi Syed, Committee  Chairman also recommended that withholding tax should not be deducted from the telecom cards worth Rs. 100 as they are mostly used by people who belong to the low-income group.

Imran Abbas Roots for Tiger Zinda Hai’s Release in Pakistan

Two spies and one common enemy! This is the recipe director Ali Abbas Zafar has used for Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s upcoming movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. The movie just rolled out its trailer yesterday and as anticipated, the flick has created a massive social media brouhaha.

The fans of Dabangg Khan loved the promo and are praising their hero for his buffed up look, menacing performance, and action-packed avatar.

Of course, they can not wait for their Khan’s return to a role that led to the beginning of the highest-grossing franchises in Bollywood.

Said to be inspired by true events, the trailer unveils Katrina Kaif as a martial arts expert and an enticing Pakistani spy who unites with Khan’s to rescue 25 Indian nurses from clutches of the terrorist,  Abu Usman.

All those who remember its prequel, Ek Tha Tiger will remember that the film was banned in Pakistan.

While the move was a huge money spinner at the Indian Box Office, Salman’s Pakistani fans resumed watching the movie via the internet. Now, it is being predicted that Tiger Zinda Hai will too not make it to the nation’s cinemas.

However, the chocolate boy Imran Abbass is the first one to root for Tiger Zinda Hai’s release in Pakistan.

The hero did not shy away from taking to Twitter and lauded the movie.

And he has already declared his vote for its release in the nation’s cinemas!

Surely, Salman has got a fan in Imran. He was last seen in Bollywood movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, starring Fawad Khana and Ranbir Kapoor that was released in 2016.
A debate cum movement will certainly kickstart in Pakistan that will be deciding the fate of Tiger Zinda Hai.

For those who have missed its trailer, can watch it here!

Petition Filed in Lahore High Court to Re-Declare Iqbal Day Holiday!

The important debate that has been happening since last two years resurfaces! The whole of Pakistan is eager to know if they will be getting a holiday for Iqbal Day November 9th, 2017.

November 9, Iqbal Day, has long been declared as a public holiday in Pakistan. With the birthday of the national poet just around the corner, debates are bound to continue on why a holiday is not being declared. The holiday was abolished in 2015 by the Interior Ministry.

In order to re-declare Iqbal Day as a public holiday, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court.

The petition states that Iqbal Day should be announced as a day off to commemorate the late poet’s birthday.

The respondents on this matter are the federal and provincial governments. However, it should be noted that a similar petition was filed earlier and is still pending before the LHC. The application was to meant to be heard before in court so as to declare this year’s Iqbal Day a public holiday before the debates began.

Last night, news channels have reported that there will be NO public holiday on account of Iqbal Day. We have yet to see what the Lahore High Court declares.

Mobiles worth Rs. 1 Billion Seized in Karachi!

If you thought the recent seizing of the Qmobile and Amazon products was big, wait till you hear about this!

Phones worth about Rs. 1 bn were found after two raids from customs and Anti-Smuggling Organization were conducted.

One of the raids took place in Baloch Colony, Shara e Faisal, in a 3-story building and the second took place in a warehouse in Saddar. From the first raid, around  70-80,000 mobile phones were taken into the custody. Whereas 25-30,000 were collected from Saddar.

In the duration of just 3 days, this is the 2nd biggest anti-smuggle raid CP ASO has conducted.

Rules for buying second-hand products have also become very strict. Both ends, buyers and sellers, have to go through a proper process in order to ensure no issues will take place for them in the future if raids are conducted in shops and in the market.

iPhone X has a 6-Figure Price in Pakistan!

iPhone X is out in international markets and it has created several queues, people waiting for hours and hours just to buy the new Apple flagship!

While the phone has reached several stores, it has also reached eCommerce platforms in Pakistan.

However, the price it is available at is alarming! While the official price of the iPhone X is $999 (64GB), and $1,149 (256GB), websites like iShopping are selling the 64GB variant for Rs190,000.

Is an iPhone worth 2lacs? On the other hand, HomeShopping is offering the 256 GB version for Rs. 186,000 and the 64 GB version at Rs. 157,000.

Whereas, Shophive has gone even is offering 256GB iPhone X for Rs. 200,000 and 64 GB for Rs. 175,000. These are just some of the many websites who are offering the phone in this range.

Is the price of the iPhone X actually worth the tag? Are eCommerce platforms charging too much because individuals are more dependant on them with every passing day?

This is a concern which should be looked at as easy money for them is not easy money for everyone.

‘Paimanay’ Drama on Urdu1: Plot, Promo & Timings

Urdu1 has a history of bringing the best and the most relatable real-life-based drama series for its audience. The channel has given us unforgettable serials like Mujhey Jeenay Dou, Titli, Tum Kon Piya and much more that left us hooked to our screens with their tales.

Now, Urdu1 is all set to unveil its new drama, “Paimanay” and its teasers have already created a lot of hype.

From an uber-talented cast to a heart-wrenching OST, Paimanay boasts the potential to be one of the most watched serials of this season.

STORY

Directed by Danish Nawaz and written by Rukhsana Nigar, the star-studded cast of Paimanay includes Fatima Effendi, Eshal Fayyaz, Asad Siddiqui and Danish Nawaz, Asad Siddique, Imran Ashraf and, Farhan Ali Agha among others.

The story revolves around a young girl, Seerat, who chooses to trust her best friend’s advice rather than her family and ends up paying a huge price for it. Seerat (Eshal Fayyaz) falls in love with an auto driver (Asad Siddiqui) and marries him against the will of her family.

Fatima Effendi is playing the role of the evil best friend Aiza in the tale and, from the looks of the promo, will create a chaos in Seerat’s life. Farhan Ali Agha will be seen as the heroine’s brother and will throw her out of the house when she marries her love interest.

Imran Ashraf will be once more mesmerizing the audience in the character of Jazib. We are predicting that Aiza has his eyes on him and will be conniving against Seerat’s marriage to him.

The drama seems quite twisted and mysterious, something we are definitely looking forward to.

Oil Brands Hit Back at Honda Pakistan for False Accusations!

Just a couple of days ago, Honda Pakistan accused fuel brands. It claiming that their fuel was not up to standard and was not meeting standard quality due to which it caused problems in their engines, causing fires.

However, the brands have responded to this claiming that Honda’s claims are false and baseless and it is not their fuel which is causing the problems, but the brand’s own quality is not up to mark and is risking lives of thousands every day.

According to a report, PSO and other gas regulators said that they would investigate the complaints filed by the few automotive company claiming that local oil subsidiaries have added manganese in their gasoline to make it look like a high-quality fuel.

Earlier, when Honda came forth with this claim, they had provided test results done on samples collected from the oil distributors.

As result, reports stated that there was up to 53 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of magnesium in the samples, while the additive is considered to be a “danger level” above 24 mg/kg.

However, the PSO spokesperson said that the company’s “products fully adhere to official terms laid out by the Ministry of Energy.”

Even Shell came out and gave their two-cents on the matter, a spokesperson said;

“Shell retail fuels comply with the MPNR Rules of April 2016 for local fuel specifications in Pakistan that do not specify any limit of manganese. All fuel imports are cleared by Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), the government designated laboratory that is responsible for ensuring fuel import quality. Shell has also been advocating for stricter specifications for fuels, and we welcome any discussion on the matter with relevant authorities and OEMs.”

This is a eveloping story, we will update our readers as the sotory develops and unfolds further.

WhatsApp Bug Allows You to Delete Messages Even After 7 Minutes

Loving the new WhatsApp total recall feature which allow you to delete messages you have ‘accidentally’ sent to the wrong person? Well, you will love this bug too!

Apparently, a WhatsApp bug allows you to delete messages even after the 7-minute window!

First spotted by Androidjefe.com and reported by XDA Developers, non-beta WhatsApp Android users on v2.17.395 can use the bug to delete messages after 7 minutes of sending them.

In order to do so, they will need to send the message and keep the chat window opened. Keeping it open for over 7 minutes will still show users the option to delete the message for everyone.

“The delete window is interfering here, as whenever WhatsApp detects the window is open, the internal timer fails to finish and a message can be deleted whenever a user wishes to delete it,” explains the website.

However, it can be expected that WhatsApp will address and fix this bug in their next update which might be rolling out in a couple of days.

Pakistan vs West Indies Series Postponed!

Looks like we will have to wait a little longer to see Pakistan and West Indies in action.

Unfortunately, due to the increasing concerns related to the smog which has covered Lahore, the series will no longer take place until next year.

However, this leaves us with many questions including, if Lahore is not suitable due to smog concerns what about Multan or Karachi?

Given that the attacked which was carried out on Sri Lanka almost a decade ago, the same attack which barred international cricket in Pakistan also took place in Lahore, so why aren’t PCB officials considering any other venues for the series?

PCB official stated that due to the commitment of West Indies’ players to participate in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and smog, the tour has been postponed.

“The PCB and the West Indies Cricket Board had agreed that West Indies will tour Pakistan in November, but now it is unlikely to happen because of the smog and some other reasons,” the official said.

Pakistan to Face 8-10 Hours of Load Shedding Per Day

Loadshedding

Electricity and power crisis are one of the most crucial issues in Pakistan. With the high demand of 16000 MW and the low supply for 9000 MW, the excessive demand of 7000 MW can be seen in the national grid.

As per the directive policies of the Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqaan Abbasi, power plants running on expensive furnace oil were closed down.

this created a greater gap of up to 4250 MW in the power demand and supply. The projects that were shut down included:

  • 950 MW from Hubco
  • 1000 MW from Muzaffargarh
  • 400 MW from Jamshoro
  • 700 MW from KAPCO.

Moreover, the diesel/furnace oil-fired plants that were shut down also include Nishat power, Nishar Chunian Power, Liberty, Hubco Norwal, Atlas and Kel, whose capacity accumulated to 1200 MW

The hydel power plants are also being unproductive as the reservoirs of Pakistan are releasing less water, which is creating a shortage of 4300 MW.

This will cause the country to face 8 – 10 hours of load shedding per day

An official statement issued by the Power Division also declared that SNGPL has also curtained 200 mmcfd gas supplies due to maintenance work between 3rd November – 7th November, which resulted in a reduction of 500 MW in the system.

The Power Division of Pakistan has directed the NPCC to chalk out an emergency load management plan for 72 hours till the restoration of 1200 MW nuclear power plants. However, the Power Division hopes that the situation shall improve as the demand is declining with a decrease in the temperature.

Adding to this situation, the smog in Punjab caused some plants to trip, increasing the gap to 7000 MW.

The National Transmission and Distribution system today averted the supply of electricity by tripping 11 main 500KV and 220 KV NTDC’s circuits/Grid stations. This tripping was caused by severe dense smog in the Punjab regions.

The smog also led to the closure of all Chashma Nuclear Power Plants.

However, the work is now being restored after necessary technical and security protocol. It is expected to get back to its full capacity in 72 hours.

These circuits/grid Stations include:

  • 500kv Multan – DG khan. khan,
  • 500kV Guddo747 circuit tripped along with Multan Bus Bar-1,
  • 500kv Multan-Yousafwala circuit,
  • 220KV Muzafargarh ph1 -Bhawalpur cct 1 trip @0442hrs,
  • 220kv Multan-Vehari circuits -I & II,
  • 220kv Vehari- Kassowal circuits -I & II,
  • 220kv Kassowal- Yousafwala circuits -I & II,
  • 220kv Multan-Muzafargarh circuit -4,
  • 220kv Multan-Kapco circuit-4 500kv Multan- ,
  • 220kv Vehari ,kasowal & chishtian Grids
  • 220kv Yousfwala- Okara circuit.

The power Division of Pakistan has apologized for the inconvenience caused and has asked for full cooperation from the people of Pakistan.
