Astola Island-Discover the Hidden Treasure of Balochistan

Did you know that Balochistan has an island? No kidding! Astola Island is situated in Balochistan, a province in Pakistan.

It is otherwise called ‘Jezira Haft Talar’ or ‘Island of the Seven Hills’ due to the little rough mountains that extend over the 15 sq km across the island.

It is an uninhabited and stretches out into the Arabian Sea. The Island is a part of Pasni sub-area of Gwadar.

Astola’s sandy shorelines are settling ground for green turtles and around 25 types of coral have been found in the sea around it.

The Arabian Sea humpback whale, one of the rarest marine warm blooded creatures, has sporadically been located in its encompassing territory.

The motivation behind why the island’s impeccable excellence has stayed untarnished is a direct result of its remote area. From Karachi, it is a 7-hour drive to Pasni, from where you need to take another 3-hour hour route via watercraft ride to Astola.

The shade of the water and example of the shoreline changes for the duration of the day relying on the tide.

The best way to explore this strange yet-beguiling spot is by a boat. The place is home to outlandish marine coexistence with sea turtles, sea urchins, ocean shells, ocean gulls, ocean snakes, feline fish, eels and numerous varieties of sea life.

Astola Island is a mesmerising destination not many are aware of. The amazing concept of nature is a night no one will be ever able to forget. From hills to gulls and remarkable sea creatures, Astola has it all!

When are you going on your next trip?

Mercedes Benz X Class Pickup: Specs, Features & More

Known for producing some of the most beautiful rides to have been driven on the roads, Mercedes Benz has now introduced the world to their 1st pickup truck, X Class.

The manufacturer first revealed a few details about their plan to launch the pickup last year in October.

At first glance, the Mercedes Benz X Concept looks like a pickup truck, but one that you have not seen before, carrying unique characteristics.

Engine

Drivers will be able to choose from 2 engine-types, common rail diesel X 220 d (120 kW/163 hp) and X 250 d (140 kW/190 hp) as well as a petrol engine (122 kW/165 hp) in selected markets. On the other hand, a source says that the company will also introduce a V6-Engine variant producing 250hp by next year.

Design

The Mercedes Benz X Class will launch in 2 variants, the X-class Powerful Explorer and the X-Class Stylish Explorer. The Powerful Explorer is expected to be the rugged and tough variant while the Stylish Explorer will be a more refined and luxury vehicle.

“With the Mercedes-Benz pick-up, we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio.” -Chariman Dr Dieter Zetsche

Mercedes will be offering their drivers something unique by placing the X-Class firmly in the luxury car bracket, which could be its unique selling point. We have not seen many companies make such a bold move, the X Class will be a direct competitor to Nissan Navara and the Mitsubishi L200.

On the other hand, the company has confirmed that the X-Class will be true to Mercedes brand and offer premium comfort and driving dynamics for both variants.

“Our target: we want to offer customers vehicles matching their specific needs. The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment.”

The five-seater pickup will come with full LED headlamps and sits on mammoth 22-inch alloy wheels. Its front-end styling is reminiscent of their GLA SUV range but is more muscular and has a more dominant stance.

The Mercedes Benz X Class Concept will have the following features:

  • Driver assist systems including brake assist, lane keeping asset and traffic line assist
  • Infotainment systems
  • Latest navigation, connectivity and entertainment services

Careem’s ‘Rishta Aunty Ride’ Campaign Starts a Brand War!

Careem Pakistan has recently opted for a unique style of marketing. Their ‘Rishta Aunty Ride’ became the talk of the town yesterday! Some were confused while some were curious as to what this was all about.

Careem rolled out its Rishta Aunty Ride a.k.a the ‘Halaal’ Way to Find the Right Person!

The marketing stunt worked for the ride-hailing service and created a buzz over social media. However, as brands work in this competitive era, the competitors pounced on this opportunity and thus began a brand war which seems to have just begun!

1.Uber

It started with Careem’s direct competition Uber’s response, here’s what they posted!

2. Joy Cab

Joy Cab Taxi’s hilarious comeback will make you LOL!

They also took a dig at Careem’s peak factor charges

– JOYCAB IS BETTER THAN _ EVER 😀 Inst it irritating when you have to pay more than actual amount ? We never liked it…

Careem Takes a Dig at Uber & Its Savage!

The ride-hailing service industry is fairly new in the Pakistani market and the competition between the two main brands, Careem and Uber is getting tougher by each passing day. In order to stay connected to the audience, the companies are pretty active on social media.

Just last night somebody asked Twitterattis how he could book an uber ride and guess who helped him out? Careem Pakistan. Yep, you heard that right.

Careem Pakistan’s reply was:

Go on Settings> Application Manager> Delete

Looks like Careem is highly influenced by international fast food chain Wendy’s style of Social media management. They are the ones who are known for savage replies to their audience and using such tactics for online engagement.

Careem seems to be on a roll, after the savage replies on Twitter, the company has now started a new quirky campaign. You wouldn’t believe it but it has to do with ‘Rishta Aunties’.

With people waking up to Careem’s

“Your Rishta has arrived”

However, what people are wondering is, what is the strategy behind this approach? Whatever they’re doing, it is creating publicity for the brand and all people have been doing is talking about Careem’s Rishta Aunty today! As the saying goes any kind of publicity is good for the business as long as it gets your brand noticed.

Baaghi’s Trailer is Out and Pakistani’s are Loving It!

The long awaited trailer for Qandeel Baloch’s biopic ‘Baaghi’ starring none other than Saba Qamar is out and it gave us goosebumps, to say the least! The 2-minute long video shed light on the real Qandeel that nobody knew about.

saba qamar qandeel balcoh

The story begins from Qandeel’s humble beginnings in the village and how she marries her husband played by Ali Kazmi.

You will also see an older sister asking her younger brother to focus on his studies and shudder in shock when her older brother (Sarmad Khoosat) slaps her right across the face for falling in love.

The real reason why she moved to the ‘city’ was revealed and we see how she progresses from a village girl to the social media sensation that we all came to know. Baloch’s struggle to earning the fame she yearned for and the path she took makes for a riveting performance which Qamar has delivered.

Baloch earned herself various titles in the short time she rose to fame through social media, she was called, ‘Pakistan’s Kim Kardashian’, ‘rebel’ and ‘a shame to Pakistan’.

Osman Khalid Butt also stars in Baaghi.

In the words of the social media superstar herself,

“If I die there won’t be anyone like myself, not even in the next 100 years!”

Although nobody could replace the late social media queen, Saba Qamar has portrayed her so well. We don’t think anyone else could have done justice to this part except her.

Baaghi has created a buzz on social media and after the trailer released, Twitterati were all praises for the biopic and Saba Qamar.

Watch Baaghi’s trailer ft. Saba Qamar here!

Kudos to Saba for taking up this controversial project. Baaghi airs on the 27th July on Urdu1 every Thursday at 8 pm.

“Bik Gayi Hai Gormint” Aunty Becomes Victim of Social Boycott!

In an era where you are not best-friends with someone until and unless you constantly tag each-other in annoying memes; “Bik Gayi Hai Gormint” Aunty has become an international sensation.

Aunty became an overnight hit when her interview with a local news channel went viral as she called the government “Bikao” and used an aggressive selection of words to express her thoughts.

*Video contains vulgar language

Despite being one of the most popular memes of 2017, Gormint Aunty has become a victim of a social boycott.

“She uttered whatever came in her mind when the TV vaalay came in our area that day because she was extremely angry and her blood pressure was also high.” -Aunty Gormint’s Son

In an interview with Samaa, her son shared how his mother is popular in the neighbourhood for being short-tempered, causing Aunty and her family to face a lack of social acceptance in the community.

“She hurls abuses whenever her blood pressure is high and she doesn’t even realize what she is saying.”

He went on to add that it has become very difficult to find suitable matches for his sisters because of his mother’s unsought popularity.

“We have had many altercations with our relatives and neighbours over the issue. As a result, no one comes to our house anymore.”

He mentioned that every time his mother goes out, people make fun of her and crack jokes, which has made her more irritable. It’s just not her who is a victim, the entire family is going through the mockery.

“Everyone makes fun of my mother. We have stopped attending family events because people, instead of enjoying the family functions, shift their focus on my mother.”

According to her son, the TV channel and reporter should have deleted the clipping instead of publishing it as he added, “mothers are the same for everyone.”

Aunty as Che Guevara

Someone photoshopped Aunty as Che Guevara and her fame reached all new heights! The meme became so popular that the youth started to make her into a franchise, with her picture on their Facebook cover, mobile cover, and even laptop cover!

Irrfan Khan as Aunty Gormint

Aunty did not receive popularity in Pakistan only, she made it across the border to India as well. The talented B-Town actor, Irrfan impersonated her making, once again making her the talk of the town!

Aunty Gormint Music Tracks

A fan even made a version of “Cheap Thrills” and “Despacito” and people just cannot get over it!

Even though we all love her for what she had to say, the question arises that is it really necessary to impose a social boycott on someone just because they have a temper? Or, because they are straightforward about their thoughts?

We want to know what is your view on the Aunty Gormint Social Boycott!

Honda Atlas Tricks Customers by Claiming Recall as Upgrade!

In 2013, reports of faulty airbags started to surface, and the numbers continued to grow throughout the year.

Takata, the company that manufactured Airbags recalled around 3.6 million units, gradually crossing over 50mn units. making it the biggest recall in the history of automotive.

This made the incident the biggest recall in the history of automotive. Thus, pushed Takata to claim bankruptcy in June 2017.

According to the authorities, the fault occurred due to  “the mishandling of explosive propellants and improperly stored chemicals” resulting in faulty airbags.

Honda Atlas’s Involvement

According to sources, around seventeen fatalities and 180 injuries have been tied to the defective Takata airbags since 2009. Honda Atlas also became a target of public anger as the Honda Civic ended up to be a disappointment in terms of safety.

Even though the faulty Civic caused criticism, it also did well in the markets during 2016, making it a year of survival for the company. In order to prevent backlash, Honda Atlas disguised an airbag recall as an upgrade which received massive backfired!

Posters soon surfaced claiming ‘Free Upgrade’ using images of the 2006 Honda Civic, 2008 CR-V, and 2004 Accord. Upon further examining the poster, with clever positioning of text, the company stated that this is actually a recall, however, the size was almost next to impossible to read.

The statement read; “In the models mentioned, SRS inflator pump may have a possibility of malfunction as a precautionary measure, you are requested to immediately visit our authorised 3S & 2S dealerships for inspection & replacement of the ‘upgraded’ part ‘free of cost.”

This sparked an outrage across social media. Even though this is not the first or last recall, Toyota recently recalled its models due to possible brake issues, they were straightforward and did not try to cover-up for their mistake.

What is your take on the campaign?

LHC Lifts Ban on Indian Dramas and Pakistanis are Unhappy!

After years of watching Parvati’ and ‘Tulsi’ marrying the same person repeatedly after every few years, the ordeal came to an end when the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority put a ban on the broadcasting of all Indian drama in Pakistan after the Uri attacks on Oct 19, 2016.

However, The Lahore High Court (LHC) has now lifted this ban declaring it null and void as the Federal government had no objections to the Indian content being shown in the country.

A petition to overturn PEMRA’s decision was held by M/s Leo Communications which is the parent company for Filmazia. They claimed that the government was indulging in “selective patriotism” due to Bollywood films allowed in cinemas but not on television.

According to Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah,

“The world has become a global village!”

Shah also added that any objectionable content will be censored but there is no need for a complete ban.

Pakistanis reacted to this news and needless to say, people were not happy to hear this!

Some had a valid point. Pakistani dramas are not aired in India so why did the LHC lift the ban is what people want to know.

Read the complete details of the ban lifted by the LHC!

Looks like, we’ll all be back to watching age old tales of ‘saas-bahu’ conflicts on our television screens now.

This Teenage Pakistani Artist is Making a Name Beyond Borders

Meet Shehzar Abro, an artist with an incredible talent that has found its fame in not only Pakistan but beyond borders, Australia to be more precise.  In a recent edition of the Newcastle regional newspaper The Herald, this teenager bagged the front page featuring an exceptional 8 feet mural painted by him.

The mural pays tribute to a long-running urban renewal project and adorns the face of a heritage building in Newcastle’s Central Business District.

“It’s been an eventful few months and I didn’t really expect the mural to get as much coverage as it did, leave alone come on to the front page on the regional news.” Shehzar told Brandsynario

Unlike many other teenagers, Shehzar set out on his artistic journey at a very young age, after having identified a vision of his destiny.  Originally from Karachi, he willfully left A levels to achieve his goals by following a not-so- mainstream path.

Dropping out of A levels has taught me one thing and that is, life does not go as planned. I dropped out with the intention of studying Animation in America, but that didn’t happen and I’m in Australia now. But after I had dropped out things have been uphill for me,” he said.

Thank you for coming! And thank you for the positive vibes from those who couldn't. @rawnewcastle @central145

A post shared by Shehzar Abro (@shehzarsart) on

The young artist revealed how he started gaining popularity on the social media two years ago after he took up blogging as a hobby.

The artworks that he displayed on a public Instagram page, garnered over 65 thousand followers worldwide in less than a year

That is when Shehzar started pursuing professional blogging.

“With new artists getting discovered every year, you really need to understand that opportunities won’t just come your way so you need to avail them yourself. That means you need to let people know you’re out there by promoting yourself. I’ve seen that people find self-promotion as something negative, which it shouldn’t be because nobody wants success and recognition for your work as much as you do,” the artist said.

It is through Shehzar’s profound passion for art and unwavering dedication that he now boasts a long list of accomplishments, including one of him being the youngest artist to curate his own show at Movenpick in 2016.

Being a supporter of talent, he inaugurated an art gallery displaying work of young artists his age. “Everyone wants to accommodate the artists that sell. The real challenge is selling the artists that don’t,” Shehzar explained while talking about his exhibition.

Having proved himself as an inspiration for all teenagers to look up to Shehzar does not plan on stopping.

His journey has just begun, and he optimistically spoke of his future prospects following the massive success of his mural.

“I’m going to be painting as much as I have before and see what opportunities life throws at me. This recent mural was something that was huge for me and did result in a lot of inquiries so I might be doing a couple of murals up in Sydney. So I’m pretty excited for upcoming projects and I will keep you updated via Facebook and Instagram,” the artist said.

Ajay Devgan Finally Admits Pakistani Talent is the Best!

The tensions between India and Pakistan after the Uri attacks was bubbling last year during the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The controversy surrounding the ban on Pakistani artists resulted in our actors returning back to their homeland.

Ajay Devgan’s ‘Shivaay’ was clashing with Fawad Khan starrer, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and the Shivaay star supported the ban on Pakistani artists. He also went on to say he would not be working with any of the Lollywood stars due to the ban imposed on them by a political party.

However, it seems like Devgan has gone back on his words. His upcoming movie Baadshaho has the song, ‘Mere Rashke Qamar’ which was originally sung by the maestro, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The reprise has now been vocalized by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

It is surprising to see the actor using Pakistani talent for his film when he was hell bent on having Karan Johar replace Fawad Khan in the movie released last year even after the shooting was complete.

Looks like Ajay has finally accepted our actors and singers for the immense talent that they have. Mere Rashke Qamar could not have been sung by anyone in India and it had to be done by the one and only, Rahat Fateh.

It makes one wonder as to what was the real reason for him protesting against Fawad Khan in KJo’s film. Was it just because the movie was bound to do better than his own venture Shivaay? It definitely seems so now.

Apparently, all has been forgotten because his own film needed Pakistani talent.

Mr. Mirza’s addictive charisma, larger-than-life personality, and a ferocity that was at once daunting yet affable were the trademarks of an adman who lived life with fearless authenticity.

Qualities that can be seen in the work of his agency that continues to make headway after pioneering a new brand of creativity at a time when Pakistan’s advertising industry was flushed with mediocrity and formulae. Mr. Mirza’s relentless energy and intense devotion to hard work, out of the box creativity that delivers, and intelligent, thoughtful design for all brands and markets alike generated strong loyalty among clients and colleagues alike — for whom he became a trusted confidante, natural motivator, and a demi-god of inspiration.

The whole of Pakistan was waiting for the first ever superhero movie, Project Ghazi! With a trio of top actors, promotions in full swing, and all the hype weaved around the massive flick, it was expected to create a splash at the box-office!

But who would have known that Project Ghazi’s release will get postponed just a day before its release!

It is with a heavy heart that we are making the announcement that Project Ghazi's release date has been postponed. We…

Posted by Project Ghazi on Thursday, July 13, 2017

Surprising right? We wonder if that has ever happened before in history!

Last evening, Project Ghazi’s premiere became a night of horror for all as huge technical difficulties were discovered in the film during the screening, making it an unbearable watch.

Of course, Humayun Saeed, Shehryar Munawar, and Syra Shahroz now are bound to be crestfallen over the chaos that has happened!

But who knew, Syra’s own husband will take advantage of the sad situation to promote his own upcoming movie Chain Aye Na.

Taking to Instagram, Subzwari trolled his wife about the Project Ghazi’s big disaster, but ended up making it really cheesy!

Don't worry GHAZI, Soon Chain Aye Ga 🙂 Love you 😘

Don’t worry GHAZI, Soon Chain Aye Ga 🙂 Love you

Oh well, it is apparent that Shahroz is trying hard to create positive publicity for his debut film. However, with its trailer unable to impress the critics and being an epic fail, we doubt if Chain Aye Na will be able to convince cinema-goers to watch it.

So now social media is having a field day, stating that both Project Ghazi and Chain Aye Na are competing with each other in a contest of “Battle of the Flops”

However, jokes apart, we hope both the movies end up working wonders on the box-office. Especially, Project Ghazi! It will be great if Pakistan’s first ever super movie is the one we will always be proud of.

7 Most Popular Cars in Pakistan 2016-17 [View List]

The car craze is on the rise in Pakistan. We have seen a rapid growth in the total sales and the total units sold in 2016-17.

In this article we will rank the popularity of the latest cars and why they were able to maintain a significant hold in the market.

1. Suzuki Wagon-R

The car has experienced an increase in sales in 2016-17 since the time of its launch. The Suzuki Wagon R comes in 1000CC, 1200CC and 1300CC.

It gives a mileage of 16km/litre and a pleasant drive. Though it’s been a while since the launch of this beauty, it is still on a control of 70K access to its official price.

2. Suzuki Swift

Suzuki Swift

Suzuki Swift has experienced an increase in sales and the total quantity sold. It sold more units than Mehran and Cultus but less than Corolla and City.

It is a spacious 1300CC car with a fine shape. Swift is the biggest competitor of Toyota Vitz (Yaris) and has taken over its market in Pakistan.

3. Honda Civic & City

Honda Civic since its launch has created a huge hype due to its new features, the 1.5 Turbo and the 1.8 version were welcomed warmly.

Though these cars were only for the elite class and were heavily priced at Rs 32 lacs the overall sales increased by almost 50% which is no surprise because of the brand reputation that Civic has in Pakistan.

Honda City was sold less compared to civic but there was an increase in the units sold compared to the previous year models.

4. Suzuki Mehran

Suzuki Mehran is the 2nd most popular car in Pakistan. Though its sales were more than Civic and City combined they grew only by 2% from the previous years.

Mehran is Suzuki’s most well-selling car in Pakistan and is trusted for its durability. Mehran has a huge resale market and this is one of the prime reasons for its success.

5. Suzuki Cultus

Suzuki Cultus comes in the list after Civic’s popularity in Pakistan and it sold around 15000 units in Pakistan. Its sales only grew by 1.62% compared to previous years.

The new Suzuki Cultus model has also created a huge hype since the time of its launch however they are less seen on the roads as yet.

6. Toyota Corolla

The newly shaped Corolla was not very charming when it comes to the Pakistani market. It was the only car that experienced a negative sales growth which was a huge shock.

The sales fell by 7% approximately which leaves a question mark on Toyota. To cover that up Toyota has re-launched Corolla with added features and labelled it as Corolla 2017 with a 70K increment in the price.

The Winner!

Wagon-R is the most popular car because of its great fuel average and affordable price. It has a good pick-up and perfect suspension installed.

Which is your favourite?

Rat Discovered in One of Karachi’s Leading Bakery!

A cringe-worthy video of a rat discovered in one of Karachi’s famous bakery is making rounds on social media. And of course, it is a stomach-churning sight!

The viral clip has sparked an outrage on the internet as the eatery is now under fire. Shockingly, it is none other than the well-known United King Bakery where the incident occurred.

A customer at the Clifton branch spotted the rodent roaming around on one of the food shelves. The rat was caught on camera, sitting on tray freshly-baked goods.

Warning: This video is advisable for the faint-hearted!

Mouse spotted😳😳 at "United King" Clifton branch….Kia khilana chah rahay hein yeah humay😱😱

Posted by Karachi Walay on Thursday, July 13, 2017

The video has been watched over a million times since it was uploaded to social media and people appear absolutely disgusted.

Following the backlash, United King apparently has apologized for the whole fiasco and has issued a statement regarding the whole episode.

I am the Marketing Manager at United King. Our Team has discarded all the products, the area is being fumigated and is currently quarantined – Marketing Manager Omer Naveed Qureyshi.

Nevertheless, social media is appalled with the video and questioning why a live rat was roaming around in the first place in one of the most popular bakeries in the city.

United King should take notice that rats are extremely hazardous to health as they can cause Leptospirosis – a disease that may cause kidney damage, meningitis, liver failure, lungs to bleed and even death.

In times when food inspection is on the rise all over Pakistan, eateries should remain on alert, being extra cautious about hygiene and quality of food.
