Yalghaar To Release in 22 Countries!

After the premiere of ‘Yalghaar’ in Islamabad, the epic war film is all set to rule foreign territories. The first overseas premiere will be held in New York, USA which will be followed by a special screening in Los Angeles.

The crew’s next destination will be London, where the screening will be held at the prestigious Curzon Mayfair Theatre. The movie will be released in 22 countries, with a record-breaking number of screens for a Pakistani film so far.

The New York film premiere will be held at the historic AMC Empire Theater in Times Square. The vibrant Pakistani community, officials from the Pakistani Consulate and Pakistan’s UN Mission New York, will attend the Eid opening of ‘Yalghaar’ on 25th June.

The red carpet reception ceremony will be at Long Beach’s prestigious Golf Resort on 24th June. The star cast attending the ceremony in New York are Humayun Saeed, Armeena Rana, Ayesha Omar, Adnan Siddiqui and Sana Bucha.

The cast members of movie ‘Yalghaar’ will then be attending the red carpet ceremony and screening of the film in Los Angeles, the movie capital of the world.

The screening will take place at the Writers Guild Theatre on 27th June, and dignitaries from LA including the Consul General of Pakistan will be present along with the Hollywood press and media.

The movie premiere in London will take place at the prestigious Curzon Mayfair Theatre on 29th June. The major cast of ‘Yalghaar’, along with the movie director Dr. Hasan Rana, will be present on this occasion.

It is a historical moment for any Pakistani film being shown at the Curzon Mayfair Theatre. ‘Yalghaar’ will be released with subtitles in English, Arabic and French languages.

‘Sab Se Mushkil Shaadi’ Urdu1 Eid Telefilm: Promo, Timings & Schedule

Urdu1 is back with yet another entertaining telefilm! This Eid, the channel is rolling out another dose of masala with the quirky “Sab Se Mushkil Shaadi’.

The telefilm has been directed by Furqan T.Siddiqui, written by Syed Zain Raza and has been produced by Kanwal Wali and Huma Furqan.

But the best part of the telefilm seems to be its versatile cast! Sab Se Mushkil Shadi brings together Ushna Shah, Noor Khan and Furqan Quraishi.

It also stars Behroze Sabzwari, Amber Khan, Tabassum Arif, Kanwal Wali and Nighat Zafar.

Wondering what the story will be?

From the looks of the promo, it seems that Ushna and Noor are best friends in the telefilm. They both have the same dreams- marry, the ideal guy, plan the perfect wedding and hire the best planner in town to make it special.

However, all hell broke lose when they fix their marriage on the same date!

Qarshi and Kinetic Pakistan Celebrate the Month of Ramazan in a Truly Unique Way

The arrival of the holy month of Ramazan got Pakistanis around the country in a festive spirit. People from all walks of life have been celebrating it passionately. Decorating mosques and city centers, preparing meals to distribute amongst the needy, everyone, individuals and brands alike, is trying to do their bid to make Ramazan more special.

A noticeable effort by a brand that caught our eye was the OOH campaign by Qarshi Jam-e-Shireen. A household name Qarshi, collaborated with Kinetic Pakistan, one of the leading names in OOH Advertising, Qarshi celebrated the arrival of Ramazan in a unique way.

An entire stretch of Ali Zaib Road, also known as Qarshi road in Lahore was decorated with various lighting solutions that gave the area a unique sense of jubilation. Accompanying the lighting solutions were small billboards carrying Qarshi branding. The OOH Advertising was aimed at making the city more beautiful and clutter free.

People driving through Main Boulevard to Jinnah Flyover in Gulberg were in for a visual treat, particularly at night. The entire road was lit up with festive lights and creative branding of Qarshi Jam-e-Shireen.

 

Kinetic Pakistan, in the past too has been involved with various brands to come up with innovative ways for OOH advertising. To truly make the month of Ramazan more memorable, this time their idea was to decorate the beautiful city of Lahore and make it more festive.

5 Things You Can Do on Eid in Lahore

Eid, auspicious as it may be, it can be quite a boring event if you don’t have many relatives or friends to visit!

Even if you do, at one point it can get quite monotonous to visit people you meet on a regular basis.

So, if you have been looking for places to visit in Lahore to make your Eid more exciting, here are some things that we suggest:

1. Go Out to Eat

This Eid, go out and grab a snack with a couple of your friends or relatives. For the best that your money can buy, try out some of the talked about restaurants on M.M Alam Road, you won’t be disappointed!

Just remember that Eid is a really busy time for these restaurants so do call ahead and make reservations have been placed or else you might have to wait a while before you get a chance to eat.

2. Watch a Movie

So you have got cousins/friends over and there isn’t much to talk about, fret not you could always go watch a movie. All the cinemas are open for the most part of the day and new movies are to be released on Eid 2017.

Currently, the latest edition of Transformers on IMAX is the talk of the town. If you have been abstaining yourself from watching it out of respect for Ramazan, Eid is the perfect time to reward yourself with a trip to the cinema.

3. Amuse yourself with a Trip to an Amusement Park

Lahore has a number of amusement parks that you can go to; Oasis Golf and Aqua Resort, Joyland and Sozo Water Park.

Oasis is a members only club, so it won’t be as packed as the other two parks but all in all, if you do not mind the rush, you can have a lot of fun in any of the amusement parks.

4. Visit the Mini Golf Course

Some 6 or so years ago, this Mini Golf Course was the most cherished place for just about all the youngsters. Today, it has transformed quite a bit.

The mini golf course itself has been modified, a boating, an arcade and moto tracks have been added in addition to some new restaurants making it an excellent spot to play catch up with your friends.

5. Luxurious Malls

While the two largest Malls in Lahore; Emporium and Packages have yet to reveal if they have any plans for Eid, my guess is that it might be fun to visit there if they do.

The last time that Emporium had a festival people were packed like sardines and they still managed to enjoy themselves. So it might be nice to visit the festivals if any are held in the malls.

5 Most Sold Cars in Pakistan During The Month of May

Pakistan’s automotive sector has witnessed rapid growth and decent investment over the last few months. Car sales have surged, demand has increased, and the development has smoothly gone up the charts.

In a report conducted by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association, a list of top selling cars in Pakistan for the month of May 2017 was drafted.

Here are Pakistan’s top 5 cars of May 2017:

5. Honda City & Honda Civic

Honda City is priced from PKR 15,33,000-PKR 18,25,000 whereas the Civic has a price tag of PKR 23,49,000-PKR 24,99,000. On the other hand, the more costly Turbo variant has been discontinued temporarily, priced at PKR 29,99,000. A total of 3784 units for both City and Civic were sold in the month of May.

4. Suzuki Cultus

The Suzuki Cultus got a new makeover and fans all over have fallen head over heels for it. Now equipped with safety tech such as ABS, power steering and airbags this new model is no doubt a step forward than the previous one.

Just like Wagon R, the Suzuki Cultus comes in 2 variants:

  • Suzuki Cultus VXR (PKR 12,50,000)
  • Suzuki Cultus VXL (PKR 13,91,000)

Suzuki sold  2012 units of Cultus in the month of May this year.

3. Suzuki Wagon R

Wagon R is a very common choice for small families in Pakistan due to its spacious cabin and ample amount of leg space. It is available for sale in two variants namely

  • Wagon R VXR (PKR 10,52,000)
  • Wagon R VXL (PKR 10,94,000)

Suzuki sold 1927 units of Wagon R in the month of May this year.

2. Suzuki Mehran

Still, the ‘King of the Road’ since 1989, Mehran, which start from PKR 679,000 has had 3385 sold in the month of May, mainly due to the Orange Cab Scheme by the Government last month.

With the most sales in May 2017, Toyota Corolla is available in many variants namely

  • 1.6 ALTIS
  • 1.8 ALTIS
  • 1.8 ALTIS Grande

Ranging from PKR17,29,000-23,89,000, the company has successfully sold over 4220 units of during the month of May alone.

Pakistani Movie Chain Aye Na Trailer: Here’s Why You Should NOT Watch It!

It is not very often that we come across a 90’s cheap Lollywood film trailer in 2017. Pakistani director, Syed Noor’s ‘Chain Aye Na’ is just that and more. The movie boasts of a huge star-cast and introduces Shahroz Subzwari and Sarish Khan on the silver screen but the trailer has failed to impress!

Syed Noor calls it the ultimate revival of cinema but after watching the trailer for Chain Aye Na, we’re quite sure this is the ‘death’ of Pakistani cinema!

First things first, looks like this was designed by a child on the Paint program. Where are all the professional illustrators?

Shehroz Subzwari literally looks like the lead actress, Sarish Khan’s baby brother. We’re not sure what the director was thinking while casting them as a pair!

Height of fake-ness? Did the blood just fly out of no-where to land on the villain, Adil Murad’s face? This was a major face-palm moment!

Like every 90’s film, Chain Aye Na also has a vamp seen in some pretty cringe-worthy scenes with the badboy, Murad.

Why does the lead actress look like a vamp here?

The movie seems to be a typical one with two guys loving one girl scenario where there’s a good guy and a baddie. The trailer is poorly edited while the shots are random and the film looks like a low budget one.

We wonder why legends such as Mustafa Qureshi and Behroze Subzwari chose to work for this project in the first place. Everything in the trailer looks off, from the acting, forced dancing and the uber-cheap music.

The tagline for the movie asks viewers to ‘Believe in Miracles’, and we do strongly believe only a miracle will save this movie from becoming a catastrophe now.

Honda Car Plants Affected by Virus Across the World

Honda has been forced to shut down its Sayama car assembly and production plant near Tokyo after the WannaCry ransomware infected its computer network.

This is the same virus which infected millions of machines worldwide by infecting the well-known tech giant, Microsoft. It uses loopholes in its security system, which makes the piece of technology vulnerable.

The affected Sayama plant produces car units which are exported all around the world, including Pakistan. The plant makes famous Honda Accord, Odyssey and StepWagon minivans models.

The company had also informed that the same virus had affected other plants across Europe, Asia and North America despite efforts to secure its systems in May 2017 when WannaCry caused widespread disruptions everywhere.

Last month, Nissan and Renault were also victims of the virus. It made them force stop production units in Japan, UK, India, France and Romania. The virus seems to be infecting companies and systems using aging technology and outdated software and this appears to be the issue which caused issues all over the world.

There is no say on how long will it take for productions to kick start again.

Nauman Ansari Replaces Atif Bajwa as CEO for Bank Alfalah

Nauman Ansari, the former CEO of Faysal Bank, has now been appointed as the CEO of Bank Alfalah.

Official sources have revealed that the Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of the outgoing CEO, Mr. Atif Bajwa.

A statement issued by the company states that Atif, who previously held the office of President and CEO for over 5 years, stepped down due to personal reasons. Previously, he was the CEO for MCB and also served Soneri Bank as well.

“I would like to express my appreciation to Atif for his valuable contribution to the Bank, and I am happy to announce the appointment of Mr. Nauman Ansari as the new President & CEO of Bank Alfalah.

He will provide strong and effective leadership to meet the Bank’s strategic objectives and build the franchise further. We wish him success in his new role.

We are confident that the banking sector of Pakistan will continue to show resilience whilst making positive contributions towards Pakistan’s economy and Bank Alfalah will remain the most reliable and digitally advanced bank of choice for its customers”. – His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Chairman of the Board

The source also revealed that Nauman Ansari, Miami University Business Graduate, will succeed Atif as President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, subject to legal and regulatory approvals. He has served various banks during his 24 years of service including SCB, BoA, ABN Amro, Fortis Bank, and Samba.

Karachi to Face Water Shortage for 2 Days!

Karachiites, beware! A water shortage is about to hit the city for whole two days! Better start saving water, people.

Apparently, a pipeline measuring 72 inches in diameter, connected to the Dhabeji pumping station burst on Tuesday and will cause a water shortage for more than 48 hours.

Fluctuation in K-Electric’s Feeder

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) spokesperson have commented that a dent in the water supply was caused by the fluctuation in K-Electric’s feeder. This ultimately led to a surge in the huge pipeline.

The 72-inch pipeline provides 55MGD water to Karachi and is considered one of its 10 main pipelines connected to Dhabeji pumping station.

“Around 150 million gallons of water (MGD) will be lost because of the bursting of the water pipeline,” said Abdul Rehman Shaikh, the superintendent engineer of bulk water supply.

After bursting of the pipeline, the water being supplied to Karachi is the only 450MGD, Meanwhile, the demand is as high as 1,100MGD in the metropolis.

Almost 36 hours will be required to repair the pipeline.

Anil Kumble Steps Down as India’s Head Coach, Blames Virat Kohli!

It has only been 3 days since Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, and things in India are not looking good.

The situation was so terrible that MS Dhoni had to increase security at his residence because of the violent protesting crowd.

That’s not all that happened, Anil Kumble, Head Coach of India resigned from his position after blaming his men in blue for the loss, especially skipper Virat Kohli.

Kumble, who had stayed in the UK after the final as the team left for a limited-overs tour of the Caribbean, wrote:

“I was informed for the first time yesterday by the BCCI that the captain had reservations with my ‘style’ and about my continuing as the head coach. I was surprised since I have always respected the role boundaries between captain and coach.

Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I therefore believe it is best for me to move on.”- ANil Kumble

Communication between Kumble and captain Kohli had already broken down weeks before, and the two maintained a discreet distance during their month-long stay here in England for the Champions Trophy.

The cricket advisory committee (CAC) – consisting of three legends in Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman – which is tasked with choosing the next coach, will discuss the next course of action via a conference call (Laxman is back in India while Tendulkar and Ganguly are still in London).

Shoaib Akhtar’s Message to India Proves He is a True Sportsman [Watch Video]

Ex-Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar showed utter class in a recent interview with an Indian channel after Pakistan won the Champions Trophy final against the ‘Team in Blue’.

The ‘Rawalpindi Express’ talked sensibly unlike senior personalities from India such as Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal who spiked hatred amongst the youth through social media.

Shoaib Akhtar started by Congratulating the Indian team for reaching the finals instead of bashing them.

“As a Pakistani, I would like to tell you to give your team a pat on the back instead of criticizing them”

He also added,

“Yes there was a mistake when they let Pakistan bat first, but i truly feel that too many ‘big things’ were said before the match, which Allah did not like.”

The ex-cricketer seems to be hinting towards the overconfidence portrayed by India supporters before the final. Renown personalities had made fun of the Pakistani cricket team, discrediting them before watching what they were actually capable of.

He finally added that Pakistan would have been put to pressure if India had decided to bat first.
