#HaarKoHarao Will Challenge Your Perspective on Failure!

The very first time a child takes their first step is no less than a milestone in their lives. They fall in love with the idea of freedom and the ability to run without restraint.

They initially clutch a nearby support, get on to their tiny feet, and take their first couple of steps, only to fall again.

Fast forward to a couple of years later, they find themselves trying to tie a perfect bow and failing at it. They try to learn how to ride a bicycle after falling face first several times only to get back on to their feet despite having multiple scratches and scars, they refuse to give up!

The Falling Test

In order to know where that hard working and self-believing kid grows up to be an adult fearing failure, Surf Excel gave the perfect ‘falling test’. The challenge was to get across a 20-ft log, and the results were simply mind-blowing.

While 92% of the children and only 84% of the adults fell off the log, all of the children successfully completed the challenge simply because they refused to give up. Being creative & unique, giving up was never an option in their minds!

Some crawled across the log, while some took help from their friends, some of the kids even tried their luck at balancing their weight until they finally crossed it. However, for the adults, it wasn’t as easy.

Why Adults Didn’t Make It Through To The Other Side

In their own words, they described how just one fall gave them a sense of failure and accomplishment and how they themselves were ready to believe it was not possible. Others expressed how they did not try to think creatively and help one another get across.

When the kids were asked why the adults failed to complete the task, they simply had one thing to say, the adults didn’t try and were defeated because they got scared.

Sar Uthao Aur #HaarKoHarao

Now the question is, ‘Kya bachon ko harana hum sekhate hain?’ Its time we adults say #HaarKoHarao! Failure is a part of life, it doesn’t mean it is the only option which we can accept and not improve.

Failure itself is a teacher and can be used as a lesson to learn that anything can be aced with practice, dedication, self-will, and belief whether it be academics, sports, or any challenging situation.

Children learn many things from adults who are their initial role models, which is why we need to remind ourselves that if we want them to succeed, we need to change our thinking and make a positive change in life by falling but getting back up, after all, #DirtIsGood!

“If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try, try again !” – William Edward Hickson

Karachi to Face Massive Traffic Jam: Alternative Routes

There are certain things you get accustomed to while living in Karachi, like the anday wala burger, biryani, and beach, the pride of every Karachiite.

But, let’s not forget the “other” things on that list- like streets flooded with water post rain, makeshift garbage disposal spots and not to forget the traffic.

Karachi Traffic to be At Its Worst This Week!

Despite the fact that the people of Karachi don’t bat an eye on the daily traffic problem, having made peace with that fact; the traffic in the metropolis has recently surpassed an average Karachiites patience level.

Yesterday, the citizens were subjected to heavy traffic jams as MA Jinnah Road was blocked blocked for traffic by workers of religious parties.

With protestors gathering at the main Numaish roundabout, one of the main tracks leading from Numaish roundabout to Sea Breeze Hospital has been closed for traffic.

Meanwhile, Jail Chowrangi bridge is also closed for traffic

Alternative Routes

The vehicles entering into Saddar via Guru Mandar can be diverted through People’s Secretariat.

Traffic on Shahrah-e-Quaideen can be diverted through Kashmir Road and Corridor-III.

Protesters have been staging sit-ins at the major artery of the city for the past three days and have said that they will not move till the demands of the protesters in Islamabad were met.

Citizens Continue to Suffer

Social media was flooded with complaints against the heavy traffic jam.

And even the road infrastructure needs to be improved!

But now traffic has become an everyday issue in the life of a Karachiite.

In the upcoming few days, it is suggested to stay updated with traffic and plan accordingly to avoid being unnecessarily stuck for long hours.

Renault Once Again Announces its Entry in Pakistan

Update: Renault is not breaking hearts after all! The international automotive brand formally announced its launch in Pakistan with its new alliance with Al-Futtaim.

Previously, Renault was in talks with Ghandhara Nissan, will now be in partnership with the UAE-based conglomerate, stated a press release issued on Monday.

“Groupe Renault is delighted to extend its international footprint by entering Pakistan, a fast-growing market with a 10% annual growth rate,” – Fabrice Cambolive, senior vice president, chairman of the Africa Middle-East India Region of the Groupe Renault

“By partnering with Al-Futtaim, Groupe Renault aims to become a major player in Pakistan. We aim to bring our latest products and cutting-edge technology and set new benchmarks of safety and quality in the market.”

Both parties are expecting the plant to be started in the first quarter of 2018, further on, car production is expected to be carried throughout in 2019 leading to major sales in 2020.

President of Al-Futtaim Automotive, Len Hunt, has expressed that said that Pakistan’s 200mn population, growing the economy and “vibrant” middle class will make it an important strategic growth market.

The agreement between the two has been signed and sent ahead, for the approval of the Pakistani authorities.

Sorry folks, unfortunately for all those eagerly awaiting Renault’s entry into the automotive sector, is a dream which has been crushed, for now, that is. The French automotive manufacturer has suspended its talks with Ghandhara Nissan Ltd (GHNL).

The brand was in plans to make an investment of around $100 million in a joint car manufacturing venture, however, due to commercial reasons, the talks have been suspended.

On the other hand, Nissan has been in talks with Ghandhara Nissan, GHNL added “They, however, shared their view that Pakistan is an alliance project and they aim to select only one partner for Renault and Nissan models in Pakistan,”

KIA Cars Once Again Spotted on the Roads! [View Spy Shots]

Renault had plans to set up a  plant in Karachi for the launch of fuel-efficient and roomy sedan cars. The investment would have also created job opportunities for the youth.

The GHNL on Friday confirmed that proposed joint venture with Renault was called off. “As far as talks with Renault are concerned, please be informed that GHNL, in collaboration with a potential partner, was in talks with the alliance (Renault plus Nissan). However, owing to commercial reasons, GHNL’s arrangements with the potential partner could not materialize,” said GHNL Company Secretary Sheharyar Aslam.

We hope they sort out the differences and find a way to launch the foreign within the country in the upcoming months.

Killer Whale Spotted near Karachi for the Very First Time!

Killer whales are amongst fascinating creatures on the planet and are considered the most powerful predator on earth. Their sightings are considered to be very rare and especially in our homeland, the beautiful beast has never been spotted in Pakistani waters.

But recently, WWF Pakistan reported that the killer whale also known as Ocra was discovered 5 kilometers southwest of Churna Island, near Karachi on November 19.

A Fisherman namely Muhammad Muneeb was lucky enough to witness and record the first ever sighting of the killer whale in Pakistan.

WWF-Pakistan trained fisherman Muhammad Muneeb recorded the first ever sighting of Orca, commonly known as killer whales in Pakistan, yesterday. The pod of three whales was spotted about 50 km southwest of Churna Island, feeding on a school of queenfish. The killer whale is considered the most powerful predator on Earth and has been reported on only a few occasions from Oman and the Persian Gulf. However, it is rarely found in the northern Arabian Sea. No authentic record of this species is known from Pakistani waters up till now.

Posted by WWF-Pakistan on Monday, November 20, 2017

According to Muhammad Moazzam Khan, technical advisor on marine fisheries at WWF-P reported:

While these whales are of rare occurrence in the Arabian Sea, they are among the most widely distributed marine mammals and are abundantly found in colder waters, including Antarctica, the North Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans though they also occur at lower densities in tropical, subtropical, and offshore waters

The killer whale preys upon dolphins and porpoises, sharks and rays, large whales, cephalopods (octopods and squids), seabirds and various fish species.

Around 50,000 Ocras exist globally and around 25,000 are known from the Antarctic waters.

However, this time around a recent post by Nando’s has created an outrage on social media. It seems like people did not find it the least bit funny when Nandos decided to poke fun at the iconic Pakistani diva, Meeraji.

meera

The post talks about the recent crooning session Meera had on a television show. She was seen singing her heart out on “My heart will go on” originally sung by the melodious Celine Dion for the legendary movie Titanic.

PIA to Sell Roosevelt Hotel to Settle Debts!

The Pakistani national carrier, PIA has been in the news recently trying to cut off its loss-making divisions such as closing down some popular international routes in order to make the airline financially stable again.

However, the next step it has decided to take is to sell off some of its critical assets like the ‘Roosevelt Hotel’ to gain financial stability. The hotel is situated in the heart of Midtown Manhattan on Madison Avenue. The hotel has 1,015 rooms, including 52 suites; some of the suites are among the most luxurious in Manhattan. Last year, the hotel was valued at a whopping $1 billion.

The current debts of PIA which contribute to 1.5% of the country’s GDP have now amounted to a total of Rs. 352 billion putting a stop to various operations and services. A business plan has been presented to the federal government by Dr. Musharraf Rasool Cyan, the CEO of PIA.

The plan suggests that the government pick up debt servicing cost of Rs. 59.3 billion for 2018 and Rs. 49.9 billion for 2019. The CEO has mentioned that these debts will allow the entity to make improvements in the next two years.

PIA has mentioned in the report that they would bear the debt-servicing cost for the year 2020, 2021 and 2022 without external support. Mr. Cyan also spoke about PIA’s fleet increasing from 36 to 44 by 2022, however, they will terminate 5 ATR aircrafts by the year 2022.

The closing down of various departments in PIA will not only result in unemployment as PIA has a vast number of people on their payroll but passengers would no longer be able to haul direct flights to international destinations which other domestic airline companies do not offer at the moment.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has spoken up and finally taken action against the encroachments established by the five-star hotel, Marriott Hotel in Islamabad and has also sealed 9 other high-rise buildings in the city.

This Pakistani College is Selling Fake Degrees to Students

Seems like the business of fake degrees is in full spring in Pakistan. According to latest updates, a college in Islamabad has kickstarted trading of counterfeit degrees and its something all academic authorities, students and even parents should be aware of!

HEC Exposed Islamabad Law College

The head of the Higher Education Commission (HEC)  Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad exposed Islamabad Law College of giving fake degrees to the students.

The matter was addressed in a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, held under the chairmanship of Senator Rahila Magsi. The aim was to find a solution to the college’s affiliation with Islamia University Bahawalpur.

A case was brought in front of the panel in which the student of Islamabad Law College, Muhammad Akmal, told the committee that back in 2015 he took admission in the college and paid Rs 60,000 as a fee.

Apparently, he was told by the college that the institution is affiliated with Islamia University Bahawalpur.

After appearing in examinations of part 1, Akmal was informed that Islamia University had ended its affiliation with the Law College.

The HEC Chairman has issued a warning to the college and has allotted a target of months to the college authorities to resolve affiliation issues.

What is more, the chairman informed the Senate that all those students who are unable to bribe well-reputed institutions then opt for fake degrees form Islamabad Law College and various other illegal institutes.

It is crucial that relevant authorities take strict measures against these corrupt practices prevailing in the education sector and nip the evil in the bud.
