Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Films’ Website Hacked; Hacker Leaves Funny Message

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has been the talk of social media lately and somehow has turned into a major controversy.

Obaid’s sister received an unwanted friendship request from her doctor who worked at Agha Khan University Hospital (AKUH).

However, the fire actually started when she used the term ‘harassment’ to describe the situation at hand. Many bashed her for the choice of vocabulary clarifying that sending a friendship request is unprofessional however you cannot call it harassment!

That’s not all, apparently, after this controversy stirred, Sharmeen’s website SOC Films got hacked by someone who definitely is not a fan of hers, going by the name of Fahim Magsi, who had a very funny message for her.

“Tumari Mashori Hum se Dekhi nai Ja saki Sharmeen Obiad Chinoy :P”

The website is currently functioning properly, however, the URL to Sharmeen’s personal page is not responsive and directs to a ‘404 Error’ as shown below.

Geo Khelo Pakistan Comes to an End!

Earlier this Ramadan, Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar created a frenzy in Pakistan’s entertainment scene by uniting for a game show ‘Geo Khelo Pakistan’ on Geo Entertainment.

While previously, Wasim Akram had hosted a couple of talk shows, it was for the first Shoaib Akhtar hosted a program, that too a game show.

Together, the dynamic duo strived hard to match the level of Fahad Mustafa and Aamir Liaquat. While they did not garner as much fan base as their rivals, the pair did get popular for their funny skits and the audience loved them in avatar never-seen-before.

And now much to the dismay of their fans, Geo Khelo Pakistan aired its last show on Sunday.

Shoaib Akhtar himself took to Twitter & announced the news!

Rawalpindi Express revealed that he is gearing up for PSL and hence, Geo Khelo Pakistan is coming to an end!

PSL 3 will most likely be held in February 2018, promising to be even more explosive and exciting than its predecessors

A Bigger Show Coming Soon!

Meanwhile, Akhtar’s farewell announcement also revealed a good news. Apparently, the Geo team is gearing up for a game show, even massive than Geo Khelo Pakistan.

Recently, Aamir Liaquat bid farewell to ‘Game Show Aisay Chalay Ga’ on BOL TV and launched his own version of Kaun Banega Crorepati on Pak News.

He has truly upped the ante this time around. No one will be able to stop him from literally hosting the biggest game show ever seen.

Umrah Pilgrims New Visa Law for Pakistanis Introduced by Saudi Arabian Government

As winter months approach, pilgrims traveling for the holy ritual of Umrah have begun preparations. However, there is a change in travel policies this year for Pakistani pilgrims. They will now need to get biometric verification before applying for the visa.

This new requirement will cost Pakistani pilgrims traveling for Umrah approximately PKR 1,040 Million each year. Due to this exorbitant amount, the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (TAAP) staged a protest outside the Lahore Press Club on Monday to put an end to this tedious process.

According to the TAAP, the decision will not only double the miseries of the pilgrims but also put the personal and national data of the pilgrims at stake. The TAAP is urging travel agents to stop applying for the Umrah visa for a period of one month, this will in turn cause the Saudi government to change its decision.

As per ProPakistani, the Chairman Travel Agents Association Pakistan (TAAP) Muhammad Yahya Polani spoke on the on-going issue,

“KSA should review this policy. Pakistani pilgrims are mostly living in remote areas of the country and this will cause them additional hassle. Pilgrims have to wait for hours for this process”

The visa law has been put into effect from yesterday by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Every pilgrim will require a biometric registration before applying for a visa. Saudi authorities have now partnered with Etimad to implement this new law in Pakistan.

TAAP statistics show that last year 1.5 million pilgrims visited Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah from Pakistan while 185,000 performed Hajj.

  • Etimad office charges for Biometric verification of Rs 600 – 700 per pilgrim

Artificial Intelligence Defeats CAPTCHA Codes!

If you thought your internet was safe on the web, well, its time to re-think about that!

Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) codes are a common practice used by many websites and companies to keep information safe so that no virus or malware can access confidential data.

However, an AI just proved even CAPTCHA cannot keep your data safe if it’s online! Scientists at Vicarious AI, a California-based start-up, have built a robot that cracks the CAPTCHA codes faster than anything built before. The AI can successfully mimic the human-eye making the codes vulnerable in front of it.

The AI, named RCN, collects information like the edge of texts and their representation to draw an overall picture. Co-founder Vicarious Dileep George has said;

“We can’t even get any machine to recognize all the forms of just the letter A yet. Computers have to deal with missing and uncertain information, clutter and noise.”

This is a huge achievement for technology, however, it is also a concern for the rest of us as if this AI technology is in possession of hackers then it can be used to extract sensitive information including bank account details and more.

Looks like Skynet is one step closer to taking over the web!

 

PIA’s Last Flight to New York Today!

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has forever been in hot water. The nation’s aviation service always makes it to the news for all the wrong reasons and it seems, today is yet another unfateful day for the brand.

Farwell to U.S.A Flights

According to latest reports, PIA has brand has decided to cease flights to the United States from 28th December.

The reason is the surge in losses over the past few months and the airline is no longer booking US flights through its reservation system.

According to the media reports, PIA, after stopping direct flights to the US, will enter into a code-sharing agreement with an American airline. US-bound passengers will be flown to London, where they will then be transferred to the American airline which will take them to the US.

Dawn news revealed that nearly 500,000 Pakistanis live in the US and the aviation service has never ceased its services for that country since it launched the operation there in 1961.

Coincidently, Air Blue now is starting direct flights to New York!

PIA in Massive Loss!

According to latest reports, PIA is facing a loss worth 4 Billion. The country’s flagship carrier is akin to a sinking Titanic with no superhero to save it.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Aviation, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi told Geo News:

Neither the government nor the airline’s management or its employees are ready to own it.

However, he believes that the airline has a lot of potentials to recover itself and rise from the ashes all over again.

“There is a lot of talent, a lot of potential, if they [PIA] utilise their potential to the maximum then things can change”

What is worse, PIA is expected to cut more than 500 jobs under the latest plan. This surely showcases PIA’s sorry state of affairs.

But according to the latest update, Perwani has made it clear that he has NOT joined MQM and wished Farooq Sattar all the best for his future endeavors

The authority posted this news on their Facebook page mentioning the names of the illegal societies and the soon they will be demolishing them.

Over the weekend, Pakistan went through a mighty social media brouhaha over Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and the fired doctor controversy.

The revered documentarian found herself in the eye of a storm over a crucial matter that had Pakistan divided.

Her aggressive tweets about an AKU doctor harassing her sister created an explosion, stirring an aggressive debate on the patient-doctor relationship.

People claimed that she has used the word ‘Harassment’ a little too carelessly.

However, it was not just Sharmeen who received backlash on the matter! Apparently, AKU’s name was dragged through the mud and a movement called #bringthedoctorback started trending on the internet. To save the situation, the hospital rolled out a statement to clarify the matter but it really aggravated the whole situation even more.

Meanwhile, some people came up with various revelations on social media that the doctor was already under scrutiny for various other cases of harassment.

Sharmeen has finally Responded to all the backlash!

It was about time the documentarian finally break the silence and clarify things on her end. In a long note, Obaid did not shy away from accepting that her choice of words exaggerated the matter. However, her intentions were clear and feeling vulnerable, she was compelled to lodge a complaint against the doctor.

But she added that she has no responsibility what so ever for the decision taken by AKUH. What is more, Obaid claimed she will not remain hushed on a matter that will involve a breach of trust and privacy.

Earlier, the value of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin had crossed over $6000 with a sudden rise in value. For almost 8 days, the value remained at $6,183 but then saw a decline and hit $5,800.

However, the value of Bitcoin has once again seen a major rise and now this time, it has crossed their previous record! Now, the currency is valued at $6,306.58.

The currency is facing challenges due to the crackdown in China and it being illegal in many countries around the world, including Pakistan.

Although the currency is not recognised by State Bank of Pakistan and is termed as ‘illegal’, there is a massive scope of investors who are still willing to dive into the currency’s potential, and even potential Altcoin investors as well!

Bitcoin Declared Illegal in Pakistan as Value Surges Even Higher!

According to Freelancer, employers were also looking for people to create new cryptocurrencies and to write proposal plans for technologies employing blockchain — the data structure pioneered by bitcoin.

“People are getting freelancers to design new types of cryptocurrencies,” Matt Barrie, CEO of Freelancer, told CNBC.

According to CNBC, Bitcoin’s popularity has seen ups and downs in recent years, but the cryptocurrency has enjoyed repeated record highs in recent months, breaking above the $6,250 mark on Sunday.

Freelancer.com listed more than 480,000 new jobs in the third quarter and has over 12 million jobs to date with 25 million users, according to the company.

MasterCard to Collaborate with NADRA to Bring E-Payment Facility Once Again

Update: Earlier, Pakistan was surprised with a sudden news of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and MasterCard.

Apparently, they had signed an agreement which would enable the Pakistani citizens to send and receive money.

This would have allowed holders of MasterCard to send and receive money locally and internationally.

However, the agreement went null after former Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar said that due to a security breach, this is no longer possible to move ahead.

But now, are ready to restore the deal once again.

NADRA-MasterCard Agreement Suspended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar

MasterCard has announced its collaboration with NADRA Technologies to allocate the facility of E-Payment of all Pakistani residents holding Pakistani National ID cards (Smartcard).

The announcement was made during Mastercard’s participation in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017, taking place from 17-20 January in Davos, Switzerland.

This technical advancement will allow all individuals to carry out all financial transactions and receive disbursements from the governement. This will be done through the 13-digit unique number every holder has on their ID card, which is similar to the numbers we see on MasterCard Debit and Credit cards.

Along time, residents will be able to use this E-Payment facility to conduct international transactions as well. This will eliminate the need to go to a bank every time a physical transaction is needed to exchange or transfer money.

According to the agreement between the two, MasterCard will use its next-generation payment processing technologies to process all online payments made by Pakistani citizens for the issuance of National ID cards, passports or any other document provisioned by NADRA Technologies.

Iran to Issue 200,000 Visas to Pakistan!

Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan has announced that the Iranian embassy in Islamabad is all set to issue of 200,000 visas to Pakistani pilgrims traveling for the holy walk of Arbaeen that will take place on the 9th of November 2017 in Karbala, Iraq.

The Chairman of Pakistan Pilgrim Welfare Foundation has added that the Iranian embassy and consulates in Pakistan have made a new record for the number of visas issued to Pakistani pilgrims this year.

The Irani government has further made arrangements for the pilgrims to travel onwards from Iran to attend the Arbaeen ritual in Iraq which marks the end of a 40-day mourning period for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Pakistani pilgrims will use the Iranian land for travel to Iraq to participate in the Arbaeen ritual.

Ambassador, Mehdi Hoonardoost mentioned the number of visas to Pakistani pilgrims on Arbaeen last year was 150,000, however, this year due to an increase in demand the number is expected to hit 200,000.

The envoy went on to say that ending medical certificate condition for visa seeking Pakistanis is a major step taken by the embassy to facilitate pilgrims.

Good News for Pakistanis Traveling for Arbaeen Ritual! 

Pakistanis can now apply for Iranian visa without submitting their medical certificate. The embassy has also introduced an e-visa which will allow the pilgrims to get their visa in just two days. Pilgrims can apply for visas themselves getting rid of agents who try to exploit people for extra money.

Pakistan white-washed Sri Lanka in a massive T20 match between the 2 giants in Lahore. The final was a house-full event and became a successful event for both PCB and for the cricket enthusiasts who had been craving for cricket at home for 8 years!

While talking to the media in a conference, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi added; “five full-member ICC countries and one qualifier will play the tournament in next year April,” adding, “I hope India will come to play the tournament.”

Sethi said that the schedule of West Indies tour to Pakistan will be finalised in a day or two, with more than one venue being a part of the plan.

He further said;

“We are happy to be here in Lahore. We are here to support good cricket, Pakistan is a big cricket-playing country which cant be ignored. We have seen extraordinary security here. We will come again for our cricket fans here,” the board chief said.

“It’s an honour to play in Pakistan. One wins and another looses in cricket but what matters is that brotherly relations should be maintained between both the countries.”

The love for automotive had brought Pakistan’s first Tesla into the country! At last, the trend of electric vehicles has been raising its game!

The first Tesla model to have entered the country is the 2017 Tesla S 75D. The beauty is a gorgeous sight and is winning hearts on social media.

However, one of the turn-offs of the gorgeous ride is the vehicle duty which is imposed on it.

According to PakWheels, if a Tesla car is priced at Rs.4 million then it means one has to pay 2 million customs duty. In this 75D’s car which costs, let’s say, PKR7.5 million (rough estimate), the duty will be PKR3.75 million (rough estimate).

Saudi Arabia Makes Major Changes to Work Visa Validity

A vast number of Pakistani nationals have been living and working in Saudi Arabia since decades. The trend is an ongoing one and people are always looking for opportunities to work in the Kingdom due to better pay and a higher standard of living.

However, the visa process is long and tedious. There are now changes implemented by the Labor Law department that will change the visa process for employment visas issued for private sector companies in Saudi Arabia. It has been reported that the said visa will now be valid for a period of one year only.

According to Minister of Labor and Social Development, Dr. Ali Al Ghafis,

“This rule is not applicable for visas issued to government servants and domestic workers coming to work in Saudi Arabia.”

The Saudi Gazette further reported that the decision has been taken according to Article 11 of the Labor Law. The minister can take procedures that are deemed necessary for improving the efficiency of the employment market.

The country has been undergoing major changes, earlier this week Minister, Ali Al Ghafis announced another order that allows foreign mothers of Saudis as well as non-Saudi children to Saudi women to work in professions which were previously only allowed for Saudi nationals.
