The ICC Champions Trophy is a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), second in importance only to the Cricket World Cup. The cup started in 1998, and the 2017 tournament is to be hosted by England in June.

The tournament will take place between 8 major cricket teams including Pakistan, India, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the hosting nation itself. Here’s everything you need to know about ICC Champions Trophy 2017:

Bangladesh will return to the tournament in 11 years since their last appearance in 2006.

Legendary Guitarist Amir Zaki Passes Away!

Famous guitarist and composer, Amir Zaki passed away at the age of 49. The musician apparently lost his life due to heart failure after a prolonged illness. May his soul rest in peace.

A family member told the Express Tribune,“We are still shifting the body. The funeral will most likely be held tomorrow.”

Zaki kickstarted his stellar this musical journey after he was discovered by Alamgir. He was the founder of 3 rock bands The Barbarians, Axe Attack and Scratch.

In 1994, he joined Vital Signs as the group’s lead guitarist in 1994. A year later he released his debut solo album Signature and his tune ‘Mera Pyaar’ became an instant hit.

In 2014, he made his debut in Coke Studio and produced some evergreen tunes.

He was a veteran of his field and his work will forever be remembered.

Our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

Punjab Food Authority Bans 50 Oil & Ghee Products [View List]

Seems like Pakistan’s big-wig Oil and Ghee brands are in great trouble. Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has banned as many as 50 oils and ghee products, declaring their production unfit for human consumption.

In March, PFA took around 142 samples from 120 companies. Only:

92 passed
26 failed
24 failed to meet PFA’s nutritional standards

All the Samples were tested by PCSIR, Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, an ISO-certified international standard laboratory.

Sahir Lodhi is being aggressively attacked on social media. A few days back, a video went viral on the internet in which the host was schooling a young girl, Saba about Quaid e Azam. Some people applauded Lodhi, while the rest slammed him for losing his cool and interrupting the debater’s speech!

People left no stone unturned to bash him and even made videos to question him for insulting Saba. Sahir Lodhi did not remain silent and has now finally opened up about the real story!

Know the full story, I want you guys to know the truth!

He revealed that edited version of the whole episode has made its way on the web and trolls are attempting to malign him.

I have a daughter and for me, each and every girl watching me is like my sister and daughter. Edited and tampered videos are trending on social media against me.

The anchor made it clear that he has deep respects for the founder of Pakistan. However, he will not discuss the issue again!

I have nothing against Saba, but Quaid -e- Azam is everything for me. From today I will not discuss this topic; I apologize for everything.

What is more, Sahir Lodhi even took to live television to clear his point. He revealed that he had apologized to the female participant in the very same show and nobody bothered to talk about it!

The other part of the clip wasn’t shown, where I apologised to the girl on air just moments later.

The video shows that Lodhi clearly had issues with the poem having ‘anti-Pakistan’ sentiments, which triggered him on the show! What is more, he praised Saba’s style of debating and announced that she has made it to the next round.

It seems as if people are penalizing him for being a patriot. There is a probability that a whole lobby is deliberately tarnishing his image and ensuring negative trends sustain against Lodhi. Maybe, cause his show is doing very well.

Sahir Lodhi’s Ramadan Transmission Reaping Decent Ratings

Even though people created a furor about the whole issue on the internet, Lodhi’s show achieved decent ratings for the first two days of Ramadan Transmission 2017.

Stats of Day 1 of Ramadan Before Iftar:

ARY took the lead before Iftar with an average of 2.2 on M/F and 2.4 on the female audience.
On second was TV One with an average of 0.9 and 1.4,
It was followed by GEO Entertainment with an average of 0.8 on both filters.

Stats of Day 2 of Ramadan Before Iftar:

ARY Digital at 1+
GEO Ent and TV One had an average of 0.7

Audience: 18-45 M/F ABC Pak Total
18-45 Females, ABC Pak Total

Overall it was a clear win for ARY with a total day average of 1.5 v 0.6 for GEO Entertainment and 0.4 for TV one which continues to hold the third position on the table.

It seems that people are always ready to troll and pounce on any happening on social media. The most common targets are always Aamir Liaquat and Sahir Lodhi!

Audi Pakistan has launched the brand-new 2017 A4 Saloon! Available in black and quantum grey, the vehicle has tons of power and entertainment packed within!

Engine

The engine under-the-hood is really impressive. The Audi A4 has even engines which are underlined by just one principle of less fuel consumption and more power. This unique engine helps the car reduce fuel consumption by up to 21% and gives an increase in power by 25% compared to its predecessor.

TFSI Engine

The first entry is the 1.4 TFSI. This compact four-cylinder engine with a power of 110 kW (150 HP) and a torque of 250 Nm accelerates the A4 Saloon from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of up to 210 km/h. Thanks to the aluminium crankcase the engine’s weight is just over 100 kilograms.

The 2.0 TFSI is available in two versions: The top version offers a power of 185 kW (252 HP) and a torque of 370 Nm. When equipped with it, the Audi A4 Saloon reaches 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and its electronically limited top speed is 250 km/h.

Exterior

An Audi paint finish consists of four layers, which combined are not even as thick as a strand of human hair. Drivers can design the exterior of your Audi A4 Saloon to their liking. Whether the exterior colour, rim or headlights technology; drivers can turn their Audi A4 Saloon into your personalised dream car using the numerous equipment options.

Interior

The Audi design selection offers you an aesthetic pre-selection of particularly exclusive materials and colours for the interior. Air vent sleeves in high gloss black with reed green inner ring in conjunction with the fine cloth/leather upholstery and trim in reed green/black with attractive contrasting stitching in reed green give the interior a sporty exclusive ambience which is also reflected on the exterior thanks to the cast aluminium wheels in 5-twin-spoke star design.

The interior offers:

Seat upholstery in fine Nappa leather in cedar brown; optionally in rock grey or Atlas beige with contrasting stitching and piping
Leather steering wheel in 3-spoke design with multifunction plus and chrome trim

Intel’s Compute Card is a Pocket-Sized PC!

Ever wanted to carry your entire world in your hand, well, now you can, but in your pocket! Intel’s Compute Card is a gadget like no other, which allows users to store their files, media, and other information on it, just like a hand-held PC.

The card was first introduced at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2017. The company officially launched the compute card this week with a partner list.

According to The Verge, the card might also show up in tablets and interactive whiteboards. Nexdock will be showing something off, too, which we can assume is its touchscreen concept that it announced in January. Intel says the Compute Card will start shipping in August.

However, Intel’s well-known partners, including Lenovo, HP, and Dell, aren’t ready to show off their products just yet. the company has announced that the Intel Compute Card will be ready to be shipped out in August in 4 different variants;

Pakistan vs World XI 2017: Schedule, Timings & More

International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to send the World XI team to Pakistan for a mini T20-series.

This seemed impossible at first, however, PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan proved that Pakistan will always welcome cricket and we are ready to host after a successful Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 final in Lahore.

Old PIA Aircraft Transformed Into a Modern Restaurant in Karachi [Pictures]

The Airport Security Force (ASF) has converted an ancient PIA aircraft into a contemporary restaurant in Karachi. The PIA B-747 has been transformed into a modern eating place.

The restaurant is located near Old Airport. The creative concept has never been introduced before in Pakistan. It seems that the food-loving will like the idea of eating in such an ambiance.

The news was revealed by Danyal Gilani on Twitter.

Budget 2017-18: Car Registration Fee to Be Slashed

While presenting the budget for 2017-18, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted that the manufacturing industry is a major player and contributor to the country’s economy. He referred to the automotive industry as the backbone of the economy.

“Industry is the backbone of any country’s economy,”-Ishaq Dar

Pakistan’s automotive has just recently experienced a sudden increase in the demand for vehicles, which the local manufacturers might find a little difficult to meet, due to lack of supplies and capacity.

In order to provide a bit of relief, the government has made the decision to withhold tax on new car registrations for income tax filers. This new change will be implemented on 3 vehicle categories:

The registration fee for an 800 cc automobile has been dropped to Rs 7,500 from RS 10,000
For a 1000 cc vehicle, the registration fee has been cut to Rs 15,000 from Rs 20,000
For vehicles having a capacity of 1300 cc, Ishaq Dar announced a price decrease to Rs 25,000 from Rs 30,000

Hamza talked about his love life and here’s what he said.

“I’ve never been in love, I’ve had female friends, but never been in love with anyone!”

The rumor mill, once upon a time had been linking up Hamza Abbasi and Ayesha Khan to each other but Hamza clearly denied it and saying they have been close childhood friends and nothing more.

Fashion Pakistan Council Appoints New External CEO

Fashion Pakistan Council, a fashion design body based out of Karachi, today announced Feri Rawanian as the new CEO of the Council. The move was necessitated by the resignation of the previous CEO Nida Azwer. Rawanian, who steps into office with immediate effect, will be an external chief executive charged with the day to day running of the Council.

“I’m honoured to be asked to lead this exceptional organization of creative, dedicated and talented professionals,” said Rawanian, the newly appointed CEO. “In the last ten years, the Fashion Industry in Pakistan has seen immense growth and the Council has been instrumental as a platform in promoting that growth. I do believe that the time has now come for the Council to focus on development of young designers, to try and find a path that will link Fashion to Industry, to help grow Exports which will affect the bottom line of the country – all of this and more is what I intend to do.”

Rawanian’s fashion journey began with Zahir Rahimtoola’s Quincy Acme, a textile buying house back in 1992. After which she moved to Linmaker International (HK) Limited, where she worked for 22 years. During this time period she interacted with the international fashion houses of Armani, DKNY and Calvin Klein. Her job required her to cater to mass market buyers such as Target, USA and La Redoute in France.

In recent years, she has been based and worked in fashion out of Sri Lanka with European countries and US high fashion street brands. She also has an experience with PPR, the parent company that owns YSL, Gucci and Bottega Veneta with its head offices in Paris. Her vision to build links with all external and internal parties, combined with deep industry knowledge, makes her uniquely qualified to lead Fashion Pakistan Council successfully into the future.

5 Famous International Food Chains We Want to Come to Pakistan

Pakistan is no stranger to international food chains. Some of the biggest names have already integrated themselves well within the local market. Some even have a presence in multiple cities. And while we all have grown accustomed to these chains, there are a few there are still to open up here.

We made a list of places we hope will soon open up an outlet in Pakistan so we too can update our Instagram with flashy pictures.

1) Starbucks

This one is hardly surprising. Recently there was a fake news of Starbucks opening in Pakistan and everyone lost their mind. That alone shows how badly we want the chain to open here. We feel left out honestly when the rest of the world is going crazy over those unicorn frappes we make do with our Gannay ka sharbat and do sabr.

2) Taco Bell

Pakistan has a serious dearth of good places that sell tacos. Some local food chains might be serving them on the menu, but we aren’t quite sure how authentic they are. That being said, we really hope Taco Bell comes to Pakistan soon.

3) Applebee’s

They are extremely famous for the delicious pies, but more than that, people have been ordering their sirloin steaks and chicken wings. We do have a lot of steakhouses in Pakistan, and no, we don’t count chicken cutlets drowning in white sauce as steaks. But one look at the steak being served at Applebee’s we know nothing here can compare. Plus we won’t complain about having a nice big slice of pie afterward either.

4) Wagamama

We have quite a few places serving Pan Asian cuisines in Pakistan and most are doing quite well. Wagamama is one of the most famous Japanese/Asian food and noodle house in the UK. Surely it will open its doors in Pakistan as well.

5) Five Guys

This place is the true representation of fast food and as American, as it can be. Think of greasy burgers, fries and hotdogs and you’ll find the best ones at Five Guys. We really hope they open up a franchise in Pakistan.

Wendy’s

While they did try to open up in Pakistan a couple of years ago, they weren’t quite successful. Could be we weren’t ready for them then. Now, however, we really hope they do open up. More than their food, we really appreciate their social media persona. Recently a Twitter user tweeted asking them how many retweets would it take for them to give him for a year of free chicken nuggets. The brand instead of brushing it aside, responded and got a lot of positive coverage. So much effort for chicken nuggets, we really want to try them out too!

Los Pollos Hermanos

Yes, yes, we know this isn’t a real place. We also don’t mean a Breaking Bad themed cafe. We wish there was a place here like Los Pollos Hermanos. It certainly would make watching reruns of the show easier, especially the scenes when Hank is seen chewing on some crispy chicken!
