Recently Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which is aimed at protecting the rights of Pakistani expatriates residing in UAE.
Often workers fall victim to fake recruitment agents and get exploited.
Therefore, Pakistanis will now be required to sign an official offer of Employment with their employer before moving to the Emirates.
Signed by UAE Minister for Human Resources Nasser Bin Thani Al Hameli and Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Tahir Hussain Andrabi, the MoU is expected to ensure a safe and legal working environment for expatriates workers in the UAE.
Features of the MoU are as follows:
- Employer and employee will both be required to sign and confirm the Employment Job Offer before the employee departs from Pakistan.
- The offer will clearly mention the rights and duties of both, the employer and the worker, and the contract will be registered in the UAE.
- In case of a dispute between the parties which does not reach a settlement within six weeks of the complaint submission, it must be presented before the judicial authorities for a solution.
- Pakistani workers will get a minimum wage of Dh800 along with accommodation, food, and medical insurance as per the UAE law.
Efforts will also be made to spread awareness among workers regarding their rights in the contract and their employment cycle.
It is definitely a good news for Pakistanis working in the UAE.
