Pakistan Announced Test Squad for West Indies Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to take place in Multan from January 17 to 29, 2025. The two-match series is part of the ICC World Test Championship and will be a crucial test for Pakistan as they aim to improve their standings.

The team, led by Shan Masood with Saud Shakeel as vice-captain, includes a mix of experienced players and emerging talent. Key changes from the previous South Africa tour reflect strategic decisions to strengthen the batting and bowling departments. Notable inclusions are Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Haris, who will add depth to the batting lineup and Abrar Ahmed, who joins the spin department alongside Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan.

Injury and workload management have also shaped the squad. Haseebullah, expected to play a key role in the middle order, has been ruled out due to injury and replaced by Rohail Nazir. Key pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Abbas have been rested to prioritise long-term fitness. Mohammad Ali will lead the pace attack, supported by a spin-heavy strategy aimed at exploiting Multan’s dry pitches.

The series presents an opportunity for Pakistan to test their balance of youth and experience while addressing challenges posed by player workload and injuries. With the squad finalised, Pakistan will focus on preparation and strategy to secure valuable World Test Championship points against a competitive West Indies team.
