Pakistan at 143-4 After Day One in Multan Test

Saud Shakeelโ€™s resilient 100-ball 56 and Mohammad Rizwanโ€™s circumspect 80-ball 51 helped Pakistan recover after early hiccup on the day one of the first Test against the West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Friday.

After opting to bat first, the hosts found themselves to in deep trouble, when they were four down for 46 as Jayden Seales perplexed the batters in no time.

Shan Masood was undone by Gudakesh Motie on 11. Others batters, Muhammad Hurraira (6), Babar Azam (8) and Kamran Ghulam (5) failed to show any resistance with the bat and left the Green Shirts in trouble. But Rizwan and Shakeel stitched a 97-partnership to add impetus to the Pakistanโ€™s innings before the end of dayโ€™s play following the bad light in Multan.

Both the batters [Rizwan and Shakeel] will start the proceedings for Pakistan on day two in a bid to extend the scorecard. Pakistan ended the day, scoring 143-4 in 41.3 overs.

Jayden Seales (3-21) took three wickets, whereas Gudakesh Motie (1-45) took a scalp. Justin Greaves (0-12), Kevin Sinclair (0-26), Jomel Warrican (0-32) and Kraig Brathwaite (0-2) remained wicketless.
