Pakistan Launches National Tagging System to Track Convicted Sex Offenders

Pakistan has implemented a national tagging system to track convicted sex offenders in a ground-breaking effort to tackle increasing sexual crimes. NADRA built the system, which connects local prosecution offices across the country. It also gives authorities tools for tracking offenders’ movements after they are released.

“The system is designed to ensure all details of convicted offenders are immediately accessible to relevant authorities,” stated a senior government official. This initiative intends to improve public safety and reduce repeat offences by establishing a centralised office in Islamabad and coordinating efforts between the Federal Ministry of Interior and the National Police Bureau. Statistics show an alarming average of 11 child abuse cases each day, emphasising the urgent necessity for this step.
