The World Bank (WB) has pledged an impressive $40 billion for Pakistan under its 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF). The funding aims to address six crucial areas, including reducing child stunting, mitigating climate change, improving learning outcomes and promoting clean water access.
Out of the total funding, $20 billion will come from the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), while an additional $20 billion will be provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The CPF sets ambitious goals, including providing quality education to 12 million students, healthcare services to 50 million peopleย and safe drinking water to 60 million individuals. Renewable energy is another focus, with plans to add 10 Gigawatts of capacity. Efforts will also strengthen food security for 30 million individuals and increase access to family planning services for 30 million women.
Disaster risk management is a key priority, with initiatives to benefit 75 million people by addressing flood and disaster risks. This historic commitment reflects the success of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir in securing international support. According to sources, 19 out of 24 directors voted in favour of Pakistan during the CPF approval.
