Wowing everyone with its bold and humorous trailer, Bollywood movie ‘Veere di Wedding’ was released on 1st June. Starring Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhaskar, the story is based on 4 best friends and a wedding.
Previously, the ‘veeres’ had sent out immense love to their fans in Pakistan the film was declared banned in the country.
Veere Di Wedding Review: Twitter is all Praises for Bold Comedy!
Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor showed some love on social media so did Sonam!
Will miss you guys! https://t.co/iukmZFrl04

However, the ‘love is in the air’ situation did not last long.
Pakistanis have now taken it to social media to bash one of the ‘veeres’ for calling the country ‘a failing state’ in an interview.
That actress is none other than Swara Bhaskar!
The same Swara who had visited our homeland and had been all praises for it until now.
In a recent interview, Swara said;
“For some reason, I have to keep answering for that. I don’t know why people think I’m a spokesperson for the Pakistani government. What do you expect from a state that’s run by Sharia Laws?”
“They’re a nonsecular state. I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state — I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan. Apologies to all my Pakistani friends right now. Rest assured, Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary than we do. I know,” she added.

However back in 2015, while appearing in a comedy show, Swara was all praises for our nation!

In a response to Swara’s statement, Pakistani actress Urwa Hocane took it on social media to bash the B-Town actress for the choice of words used.
2/3 While you’re on this spree of empowering women,i must say you’ve become a bitter person. And all of this is odd coming from a citizen of a state that bans their own films i.e. #Padmavat so let’s not talk about women empowerment.

3/3 This only reflects on u as an ignorant person who is also quiet contradictory in her own statements. It’s not a failing state for sure but u come across as a “Failing Human Being” !!! @ReallySwara

The Punjab Nahi Jaungi superstar was not the only one to raise her voice on this matter.
Actor Gohar Rasheed also gave his two cents.
#SwaraBhasker prior to your recent interview I’ve never heard your name or known of your existence in #Bollywood. Hence this is when I found out about you, and your change of opinion on #Pakistan.
My first reaction was, what a “typical old school mentality”, (1/10)— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
He added that this stunt was pulled off for publicity as the actress is not as famous as her two superstar co-stars Kareena and Sonam Kapoor.
Obviously in order to stand out in front of your talented and well spoken co actors #KareenaKapoor & #SonamKapoor you’ld resort to a controversial statement to get the limelight. There seemed to be no better way for you, than talking about #Pakistan with hatred, (2/10)
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
This reflects your negative mantra in making some name for your self, also why I’ve never heard of you before, 🤔(3/10) #VeereDiWedding #SwaraBhasker #AttentionSeeker
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
Gohar also took her on a flashback to the 2015 interview in which she has praised Lahore while comparing it to other major countries around the world.
In your interview you said “#Pakistan is a failing state, I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling sense of self worth from all the things that happens in #Pakistan”. Let me inform you that #Pakistan is the 5th largest market for Bollywood films, (4/10)
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
So here’s the reason why you take pleasure and feel a sense of worth from all the things that happen in Pakistan. Its the Pakistani fans and authorities that can determine the fate and worth of an Indian film in the global box office. (5/10)
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
So I hope that will knock some sense in your head, (6/10) #VeereDiWedding #SwaraBhaskar #AttentionSeeker
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
Lastly you stated that “ Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary then we do” – odd that it’s one aspect of #Pakistan you seemed to have taken an interest in, (7/10)
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
I suppose others would look into the literary advancements but clearly abusive language is your sphere of interest, (8/10)
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
However let me tell you, the way we give respect, spread peace and provide knowledge to ignorant attention seekers clearly reflects on where we stand intellectually. (9/10) #SwaraBhaskar #AttentionSeeker
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
In the end, he simply stated “THERE IS NO POWER ON EARTH THAT CAN UNDO PAKISTAN 🇵🇰 “
And let me conclude with the quote from my beloved #QuaideAzam #MohammadAliJinnah “THERE IS NO POWER ON EARTH THAT CAN UNDO PAKISTAN 🇵🇰 “ (10/10) #ProudPakistani #SwaraBhaskar #KHUSHRAHO
— Gohar Rasheed (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018
Even Amreena Rana Khan roasted Sara after hearing her controversial statements!
You’ve lost my respect! damn!
— Armeena Khan (@ArmeenaRK) June 3, 2018
“Pakistanis have a way worse vocabulary than we do.” #saywhatnow? 🧐 Come on Pakistanis let’s correct your “a way worse” vocabulary 🤓
— Armeena Khan (@ArmeenaRK) June 3, 2018
There’s a way to promote a film and then there’s a back-handed way to do it. I know you are relatively new but you’ve been ill advised by your PR (if you have any) you can’t antagonise an entire nation. Some ppl were actually looking forward to your film. #Spreadlovenothate
— Armeena Khan (@ArmeenaRK) June 3, 2018
Mehwish Hayat also took to Twitter and bashed Swara for her mean remarks!
The comments made by @ReallySwara & Kangana Ranaut earlier just go to prove the point that I have been https://t.co/8RoaMTehPK cannot ignore 70 years of history & when the chips are down their nationalism will always come up trumps. The fault lies with us who see their indust..1/2
— MehwishHayat (@MehwishHayat) June 3, 2018
Industry as the height of achievement &remain so much in awe.We don’t need their validation,we know what we’re capable of.We should be proud that we’ve come so far in such a short period of time with little or no resources.Friendship yes,but not at the cost of our self respect2/2
— MehwishHayat (@MehwishHayat) June 3, 2018
And of course, Momina Mustehsan too couldn’t stay silent on the matter!
“Aur rota hai raaton mein Pakistan kya waise jaise Hindustan o Husna” (my favorite @cokestudioind track). We all should be promoters of peace and try bridge gaps, not create them. Hate speech is never empowering.
— Momina Mustehsan (@MominaMustehsan) June 3, 2018
However, the hottest debate at the moment on social media is whether Swara Bhaskar is an actress or a chameleon?
Swara Bhaskar in Pakistan: I have been to London, Paris, NYC, trust me, Lahore (Pakistan) is the best.
